3rd SEASON OF FOOD HERO SET TO RAISE THE BAR IN 2016! : Be the next food host on Asian Food Channel and Food Network Asia!



Asian Food Channel and Food Network’s hunt for the next food host is expected to draw fierce competition across Asia-Pacific.  Now looking for a great host with a passion for food and travel, who also has outstanding skills in the kitchen.

The digitally-enabled competition expects to surpass past seasons’ participation numbers and increase engagement among food lovers in the region

Food Hero is a digitally-enabled campaign by Asian Food Channel and Food Network Asia to looking for talent that is passionate about food and travel, and aspire to be on television! Interested participants can download the Food Hero mobile app from either the App Store (on Apple) and Google Play (on Android) to submit their entries for selection. All you need to do is to shoot a 3-minute video of yourself either cooking or introducing a dish and upload it onto the Food Hero mobile app. Submissions close August 21. Share your food story today! 

The search for the region’s best home cook and host kicks off in Asia as Food Hero returns in its third season. Building upon the momentum and success from previous seasons, the digitally-enabled competition will look to crown one winner who will go on to host his or her own Asian Food Channel and/or Food Network programme. 


“As the leader in lifestyle programming with two dedicated regional channels focused on food, we are always looking to grow our pool of on-air and digital talent. Continuing the Food Hero competition is not only a great platform to uncover fresh talent, it is also a great way for our viewers to connect over the common passion point around the love for food,” said Carl Zuzarte, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production at Scripps Networks Interactive, Asia-Pacific.

Food Hero 2016 – 5 Simple Steps to Participate! 

1- Interested participants can download the Food Hero mobile app from either App Store (on Apple) or Google Play (on Android).  
2- After downloading, participants will be prompted to register their information to sign in. 
3- The mobile app provides instructional videos and tips on how to shoot and submit a winning entry. Participants can also draw inspiration from various recipes from past contestants and watch previous Food Hero winners share their food story.  
4- Participants can record their entry that best demonstrates their cooking and hosting skills.  
5- They can then upload their video entry and also view submissions by other participants. 



Upon closing of competition on 21st August (three months period to submit entries), a panel comprising of production and creative experts will evaluate the entries based on the participant’s personality, on-screen appeal and their creativity in producing original and engaging content. Top entries will be shortlisted to participate in a series of culinary and travel-related challenges to better evaluate them in ‘live’ scenarios. 



Last year, Ili Sulaiman from Malaysia and Debbie Wong from Hong Kong overcame fierce competition and was crowned Food Hero 2015 champions, joining the likes of TV hosts Sarah Benjamin (Singapore) and Michele Lean (Malaysia) who won the first edition of the competition. 

“The moment I realized I wanted to make a career out of food was probably when I saw Martin Yan on TV and I remember thinking that’s exactly what I want to be. Someone who’s passionate about food and sharing their food story with the world,” said Wong, who has since hosted a number of Food Network productions like Food Wars Asia Season 2 and Kitchen Quickies.


“I took part the first time around and I didn’t get through but being the winner for Food Hero last year has opened many doors for me and given me the confidence to host my own shows and better run my own establishment,” said Sulaiman who owns ‘DISH by Ili’, a food delivery service providing wholesome and nutritious meals in Malaysia.

URC Flour launches nationwide search for the next Filipino bake masters : Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016

Calling all culinary arts students who want to become one of the country’s future bake masters! You can Bake It Happen now! 

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) Flour, one of the country’s top flour millers, is challenging culinary arts students to showcase their bread- and cake-making skills in the Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016.


Sponsored by Yummy Magazine, Masflex Kitchenpro, Masflex Cookware and Kitchenware, Coco Natura, RM Boxes, KitchenAid, Actron Industries, Inc., and Sonlie International, Inc., Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! is a bake-off that celebrates unique and proudly Pinoy flour-based breads and pastries.


Make it happen at the Flourish Pilipinas: Bake it Happen! Nationwide baking competition, where students become future baking masters.

To join the competition, Culinary Arts or Hotel and Management course students are encouraged to submit original recipes in the Breads or Cakes categories.

Baked creations should incorporate a non-functional ingredient and make use of any of the URC Flour brands such as Blend 100 Flour, Continental All-Purpose Flour, Daisy Cake Flour, FibrA+ Whole Wheat Flour, Globe First-Class Flour, My Rose Soft Flour, and Sampaguita Soft Flour.

Shortlisted teams will vie in the Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Visayas/Mindanao and GMA/Luzon regional competitions. These will be held at the University of Mindanao in Davao City and Center for Culinary Arts in Manila, respectively. All finalists will be given a challenge and a surprise ingredient to use during the bake-off.
“We are very excited to once again seek out the most talented student bakers through the Flourish Pilipinas baking competition. With URC Flour brands that cater to every baking need, these future master bakers would surely be able to whip up some of the most fascinating creations to showcase their baking prowess,” said Ellison Lee, URC Flour VP and general manager.
Trophies, certificates, and more than P300,000 worth of prizes await the winners while regional grand champions will also receive internships with one of the country’s prestigious hotels, the Crowne Plaza Hotel and a feature in Yummy Magazine.

Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016 Media Edition



Last June 29, the media announcement of the Flourish Pilipinas: Bake It Happen! Nationwide Baking Competition 2016,  a fun and unique 'Media Edition' competition was held at the Galastars Culinary School at the Pasig City. 

A simple task was to bake Chocolate Cupcakes with Whipping Cream, recipe by Chef Ernest Reynoso Gala.


Ten teams with two members, provided with complete ingredients and essential kitchen and baking equipment, and a secret ingredient to make it. All teams bake it happen! 





The Board of Judges reviewed the cupcakes based on taste, appearance, creativity.


Team 8 was declared as the winner of Universal Robina Corporation "Flourish Pilipinas Bake It Happen" Baking Competition 2016 Media Edition with Pehpot Pineda of Mommy Pephot and Myrns Roman of Enjoying Wonderful World and Arts & Travel Magazine.

Eastwood City Launches Food Artistry


Eastwood City has unwrapped yet another mouthwatering surprise that is sure to excite certified foodies with the launch of Eastwood Food Artistry. 

The newest dining campaign of Eastwood City, aimed to shine the spotlight on the talented chefs behind its newest restaurants, was formally unveiled during star-studded degustation dinner held recently at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel. 

Opening the glitzy gustatory event hosted by Tim Yap was Megaworld First Vice President and Commercial Division Head Kevin L. Tan. 

“Apart from highlighting the talents of our chefs and their masterful creations, Eastwood Food Artistry was also envisioned to inspire up and coming chefs to master their craft and eventually become part of Eastwood City as retail partners,” Tan said during his opening remarks, which was followed by a heartwarming mini-documentary featuring Eastwood City’s most respected and sought-after chefs who also prepared the degustation menu. 

Celebrities and media guests were among the firsts to get a taste of the Eastwood Food Artistry Exclusives—masterful food creations handcrafted and intricately prepared by Eastwood City’s topnotch chefs, which will be available exclusively at participating Eastwood City establishments starting August.

Among the celebrities who attended the exclusive event were Liz Uy, Christian Bautista, Tweetie De Leon, Aubrey Miles, Troy Montero, Phoemela Baranda, Camille Co, Mikhaila Lagdameo-Martinez, Arnold Van Opstal and Carlo Orosa. 

Indulging the guests in the 8-course degustation dinner were Eastwood City’s top chefs including James Torres of Potts Point Café who served Risotto Balls as Hor D’Oeuvers, Hideaki Tohyama and Ben Gon of Sandaime who served the appetizer Volcano Roll, Pat Obia of Eastwood Richmonde Hotel who showcased his Trio of Pinoy Antipasti, Robby Goco of Green Pastures who gave guests a taste of his new creation Mushroom and Kale Paella, Chiloy Santos of Kettle who dished up a delectable serving of Brisket Sisig Taco, Chef Avi Shani who delighted guests with his newest gelato creation Tequila Rose Gelato and Gregory Guy of Cheesecakes by Guy who came out with his three of his signature cheesecakes Sugar-free Queso de Bola, Lemon Cheesecake, and Triple Chocolate.
 

Coinciding with the degustation is the launch of #Eastwood30Days Foodstagram Promo. From August 1-30, 2015, Instagram users can post their most creative photos based on the particular day’s challenge with the hashtag #Eastwood30Days and #EastwoodFoodArtistry. Contestants must follow and tag Eastwood Mall’s Instagram account @eastwoodmall_ for a chance to win exciting prizes.
