“My personal experience in migrating to Australia as a nurse has taught me that the concern is not limited to just knowing about the job requirements. It is also about the difficulty of looking for assistance in getting into the right school, understanding the different visas, securing the professional license, acquiring residency, and even looking for a place to live.

Being away from your loved ones in the Philippines is also a big factor. This is why our mission in Aide Australasia is to provide service as a one-stop-shop service to assist and provide guidance to eligible professionals all these steps, and much more. Our objective is to help our Filipino nurses every step of the way,” said AA Director Joie Lacson.

Establishing market leadership using global standards Globe Telecom is undisputed leader in postpaid with revenue market share of 57.8%

Globe Telecom is the #1 postpaid brand in the country based on revenue market share, the global metric used in determining market leadership across telcos worldwide.

Globe posted postpaid revenues of P7.8 billion in the first quarter of 2015 versus Smart’s P3.3 billion and Sun’s P2.4 billion. Globe postpaid revenues have grown by 11% versus Sun’s 10% growth from previous year’s levels.

The revenue figures show Globe has cornered the mobile postpaid segment with revenue market share of 57.8%, leaving Smart with a 24.6% revenue share and Sun with a 17.6% revenue share.

Globe Senior Advisor for Consumer Business Dan Horan pointed out that Globe has been consistently growing its postpaid business both in number of customers and ARPU (average revenue per user), an important indicator of customer preference and stickiness to the network. "Clearly, mobile postpaid is a segment that Globe has long dominated over many years. Since 2012, Globe led the mobile postpaid business with a consistent revenue market share of 58% on a 2-player market. Our leadership in the postpaid business is clearly unprecedented, underpinned by sustained growth in this segment and our breakthrough offers and innovations attracting new customers.”

Providing access to the Filipino digital lifestyle, Globe launched the new postpaid myLifestyle Plan, allowing customers to fully embrace the digital experience with data and exciting content using mobile phones.

“The myLifestyle Plan was a significant growth driver of postpaid revenues and customer base in the first quarter of 2015 as it perfectly caters to our customers’ digital lifestyles. With the myLifestyle Plan, they get a postpaid plan made for the way they live today, giving them a full smartphone experience with focus on data usage. The myLifestyle Plan is set to become an invaluable life tool to allow our customers to enjoy a world of digital content that is built the way they live now,” says Erli Valdez, Vice President for Postpaid Business at Globe.

The new myLifestyle Plan gives customers access to an easier and simplified plan offer starting at P499 a month which comes with built-in unlimited calls and texts to Globe & TM plus freebies such as free 1-month choice of Navigation, Explore or Fitness Pack, free 1-month Gadget Care, and free 1GB Globe Cloud storage for 24 months.

On top of the base P499/month plan, Globe postpaid customers can avail of add-on services like Surf Packs for their mobile internet needs which are bundled with exclusive access to Spotify and/ or NBA League Pass. Customers can choose from GoSURF99 for 100MB of mobile internet monthly to as much as 15GB monthly with GoSURF2499.

For a richer data experience, myLifestyle plan customers can also choose from any of the Lifestyle Packs which includes Chat, Fitness, Navigation, Explore, Photo, Shopping, Work, as well as access to Facebook, HOOQ, NBA, Spotify, and Twitter. Moreover, they can also get extra calls and texts to other networks, as well as landline and international services with the Classic Packs.

All promo packs chosen will then be added to the P499 base plan, which will be equivalent to the customer’s monthly service fee (MSF). Customers then get to choose from a wide range of free devices and gadgets, depending on their MSF. The more services they add on top of the base plan, the better the handset they can get.

By adding P99 on top of the base plan, customers can get free smartphones with their postpaid plan ranging from CloudFone, Huawei, Lenovo, Samsung, or Microsoft Lumia devices.

Industry partners back full implementation of K to 12

In pursuit of updating the industry partners on the updates of the current education reform, Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC shared the triumphs of K to 12 in a gathering of education partners and stakeholders held recently in Cebu.

Luistro presented the current situation of the K to 12 roll-out, the decrease of out-of-school children and the department’s update on the basic inputs -- learner materials, school seats, teacher hiring, classroom construction, among others. He also explained the Senior High School (SHS) Program and the vital role of the industry partners in the implementation of SHS.

Dominica Chua from Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. emphasized the support they will provide for DepEd’s ongoing campaign. Chua mentioned that 60% of their budget is dedicated to education. “We are your biggest fan,” she added. Most notable of their education efforts are the more than 600 classrooms for public high school lined-up for next year.

Aside from the educational assistance provided for high school students living near their facilities, Dr. Emiliano Salceda II said that the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) pledges to integrate their programs to that of the K to 12 curriculum. Consultations are currently being made in the division and regional level. EDC also pledges to assist the department on their Technical-Vocational Track in SHS -- being the only center in the locality offering this track.

Guests composed of industry and business leaders, officials from the DepEd Central and Regional Offices attended the said gathering. Present in the event were the companies that supported the early implementation of the SHS Program.

Part of this group was Mr. Marcus Leslie Suntay from the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. who shared the triumphs and challenges their company faced during the early implementation of the program. He also extended his gratitude for the support of the Local Government and other private companies in addressing their concerns.

To cap-off of the event, the signing of the Commitment Wall was done to promote the industry and business leaders’ pledge to support the new education reform.

Luistro said, “This reform (K to 12 Program) opens the door for partnerships and linkages with the industry -- a strong driving force in achieving positive results in the full implementation of SHS come 2016.”

Managing asthma and allergies with Sharp

“Our Brand, Our Pride” philosophy, a pledge to uplift the quality of Filipinos’ lives through outstanding Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology products.

Here in the Philippines, three out of ten children and one out of ten adults suffer from asthma - a common disease that you probably know someone who had it as a child or still has it as an adult. You probably even have it.

Asthma episodes may vary among kids – some outgrow it, while some retain it to adulthood. There are even those whose asthma symptoms become dormant and then reappear later in life. While most parents would think that their children will outgrow their asthma, it is always better not to take chances.

Modern advances may have made asthma easier to manage, but it is always a good measure to look for better ways to prevent asthma attacks caused by common triggers found in the house such as dust, pollen, dust mites, molds, and pet dander. Don’t let allergy triggers at home be the cause of your child’s (or your own) asthmatic episode. Make sure that the air you and your family breathe at home is clean and safe and free from airborne allergens with the unique Plasmacluster Ion Technology from Sharp.

Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Technology is a one-of-a-kind air purifying innovation that releases positive and negative ions that effectively deactivate the effects of airborne allergens and other threats by up to 99%, make the air odor-free in a chemical-free method, remove static electricity which makes dust stick and gather, and provide better skin moisture.

Sharp has PCI Air Purifiers with Humidifying Function, which releases high-density Plasmacluster Ions and provides a well-balanced humidity in the air. Its air purifying power is doubled with its triple filters that collect airborne dust and odor particles. This is great for families that commonly experience dry eyes and dry throat, which act up normally when one wakes up.

The Sharp PCI Air Purifier with Dehumidifying Function, on the other, provides air purification while also reducing the level of humidity indoors. This is perfect for households that retain too much moisture. Plasmacluster Ion Generators, meanwhile, are also good for use in work stations and industries such as restaurants, hotels, food processing factories and textile factories. Whichever air purifier or ion generator you choose, you will be able to keep airborne allergens at bay – making your indoor space friendly and safe for anyone suffering from asthma. All Plasmacluster products are designed to deliver comfort to any room by creating an atmosphere filled with clean and safe air inspired by nature. Plasmacluster Ion Technology is engineered to provide superior Sharp experience, each made with the vision of providing comfort and convenience to each Filipino home. This is a commitment pushed by Sharp through its “Our Brand, Our Pride” philosophy, a pledge to uplift the quality of Filipinos’ lives through outstanding products.

TPB helps preserve PH environment, culture

The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), led by TPB Chief Operating Officer (COO) Domingo Ramon Enerio III, encouraged its employees to participate in a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects lined up to help preserve the country’s environment and cultural heritage.

Mobilizing hundreds of TPB employees, the campaign kicked off in Boracay this summer, in time for the country’s busiest tourist season. TPB employees, in cooperation with the Boracay Foundation Inc., conducted a series of beach clean-ups. As one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, Boracay plays host to concerts, sports events, and other major summer activities which leave its shores heavily littered.

They also planted acropora coral fragments in response to the destruction of coral reefs in the island due to pollution and the influx of tourist vessels, as well as natural stresses like strong current and waves. Through this restoration project, Boracay’s corals can continue to be one of the island’s attractions and home of marine creatures.

In addition, they helped plant mangroves along Lugutan Beach on the other side of the island. Mangroves play an important role in protecting the coastlines from erosion, while also serving as nursery area for fish and other sea organisms.

Also lined up for TPB employees are visits to Camiguin and Bohol – areas which were devastated by natural calamities. In 2013, Camiguin and Tacloban were both hit by Typhoon Yolanda while Bohol met a 7.2-magnitude earthquake.

Aside from destroying lives and properties of thousands of Filipinos, these disasters also led to the destruction of many cherished historical and cultural sites in the Philippines, including the Church of Our Lady of Light in Loon, Bohol, and the Children’s Park and Sto. Niño Church in Tacloban.

“These activities show TPB’s commitment not only to promoting our many tourist destinations, but also helping preserve our country’s cultural heritage and rebuilding communities whose residents depend on tourism,” explained Enerio.
