Daikin now Available at over 180 Appliance Retailers Nationwide

Daikin, the world’s leading air conditioning manufacturer, recently launched its Time to Split campaign, an initiative that seeks to change the traditional window type aircon culture in the Philippines. Part of that campaign is ensuring availability to as many Filipinos as possible by making Daikin’s energy-efficient split type air conditioners available in over 180 major appliance retailers nationwide.

“More than a sales campaign, Time to Split is the main driver of our long-term strategy in the Philippines,” said Takayoshi Miki, President of Daikin Philippines. “As more and more Filipino consumers experience high electricity costs, Daikin hopes to shift the traditional Window-Type Aircon Culture to an Inverter Energy-savings split-type mentality.”

With many Filipinos staying at home to help contain the spread of COVID-19, electricity consumption per household has notably increased, leading to higher than normal electricity bills due to increased use of air conditioning. This has led to Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi recently calling for the ‘conscious consumption’ of energy.

In line with the Department of Energy’s call for conscious consumption of energy, Daikin seeks to shift the Filipino mindset towards energy efficient split-types over traditional window-type air conditioners. Inverter air conditioners are well known for their precise control and outstanding energy efficiency, particularly compared to non-inverter models. According to Daikin, this is due to the inverter’s ability to vary capacity by adjusting operating frequency.

“At Daikin, we fully support the government’s call for the efficient use of energy,” said Miki. “Through our Time to Split campaign, we hope to advocate for the use of highly efficient split-type inverter aircons, not just to lower usage cost of our customers, but to also protect our environment from the harmful effects of using non-inverter window type aircons.”

The Time to Split campaign is being led by Daikin’s D-Smart line, the company’s latest batch of inverter split-types with lower SRPs compared to its counterparts in the market. According to Miki, the proprietary DC inverters in its new split-types can reduce electricity consumption, resulting up to 60 percent real energy savings.

For a limited time, consumers can get discounts on installation fees until December 31, 2020.

Daikin donates aircon units to medical facilities fighting COVID-19

Daikin, the world’s leading air conditioning manufacturer, recently donated aircon units for use in newly constructed emergency medical facilities for treating non-critical COVID-19 patients.

Lung Center donation:
Employees from the Lung Center of the Philippines receive 600 ready-to-cook chicken packs from Daikin Philippines.

According to Takayoshi Miki, President of Daikin Philippines, the donated aircon units was their own way of supporting the frontliners and the community in the battle against COVID-19. “Amid this global pandemic, we at Daikin recognize that our medical workers are at the forefront of saving lives, and we are deeply committed to working with our community to support them in whatever way we can,” he said.

Daikin donated 11 floor-mounted aircons for the newly built Emergency Quarantine Facility (EQF) in Camp Aguinaldo, which was built in partnership with WTA Architecture + Design. Daikin also donated 17 ceiling suspended aircons to Philippine Contractors Association (PCA) and EEI Corporation, for container vans converted into mobile medical facilities.

Daikin donated 17 ceiling suspended aircons for the construction of mobile medical facilities.

The newly built medical facilities came as the country’s hospitals continued to battle the coronavirus pandemic, often straining to handle the growing number of affected patients.

Daikin continues to service and repair aircon units for essential establishments like supermarkets, drugstores, and banks

“We need to pool our resources to control the spread and rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country,” said Wilfredo L. Decena, President of PCA.

That Bayanihan spirit was echoed by the other members of this COVID-19 initiative, with both WTA and EEI Corporation expressing their gratitude for Daikin’s support in outfitting Emergency Quarantine Facilities in Metro Manila with proper thermal comfort, and lending modular cabins to hospital facilities in Luzon.

As part of their advocacy to support frontliners during this time, Daikin also donated 600 ready- to-cook chicken packs to Lung Center of the Philippines. Additionally, the aircon manufacturer extended much needed financial assistance to all its home appliance promoters.

Beyond donations, Daikin has committed to continued emergency service response during the enhanced community quarantine. This is to promote business continuity, especially to the essential business category.

Since March 27, Daikin has serviced and repaired aircon units of several supermarkets, convenience stores, and other food establishments to ensure that essential services continue to operate in comfortable working environments.

More recently, Daikin announced that a select authorized dealers have resumed their operations, with others eventually opening up in the coming weeks. “With summer already here, we want to be able to provide comfortable and sustainable living environments for the many Filipinos stuck at home during the ECQ,” said Ikuo Kani, Vice President of Daikin Philippines.

Daikin Soaring High at 10 : In photo (From L-R) Division Manager of Sales Operation - Mr. JED Caburian, Vice President - Mr. Toshiyuki Tanaka, Daikin Philippines’ President - Mr. Lee Wai Kok, Division Manager of Human Resources And General Affairs - Mr. Gerry Cortez and Daikin Consultant for After Sales Services – Mr. Ogie Quitco.

Daikin's 10th year anniversary in the Philippines celebrates with a media conference held last February 21, 2019 at Marriott Grand Ballroom, Resort World Manila.

Dubbed as "Soaring High at 10", Daikin Philippines announce more development this year 2019. Also, they told us that a new  Daikin brand ambassador will be presented these coming days.

Daikin sets its sights on improving the Air Quality

Air conditioning is more than just the basic concept of heating and cooling as it can be further defined by improving the quality of the air to not just make the surrounding comfortable but maintain its livability as well.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) refers to the air quality within and around buildings and structures, especially as it relates to the health and comfort of building occupants. Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce your risk of indoor health concerns.
Health effects from indoor air pollutants may be experienced soon after exposure or, possibly, years later.

It is also an advocacy recognized by Green Building Organizations as it is very much evident how the air quality in the world is worsening thus the need to take action and make adjustments and stop compromising wellness with progress.

Therefore, Daikin, through its various products have taken the steps to further promote the importance of IAQ and reinforcing its presence in various areas. In the residential market, Daikin has released a full range of Air Purifiers to help families in reducing the risks of illness such as asthma. While for the commercial market, Daikin has developed products that is capable of inducing fresh air that is essential to attaining the best conditions for the people occupying the space.

Revolutionizing the Residential Air Conditioning Market

Traffic. In many ways, this word has become an absolute description of Metro Manila’s roads, which brought about the trend of Filipinos changing their lifestyles by renting or buying small spaces close to their schools or workplaces. This has, unfortunately, become the new reality.

With this in mind, it was the aim to develop a product that perfectly fits this lifestyle, hence the development of the Super Multi S.

The Super Multi-S is a single condensing unit that allows connection of up to 3 indoor units compared to the conventional single-split units. Though the Multi Split technology has existed for a while now, it is not suitable for the current Philippine market because most Multi-Split systems are designed or optimized to connect to up to 5 indoor units, which is just not possible given the current condominiums development trends. Thus, making the Super Multi-S perfect for smaller spaces and applications that fit the typical working-class Filipino, wherein 20 sqm. spaces are now considered a 1-BR unit. With this product’s compact design and low power output, it is not a chore to install and be energy efficient, therefore giving the user all the benefits of an Inverter Split-Type Air Conditioner at a bargain. It is truly luxury at a great value.

Also, to be launched is Daikin’s brand new Premium Inverter, the FTKM. With the latest features that’s includes a sleek and stylish Coanda Panel Design that gives you the best air-conditioning experience. The powerful air draft does not fall on your head directly, but it is steered upward letting air circulate into the corners of the room creating a comfortable ambience. The FTKM aims to be most efficient Air Conditioner available in the market and be the mother of all 5-Star Energy Efficient Residential Air Conditioners.

New Large Floor Standing and Enhancements to the VRV

Daikin’s New Large Floor Standing model is the latest addition to its extensive line of Packaged Air Conditioners. With a larger capacity and superior performance, this unit aims to be the go-to product for the market in terms of various applications such as factories, airports, and of the like.

This year will also be another unveiling of Daikin’s continued innovation and improvement to its flagship product, the VRV. With the New Anti-Corrosion model, Daikin will be providing a solution to the longstanding problem that projects located in reclamation areas face. The unit features the use of a remarkably superior corrosion-resistant hot-dip Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium (ZAM) alloy coated steel sheet product, which is 10-20 times better than hot dip zinc coated steel sheets which will enable the end users to protect their investment as well as get the best out it.

DAIKIN’s Green Initiatives in Disseminating R32 Energy Efficient Air Conditioners to Address Climate Challenges

As Daikin Airconditioning Philippines (DPH) continuously develop its business operations in various fields, it is Daikin’s mission to proactively develop initiatives to respond to environmental issues. Incorporating environmental initiatives throughout Daikin’s management is a priority.

Daikin's  press conference with the theme - Grow Together, Shine Together was held last March 02, 2018 at the Taft Ballroom, Conrad Manila Hotel, Pasay City. (From left to Right) Daikin Philippines Bart Roa - Deputy Division Manager Sales Operations Division , Jed Caburian - Division Manager Sales Operations Division ,Toshiyuki Tanaka - Vice President , Lee Wai Kok - President , Ogie Quitco - Division Manager After Sales Service Division , Gerry Cortez - Division Manager Human Resources and General Affairs.

Environmental Philosophy:
To be a Company that Leads in Applying Environmentally Friendly Practices

In all aspects of the business operations of Daikin, including product development, manufacturing, and sales. Daikin formulates initiative that will sustain and improve the environment. Daikin promotes the development of new products and the innovation of technologies that will lead to a more environmentally healthy world.

To mitigate future global climate change, it is important to take a “the sooner, the better” approach. Early implementation is a key to the further reduction of future environmental impact. As soon as the most balanced and feasible solution for an application is found, Daikin will commercialize and disseminate the technology to contribute to the efforts to tackle the issue of global climate change.

Environmental Action Plan 2020

The Daikin Group positions environmental protection as one of its most important management tasks. Based on DPH’s Fusion 20 strategic management plan, under the formulated Environmental Action Plan 2020, Daikin aims to decrease environmental impact throughout the value chain so that Daikin can achieve sustainable business growth and protect the environment.

Under Daikin’s Environmental Action Plan 2020, Daikin is taking action based on three pillars:
1-  provide environmental friendly products and services
2 - minimize environmental impact through manufacturing and other activities
3 - expand the Green Heart circle worldwide.
Since air conditioners emit a particularly large amount of CO2 during its lifecycle, Daikin is focusing on disseminating the use of energy-efficient air conditioners and air conditioners that use low-global-warming-potential refrigerants. By penetrating the global market, the Daikin group sold about 6.5Million of RAC units in 48 countries, and about 15 million units with R32 refrigerant sold. Estimated 27 million tons of CO2 emission reduced. By converting to R32, Daikin projected the reduction of global warming impact in 2030 by approximately 800 million tons of CO2.

Daikin has identified R32 as a very beneficial refrigerant for single and multi-split type air conditioners. R32 is the next-generation refrigerant that has highest cooling power, zero ozone depletion potential, and lowest global warming potential versus other refrigerants in the market. When looking for a new airconditioning for any application, Daikin believes that consumers should not consumers should look for R32 inverter.

Daikin believes that the transition to R32 will help to meet both the HFC phase down schedule and the HCFC phase out schedule of the Montreal Protocol.

Daikin is now in the process of further study to identify a suitable refrigerant for the other applications.

VRV X/A Series

Exceeding Boundaries with Innovative Energy Savings

The key to innovative energy saving is to increase efficiency during low-load operation. Using data gathered from actual operation, Daikin discovered that air conditioning systems operate at partial – half or less than of 80% of their annual operation period. This inspired Daikin to develop new technologies to enhance energy efficiency when operating only with few units in a multiple airconditioning system. Utilizing these technologies, Daikin’s new VRV X and VRV A series raise the standards for energy efficiency. By uniting advanced software and hardware technologies these greatly increased the energy saving during actual operation. Daikin newest software technology, the VRT Smart Control.

This VRT smart control, optimizes the compressor speed by calculating the required cooling for the entire system and optimal refrigerant temperature based on data sent by each airconditioning unit. With its air volume control, it reduces compressor load and minimizes operation loss.

VRT control ensures energy savings and comfortable air conditioning to meet the needs of the consumers.

Daikin’s research and development team continuously improve the VRV system. Incorporating a new hardware technology, a new scroll compressor refrigerant leakage is minimized when operating only with few units in a multiple airconditioning system. Operation loss due to refrigerant leakage is reduced by the new mechanism to ensure stable partial load operation.

For easier installation, Automatic Refrigerant Charge Function automates the charging of the proper refrigerant amount and the closing of shut-off valves with just one press of the switch after pre-charging. Simplified installation eliminates excessive and insufficient refrigerant charge amount due to mistakes in calculation, and this led to higher installation quality.

The VRV X and VRV A is the most advanced air conditioning system in the world and is ideal for large and small spaces.

The Daikin press conference  was hosted by  Christian Centenera Ardiente and organized by R & A Events Specialist by Ricci Ang.
