The world is our runway. To be able to walk with grace and beauty, one must be clothed with confidence and strength to face every challenge the world has to offer. In doing so, the power it takes to be fearless in taking on the world is something that has to be done with all the will-power one could gather, including the confidence in being beautiful as you really are.

As Miss World 2013, Megan Young has been a catalyst of women empowerment through championing beauty with a purpose movement. In one of her Instagram posts, she said “I want to feel empowered with or without makeup and not be hard on myself.”

On a random day, Megan Young was casually strolling along and discovered the products of Megan Beauty, and to share it with others, she featured it in her vlog. The brand caught her interest because it was in her namesake. She had bought a peel off mask, eye gel patch, and facial foam wash. Megan had the heart to share the products she bought as she thought it was really effective and had done the job right. 

Later on after posting the said video, Lifestrong Marketing Inc., the company behind Megan Beauty, chanced upon Megan’s vlog and figured she could be the new face of the brand. As a result, a lunch date was set and that’s when they got to know her better which proved sealing the deal was the right choice. Hence, Megan Young was made the new and freshest brand ambassadress of Megan Beauty.

Recently, Shopee PH Beauty Fair event held at Okada Manila, aside from the announcement 2013 Miss World, Megan Young, actress KC Concepcion and blogger-influencers Martha Jante, Kristine Roces and Helen Payawal talked about what they think of Women Empowerment and Breaking Beauty Standards.

The five women shared their personal stories on how they overcame society’s beauty standards, and to encourage Filipina women to do the same.

The event featured three different talk show sessions where the five women shared personal stories on various topics, including how the media has influenced the standards of beauty, their struggles with overcoming society’s expectations of women, and how they managed to achieve success in both their careers and personal lives. Attendees enjoyed a complimentary ride to the event from Grab, the official ride sponsor, as well as a free blow-dry and hair styling session by Creations - a salon by Asia’s Top Model Judge, Lourd Ramos’ salon.

2013 Miss World Megan Young on empowerment and standing up for yourself

As a speaker at the event, Young shared about her journey to being crowned 2013 Miss World, and how the title has since placed her in a position to inspire young women around her.

“Joining Miss World 5 years ago really took me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to be more confident. After being crowned, I realised I was in a position where I had the power to influence young women, and I wanted to do my part to encourage them to stand up for themselves. I used to just shrug off people who say insensitive or hurtful comments, but now call them out and tell them they’re wrong, and I encourage all women to not be afraid to do the same,” shared Young.

Young’s success in her acting career is also a reflection of her commitment to empowering women, choosing only to act in powerful female roles. She currently stars in the drama, The Step Daughters, where she plays a young, fearless woman named Mayumi who changes her destiny by being tenacious and true to herself.

Maybelline’s top beauty influencers shared their stories on being confident

One of Maybelline’s top priorities is to empower women to #MakeItHappen. The brand presented top beauty influencers Martha Jante, Real Asian Beauty (Kristine Roces), and Helen on Fleek (Helen Payawal) talked about their work as influencers and bloggers in the beauty industry. The famous influencers also shared their everyday struggles as women in their field and how they were able to overcome it with the confidence that makeup has been able to give them.

Palmolive brand ambassador, KC Concepcion, on how health can empower women to be their best self

Brand ambassador for Palmolive, KC Concepcion, also shared her own story on how being healthy is as important as being true to oneself. The singer turned actress talked about numerous topics from haircare to fitness, and how her journey with maintaining her health has helped her confidence and enabled her to achieve success in both her career and personal life.

'Ethereal' Miss World Megan Young, the first ever Filipino to win the title, opens the new year for fashion magazine Mega as she graces the cover of its January 2014 issue.

The beauty queen is seen sitting, wearing a cream single-sleeve wrap dress that highlights her shoulder and smokey eyes.

Young was photographed by JC Cerilla. Her cover appearance was styled by Patrick Galang, with Albert Kurniawan and John Valle on hair and makeup, respectively.

The magazine describes Young as "ethereal" and "a beauty with a purpose," having supported several charity events and fundraisers abroad for the victims of typhoon "Yolanda."

She has also been busy promoting other charity works spearheaded by the Miss World foundation.

Young, for her "beauty and purpose" was also recently topped People Asia magazine's "People of the Year" list in its 14th anniversary issue.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, was crowned Miss World 2013 held at the Indonesian resort island of Bali on Saturday.

“I promise to be the best Miss World ever,” Young said after winning the 63rd annual event.

The 23-year-old Filipino-American actress and TV host Megan Young, bested 126 beauty queens from around the world. Young is the first Filipina to win the coveted title in a contest broadcast to more than 180 countries worldwide.

The 23-year-old Filipino-American actress and TV host presented the aura of a Miss World-in-the-making.

 Here's Megan's winning answer to the question on why she should win Miss World:

"Miss World for me treasures the core value of humanity and that guides her into understanding people, why they act the way that they do, how they're living their lives and I will use these core values in my understanding not only in helping others but to show other people how they can understand others, to help others so that as one, together, we shall help society."

Star Magic artist, TV Host Megan Young, is now the Miss World Philippines, bested 25 other contestants and became the Philippine representative to the prestigious Miss World 2013 pageant to be held on September 28, 2013 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Megan Young, 23, from Olongapo City was crowned winner of Miss World Philippines 2013 held on Sunday, August 18 at the Grand Ballroom of the Solaire Resort and Casino-Manila in Pasay City. 

The pageant was hosted by Carla Abellana, KC Montero and Victor Basa, with Gwendoline Ruais and Divine Lee as co-anchors.

During the Question & Answer portion, Megan was asked “Why do you want to be Miss World Philippines?”

She said “Miss World PH is selfless and to be selfless, you need to have a heart. If I win Miss World Philippines, I would give myself wholeheartedly to be of service. Beauty with a heart.”
