Dani Girl: Of sickness, songs and hope

“Why is cancer?”

Far from sitting back and letting her leukemia take over, nine-year old Dani sets off on a whimsical quest to find her hair and figure out the answer to the question, “Why is cancer?”.

Together with her best friend and guardian angel, they go on a journey with lightsaber duels, game shows, space ships and all the silly games in between, showing that a child’s imagination and fighting spirit have no bounds.

“Dani Girl: A Musical About Hope” by Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond celebrates the childlike innocence, wonder, imagination, courage and hope that people often forget and lose as full-fledged adults.

The play first premiered in Manila in 2014 as the maiden production of The Sandbox Collective. The show received wide acclaim from audiences and critics. Stage actress Lea Salonga called it “perfection” in its simplicity and execution, while METRO Magazine praised it as a play that “refreshes the mind and soul and touches your heart and spirit.”

'When Dani, a precocious nine-year-old, loses her hair to leukemia, she embarks on a magical journey to get it back. Simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking, Dani Girl is a tale of life in the face of death, hope in the face of despair, and the indomitable power of the human imagination.'

ETON CITY: The Gateaway to the South

In the last few years, an increasing number of people are moving into the peripheries of Metro Manila to settle into a more peaceful and less stressful suburban life. More and more offices and commercial centers are setting up in major growth corridors such as Laguna, Cavite, and Pampanga. However, this rapid urbanization also exponentially increased vehicular traffic in these rising districts. Because of this, finding a neighborhood that is centrally located and easily accessible from major road networks makes a meaningful and wise investment for those looking to purchase a property in these areas.

In Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Eton City makes a strong case for people who want to enjoy the benefits of living in a suburban community, like having access to wide and serene natural spaces, but still want to be close enough to the urban comforts and conveniences that surround the area. Before getting into the inner business districts and residential areas in Sta. Rosa, Eton City welcomes you to the South with its own exit along the South Luzon Expressway. It still offers a faster and safer route going to Tagaytay. With this exclusive exit, the Alabang CBD is approximately 25 minutes away and the Makati CBD about 45 minutes away.

Low-density residential villages

Developed by Eton Properties Philippines, Inc., the real estate arm of the Lucio Tan Group, each village in Eton City takes inspiration from various architectural influences, creating premium-themed communities that give way to elegant living.

Combining unique homes, verdant surroundings, and open spaces in distinguished village concepts, Eton City is envisioned to be a vibrant and accessible community. Strategically located with easy access to education, business, and lifestyle hubs, the themed residences and premium amenities of West Wing Residences, TierraBela, Riverbend, and South Lake Village will be investments that grow as individuals, families, and communities do.

ASEAN universal bank - CIMB Bank Philippines (CIMB Bank PH) celebrates the milestone achievement of 500,000 users of the GSave mobile savings account on its partner platform GCash, the leading mobile wallet in the Philippines.

CIMB announced this Tuesday, August 13, that it has garnered 500,000 customers, approximately six months after opening its doors for business in the Philippines. The milestone was reached anchored on a strong proposition of co-creation and partnership between CIMB Bank and GCash.

The all-digital, mobile-first CIMB Bank PH, was launched in early 2019 with a goal of bringing a unique and differentiated banking proposition to Filipinos. Anchored on a DNA of strong strategic partnerships and solving customer pain points digitally, CIMB Bank PH had forged a partnership with GCash, to allow GCash’s customers direct, paperless and seamless access to savings account services, a product termed GSave. GCash is an epayments platform owned by Mynt, the revolutionary fintech startup of Globe Telecom, Ayala Corporation and Ant Financial, an affiliate of Jack Ma’s Alibaba Group.

Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group CEO, CIMB Group, who was in Manila to celebrate this milestone said, “CIMB Bank PH is surely the fastest growing bank in ASEAN, a wonderful achievement, and a strong testament of things that can be achieved in the regime of digital-only banks. We are motivated by this and will continue to innovate for our customers. Well done to the teams.”

In line with this, CIMB Bank PH and GCash also announced that the GSave bank account will be exclusively offered only on the GCash platform. The companies also said they will be working together to make added suites of financial services products available to GCash customers in the future. These services will be announced in due course.

Zafrul added, “The partnership with GCash was central to us achieving this milestone. It is a live case study of bank-tech partnerships, a combination of banking expertise and technology platform plays, and the opportunities it allows both parties to access. I look forward to developing more propositions with GCash to further establish our mobile banking presence in the Philippines.”

Anthony Thomas, President and Chief Executive Officer of GCash affirmed its shared mission with CIMB Bank to increase accessibility of financial products and services for all Filipinos. “The acquisition of 500,000 users is a clear testament that the partnership between GCash and CIMB Bank through GSave is a success. We welcome this achievement and the deepening of our collaboration with CIMB Bank, and assure our users that we will continue to provide more innovative services to address the banking and financial needs of Filipinos who aspire for financially better lives for their families.”

The 500,000 GSave users are now enjoying the benefits of CIMB’s savings account, which is available as the Save Money feature on the GCash app. GSave offers an interest rate of 3 percent per annum, which is more than ten times higher than those interest rates offered by most Philippine banks.

Additionally, GSave does not require an initial deposit or maintaining balance, nor does it impose service charges for transactions—greatly reducing the barriers for ordinary Filipinos to open and maintain a savings account.

Five reasons why PayMaya is the best way for students to receive their allowances

Juggling work and parenting can be quite a challenge especially as we ease into the back-to-school season. Luckily, as parents in the digital world, there are countless tools and apps available to help you complete your household management and work tasks simultaneously.

This includes the PayMaya app - which provides parents a faster, safer, and more convenient way to give allowances to their children – especially those who are off to senior high school and college.

Here are five reasons why using PayMaya is the best way for students to receive their allowances:

It provides awesome perks for students

Sending your children’s allowances via PayMaya is not only efficient, it is also practical. With the various discounts and promos offered by PayMaya, you and your teenager can definitely pile up on cashbacks and discounts each time you transact. PayMaya offers a wide range of promos, providing the best deals catering to its student-customers.

It is fast and convenient

With PayMaya, you can easily send your child’s allowance in just seconds – no need to fumble for the exact amount of cash in your wallet every single day. In times of urgent need, having your PayMaya can also come in handy, because sending emergency money from the confines of your office is just as easy as a few taps on your phone and can be done within seconds.  You can also easily send funds to your or your child's PayMaya wallet from your bank account through InstaPay.

It is more secure than giving cash

By sending their allowance straight to their PayMaya account, students can avoid instances where they lose or misplace their money. They can also track their expenses as they receive an SMS after each transaction – whether by using their PayMaya QR, virtual card or physical card.

There are already cashless campuses which accept card and QR transactions including Lyceum University of the Philippines – Batangas and soon, the University of the Philippines. These universities, along with STI also provide PayMaya-powered IDs to their students. Of course, in times where they do need their cash, they can easily withdraw money from any Bancnet ATM near their home or school.

It teaches them financial responsibility

If your children are heading to college, this season is a great opportunity for parents to also let them handle and manage their own money – which means allowing them to budget their allowances, track their expenses, and even save up a little fund for their hobbies or simply hanging out with their friends. One way to do this is by sending them their weekly allowance, instead of daily, via PayMaya.

With PayMaya, saving up is easier as they can easily track their spending within the app. They also get discounts on their in-app purchases which includes prepaid load, gaming pins, and even select goodies at PayMaya Treats.

It empowers them to make their own purchases

Using their savings to purchase items that give them joy or allow them to pursue their passions - whether these are gaming pins, a cute new purse at Zalora, or art supplies at the National Bookstore – will surely make them feel empowered and inspired to keep saving money.

With PayMaya on hand, they can purchase all these items and more, in the safest, most convenient way, with the most value for their money.

Download the PayMaya app now and experience cashless convenience as you manage your household while on the go.

To know more about how you can get the best deals when you pay your bills, send money, buy load, shop online and in-store, and many more, visit https://www.paymaya.com/deals.
