Asian Artists Agency, Inc. (AAAI) trains potential stars

To be a celebrity is not something that can be achieved overnight. For anyone who wishes to make a dent in the industry, he has to pray, work hard, and wait for the right time to come.

Not all who aspire to be a star can become one. Some have their destiny written in the stars while others have exhausted all the necessary measures but to no avail. What does it take to be a star? Are talents and good looks enough tickets to earn a spot in showbiz? Can we rely on the intangibles like the X-factor, the ‘it,’ the charisma, the arrival, and the appeal to guarantee the staying power of an artist?

The Asian Artists Agency, Inc. (AAAI), headed by Boy Abunda, is an artist management company that aims to develop and market talents Asia wide.

AAAI continues to discover potential artists who will shine their way to stardom in movie, television, commercials, sports, theater, and other entertainment arena. The process starts with auditions where aspiring artists showcase their talents in singing, dancing, acting, and even hosting.

If they successfully make the cut, the new artists will undergo rigorous training workshops for several weeks to hone their talents in singing, dancing, and acting. They have group classes and one-on-one sessions where they are taught the essentials of performance in order to develop their full potentials as artists.

They are mentored by experts in the industry such as Annie Quintos of The CompanY and Jerwin Nicomedez (Voice Coaches), Mastermind (Dance Coaches), Angeli Bayani (Acting Coach), UST Music Professor Tonton Africa, and Boy Abunda (Hosting).

“I learned a lot from the workshops. I trained in acting under Ms. Angeli Bayani. She motivated me to use my imagination and emotions in interpreting my roles. Dapat daw maging malinaw ang gagawin at nararamdaman ko in a given scene. With Mastermind, my dance coaches, they told me to just enjoy and do not think too much about the steps,” shares aspiring artist Aiana Juarez.

“I am lucky to join workshops in singing and dancing. The experiences boost my self-confidence and I am now using my learnings during performances,” says Miko Juarez of the singing duo Miko and Gab. “You have to work hard if you want to succeed in showbiz. I am grateful to be given the chance to attend workshops that helped me improve my talents as a performer. Kaya I told myself na dapat galingan ko sa mga workshops,” adds Gab Umali.

“Swerte ko po at napunta ako sa Asian Artists Agency. Nakapag-workshops po ako na nakatulong ng malaki sa akin bilang miyembro ng Hashtag,” Wilbert Ross says.

Selena Cabusas enthuses, “I enjoyed taking the workshops. I explored my capacity as an artist. My trainings will guide me in my future projects.”

Globe announces highly-successful pilot run of Digital Thumbprint Program

The Globe Digital Thumbprint Program is a school-based educational program for high school students covering the understanding of online connectivity and the importance of responsible digital citizenship.

High school students listen intently to a Globe volunteer during a Digital Thumbprint Program workshop recently implemented in Manila Science High School.

Leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom announces the highly-successful pilot run of the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), the award-winning brainchild of Optus and Singtel first deployed in Australia.

It was designed to increase high school students’ knowledge of digital citizenship and cyber safety by taking a critical look at their online behavior and helping them develop insights into the influences of the online world and the choices they are making.

The Globe Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) aims to promote the truth and benefits of a wonderful digital national for the Philippines through awareness and education of online security, etiquette, empowerment and positive digital citizenship for all.

“By empowering a generation of students with digital savvy and leadership skills, Globe is giving them a way to understand the individual impact of their decisions and actions as well as enhances their view of how technology can be used to create a #WonderfulPH,” said Fernando Esguerra, Director of Globe Corporate Social Responsibility.

“The youth is greatly represented in the online community. Thus, to prepare them for the immense benefits that a digital nation brings, we want them to learn how to discern proper online behavior, be aware of technology’s impact on their social activities, and develop skills on how to use technology to help them achieve life goals,” he added

An assessment conducted by global consulting firm Karrikins Group of Australia showed that DTP had a very high impact among students of the two pilot schools ---- Dasmarinas East National High School in Dasmarinas, Cavite and Sico 1.0 National High School in San Juan, Batangas --- particularly on the topic of privacy and security settings on social media platforms.

“Key outcomes are increased knowledge, shift in the behavior of Filipino youth to improve their digital safety and security, and increased digital responsibility and etiquette. Leadership and empowerment outcomes also showed a positive attitudinal shift. With the success of its first period of delivery, Globe can be confident they can increase the reach and impact of the program at scale,” Karrikins said in its report.

The pilot reached over 2,280 students with more than half or 1,266 students and 36 teachers participating in the survey. Based on the results, 96.7% of the students expressed satisfaction and enjoyment from the DTP workshops; 94.4% of students found the workshops relevant; and 100% of teachers said that their students learned something important and that the workshops were grade-level appropriate. The program also received a Net Promoter Score of 91.7 from the teachers who said they would recommend it to other schools.

The three DTP workshops use captivating, classroom-appropriate case studies and activities to stimulate and challenge. Digital Insight covers concepts on information security and online business models; Digital Impact focuses on the impact students have on themselves and others, including how to help friends who may be facing anti-social activity; and Digital Ambition helps equip students with strategies on how to use technology to aid rather than distract from their ambitions.

Karrikins was commissioned by Globe to conduct an evaluation of DTP effectiveness and impact to ensure that the program is able to deliver the highest quality education and behavioral change both online and offline.

To nominate a high school for the program, please email bridgecom@globe.com.ph.

FUJIFILM “Instax and Crafts” shares creative and exciting ways to preserve memories

FUJIFILM Instax launches the most exciting way you can preserve life’s best moments through FUJIFILM biggest DIY event this summer - “Instax and Crafts” held at the Ayala Malls Market! Market! Activity Center last Saturday, April 9.

The digital age and social media culture has vastly changed the way millennials preserve and keep their memories. Instead of photo albums, today’s tech savvy generation simply upload photos in their blogs and social media sites. Once uploaded or stored in their computer’s memory drive, however, these photos are left forgotten after some time. While convenient, this has inevitably created nostalgia for tangible keepsake of one’s most memorable moments.

FUJIFILM Philippines, Inc.’s Instax has changed the way we use and display our photos through its trendy Instax cameras and colorfully-designed Instax films. More and more millennials have been keen in preserving and displaying their Instax photos.

At the “Instax and Crafts” workshop, guests and Instax enthusiasts spend an afternoon of arts and crafts workshops with Mikko Sumulong of I Try DIY and Marielle Nadal-Reyes of Craft MNL, while indie folk band The Ransom Collective entertained the crowd with their musical performance. Event attendees learned different and creative ways of how they can keep and showcase their photos through DIY greeting cards and paper-die cut mobile.

Takuya Maeda, FUJIFILM division head for electronic and photo imaging  and Janeena Chan (hosting the event) during the "Instax ans Crafts" workshop held at the Market! Market! Mall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, April 9, 2016.

FUJIFILM division head for electronic and photo imaging Takuya Maeda shared “There is a certain kind of joy at looking at one’s photos—more so, if it’s something you can hold on to like a printed photograph. We realized that millennials not only enjoy seeing their favorite memories on Instax prints, they also enjoy displaying them and sharing them with friends and loved ones. Through ‘Instax and Crafts’, we hope that they can see that there are many ways on how they can display and preserve these memories.”

And more exciting and fun surprise at the “Instax and Crafts” at Market! Market! marked the launch of the new exciting colors --- red and white --- of the Instax Hello Kitty camera --- and the new Hello Kitty film.

To make this summer even more fun-filled, Instax introduces their summer packages. Instax fans can now avail of their favorite Instax products with FUJIFILM Keep the Summer Fun Alive with Instax and enjoy great savings when you buy any of the trendy and reliable Instax models like Instax Mini 7s, Mini 8, Hello Kitty Mini 8, Mini 70, Instax Wide 300 and Instax Share printer.

With FUJIFILM’s 80-year history and expertise in photographic film manufacturing, making great memories, printing those Instax moments and then transforming them into works of art becomes even more pleasurable.

The “Instax and Crafts” event is supported by Photoline, Picture City, Paper Blush, Maped, Elmer’s Glue, Artline, and Kettle Corn.

Express your perfectly imperfect self through Bensimon sneakers

“A blank canvas has unlimited possibilities.” - -from a famous author.

Lucky for you, that’s what you’ll get when you join this year’s Bensimon DIY workshop – a blank canvas. What do you do with a blank canvas? Anything. Paint it, stamp it, bleach, or even embroider – you can do absolutely anything creatively possible with a pair of Bensimon canvas sneakers.

Bensimon is a Parisian heritage brand that was launched in the Philippines in 2013. Made of all-natural cotton-canvas and rubber, jetsetters around the world always bring a pair of Bensimon wherever they go.

What makes Bensimon the perfect footwear choice is actually the fact that they are imperfect – giving them the vintage look, which is very much like the French lifestyle, anchored not on perfection but on simplicity and elegance.

Bensimon is all about individuality and uniqueness. Produced in EU and dyed in France, no two pairs of Bensimon are ever alike – which was what made last year’s intimate Bensimon DIY a big hit. It totally captured the brand’s identity of being perfectly imperfect, just like every individual.

This year, creative junkies from the media opened the Bensimon DIY series held at CommonThread Power Plant Mall last March 26. With the artistic support of Craft MNL, they got their hands dirty, literally, while trying to make masterpieces out of canvas sneakers! The result, of course, was stupendous. Nothing can be more beautiful than your own work of art.

But it gets better. What was previously opened only to the media will now be available for all you sneakerheads whose outlet of expression is your footwear. Unleash your creativity and customize your very own one-of-a-kind sneakers by joining the Bensimon DIY Series: Dream-it-yourself, do-it-yourself!

For every purchase of Bensimon sneakers from March 24 to April 25, you will be entitled to a free DIY workshop session. Make sure to get your pair from any of the following participating stores – CommonThread (Greenbelt and Power Plant), Rustan's (Gateway, Makati, Alabang Town Center and Shangrila), SM Aura and SM Makati – to get a workshop invite. You can choose your canvas from a wide array of colors that will definitely pop this summer.

Leading this fun activity will be Craft MNL and Googly Gooeys so get those creative juices flowing already!

Be ready to experience making fabric textures, marbling, embroidery, painting and stamping.

Get your Bensimon sneakers now and join us at the Bensimon DIY workshop simultaneously happening at Common Thread Greenbelt and Power Plant Mall on April 25th! See you there!
