"Guardian" - Alanis Morissette

Multi-platinum, Grammy winning artist Alanis Morissette will be releasing her highly anticipated seventh studio album, HAVOC AND BRIGHT LIGHTS, on August 2012, via Ivory Music & Video, the exclusive licensee of Sony Music in the Philippines. Produced by Guy Sigsworth (Björk, Madonna, Seal) and Joe Chiccarelli (Tori Amos, Elton John, My Morning Jacket, U2) and recorded in Los Angeles, the album marks the songstress’ first release in four years.  Fans will be able to purchase the album’s first single, “Guardian,” on www.mymusicstore.com.ph

“This record, as always, is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments,” says Morissette. “It is my emotional, psychological, social and philosophical commentary through song. I can't wait to share it with this fun and funny planet, and to tour, and can't WAIT to have the lively, engaging and challenging conversations that these songs may invite.”

You, you who has smiled when you’re in pain

You who has soldiered through the profane
They were distracted and shut down

So why, why would you talk to me at all
such words were dishonorable and in vain
their promise as solid as a fog

and where was your watchman then

I’ll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I’ll be your warrior of care your first warden
I’ll be your angel on call, I’ll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian

you, you in the chaos feigning sane
You who has pushed beyond what’s humane
Them as the ghostly tumbleweed

And where was your watchman then

I’ll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I’ll be your warrior of care your first warden
I’ll be your angel on call, I’ll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian

now no more smiling mid crestfall
No more managing unmanageables
No more holding still in the hailstorm

Now enter your watchwoman

I’ll be your keeper for life as your guardian
I’ll be your warrior of care your first warden
I’ll be your angel on call, I’ll be on demand
The greatest honor of all, as your guardian

"Guardian", part of the album "Havoc and Bright Lights"

The lyric video showcases ‘guardian’ as a song that combines Alanis’s hard-rocking spirit with insightful, poetic lyrics.  After 4 years away from music, Alanis doesn’t appear to have lost a step along the way.
