Insight Music launches singer-composer Jelry, releases ‘mood playlists’



Innovative Filipino record label Insight Music rocks the music circuit with new standout releases that sonically paint life and love with every color of the emotional spectrum—from the kilig, to the erotic, to the inspired.

Highlighting the collection is singer-songwriter Jelry’s debut single titled “Rosas,” a catchy pop acoustic ballad with bouncy, sweet sounds.

Young listeners enthralled by their first loves will surely relate to “Rosas,” which draws upon Jelry’s personal encounter with the subject. The joy and innocence of young romance is encapsulated in the song’s lyrics and melody, sending the power of “kilig” surging through every note.

“ ‘Rosas’ conjures up a scene from my JS prom back in high school,” says Jerly of the song. “I remember feeling nervous when I asked my prom date to dance. She wore this bright pink gown and while we were dancing, the lights also started to turn red and pink. I simply savored that moment.”

Jelry’s music debut has been a long time coming. The young man (whose real name is John Lloyd Reyes) first learned to play the guitar with just two chords that his father taught him. This sparked an interest that inspired Jelry to hone his craft through online platforms, soaking up everything he could about music theory, production, and songwriting. Finally, Jelry took a brave step and began writing his own music, which led to his first-ever record deal with Insight Music.

“I can’t wait to share ‘Rosas’ with everyone,” Jelry now enthuses. “They will certainly enjoy listening and dancing to it. And if you are looking for a song that will make you feel good, this is it!”

With his debut single “Rosas,” Jelry finally realizes a dream that brings him a step closer to the realm of the musical legends that have influenced him through the years. Talents like IVOS, Rex Orange County, Ed Sheeran, and Rivermaya have all helped shape Jelry’s love for music. He hopes that as his career evolves, he can muster the same passion and emotion his icons evoke in every song.

“Trying to emulate these gifted artists felt like learning a new language,” Jelry muses. For him, however, the reward is worth all his efforts. “I now get to express my feelings and emotions through music, which is a tough feat in real life.”

But Insight Music’s string of new releases ventures beyond the subject of love. To probe the nuances and shades of what makes life colorful and complex, Insight is spinning off its ‘mood playlist’—a genre of music that sets one’s emotions or mindset in a particular state or condition

To this end, Insight Music is primed to release three new mood playlist albums: “Sexy Time: Make Out Music,” “My Study Companion,” and “Burn: The Workout Playlist”.


These themed playlists were crafted to get individuals ‘in the zone’. “Sexy Time: Make Out Music” is for intimate nights and steamy sessions under the covers; “My Study Companion” comes handy when cramming for the finals, doing school research, and writing the thesis; and “Burn: The Workout Album” serves to drive health buffs towards the level of fitness they desire.

For Insight Music president and chief creative head, Chris Cahilig, these albums represent a shift in the trend for what record labels can be.

“What sets music apart from any art form is the way a simple series of notes can cue us to feel,” says Cahilig. “The art form is so visceral in the way it captures our collective and individual imaginations. So we figured that if people seek these things—motivation, passion, intimacy—through music, let’s just cut to the chase and give people what they want.”

The albums, all composed by renowned producer Ian Joseph Tan, are the first of their kind in the Philippines. Along with Jelry’s “Rosas,” the albums reflect the pioneering vision Insight Music has for Original Pilipino Music.

“We want to push music forward by bringing it back to its roots, which means getting talented artists and dropping music that connects instantly” says Cahilig. “And with talent as youthful and brilliant as Jelry, and these mood albums made for every Filipino, we know OPM can be elevated to a whole new level.”

Nestlé Wellness Campus: Empowering students, parents, and teachers to live healthier lives


COVID-19 is a serious illness the whole world is currently battling, but this should not hinder us from taking care of other health problems. This includes malnutrition, which has been a concern among children, even before the pandemic. Malnutrition is one of the biggest impediments to human development. Children who are stunted, wasting, or obese may have some trouble performing at school, may experience low self-esteem, and later on, suffer long-term effects as an adult.

According to a report from the Food and Nutrition Research Institute, 26% or 1 out of 4 school children are underweight, which is a condition where children are found to weigh below the standard weight for the childs age. A survey last year also showed that 62% or 6 out of 10 of households experienced moderate to severe food insecurity -- the state in which people are at risk or actually suffering from inadequate consumption to meet nutritional requirements.

In taking care of childrens nutrition, health, and wellness, we help ensure that they can have a brighter future ahead. However, due to lack of knowledge or resources, children are not able to eat food that is of adequate quality and quantity which is the number one cause of malnutrition.

This is because we all know that an unhealthy child cannot learn as much as one who is healthy, well-fed, and given nutritionally sufficient assistance, especially for those who cannot afford the expense of maintaining healthy children,DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said during a Memorandum of Agreement signing last January 2021.

As a Kasambuhay sa Kalusugan of Filipinos, Nestlé ensures that children get the proper nutrition they need through the Nestlé Wellness Campus (NWC) program, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd). Established in 2013, the program began with the goal of raising awareness and providing educational materials to pursue wellness daily. Over the years, NWC grew and was embraced by different DepEd regions. The dance program evolved into an inter-school and inter-region competition to recognize the best schools that have implemented the program in their community. Nestlé is committed to promoting nutrition, health, and wellness in the new normal by providing digital tools such as nutrition and sustainability modules, and wellness song and dance videos to educate students, teachers, and parents on the seven healthy habits they can apply at home.

Nestlé also recognized teachers who went the extra mile to sustain and reinforce its healthy habits and create innovative learning experiences for children. They launched an exclusive NWC Facebook Group to continue their commitment and strengthen the pivot online. In this group which now has more than 47,000 members, teachers get to learn and share best wellness practices in their schools. Additionally, a Facebook Group exclusive for parents is also underway to provide them access to wellness content for their children and the entire family.

The program started at only 250 high schools with a total of 650,000 students in the National Capital Region (NCR) during its first year. Now, NWC has grown to inspire more than 7 million students from Grades 1 to 10 in 13,000 schools to live healthier lives. For SY 2021-2022, Nestlé anticipates the program to reach more than 10 million students across 7 regions nationwide, namely: NCR, CALABARZON, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Davao.

Filipino-Norwegian singer-songwriter Clinton Kane tops Philippine streaming and radio charts with “I Guess I’m In Love”

Following his viral success on TikTok and other online music platforms, Clinton Kane is taking the country by storm with the release of his stripped-down pop ballad “I GUESS I’M IN LOVE,” under Columbia Records and Sony Music.

Detailing the winding journey and range of feelings that come with finally finding true love, the emotional single is currently at No. 4 on Spotify Philippines charts, and has amassed nearly 23 million streams since its release last August 20, 2021. The track is currently a mainstay on various local radio charts, ranking within the top 20 of Manila-based mainstream radio stations, RX 93. 1 and 99.5 Play FM.

Over at TikTok, The Filipino-Norwegian star’s chart-topping track has been covered by Filipino artists, including SB19’s Pablo, whose stellar rendition garnered close to 200k views in less than an hour.

Department of Tourism Approves Supplementary Accommodations

 

With the recent awarding of the Safety Seal Certification, Century Park Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Manila, is pleased to announce that it has also been granted Multiple Use Hotel (MUH) status by the Department of Tourism (DOT). 



Under the operational provisions of MUH, Century Park Hotel will continue to accept essential stays for health and emergency front liners, OFWs, returning residents, foreign nationals and other individuals requiring quarantine.  The hotel can also offer accommodations for participants in essential meetings & social events, long-staying guests, business guests, and other APORs (Authorized Persons Outside Residence) in accordance with their official function or duty.  Operations under MUH are subject to the prevailing community classification status for the City of Manila.

 

In line with the MUH status, essential meetings and social events will also be accepted.

·      Supporting protocols in reporting and extraction of confirmed COVID-19 cases

·      Proper waste disposal, disinfection and decontamination systems in place
