Renowned Fashion Visionary John Herrera and Epson team up for an Aguila-inspired collection printed on Digital Textile Printers

Fashion Visionary and Designer John Herrera
Global technology leader Epson Philippines has officially partnered with renowned fashion designer John Herrera to showcase a 30-piece collection digitally printed with Epson’s next generation textile dye-sublimation transfer printers.

The preview of John Herrera’s latest collection was held at the Shangri-La Mall Grand Atrium on 1 February 2017.

Together with Epson Philippines, John showcased his runway collection that takes inspiration from the Philippine Protected Animal – Aguila (Great Philippine Eagle). The transition of this specific collection was from black and white to coloured designs.

Fresh from his most recent award as the top designer in the 2015 London Emerging Designers (LED) Awards, John Herrera, together with Epson is at the forefront of taking fashion to the next level through digital textile printing.

The collection is printed with Epson’s SureColor F-series dye-sublimation digital textile printers, the SureColor SC-F9270 and SC-6270.
“This partnership with Epson is very exciting. There are so many things you can do with printing compared to just buying fabric. Before, all collections by designers were done painstakingly by hand. Many of the outfits such as 3D items that are worn by the models can only be attached by hand, so what was presented on the runway cannot be worn again and again. With digital printing, the actual clothes in the collection can really be worn in real life,”, said John Herrera.
“The collection I will be presenting will be impossible to do without the Epson digital textile printer. I would have to paint the designs myself if there was no Epson printer, and with only a month to prepare, it could not have been done,” he added.
John adopts a “no-waste, no plastic” approach and puts a lot of importance on lessening wastage in his work. “With digital textile printing, we only use the exact volume of fabric. Instead of wasting 5 yards of fabric to do a lay out for a dress, we use only one and a half yards of digitally printed fabric to create one. Digital textile printing significantly lessens fabric wastage.

“Faster, more intelligent, almost zero wastage - that’s what Epson brings to the table,” he said.

“Epson is happy to officially introduce John Herrera as the Brand Ambassador of Epson Philippines’ Commercial and Industrial Printers segment. He’s very passionate about digital textile printing which makes him a great Brand Ambassador for us to educate more people about this technology,” said Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Marketing Head, Epson Philippines.

Epson’s digital textile printing technology enables designers such as John Herrera to help them achieve their artistic vision.

Through this innovation, their ideas are translated onto high quality digital textile prints driven by Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead technology, one of the fastest inkjet delivery technologies in the world. Its print nozzles deliver ultra-precise control of ink droplets for superior image sharpness across a wide range of ink and media producing outstandingly vivid and unique prints.

“We are certain that this collaboration will help us bring our digital textile printers closer to our customers especially those in the creative industry. Digital textile printing technology will definitely inspire more designers, to make their own prints for their world-class designs. Now, designers are only limited by their imagination,” shared Pamela Albar, Department Head for Commercial and Industrial Printers, Epson Philippines.
