Bringing the Sexy Back amid the New Normal - Santé NuTrio Challenge redefines “Sexy”

There is no denying that staying fit and healthy becomes a little more challenging these days since most people limit their time going outside their homes. With the inevitable sedentary lifestyle of being stuck at home and the growing demand for food deliveries, some found themselves gaining some “pandemic” weight.

But, more than a year into community quarantines and lockdowns, most of us now realize that the journey to best health isn’t just about losing weight but a holistic fitness lifestyle that leads to an improved and better physical transformation.

This mindset is what Santé, a premier natural and organic health and wellness product and services provider, aims as it recently launched its Bring the Sexy Back with Santé NuTrio.

The ongoing challenge, which lasts until September 16, encourages participants to become healthier and fitter by undergoing a 60-day fitness transformation journey and posting pictures and videos of their progress every day on their personal Facebook pages with the hashtags: #BringTheSexyBackWithSanteNutrio and #SanteNutrioChallenge.

The elimination rounds will be held on August 17 for the semi-finals and September 16 for the final round. Participants chosen to advance into the rounds will be judged based on overall appearance change, storytelling, workout routine, and diet, among others. Three winners will have a chance to win Php20,000 to Php50,000, while 20 participants will win a consolation prize of Santé products.

The Santé NuTrio—the New Trio of Sexy—consists of the power of the Santé Barley, the confidence of Daily-C, and the fitness of Fit’ N Trim to support individuals to become their best selves.

Santé Barley™ is a certified organic barley grass powdered drink. Blended with one of nature’s most potent sweeteners, Stevia, this product is best taken before meals. It also easily dissolves in water and contains A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, and E, giving your body all the strength, it needs to push through adversity.

On the other hand, the Santé Daily-C is the company’s non-acidic vitamin C. It comes in 500mg and 750mg (in vegetable capsules). Its non-acidic form makes it gentler on the stomach and safer for daily use. When taken daily, this vitamin C supplement can be your immune system aide, giving you the confidence to achieve your goals without worrying about getting ill.

Meanwhile, the fitness aspect of the package, FitN’Trim, an L-Carnitine-infused weight management drink made from Santé Barley™ grass, lemon, and green tea, helps detox the body by dissolving and eliminating toxins and congestion, cleansing kidneys and digestive system, eliminating unusable waste, building a healthy bloodstream, and earning a healthy weight loss.

“At Santé, we want to change people’s mindset of the word ‘sexy.’ We want to give sexy a new and healthy definition. Sexy should not merely be about looking thin, losing so much weight, and having the tiniest waistline. So many dangerous diet fads and pills can do that, but sexy should be holistically being in good shape—being strong, confident, and fit. With our Santé Nutrio Packs and the Bringing the Sexy Back Challenge, we hope that this could be the start for Filipinos to live more, do more for a better life,” said Joey Marcelo, chief executive officer of Santé.

The Santé NuTrio is just among the organic health and wellness products Santé offers. Known for its flagship, Santé Barley™, the company has developed a comprehensive selection of everyday barley-based products. They are made, specifically with organic barley grass, certified by BioGro, New Zealand’s leading organic certification agency.

Santé is one of the fastest-growing distribution and direct selling companies globally. Aside from New Zealand and the Philippines, Santé is also present in key markets, such as Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Abuja, Lagos, and Cyprus. It offers premier natural and organic health and wellness products and services designed to improve people’s quality of life so they can live more and do more.

Ben&Ben surpass expectations on sophomore album, Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno

Multi-platinum certified and critically acclaimed Filipino band Ben&Ben have finally released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno via Sony Music.

Expanding their sound with rewarding experiments and thematically bolder songwriting, the 13-track album marks an important chapter in Ben&Ben’s history as it captures the songs, stories, messages, experiences, learnings, and insights that accompanied them through their self-reflecting but fulfilling journey.

“Each song, much like an entry in one's personal journal, encapsulates something uniquely special to represent something in a certain point in time,” the nine-piece collective shares in a statement. “We felt it would be important for our second album to be a work that brings us closer to our listeners and introduces them more to the wide spectrum of what we are capable of and of who we are as people.”

Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno surpasses expectations in terms of musicality and production, giving way to an exquisite piece of pop songcraft that feels more like a natural progression from their equally compelling debut album, Limasawa Street rather than a retread of the comfortably familiar. Since working on Kuwaderno, Ben&Ben have been more open to collaborations that venture beyond the confines of their early work.

On their second album, they have teamed up with the biggest names in the Philippine music industry on six of the songs, including “Swimming Pool” (Feat. Chito Miranda of Parokya Ni Edgar), “Pasalubong” (Feat. Moira Dela Torre), “Lunod” (Feat. Zild and juan karlos), “Sabel” (Feat. KZ Tandingan), “Kapangyarihan” (Feat. SB19), and “Sugat” (Feat. Munimuni).

“We've always wanted to collaborate with these artists, but we were also always a bit too shy to ask,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Paolo Benjamin. “When working on the second album however, our songs and the arrangements gave us confidence to reach out in hopes that these collaborators would likewise believe in our music enough to work with us. Thankfully, they did, and we are immensely grateful for their generosity in sharing their hard work and talent with us.”

Pre-production for the album began in the latter part of April 2021 when Ben&Ben recorded their first two songs “Upuan” and “Magpahinga.” The former will have a music video featuring He’s Into Her stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano to be released on August 29, 6pm (Sunday) via Ben&Ben’s official YouTube channel. Directed by Niq Ablao, the visuals take us into a simple yet timeless story about prom, and the jitters that come with finding the courage to ask someone out.

The production phase continued with Ben&Ben recording with some of their artist collaborators towards the end of May, and wrapped up with other songs in the album in mid-June. These tracks include “Kuwaderno,” which sets the mood and tone of the record; “Kasayaw,” a metaphor that alludes to the difficult question of whether two people are in the same groove or not; “Elyu,” a classic sounding song about wanting to free oneself from something; Ilang Tulog Na lang,” a paean to long distance relationships; and “Kayumanggi,” an anthem that embraces the beauty and richness of Filipino identity.

Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno is written, arranged, and produced by Ben&Ben, with Jean Paul Verona and Sam Marquez (One Click Straight) involved in co-producing, mixing, and co-engineering duties. Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Leon Zervos, who has worked with the likes of Maroon 5, Pink, and Rihanna, heads the overall mastering of the tracks.

Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno is out now via Sony Music on all digital music platforms worldwide including Spotify. And fans can also look forward to exclusive content only on Spotify.

Safe and cashless delivery transactions with GCash and GoGo Xpress

During the pandemic, more Filipinos started micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), such as online shops of various essentials and retail products. In the new normal, these MSMEs, as well as their customers, need contactless transactions and deliveries for everyone’s safety.

To help MSMEs and the community during these times, GCash, the country’s mobile leading wallet, ties up with GoGo Xpress (GGX), one of the country’s fastest growing digital logistics companies and reliable express courier founded by QuadX, to include GCash as a safe and convenient option for payments and deliveries. For GoGo Xpress deliveries, GCash offers shoppers two payment options: GCash Wallet and Scan-to-Pay.

“Many MSMEs provide Filipinos with essentials, create job opportunities, and contribute to the economy. GCash, together with GoGo Xpress, will continue to innovate to help businesses nationwide, especially MSMEs, pivot to a safe and cashless ecosystem and thrive even during the pandemic,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon.

MSMEs and shoppers can start using GCash Wallet by simply downloading the GCash app for free on the Google Play or Apple Store and register for an account. After providing your mobile number, simply submit the 6-digit authentication code sent to your number, read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and fill in the contact information requested on the GCash registration form.

GCash users can also choose the Scan-to-Pay option when paying for deliveries by tapping the QR code on the navigation bar of the GCash app and aligning their phone’s camera to the rider’s QR code for it to be scanned. Then, just input the right amount and click, “Pay.” After that, you’ll be able to see your in-app receipt on the screen and will receive an SMS confirmation as proof of your transaction.

“At GoGo Xpress (QuadX), it’s not just about bringing parcels from one point to another. While we seriously take into account the value and importance of each item that we move, we make it a point that we don’t lose sight of our ultimate goal and that is to democratize entrepreneurship in the country. As experienced innovators, our mission is to build entrepreneurs within the social commerce space, and we do this through our best-in-class solutions and technology." said QuadX Founder and CEO Dino Araneta.

“Integrating GCash into our ecosystem allowed us to up our game in terms of providing quality service to our key stakeholders – sellers, riders, community hubs, and buyers. In this new world that we are all facing right now, the ability to adapt and embrace new tools and solutions will make a difference for businesses to survive and thrive,” Araneta adds.

GCash has more than 46 million users, which more than doubled during the pandemic, also making it a preferred cashless payment option of multiple logistics companies, retail establishments, and more nationwide. They will continue to help more MSMEs pivot to digitization and safe delivery transactions to aid both businesses and customers navigate the new normal while staying safe.

Wear Your Confidence While Breathing Clean, Pure Air - The upgraded LG PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier with VoiceOn™ is now available in Ph

Building on the success of the first Wearable Air Purifier, LG introduced a slimmer and smarter version to the local market. LG’s re-engineered PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier is upgraded from the innovative, wearable device LG first launched last year. The latest model offers an enhanced all-around performance along with a convenient voice amplification feature and a more comfortable, lightweight design.

In a recent virtual event hosted by LG Brand Ambassador James Deakin, LG Philippines unveiled the new Wearable Air Purifier with VoiceON™. The event started off with a short discussion about the importance of mask use. Dr. Ma. Adelina Sadili, a Consultant Pulmonologist at Makati Medical Center, led the talk and shared important pulmonary facts to take heed during the pandemic. One of her suggestions to strengthen and keep one’s lungs healthy is to improve air quality at home, something that LG has been working tirelessly on. To improve air quality on the go, that’s where the new and improved LG Wearable Air Purifier comes in.
Mr. Sungjae Kim (Managing Director of LGE PH)

The upgraded LG PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier with VoiceON™ is equipped with a fully automatic fan airflow control system that increases breathing comfort. It also incorporates two H13 HEPA filters, the same as those found in premium air purifiers for the home, to ensure the air the user breathes is as clean and healthy as possible. Driven by an ultra-small and lightweight motor, the device’s DUAL fans combine with LG’s airflow control technology – which detects the user’s breathing pattern and adjusts airflow accordingly – to help the wearer breathe easier and more naturally. This advanced system also prevents a common problem for those wearing glasses and mask at the same time, keeping their lenses from fogging up when exhaling.
Sporting a fresh, new design, the upgraded PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier provides a subtle yet stylish look, and comes in two chic colors: Creamy White and Ocean Black. Additionally, the device will be offered in medium and large sizes to guarantee a better fit for more consumers. Its seamless, ergonomic design minimizes air leakage around the nose and chin, sealing gently but firmly to the wearer’s face. Weighing in at only 94 grams, the latest model is comfortable to wear for longer periods of time and is perfect for everyday use.

To make it easier to communicate with others while wearing the PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier, LG has introduced its VoiceON™ technology. Employing a microphone and a speaker built into the device itself, VoiceON™ helps clearly project the user’s voice so they can be heard and understood without issue.

“LG has been hard at work in order to provide meaningful ways of improving the day to day of the new normal.” Sungjae Kim, LG PH’s Managing Director, said. “The LG PuriCare™ Wearable Air Purifier has been the talk of the town for over a year now, and here we are for an even better version. I’m excited to introduce to everyone a new product that’s perfect for the new normal.”

LG’s new Wearable Air Purifier is available in LG’s authorized retailers both in-store and online.

"Dayaw” continues to champion Filipino heritage and indegeneous culture with Season 11 at Abs-Cbn News Channel (ANC)

"Dayaw," a documentary series feature different facets of our indigenous culture.

With Deputy Speaker Congresswoman Loren Legarda, rhe 1st virtual Dayaw press conference was held featuring our indigenous culture and heritage

The mission to promote Filipino indigenous culture and heritage goes on for the award-winning documentary series “Dayaw” with the launch of its eleventh season on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, this August.

A production of ANC and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), “Dayaw” has been documenting the lifeways, traditions, practices, and culture of the different Indigenous Peoples groups since 2015.

Still leading the way for “Dayaw” on its eleventh season is its host, three-term senator, and now House deputy speaker and Antique congresswoman, Loren Legarda, who conceptualized the program.

“It has always been Dayaw's mission to document as many aspects of Filipino culture and knowledge systems as possible. We can only save these from extinction by continuing to instill their importance in the younger generation, and let them practice and learn these treasures. With the theme "Kakaibang Sigla,” Dayaw Season 11 allows us to look at the different ways in which our energy, competitiveness and sportsmanship are mainstreamed in the traditional societies and knowledge systems,” Loren said.

After featuring traditional Filipino children’s games such as patintero, sipa, and luksong tinik in the first episode, followed by a two-part special on the Punnuk, a show of physical strength that ends the Ifugao’s harvest season, “Dayaw” will then focus on Filipino martial arts such as arnis, silat, and eskrima in its next two episodes, starting on Thursday (August 26), 6pm on ANC and the ANC Facebook.

The season will wrap up on September 3 with “Sayawang Pinoy,” an episode highlighting how grace and fluidity of movements of Filipinos express our energy, discipline and joy as a people.

Despite the pandemic, “Dayaw” has been able to launch new seasons, with Season 12 already in the works. Titled "KAKA-IBANG SIGLA: Our Vital Energy Part 2," it will explore love, courtship, marriage, and the cycles of life featuring the Gaddang, Tboli, and Sama Dilaut.

“We are fortunate to have shot a treasure trove of material before the pandemic began. This has enabled us to go on with our mission of telling the stories of our indigenous peoples so that future generations may still be able to appreciate and continue their legacy,” said ANC chief operating officer Nadia Trinidad.

NCCA chair Arsenio "Nick" Lizaso expressed his gratitude to former Senator Legarda and ANC for their part in bringing our indigenous people's knowledge and heritage closer to Filipino and even foreign viewers.

“I would like to commend Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda for her vision and commitment to preserve, promote and enrich our culture and heritage, and to ANC for translating that vision into an exemplary body of work,” he said.

“Dayaw” Season 11 airs every Thursday at 6 pm on ANC on cable and the ANC Facebook page.
