TVJ secures trademark for ‘Eat Bulaga!’ name

Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon made an special announcement as they have won the legal battle against the Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) over the trademark ownership of the "Eat Bulaga" name.

TVJ happily announce on their Facebook page earlier today, January 5, 2024, that they won the copyright infringement and unfair competition cases against TAPE, GMA-7.

TVJ announced that they emerged victorious over the trademark battle as the Marikina court dismissed TAPE’s claims of copyright infringement and unfair competition.

The Marikina Regional Trial Court ruled in favor of the hosting trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, collectively known as TVJ, giving them the trademark ownership of “Eat Bulaga” in a case they had filed against Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE).

The court’s ruling states that TAPE Inc. and GMA Network are not entitled to use the trademark, logo or theme song of “Eat Bulaga! “as well as to air episodes without proper permission and authorization.

“Wherefore, judgment is hereby rendered in favor of the plaintiffs (which include TVJ) against the defendants (TAPE and GMA Network),” Sotto read. The court in Marikina also declared that the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) should cancel TAPE’s trademarks for “Eat Bulaga!” and “EB” on all records including its website.

“Moreover, defendants… marami pang binabanggit at lahat in favor sa atin,” affirmed Tito.

Vic summarized the announcement by simply declaring their triumph, “Sa madaling salita… nanalo po tayo,” said Vic as he held back his tears amid the announcement.

“Patunay ito na sinasabi na tayo ang may-ari ng ‘Eat Bulaga,'” Tito said.

"Sa madaling salita, atin talaga ang Eat Bulaga," Vic said before ushering the production team to join them on the stage and sing the show's iconic theme song

The Facebook live concluded with TVJ and the production staff rejoicing over the “Eat Bulaga!” theme song.

The trio extended their gratitude to the Marikina Regional Trial Court, their lawyers, the production staff, family and friends, and to the Lord.

Tito said “Maraming salamat sa iyong pagtangkilik. Maraming salamat sa dasal, at unang-una sa lahat sa Panginoong Diyos. Thank you very much, Lord God.”

The event, which was held at the GMA Kapuso headquarters, was done in celebration of Sight Saving month. The outreach project was also supported by volunteer doctors from integrated phil assoc of optometrists (IPAO).

BUM’s Two New Youth Brand Ambassadors

Young celebrities Miguel Tanfelix, Bianca Umali are now BUM’s new Youth Brand Ambassadors and made contract signing with BUM held last Thursday, July 24, at Annabel’s on Tomas Morato Avenue, Scout Delgado Street.
BUM contract signing with Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali held last Thursday, July 24, at Annabel’s on Tomas Morato Avenue, Scout Delgado Street.
The country’s next top clothing brand, BUM has found another reason to welcome two young brand ambassadors—Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali, GMA artists and are the youth lead stars of the top-rating teleseries titled ‘Niño’ which is aired daily on GMA Kapuso Network after 24 Oras.

“It is but fitting to have the two join the rosters of our young ambassadors because of the image they have created toward the Filipino televiewers. They consistently project wholesome personas,” Rai Lacoste, BUM’s Marketing Officer said.

“Apart from that, both Miguel and Bianca are also considered as today’s Teen Prince and Teen Princess of GMA Telebabad.”

Tanfelix, now 15 years of age was the Young Pagaspas in Kapuso’s other top-rating fantaserye called ‘Mulawin’ in 2004. While Umali, 14, was a former host and performer in ‘Tropang Potchi’ since 2009 till 2013.

BUM Equipment found Miguel and Bianca not only as talented youngstars, but as inspirations for this new generation. Tanfelix rose to stardom via a talent search as his efforts paid off when he made it as one of the finalists and was named First Prince of StarStruck Kids in 2004. Umali, on the other hand, being an orphan didn’t hinder her to fulfill her late parents’ wishes and even if she lives with her grandmother; she has embraced a life of being responsible and independent.

Currently, the two are groomed as a pair and are also working together in another show called ‘Ismol Family’ that airs every Sunday.

BUM Equipment as a brand continually seeks to work with endorsers that create an image of positivity and leave a lasting and affirming impact for its patrons and its captive market, which is the Filipino youth.

For more information about the brand, visit its official website www.bumequipment.com.ph and follow its social media pages on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
