Shopee is The Most Tweeted E-Commerce Brand in the Philippines this 2021

This year, Shopee takes the second spot for the most talked-about brand in the country with topics such as Shopee’s K-pop acts and mega campaigns garnering the most buzz

With its string of successful campaigns and relatable social media content, Shopee is the most tweeted e-commerce brand in the country according to Twitter for 2021.

The leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan took the second spot overall in Twitter’s ten most tweeted brands list in the Philippines, which was released as part of the latter’s “Best of Tweets 2021” awards announced on December 14, 2021. The annual rundown aims to celebrate and recognize outstanding brands for their groundbreaking campaigns and engaging digital content.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “We are pleased to be recognized as one of the most talked-about brands in the country by Twitter. As we welcome a new year, Shopee will push for excellence and increase engagement satisfaction not only in-app but on other platforms as well. This coming 2022, we will continue to improve our services to better tend to the needs of our consumers, sellers, and brand partners.”

As a platform that prioritizes making online shopping safe, fun, and engaging for everyone, Shopee regularly engages with its users on social media through relatable posts with timely content. During big campaigns, Shopee dominated the Twitter world with the appearance and performance of K-pop idols, which resulted in being in the top trending hashtags locally and nationwide.

Shopee also drives online conversations with the anticipation that comes with its big campaigns, TV commercials with Shopee brand ambassadors, and TV specials where users can win big raffle prizes, watch performances from their favorite celebrities or K-pop idols, and get the best deals and promos they can instantly ‘add to cart’ and check out during the show.

Successful Campaigns such as 9.9 Super Shopping Day and 11.11 - 12.12 Big Christmas Sale

Shopee continues to provide convenience and greater cost savings for its consumers with its yearly anticipated double-digit campaigns. The recent Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day and 11.11 - 12.12 Big Christmas Sale achieved multiple milestones, including 9.5 million items sold in the first hour of 9.9 in Metro Manila alone, over 270 million plays on Shopee Prize last 11.11, and a 14x surge in Shopee Mall orders during 12.12. More and more consumers also made Shopee’s integrated mobile wallet ShopeePay their preferred payment method with over 1.5 million top-ups for 12.12 alone.

With its continuous efforts to tailor and adapt to users’ shopping needs, Shopee now also ranks 3rd on YouGov’s Global Best Brand 2021 list in the Philippines, the only e-commerce platform to make it to the list.

This is part of a larger digital video campaign, which includes the debut of Niche creators Marc Morgan and Gwri Panner in Asia to develop original Vine content for NESCAFÉ Philippines that will launch on @NESCAFEPH.

This is the first time a brand in Asia Pacific is using Niche, a network of over 20,000 social media creators. ABS-CBN announces Angel Locsin will no longer do the DARNA Movie Due to Health Reasons

Angel Locsin will no longer be doing Star Cinema’s DARNA movie as ABS-CBN’s Public Relations team officially made an announcement tonight that due to health reasons.

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE “DARNA” MOVIE WITH ANGEL LOCSIN

It is with deep regret that we announce that ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and Angel Locsin have mutually agreed that Angel will no longer do the “Darna” movie due to health reasons. Because of her passion, dedication, and commitment to the project, she underwent various rigorous training regimens for two years. Unfortunately, this led her to developing a disc bulge in her spine. This then limits her from doing strenuous activities such as stunts, liftings, and the usage of harness, all of which will be required of her for the action scenes in the film. Aside from that, she will need to undergo rehabilitationand treatment.

And so while we have envisioned her to do the iconic Filipino heroine, Angel’s health and safety are both our primary concern. Hence, the decision.

Fans need not worry. They can still look forward to seeing her in a movie that she is currently shooting with Vilma Santos. Angel’s physical condition does not prevent her from finishing the said project.

Again, we sincerely thank Angel for her hard work and pray for her recovery.

— Kane Errol Choa
Head, Corporate Communications

Angel also made an Instagram post:

therealangellocsinIt was a painful and hard decision to make, but we had to prioritize my health and welfare. Because of that, despite the two year preparations and rigorous training, I regret to inform everyone that I can no longer play Darna :( Production has to start filming already, and my body is not in the right condition to do anything too physically strenuous. It is only fair for production as I don't want to be the cause of delay or problems because of my recurring back injury. Rest assured that I am still undergoing treatment so I can come back stronger and hopefully, be your superhero again :) Thank you ABS CBN for looking after what's best for me and my health, especially to Tita Malou Santos. Thank you Tito Boy Abunda, Roxy Liquigan, & the rest of the Tonight with Boy Abunda team for giving me the chance to explain my situation in your show. To all Darna fans, I want to thank you for all the love and support you've given me. I will forever treasure that. And I hope and pray that you will give the same amount of love and support to the new Darna. Rest assured that ABS CBN has already chosen the perfect person to fill in Darna's boots. :) Again, thank you😘

Join Epson's #BrightenUp and win Home 3D Gaming System

Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) is inviting the public to enhance their gaming experience by winning a full HD, Epson 3D home projector.

Twitter users will have a chance to win an Epson EH-TW550 3D home projector and a Sony Playstation 4 game console by following Epson’s Twitter account (@EpsonPH), and tweeting their answer to the question, “What do you do to add color to your life when life gets a little dull?” Entries must use the #BrightenUp hashtag and must be publicly visible to be valid.
“Epson is all about pushing the boundaries of technology and exceeding the vision of our customers – not just from the business sector or the academe, but also for entertainment enthusiasts. Customers will enjoy larger than life images and leap-from-the-screen excitement through the clear, crisp colors of our full-HD 3D home projectors,” said Lyn Lizarondo, Product Manager for Visual Instruments of Epson Philippines.
“By answering just one simple question, our Twitter followers have the chance to experience next-level gaming and movies through our 3D home projectors that are perfect for home entertainment,” added Lizarondo. The contest runs from June 23 to August 25, 2015.

Through Epson’s proprietary 3LCD technology, Epson projectors are able to project colors three times brighter than the 1-chip projectors of competing brands. Epson advises that aside from knowing the usual lumens specification of projectors (it usually just refers to ‘white lumens’), discerning customers should ask for the color lumens (or color brightness) to determine the real color brightness that their projectors are able to provide.

The full terms and conditions of the sweepstakes can be found at www.epson.com.ph/brightenup.

Ruffles Bags’ grand fans day for Kathryn Bernardo trends worldwide

Kathryn Bernardo, the young Kapamilya actress has proven her star power all over again!

Kathryn's grand fans day held last November 23 at SM North EDSA Sky Dome, was the 4th worldwide trending topic and ranked 3rd in the Philippine setting, with 41 thousand tweets.

What makes it even more amazing is that at least 1,400 people flocked to the venue at the same time viewers were glued to their TV sets for the Pacquiao-Algieri boxing match.

“To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful like our Queen!” Kathryn’s fans, the KathAsianiatics, tweeted.

Another fan, Margarette (@bernxarxokathhh) said, “Super saya kahapon! Sulit talaga!”

Kathryn was all smiles, greeting her fans, performing two songs and even giving away trendy Ruffles bags to lucky recipients.

The event ended the Ruffles Bags promo – where shoppers get three free admission tickets to the Grand Fans’ Day for every minimum P600 purchase of the product -- with a big bang. Its success has inspired Ruffles Bags to plan more activities for their idol Kathryn and her fans.

#NoToSofitel and #BoycottSofitelPH trending continues, UNTV37 Boycotts Sofitel Manila for Discrimination

Now on its second week, the campaign #NoToSofitel and #BoycottSofitelPH have been enjoying the top trending in twitter worldwide, and have created a louder buzz on facebook and instagram.

UNTV has launched a campaign that challenges its supporters to take part in.

At appoximately 9:17 PM (PHT) on July 19, 2014, #NoToSofitelDay7 and #BoycottSofitelPHDay7 start to fill the 3rd and 4th spots on Twitter’s Worldwide Trends.

The campaign stemmed from the report received by UNTV37 Chief Executive Office, Kuya Daniel Razon, that Hotel Sofitel Manila dropped the station from its channel listings.

This, for no apparent reason.

This prompted Razon to call on UNTV37 supporters to launch a boycott against the hotel for clear discrimination of the station – a free channel that should be enjoying any and all channel listings in local and cable TV providers.

Soon after the launching of the campaign, issues after issues against said hotel were brought to the public’s attention.

Age discrimination

Earlier in June, distinguished Election lawyer, Atty. Romulo Macalintal, filed a case against Sofitel when it refused to grant him 20% senior citizens discount on February 8, 2014, while he was dining with a friend at the Sofitel Le Bar Restaurant.

Macalintal claims that this is a violation of his rights as a senior citizen and that such move by said hotel is a clear case of age discrimination.

Social Status discrimination

Another issue that was brought to public attention is about the two nannies who were denied entry to the hotel’s buffet area just because they were wearing “scrub suits.”

This apparently happened in December 2012, when said nannies of one of the guests in a wedding reception held in Sofitel were not allowed to enter the buffet area where they were about to dine because they were in their nanny uniforms.

Said guest, who is also an Accor Advantage Plus member, cried social status discrimination pertaining to the incident.

Accor Advantage Plus is a program that offers Accor hotel customers advantages and rewards, wherein one of its member-hotels is Sofitel.

Racial discrimination

Another incident was the refusal of Sofitel for a Filipino teenager, who was a hotel guest, to enter because the security said that “food bought from outside is not allowed.”

This happened in November 2013. The young man who didn’t really enjoy the food in the hotel bought food from a fastfood chain; but upon entering the hotel, the security guard didn’t allow him entry and told him to just eat the food in his car.

The following day, one of the young man’s companion saw a number of foreigners entering the hotel with “food bought from outside” right in front of the hotel security.

Good thing this companion brought his smart phone and was able to video the whole thing. But when he showed the video to the Duty Manager, all that was said was “pagsasabihan ko na lang po ang guard” [I will just tell about this to the guard].

No sooner than he said it, another group of foreigners came in with “food bought from outside”. A glaring case of racial discrimination.

Media discrimination

And just recently, this action by Sofitel against UNTV37 happened. Razon and UNTV supporters cried media discrimination.

In its official statement, Sofitel reasoned “system-limited” facility as the basis of them removing the station in its channel listing.

Netizens who support UNTV37, on the other hand, stressed that a 5-star hotel with a limited system to carry a local free-tv channel is beyond any sane man’s comprehension.

They claimed that a small eatery with a rundown TV set is able to receive transmission of UNTV37, so why can’t a 5-star hotel, with supposed high technology and state-of-the-art facilities?

For them, this is simply absurd. And very unacceptable.

Sofitel also stated that it will consider re-instating the UNTV Channel if this is a request from their guests.

From UNTV37 side, however, the fact that the station formally requested Sofitel to include it in the channel list is already a guest request and feedback.

The event conducted by the station in Sofitel costs more than a hundred guests. Therefore, Sofitel’s lack of action to reinstate UNTV37 is evidently unjustified.

For UNTV, this is what the campaign is all about. It is about the station’s indignation of the absurd, its refusal to accept the unacceptable, and its rejection to excuse such unjustifiable act.

The station maintained that discrimination in any shape or form does not, and should not, have room in a society that upholds democracy.

And the #NoToSofitel and #BoycottSofitelPH trending continues.

Within just 30 minutes of its first mention, #NoToSofitelDay12 and #BoycottSofitelPHDay12 climb up the 4th and 5th spots of Twitter's Philippines Trends.
