Trade show giants PHILBEX Cebu and Cebu Auto Show to unlock the future of Cebu

From the recently-inaugurated Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which demonstrated the remarkable genius of Filipino architectural ingenuity, all the way to the pioneering series of construction and transportation projects underway such as the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway and its first-ever LRT subway-elevated system, Cebu is undoubtedly ushering an unprecedented economic mobility in the realm of construction and transportation.

Coinciding perfectly with the heightened spirit of enthusiasm surrounding both trade industries, Worldbex Services International – the country’s leading events and expositions organizer – is proud to present two back-to-back shows that will boost and augment the course of progress being undertaken by the region.

Now on its 16th year, the Philippine Building and Construction Exposition (PHILBEX) Cebu 2018 is set to happen on September 13 to 16, from 10:00am to 8:00pm at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall. Meanwhile, opening only a day apart is the Cebu Auto Show (CAS) 2018. Running on its 11th edition, CAS will open its doors to the public on September 14 to 16, from 10:00am to 8:00pm at the SM Seaside Sky Hall.

Unveiling the future of Cebuano living

PHILBEX Cebu may be the last regional leg of the iconic WORLDBEX but it certainly has no intention of holding back as it envisions to deliver an equally impactful and productive show. Taking after the guiding theme for all WORLDBEX 2018 shows, this year’s PHILBEX Cebu concerns itself with “Shaping Innovations Toward Sustainability”.

Following the success of its 2017 show which housed 105 booths across the wide expanse of the Cebu Trade Hall, this year’s PHILBEX Cebu is set to unveil over 120 booths and close to 80 exhibitors composed of both local exhibitors and foreign participants alike from countries such as China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore – all of whom are expected to showcase product and service innovations that are both cutting-edge and efficient.

Aside from presenting an extensive line-up of exhibiting companies, also anticipated to make an impression on this year’s show attendees are PHILBEX Cebu’s event highlights. Among the must-see fixtures include the Architect’s Gallery. A gathering of the region’s top architects and their respective firms, among the participants to present the latest trends and design perspectives from the industry are Abadia Architects and Designers, Archiglobal Inc., Nueast, Arkitecture, Pont Architectural + Design Studio, Philippine Institute of Architects Cebu Chapter, and the United Architects of the Philippines.

Also not to be missed are the Interior Designer’s Gallery which is presented in partnership with the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers – VisMin Chapter, the PHILBEX MiniCons, and the 3rd Projéto Cebu Furniture Design Competition which the entrants for this year will be tasked to create a design for a studio-type condominium unit that will focus on both the wellbeing and learning efficiency of the student-inhabitants.

As WORLDBEX gears up to usher in its Silver Anniversary, its decided move towards increased awareness and proactive perspectives as evidenced by PHILBEX 2018 affirms its dedication to build a brighter future for the entire nation as a whole.

Redefining leisure and productivity

Recognizing the growing demand among automotive consumers for vehicles that live up to their increasingly active lifestyles as well as their entrepreneurial agenda, this year’s Cebu Auto Show, which is also the final regional leg of MIAS 2108, will drive around the theme of “Work and Play”.

From vehicles that are especially designed to cater to businesses as well as the rigorous schedules on-the-go professionals to the latest automotive releases that are meant to cater to the most discerning travelers and adventurers, CAS 2018 is guaranteed to cater to a wide variety of consumers and automotive enthusiasts.

Set to showcase a total of 44 booths, this year’s edition of CAS also boasts of an extensive range of product categories as well as an excitable roster of event highlights which include the much-awaited Custom and Classic Car competition, the Diecast car model swap meet, exhibitions from top car brands, and of course, an impressive motor bike display.

More than just a market place for automotive products, CAS has come to be a pillar of the Cebu automotive industry as it ultimately serves to elevate the means of transportation of the people. In empowering the region’s automotive industry, CAS also contributes significantly in the collective development of the region.

This season, Cebu is expected to witness a dynamic economic convergence that will truly bolster the upward growth of two of its most prominent trade industries. Don’t miss out on the biggest and most anticipated expos of the year – PHILBEX Cebu and CAS 2018!

PHILBEX & TLEX 2018: Elevating the way we build and travel

Recognizing the boundless prospects and world-class caliber of the region’s construction and design industry, Worldbex Services International (WSI) – the country’s leading events and expositions organizer – in a game changing move, introduced the first-ever Philippine Building and Construction Expo Davao in 2014 – a regional franchise of the company’s iconic WORLDBEX in Manila. More recently, WSI in its bid to empower the region’s travel and tourism sector, introduced the first-ever Travel and Leisure Expo Davao in 2017 with considerable acclaim from both consumers and industry professionals alike.

This year, WSI picks up exactly where it left off as it announces the return of its highly anticipated trade shows in the region. Happening back to back this May at the SMX Convention Center at the third floor of SM Lanang Premier is the 4th PHILBEX Davao and the excitable 2nd edition of TLEX Davao. Highly regarded for delivering no less than topnotch and all-inclusive trade events, WSI’s back-to-back shows are expected to stir up a flurry of promising B2B opportunities. Meanwhile, its diverse presentation promises consumers convenient and extensive access to a wide array of products and services.

Building for the future

Last year, incumbent Mayor Sara Duterte praised PHILBEX Davao for its timely contribution for the region’s rapidly expanding construction industry. In which she claims that “[PHILBEX Davao] will be a good opportunity for everyone in the industry to acquire new skills and be updated on the latest innovations and technologies in the field to help raise the standard of the city’s construction industry and find feasible, long-term solutions to design and construction challenges for a stronger, sturdier, and more progressive Philippines.”

Last year's visitors were hyped with back-to-back PHILBEX TLEX Davao.

Now on its fourth year, PHILBEX Davao aims to deliver a spectacular show and affirm its position as the region’s biggest and most comprehensive construction and design trade expo. In line with WSI’s overall direction for the sector this 2018, PHILBEX Davao will take after the theme of the recently-concluded WORLDBEX 2018.

In “Shaping Innovations Toward Sustainability”, this year’s PHILBEX Davao carries through the vision of encouraging the industry to examine the need to elevate the technological aspect of the region’s construction and design practice while also taking into account the need to incorporate environmental preservation strategies. It is this central element which will be addressed and tackled by close to 95 exhibitors from the region and all over the Philippines as well as countries such as China and Indonesia.

In numbers, PHILBEX Davao 2018 is poised to impress as it reports an increased exhibitor count of 219 booths and a total exhibit area which surpasses last year’s 4,480sqm estimate. Indeed, this year’s show is expected to be PHILBEX Davao’s most groundbreaking installment yet.

Apart from an comprehensive showcase of the latest and most innovative products and services, among the must-see event highlights at PHILBEX Davao 2018 include the Architect’s Gallery, the Interior Designer’s Gallery, the Worldbex Lab exhibit, the PHILBEX MiniCons, the Philippine Institute of Interior Designer’s Mini Talk Show, and the 2ndProjeto Davao Furniture Design Competition.

Travel in style as you visit TLEX Davao 2018

Inspiring travels and beyond

Following its successfully debut last year, TLEX Davao returns to arouse the spirit of adventure among the people of Davao. Centering on the theme of “Excite. Explore. Experience”, the 2nd TLEX Davao seeks to inspire people to discover the world of travel as it brings within reach the widest array of top-rated and accredited travel and leisure brands.

Attesting to the high-demands of the region for quality tourism products and services, this year’s TLEX Davao reports a remarkable increase in its show statistics. From last year’s booth and exhibitor count of 68 and 50 respectively, TLEX Davao is set to house 90 booths as it welcomes more than 70 exhibitors – expanding its exhibit area from 1,263sqm to 1,500sqm in total.

From travel agencies, airlines, and hotels to resorts, couriers, cruise lines, and shipping companies, visitors may also expect a range of exclusive travel promos throughout the four-day travel show. Also not to be missed are the series of pocket events and activities that will be hosted by Visit Davao Summer Festival to engage visitors and promote Davao as a travel and leisure destination.

“TLEX Davao, on its first run, seeks to foster a strong sense of adventure by bringing within reach a wide range of travel and leisure products along with an exciting line-up of tourism-related events and programs. And we are optimistic that this is only the beginning of bigger things to come for the region’s tourism and hospitality industry,” enthuses WSI Founding Chairman Joseph Ang.

Though still in its infancy, TLEX Davao has come to assume a significant position in the region as a top-grade venue for all things travel and tourism. More than just about empowering the region’s reputation as a tourism hub, TLEX Davao ultimately aims to enhance the development of Davao’s economic sectors by way of improving its travel and transit logistics industry.

Hailed as one of the fastest growing cities in the world, Davao in all its robust potentiality has been demonstrating quite an unprecedented economic growth for the past few years. With the return of PHILBEX and TLEX Davao, two of the region’s most promising industry sectors can expect to benefit from the insights and networking opportunities that is in-store for visitors and exhibitors alike.

PHILBEX and TLEX Davao 2018 is happening on May 10 to 13, from 11am to 7pm at the SMX Convention Center Davao located at the third floor of the SM Lanang Premier.

From construction to cars: “Build, Build, Build” Program set to thrive at MIAS 2018

Time and again, Worldbex Services International (WSI) – the country’s biggest events and expositions organizer – proves its unrivalled capacity in stimulating economic productivity with the recently-concluded WORLDBEX 2018. Following in the footsteps of its groundbreaking installments in the past, this year’s WORLDBEX had once again broken new grounds as it welcomed close to 180,000 visitors – transcending last year’s visitor count of 170,000.

As the country’s biggest construction event draws closer to its Silver Anniversary, attendees and exhibitors alike significantly benefitted from the dynamic B2B opportunities that unfolded during the widely successful trade event – a development that openly complements the ongoing “Build, Build, Build” Program of the current administration.

Drawing from the same objective, WSI picks up the pace in realizing the vast economic possibilities that abound as it gears up to deliver another highly anticipated trade event that will serve to augment the country’s plight towards infrastructure development. Hailed as the biggest and most awaited car show in the country, the Manila International Auto Show is set to return on April 5 to 8, from 10:00am to 10:00pm at the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM), WTCMM Northwing, and the Philippine Trade Training Center.

This time around, fueling the direction for this year’s MIAS is its strong intent to focus on the dual nature of today’s vehicles. Through the theme of “Work & Play”, this year’s MIAS will be all about showcasing a wide array of cars and other automotive innovations that will elevate not only the way people travel but also, the way companies do business.

To date, MIAS has noted a 38% increase on its exhibiting companies and a whopping 60% increase on the anticipated car and motorcycle displays which is in part a result of the 16% increase in venue of this year’s show. Moreover, apart from boasting of over 200 exhibiting companies and over 400 car and motorcycle display, MIAS is thrilled to announce a new addition to its roster of event highlights – the Truck Pavilion which will be located at the WTCMM Northwing.

Taking cue from the “Build, Build, Build” Program, MIAS believes that vehicular and automotive development play just as crucial a role in actualizing the planned expansion and growth in the infrastructure sector. As such, attendees can expect a high percentage of commercial vehicles on display at this year’s show.

Among the must-see exhibitors at MIAS 2018 is FOTON, an international automotive company which designs and manufactures trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles, and even agricultural machinery. At this year’s show, FOTON is expected to unveil the FOTON Tornado C, a Cummins-powered light duty transport vehicle best suitable for construction businesses.

From passenger cars that can double as Transport Network Vehicle Services to commercial vehicles that bear features as luxurious as executive sedans, this year’s MIAS is all about highlighting the multi-functionality and flexibility of today’s vehicles. Furthermore, this is attested by the fact that around 40% of this year’s exhibitors primarily deal with commercial vehicles.

MIAS 2018 is expected to bridge the gap between various industries by providing business owners and investors with an extensive access to the world’s leading automotive brands. Likewise, it serves to open up the possibilities for automotive companies to foster connections across other sectors. Indeed, the optimistic and ambitious “Build, Build, Build” program finds a fitting platform in MIAS 2018.

Now on its 14th year, MIAS remains to be the most significant automotive event in the country for car enthusiasts and industry players alike! As this year’s show centers on the theme of “Work & Play”, MIAS 2018 invites everyone to take part in a different kind of automotive experience; one wherein the boundaries between leisure and progress collide to create a never-before-seen spectacle of automotive evolution. WORLDBEX 2018 was held in three mega venues

Now on its 23rd year, the Philippine World Building and Construction Expo (WORLDBEX) sustains its outstanding streak as it opens its doors to a record-breaking number of local and international exhibitors. Plus, an increase in its total exhibition space with the addition of the 2,500sqm wide Northwing hall of the World Trade Center which house over 120 booths.

Officially opening its doors last March 14, this year’s WORLDBEX is the show’s biggest installment yet as it is currently being held simultaneously in the three mega venues of the World Trade Center Metro Manila, the Philippine Trade Training Center, and the SMX Convention Center Manila. With all three venues combined, this year’s WORLDBEX encompasses a total of 37,100sqm of show area and an aggregate of 1,500 booths by both domestic and foreign players of the construction sector.

In turn, WORLDBEX 2018 has noted a 25% increase in international exhibitors, a 12% increase in local exhibitors, and a 20% increase in total number of booths. Signifying something far beyond mere showmanship, the expansion undergone by WORLDBEX is a brimming testament of the show’s thriving ascendancy as a global force. And the same could be said about its decision to adopt the theme of “Shaping Innovations Toward Sustainability” for its 2018 installment.

As revealed by Worldbex Services International’s (WSI) Founding Chairman Joseph Ang, “Deliberately conceived to parallel the growing concern of the international community with regard to the need to develop ingenious yet mindful solutions, our theme for this year’s show deeply echoes WORLDBEX’s commitment to connect with the global pulse.”

Present in the opening ceremony are Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Rowel Barba, Mr. Joseph L. Ang  - WSI Founding Chairman, Mrs. Levi S. Ang, Ms. Jill Aithnie Ang – WSI Managing Director,  Arch. Francisco Flamenano Jr. – WSI Executive Director, Mr. Rene Ramos, Ms. Tessie Roque and IDr. Lilia de Jesus. The members of the diplomatic corps of different countries, association presidents and the WORLDBEX ICONS of Interior Design are also there to witness the grand opening of WORLDBEX.

It comes as no surprise that the reception of both the local and international community towards the upcoming show has been widely optimistic. Laying proof to this was the successful turnout of the WORLDBEX 2018 Exhibitors’ Orientation Program held last January 31 at the Hall B of the Philippine Trade Training Center; where over 700 attendees from 300 companies took part in the pre-show event.

As affirmed by Richmond Sy, President and General Manager of GRM Biowood, a first-time platinum sponsor for WORLDBEX, “Worldbex is the gold standard for construction expos and is well-known for showcasing the newest and most innovative products of the industry under one roof.” Moreover, Sy found this year’s theme highly relevant as it reflects what his company is all about.

On the other hand, 20 years later and Puyat Flooring Products Inc. remains to be one of the longest standing sponsors of WORLDBEX. Recalling their journey as one of the pioneer exhibitors of WORLDBEX, Missy Castro, Communications Manager for Puyat Flooring Products Inc. states, “Our participation has helped us a lot to reach out to our target customers and showcase the beauty and effectiveness of our products. Indeed, it is the most ideal venue to let our clients know about our company and our products!”

However, there seems to be no better exemplification of the burgeoning role of WORLDBEX as a key driver of economic growth on a global scale than the impressive number of international participants that will be taking part at this year’s show. Assuming the role of being the global construction industry’s gateway to Southeast Asia, among the new countries to participate at the much-anticipated event include Indonesia, Australia, Turkey, Germany, Iran, and Japan. These countries now join the roster of long time international partners that support WORLDBEX, such as Korea, Malaysia, Denmark, Singapore, Spain, China, New Zealand, UAE, Thailand, the US, and Vietnam.

Particularly impressive is the enthusiasm expressed by Malaysian companies who are occupying the most number of booths at this year’s International Pavilion. Leading the pack is Malaysian powerhouse MATRADE which has been allocated 30 booths. As remarked by MaTrade’s Trade Commissioner, Ms. Nyaee Ayup, “WORLDBEX has continuously showcased the emerging and innovative products in the industry. Indeed, it serves as an excellent platform for trade exchange and to learn best practices from other participating countries.

Without a doubt, this year’s WORLDBEX marks an incredible milestone not just for the show but for the country’s economic position as a whole. As remarked by Florian Gottein, Executive Director of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, “With the fast-changing Philippine business landscape and many developments across all industries, it is through events such as the WORLDBEX that the best in the Philippine building and construction industry can come together and showcase the many opportunities within the sector.”

Furthermore, Noel Toti Cariňo, National President of the Chamber of Real Estate & Builders’ Associations, Inc. cites WORLDBEX’s vast global network as an “affirmation of their bright prospects for the Philippine property and construction industry.”

Once again, WORLDBEX leads at the forefront of pushing forth the expansion of the Philippine construction industry to unprecedented heights. WORLDBEX 2018 on March 14 -18 from 10am to 8pm at the three mega venues of World Trade Center Metro Manila, Philippine Trade Training Center, and the SMX Convention Center, Pasay. The show is organized by the Worldbex Services International, the country’s leading events and expo organizer. To know more, visit www.worldbex.com. SCG elevates its expertise in building materials through innovative technology, creating world-class products for better living

SCG, the ASEAN business leader with an expertise in building materials and sustainability for construction products and services, launched the SCG Smartwood and SCG Portland Cement to the Philippine market in a press conference held during the WORLDBEX 2017 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, Philippines.

WORLDBEX is the venue for the most talented architects, interior designers, exporters, and students to learn about the latest trends and innovations for the construction and building sector.

This year, SCG showcased how an innovative and sustainable home can be both stylish and durable.

“At SCG, we create and deliver world-class building materials that truly serve our customers’ needs. SCG Smartwood, a superior brand of fiber cement wood substitute, offers a variety of designs and applications while at the same time extending the lifespan of a house for up to 30-50 years. SCG Portland Cement, on the other hand, uses innovative technology to boost its compressive strength, increasing its resistance to everyday wear and tear,” said Mr. Phaskorn Buranawit, Country Director of SCG Cement-Building Materials Philippines.

Apart from its durability, SCG Smartwood and SCG Portland Cement also respectively contributes to the well-being of the environment. SCG Smartwood lessens the number of trees cut for lumber, planks, timber, and other wood products. The production of SCG Portland Cement on the other hand, involves the rehabilitation of its quarrying sites.

The company gives importance to research and development of products, which aimed at creating more value for customers and promoting environmental conservation. SCG’s ultimate goal is to respond to consumers’ lifestyle both in the present and in the future.
“SCG Smartwood and SCG Portland Cement are produced through environmentally-friendly processes. SCG Smartwood is asbestos-free so the material is non-hazardous for our respiratory systems. It can also reduce the use of natural wood for over 90% of construction needs. SCG Portland Cement is innovative because it uses the waste heat power generator system in its production process. With these innovations, we hope to continue what we started in providing green and sustainable products to our clients in the construction industry.” added Buranawit.

With growing concerns over environmental issues, it has been forecasted that there will be an increasing demand for spatial buildings and building information modelling which account for environmental impact before construction even begins. There will also be a rise in demand for sustainable cement and rustic wood aesthetic, creating opportunities for better and stronger properties for the future.

SCG has been an innovative leader in developing green products and services. In a sustainability report released in 2016, SCG identified how it is able to maintain its position as a leader in building and providing a better future for everyone by implementing green practices in its processes, producing world-class and sustainable products and services.

“We have always envisioned an urbanized future for the world without damaging the environment. SCG Smartwood and SCG Portland Cement are materials for stronger and more sustainable homes and buildings,” concluded Buranawit.

SCG Cement-Building Materials is the official core business that supplies SCG Smartwood and SCG Portland Cement. It operates with full commitment to environmental friendliness and optimum use of natural resources in line with its sustainability framework.
