IGNACIO DE LOYOLA : Soldier, Sinner, Saint


Jesuit Communications Philippines (JesCom) presents 'IGNACIO DE LOYOLA' - a full-length feature film about St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. 

Directed and screenplay by Paolo Dy, and stars Andreas Muñoz, Javier Godino, Julio Perillan and Pepe Ocio, 'IGNACIO DE LOYOLA', a heavy drama and historical film to discover how one man's failure led to his greatest achievement.

The film dramatizes the life of Íñigo López de Loyola, a Spanish knight who struggled with depression and guilt, but eventually found vindication in his faith. As Ignatius of Loyola, he founded the Society of Jesus.

The lead actor Andreas Muñoz said that the film is not just for religious people, nor does it seek to convert non-believers. (GMA7 news)



Synopsis:

IGNACIO DE LOYOLA tells the story of a brash, hot-headed soldier in a time of political upheaval in Spain. The young Iñigo went from living a life of brutal violence and debauchery, to becoming one of the greatest saints in the history of the Church. 

A modern and very human take on the story of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, often called 'The Saint of Second Chances.' 

As a brash, hot-headed soldier in a time of political upheaval in Spain, the young Iñigo went from living a life of brutal violence and debauchery, to becoming one of the greatest saints in the history of the Church. . 

This film chronicles Iñigo's torturous struggle to turn from darkness to light—a struggle that nearly destroyed him, but also gave him the key to a spiritual weapon that continues to save lives to this very day.

Produced by Jesuit Communications Philippines (JesCom), IGNACIO DE LOYOLA was shot on location over two months in Spain, and music by Ryan Cayabyab.
