ABS-CBN Foundation's Campaign “We Believe in The Power of Good” launch with celebrity Ambassadors Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson, Robi Domingo and Jodi Sta. Maria

ABS-CBN Foundation International has made international headlines recently for stellar achievements: its record-breaking North America fundraising telethon partnership with ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC) and its news program, Balitang America, to help victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) through its program Sagip Kapamilya in 2013; its Norcal Emmy Award for its “Fighting For Survival” PSA with Filipino American middleweight mixed martial artist and UFC fighter Mark Munoz under the category Spot Announcements-Community Public Service (PSA) Single Spot or Campaign; and the 18th anniversary celebration in March this year in Hollywood for its program Bantay Bata (Child Watch)

But ABS-CBN Foundation International wants people to know that it has much more to offer to people who want to help. Thus, it launched its “We Believe in The Power of Good” campaign and was joined by top Filipino celebrities as campaign ambassadors: Bea Alonzo for Bantay Bata; Gerald Anderson for Sagip Kapamilya; Robi Domingo for Programa Genio; Jodi Sta Maria for BayaniJuan; and Piolo Pascual for Bantay Kalikasan.

“The ‘We Believe in The Power of Good’ campaign is a movement that we created to bring positive change to the lives of millions in the Philippines through our various programs,” said ABS-CBN Foundation International Managing Director Jo Ann Kyle. “We have partnered with business owners and/or corporations who believe in what we’re doing and also developed a Power of Good seal which is awarded to our partners/donors who are one with us in serving the community. The ‘power of good’ is not just kind words and good intentions, though they are an inherent part of it; but it is more of positive energy and meaningful outcomes resulting from authentic, responsible and strategic acts of goodness. We are grateful to our celebrity ambassadors for believing in this and we invite everyone to join us in this movement.”

All Day Mart aggressively expands reach

All Day is aggressively expanding its reach as its services will be made available in many provinces and municipalities to make sure its presence is felt wherever there's a Filipino family.

www.myrnaroman.com

Following the success of the All Day Convenience Store chain, particularly in their ability to discern and provide the needs and delights of its buyers, All Day is mobilizing this expertise on a larger scale, creating places where families don’t just drop by, get what they need then leave, but rather venues where friends can meet and parents can bring the kids – making grocery shopping a much-anticipated family affair.

All Day Convenience Store -- What Started It All

All Day convenience store focuses on fulfilling the needs of grab and go shoppers. The store goes beyond offering a broad selection of grocery products with their affordable fast food meals, such as siopao, hotdogs, pizza, soft-serve sundaes and sandwiches, salads, desserts prepared fresh daily. Aside from these,  there are added convenienc as All Day stores are equipped with service centers for your quick cellphone reloading and bills payment.

All Day takes the concept of the convenience store a step further by becoming your everyday neighborhood store and hangout.

A Whole Selection of All Day Marts

Believing that all communities are not the same, All Day has created a line of neighborhood stores: grocery stores smaller than the Supermarket and designed to service the specific needs of a community. Each store is configured and stocked to address the particular day-to-day essentials of each unique neighborhood.

Like in the Supermarket, walking into the All Day Marts transports one into a well-designed mini market place with its numerous fruit and vegetable racks and open chillers.

As neighborhood stores, All Day Marts offer a wide variety of products that is part and parcel of daily living.

One doesn’t need to go far to get one’s groceries fresh and at affordable prices. The All Day Marts carry fresh produce, meat, poultry, bread, and other grocery staples – and each All Day savings tag guarantees that customers are getting a good deal. All Day Mart’s longer operating hours work perfectly for those who prepare breakfast very early in the morning, or come home from work late in the evening.

All Day is setting its sights beyond residential communities and is all set to move into other local neighborhoods, schools, commercial centers, business offices, and key locations around the country.

All Day stores mostly located within Vista Land communities - making it your everyday "neighborhood store" and possibly, hang out. Its location within the community's perimeter makes it a safe place for residents to meet and stock up on needed supplies, including the occasional treats for the kids.

DepEd statement addressing the accusation of misinforming the President about the K to 12 Program

The Department of Education (DepEd) strongly objects to the accusation that DepEd officials and other agencies are feeding President Benigno S. Aquino III with wrong information on the readiness of the government to implement the K to 12 Program. The Department maintains fidelity to the Filipino people and assures them that we continue to be transparent and accountable

We reiterate that the government is on track in the implementation of the K to 12 Program. In fact, DepEd has built 86,478 classrooms and hired 128,105 teachers from 2010 to 2014. DepEd has already requested funds for the construction of 27,499 classrooms, and will be hiring 37,000 teachers in 2016 for Senior High School alone.

As part of our rigorous preparations for the nationwide implementation of Senior High School, DepEd has identified and mapped over 5,800 public schools set to offer Senior High School (SHS) in 2016. There are also 2,199 non-DepEd schools cleared to offer Senior High School and over 200 more applications being processed. DepEd also released the partial list of schools that will offer Senior High School in 2016. It may be viewed through www.deped.gov.ph/datasets.

We urge those who have concerns to provide specific details so we may address the issues at hand and provide immediate actions, as effective governance requires. We continue to work together with our education partners from different sectors to ensure the successful implementation of this program for the benefit of the Filipino learners.

Vigan officially inaugurated as a New7Wonders City

The Historic Vigan in the province of Ilocos Sur was officially inaugurated as The New7Wonders City recently held within the precincts of St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral.

Vigan, established in the 16th century, represents a fusion of cultural elements from the Philippines, China and Europe, creating a city that is without equal in Asia.

The Philippines Vice President Jejomar Binay was the guest speaker at the inauguration. Binay said that the event should serve as an inspiration for how heritage preservation can be best harmonized with urban development.

“In our quest to become strong competitors in the ASEAN and global economies, we cannot be too quick to tear down the old to build the new without serious deliberation and debate,” he said.

“As Vigan has proven, prosperity is not always measured by a city’s skyline. And it is not just malls that can bring in tourists and trade,” Binay add.

Binay urged the people of Vigan to remain committed to promoting their culture and share their best practices to other regions.

“Billions of dollars have been spent in cultural preservation and restoration. These costs would not have been incurred if peoples — past and present — had been mindful of their actions, if they had had more respect for their own and other peoples’ cultural legacies and for our own earth,” he said.

Vigan is the first of the New7Wonders Cities been officially inaugurated, the same moment during the unveiling of a specially-commissioned bronze commemorative plaque, which was cast in the Kunstgießerei München, a famous foundry in the heart of Munich, Germany.

One of the 7 that represent the global diversity of urban society, Vigan, is joined in the “canon of 7″ byBeirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Durban (South Africa), Havana (Cuba), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and La Paz(Bolivia).
