AirAsia announces resumption of domestic flights




AirAsia is set to resume its scheduled domestic flights commencing with Malaysia on 29 April 2020, followed by Thailand (1 May 2020), the Philippines (1 May 2020), India (4 May 2020) and Indonesia (7 May 2020), subject to approval from the authorities.

The resumption of services will initially be for key selected domestic routes, which will increase gradually to include international destinations around the network, once the situation improves and governments lift borders and travel restrictions.

The flights are already open for booking via the airasia.com website and our mobile app. Guests may use their credit accounts to redeem for these flights.

Further details on more routes and flight schedule will be announced in the coming weeks, subject to approval from the authorities.

President (Airlines) of AirAsia Group, Bo Lingam said: “We are very pleased to be able to fly again and to serve our guests starting with domestic routes, and hope to resume full operations as soon as possible. We have undertaken a thorough review of our guest handling procedures both on ground and onboard in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have been working closely with the airport authorities to ensure that all the relevant precautionary measures are in place to ensure a safe, pleasant and comfortable journey for everyone.

“At AirAsia, the safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees is always our highest priority. We work actively with all our regulators, local governments, civil aviation and health authorities, including adhering to guidance from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to ensure the highest standards of compliance and conformance are in place for every single flight we operate in our network.”

Guests are advised to practise the universally recommended protective precautionary measures including wearing a mask, social distancing and observing high personal hygiene. The aircraft, which are fitted with hospital-standard High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, will also be sent for a thorough disinfection after each flight.

AirAsia's continued commitment to grow the local sports scene, launches #DaretoDream sports initiative in time for the 2017 SEA Games

AirAsia launches its region-wide #DaretoDream sports initiative, which aims to motivate and inspire athletes to discover their own potential and make their athletic aspirations a reality.


As the official airline partner of the 2017 SEA Games, AirAsia, voted as the world's best low cost carrier for nine consecutive years by Skytrax,  launches the campaign just in time for the Southeast Asian Games, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 19 to 31. 

AirAsia Philippines has also created an inspiring web video series telling the stories of our very own SEA Games athletes, who are all aiming to bring home glory for the country this August.

#DaretoDream videos is chronicling the journeys of renowned Volleyball player Alyssa Valdez, Swimmer Jessie Lacuna, and Long Jump athlete Marestella Torres-Sunang. 

The #DaretoDream videos share both the challenges and joys that come with being an athlete, and is sure to encourage young, aspiring local talents who want to go into sports.

As part of the campaign, AirAsia Philippines will be posting video updates of the 2017 SEA Games on its Facebook page, which will be hosted by Volleyball player and TV personality Michele Gumabao.

The four videos will contain the game highlights and team standings of the Philippine delegates. The first video will focus on the Opening Ceremony of the 29th SEA Games. The second and third will feature the winning athletes and teams from different countries, and the last will recap the highlights and winning moments of our Filipino athletes.

AirAsia launches “Red Talks with Daphne” web series



“Red Talks with Daphne,” was formally launched today (March 20) by AirAsia, with TV host and producer, Daphne Oseña-Paez.

AirAsia, voted the world's best low cost carrier for eight consecutive years by Skytrax, launched a 6-part web series featuring some of Asia’s best-kept attractions, rich cultural heritage, and inside stories about people and the airline that broke travel norms and made flying possible for everyone across Asia and beyond.


“Red Talks with Daphne,” is hosted by award-winning TV host and producer, Daphne Oseña-Paez. She takes viewers to different places and talks about traveling, flying, helping and inspiring communities.

The Red Talks team led by Daphne traveled far and beyond to search for places and meet people who share the same dream and story.” 


The Red Talks with Daphne web series:

  • Destination: Dream (The Man with the Red Cap). It takes viewers to AirAsia’s massive headquarters in Kuala Lumpur where Daphne and AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes talk about the airline’s humble beginning and the exciting times for air travelers in the future.
  • Destination: Fly is an inside look on what it takes to be an AirAsia cabin crew and how their journeys and training earned them the distinct recognition of being world-class in a highly demanding job and environment.
  • Destination: Good (The Silversmiths of Arkomjogja), meanwhile, tells the story of architects and silversmiths in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. This third episode highlights the work of the AirAsia Foundation in keeping these ancient traditions alive. 
  • Destination: Unity. It talks about ASEAN as a single market destination and how AirAsia is making it more convenient, more affordable, more fun and more exciting to travel around thousands of islands and the challenges of connecting people, places, and empowering communities.
  • Destination: Harmony (The role of business in environmental protection) goes to Palawan. In this fifth episode, Daphne talks about pearl production and delves into the ongoing campaign to protect Palawan’s marine biodiversity through responsible eco-tourism.
  • Destination: Freedom (A tribute to travelers from all walks of life), brings viewers to Shanghai, China in a story of adventure, thrill, and excitement.
