PMAP holds 2nd HR Innovation Summit on August 15


The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the preeminent organization of people managers and HR practitioners in the country, will hold the “2nd HR Innovation Summit” at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria (Ortigas Center) on August 15, 2018 (9:00 am to 5:00 pm).

With this year’s theme “HR Next Practices”, this momentous event will feature industry experts and distinguished practitioners to share their knowledge and innovative ideas that will equip organizations in developing employees to thrive in the opportunities and challenges today and in the future.

The line-up of remarkable speakers includes PMAP President Michelle C. Garcia, FPM, HR Director of East-Asia Region SGS Gulf Limited (Regional Operating Headquarters), who will talk about “Revolutionary HR: The Next HR Leadership”; Ms. Amor Maclang, Chief Communications Officer of GeiserMaclang, who will discuss his experience in “Adopting the Blockchain Technology in HR”; Mr. Engelbert T. Camasura, AFPM, President of Asia Select, Inc. (ASI), who will enlighten participants in his talk “Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment”; Mr. Kogie Angeles, Co-Founder/ Vice President of The Office Cowork + Life, who will present “The Gig Economy: How It Impacts the Way We Work”; and Atty. Raul R. Cortez, Legal and Corporate Affairs Director of Microsoft Philippines, who will give a sneak peek of “Telecommuting and Its Implications in the Workplace.”

Aside from the exciting talks, participants will also have the opportunity to be introduced to new products and services from various companies through their exhibit booths at the HR Techxhibit Hall. PMAP also welcome partnerships for this event.

The summit is open to the public and guarantees an interesting and relevant day of learning about HR best practices and innovation to be attended by HRM and business professionals, representatives from the academe, SMEs and industry partners. The Investment fee per delegate is Php3,500.00 for PMAP members and Php3,800 for non-members.

The Philippines today is at the cusp of new and great opportunities.

With the impending rise to power of new national leaders, the emergence of a more vigilant Filipino people, the advent of the ASEAN integration, and overall improvements in various global and national indicators, the challenge is not anymore survival, or development, but to ride the momentum.

Join the 1st iHeaRt PMAP Run

Did you know that 9 of the 10 leading causes of death in the Philippines are health related? Are you aware that just by eating better, making small lifestyle changes and doing moderate activity on most days of the week, we can reduce the risk of many diseases and increase our quality of life?

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the premier organization of HR practitioners and people managers in the country, is advocating health and wellness in the workplace as one of the most important issues that companies need to address today. With this, PMAP has organized an annual nationwide event called National Wellness Day that is being participated by various companies in the country every third Friday of June.

During the National Wellness Day, companies conduct wellness events in their workplaces that includes sponsored healthy lunch and snack; learning sessions on work-life balance, holistic and spirituality; and the 7-Minute PMAP Wellness Moment, a quick wellness activity that involves stretching and meditation done simultaneously across the nation by employees at exactly 3:00 pm. 

On 19 September 2015, the organization will hold the first-ever iHeaRt PMAP fun run at the Camp Aguinaldo Grounds, Quezon City as part of the initiatives of PMAP in promoting workplace wellness. There will be three categories: 3K, 5k and 10k with minimal registration fees of P300, P400 and P500, respectively. Aside from the singlet and race bib, runners will receive cool freebies from sponsors. Also, awesome prizes await all race winners per category.

PMAP to honor outstanding media practitioners with Makatao Awards

Mass Media touches virtually every aspect of our daily lives. It plays a significant role in shaping public perceptions on a variety of important issues, both through the information that is dispensed through them, and through the interpretations they place upon this information.

When journalists or talk show hosts are insightful and judicious in their reporting, citizens can play a more informed role in the many issues and debates that shapes their communities.

For the fourth straight year, the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) is holding the PMAP Makatao Awards for Media Excellence to honor members of the mass media (TV, radio and print) for their outstanding works, columns, features and contributions that enhance public understanding of the role and impact of good people management in both the public and private sector in the country. 

PMAP is a non-stock, not-for-profit professional association of human resource management and industrial relations practitioners with a membership base of around 1,300 corporate and individual members and 23 Chapters across the country. Collectively, the organization has an extended sphere of influence is 11 million strong, around 6 million of which are qualified voters nationwide. 

Employees based in the Philippines are invited to cast their vote and help PMAP choose this year’s winners.

Thirteen (13) awards will be given namely: TV Station of the Year; Radio Station of the Year; Newspaper of the Year; Best TV Public Affairs Program; Best TV Public Affairs Program Host; Best TV News Program; Best TV Female Newscaster; Best TV Male Newscaster; Best Radio Public Affairs Program; Best Radio Public Affairs Program Host; Best Radio News Program; and Best Radio Newscaster; Best Columnist.

Through this national award, PMAP hopes to encourage continued coverage of people management and other related people issues that promotes a harmonious relationship between employers and their employees. 

The following criteria were used in selecting nominations and judging for the Makatao Awards for Media Excellence competitions. All criteria were given equal weight. Nominated individuals and programs/ works must: 

1. Advance public knowledge and understanding of HR professionals and people managers, the    profession or the issues that they impact;

2. Engaged with or featured HR professionals/ people managers (PMAP or non-PMAP members);

3. Cover all sides of the people management issues fairly;

4. Effectively explain how sound people practice or issue impacts the community or country; 

5. Accurately describe or present people management or issue; and 

6.  Clearly describe the HR professionals or people manager's role in nation-building. 

The PMAP PR and Publicity Committee supervised the nomination and selection process of the shortlisted nominee. An email blast containing the list of nominees was sent to all PMAP member companies and to non-members through PMAP’s social media accounts to cast in their votes through. Winners will be awarded during the PMAP Awards ceremonies this coming November.
