This Valentine, show some love to yourself by learning more about health and self-care.

Philippine King of Talk Boy Abunda

To help the public become more aware of the dangers of stroke, its prevention and the importance of getting emergency help, Angels Initiative and Stroke Society of the Philippines enlisted the help of the Philippine King of Talk Boy Abunda through an online event called Stroke 101: Knowing the basics of stroke is a way of loving oneself on February 11, 2021, 7 p.m. via the Stroke Society of the Philippines official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SSPFBPage/). This event is open to the general public.

Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide  and in the Philippines.  If not treated in a timely manner, a stroke can have emotional, physical or even fatal consequences. Because of its urgent nature, Angels Initiative and Stroke Society of the Philippines urge the public to rush a person exhibiting stroke symptoms to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment.

With TV icon Boy Abunda’s engaging and in-depth way of discussing important matters, the medical community hopes to empower the public with essential knowledge about stroke and inspire people to take better care of their health as well as of their loved ones’.

Joining him are neurologists Dr. Romulo Esagunde and Dr. Maria Socorro Sarfati to help shed light on what stroke is, its types and symptoms, what one can do to minimize its risk factors, and what you must do when you or a loved one is experiencing the signs of stroke.

Angels Initiative is a global healthcare initiative endorsed by the World Stroke Organization (WSO) and European Stroke Organization (ESO) to increase the number of acute stroke centers and optimize the quality of stroke treatment in these centers while Stroke Society of the Philippines is an organization of physicians, nurses and other allied health care personnel who have special interest in stroke care, education and research.
