CEBUCON 2017 features new technology, innovations, other products for construction industry

Construction Show Cebu or CebuCon, a popular industry event of choice to launch products, recently concluded and featured again new technology, innovations and product solutions for the construction and building industry held at the Sky Hall and Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu.

Among them was a revolutionary design tool—the latest progeCAD for design professionals and practitioners. This is an affordable CAD software that uses *.DWG file format. It’s easy to learn and use with built-in useful equipment.

“The progeCAD Professional 2018 is our next generation of alternative CAD product in the market set to handle bigger sized files. The best version [eve],” said Ar. Dennis S. Mayo, technical director of Architechnologies, Inc., its sole authorized distributor in the Philippines since 2012.

“With CEBUCON’s 25th year celebration, it is a very good venue to launch the latest offering of progeCAD. It is our belief that there are still a lot of professionals, who need the benefit of an affordable CAD package. We believe that CEBUCON shares with us the commitment of sincerely serving the AEC [Architecture, Engineering, Construction] industry and with this partnership, we believe we can tap more potential customers and expand our business networks,” he added.

While property developers describe their subdivisions and condos as perfect place to live, work, play and even retire, Newluxe International, Inc. has complete packages of outdoor and indoor playground facilities and equipment to offer them. Based in Cebu, the company provides cost-effective play solutions and high-quality fun, stimulating, challenging and yet safe children’s playgrounds that suit the needs of these communities.

Carron Group of Companies, another new exhibitor, is geared on tapping the growing number of property developers who see the great business potential on water parks and entertainment centers. Its expertise covers project design, planning, operations management; as well as manufacturing, supply and installation of facilities and equipment for these tourism establishments. It also offers turn-key projects.

Established in 1996, the company started manufacturing locally built amusement rides using European technology with imported and locally sourced parts and components. Among its clientele are Star City, Sky Ranch Tagaytay, SM Prime Holdings, Inc., Star Mall Group, Sta. Lucia Realty & Dev., Inc., Splash Town Water Park, Robinsons Land Corp., Filinvest Alabang, Inc., Jed’s Island Resort, Miriam College. It has also supplied amusement rides abroad to countries like Italy, Saudi, Qatar, Dubai, New Zealand, Nigeria, Australia and China.

Other new products launched, included MAS Paints eco-friendly coatings for interiors and exteriors decorative textured paints and wood paints ideal for furniture, cabinets, counter tops and other indoor surfaces with its special effects paints for wood to mimic different surfaces like leather, metal, marble and others. MAS Paints’ solvent and water-based dyes stain varnish wood transparently bring out the natural characteristics of wood grains.

With the shift in environmental friendly activities, Vertical Difficult Access Solutions, a young Cebu-based firm founded in 2016, promoted rope access services for industries requiring inspection, maintenance or repair and accessibility in hard to reach points.

These were just few of the featured products witnessed by the trade professionals, property developers, owners and consultants during the four-day event that took place from June 2 to 5.

At 25, CEBUCON remains relevant by showcasing a comprehensive range of product solutions, innovations and expertise for the built environment. “From the first nail to the last nail,” as they say, this is what CEBUCON is all about.

Themed “25 Years of Building Business Networks in the Construction Industry in the Southern Philippines,” CEBUCON welcomed, among its trade visitors, representatives of various hardware associations in the country from the Philippine Hardware Foundation, Inc. in Manila to its counterparts from Davao Hardware Association, Bacolod Hardware Merchants and those from other provinces in Visayas and Mindanao like Iloilo, Bohol, Dumaguete, and General Santos City. This was made possible through CEBUCON’s long time partnership with Cebu’s Hardware Consolidated, Inc. (HCI).

The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C-1 had its special participation by presenting design concepts on Maritima building via its local chapters. Built in 1910, the Compania Maritima was once known as the Fernandez Building.

It was occupied by the Shamrock Hotel during the pre-war years, but the building’s internal structure and roof were destroyed during the liberation of Cebu City in 1945. After the liberation, the crumbling building was repaired and became the main office of Compania Maritima, one of the biggest shipping lines in Cebu City serving many key cities in the Philippines. It also occupied the first international port in Cebu. But the company filed for bankruptcy in the late 1980’s and the building has been abandoned ever since.

CEBUCON was organized and managed by L.A. Ducut & Company, Inc., in tie up with the HCI.
