To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund in the Philippines, launched the “Here for Her” campaign. The Here for Her Campaign is a call to action engaging all stakeholders to accelerate the pace in empowering women and girls to realize their rights and full potential. This flagship campaign is launched to promote commitment to end preventable maternal deaths, end unintended pregnancies, and prevent gender-based violence and other harmful practices.

The launch of Here for Her Campaign is on the day of the United Nations’ International Women’s Day with the theme of “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” Achieving gender equality is further challenged by climate change.

“Women and girls are effective and powerful leaders and change-makers for climate adaptation and mitigation. ” shared Dr. Leila Sajii Joudane, UNFPA Country Representative to the Philippines. “Climate change is not gender-neutral. It is a multiplier of existing inequalities and vulnerabilities.

During humanitarian crises, UNFPA leads in upholding the health and dignity of women and girls by preventing and responding to gender-based violence, addressing the delivery of emergency reproductive health kits and ensuring safe childbirth. These efforts are seen in previous calamities, including Super Typhoon Odette (Rai).

The Series Returns March 25

Netflix and Shondaland released the official trailer and new images for Bridgerton Season 2. The new photos take a look at a fan favorite Pall Mall game from the book which appears this season on screen. Bridgerton returns for a second season on March 25, 2022. In keeping with the tradition of the novels, season two tells the romance story of Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love. Vivian Velez leads "ISAng Pilipinas", a coalition pushes the Isko Moreno - Sara Duterte tandem

Veteran actress and the current director-general of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), Vivian Velez spearheaded the launch of a coalition called "ISAng Pilipinas" held at Club Filipino, San Juan City, Wednesday, March 9.

Velez, the lead convenor of the "ISAng Pilipinas" (an acronym for the first names of Moreno and Duterte) said the group’s choice of Moreno and Duterte was a result of a long vetting process of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Velez said that "ISAng Pilipinas" is a private initiative and not officially endorsed by the President. Supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno formed a coalition, an alliance backing the tandem of Moreno and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, for the upcoming elections.

Velez added that the Manila chief executive is the best choice among all presidential candidates.

One of the main reasons was, they are both Mayors, who know how to govern anything (especially crisis) to have a good nation. 

“I think the mayors are the best people to run this country especially when we have a crisis,” said Velez

Along with film producer Edith Fider who released the recent biopic of Moreno, Velez, also said she chose Moreno mainly because of his clear platform in supporting the recovery of the film and allied entertainment industry, which is not resonant in other candidates’ programs of the government.

"Yan ang pinanghahawakan ko kaya sinusuportahan ko si Isko,” Velez said.

Two-day event filled with music and fun activities with trendiest P-Pop acts

P-Pop fans rejoice! The moment you’ve all been waiting for is finally here! Meet your faves, get to interact with your biases, and create lasting memories with your idols at the first Pinoy Pop Convention (PPOPCON) happening this April 9 to 10 in the City of Firsts!

PPOPCON is billed to be the first and largest event that celebrates Pinoy Pop Music and is eyed to be a great venue to build and strengthen the growing P-Pop community. The event is expected to be attended by idol groups SB19, MNL48, BGYO, BINI, Alamat, 1st.One, Press Hit Play and 4th Impact. Up and coming acts like VXON, KAIA, DAYDREAM, YARA, VER5US, G22, and more will be gracing the PPOPCON stage as well!

“P-Pop is quickly gaining international attention and many fans are recognizing the talent andpassion of many P-Pop acts. Through PPOPCON, we are celebrating the growing P-Pop community through the first event of its kind right here at the City of Firsts,” said Andhie Salutin, Project head of PPOPCON.

It will be divided into a convention which will happen at the New Frontier Theater and will be capped off with a concert at the Araneta Coliseum, which fans can also attend live, making it one of the biggest entertainment events to take place at the Big Dome since 2020. The hybrid concert will happen on-ground, with fans to be allowed inside the venue, and will be live-streamed online simultaneously.

The convention will feature fanbase activities, booths, selling of official merch, games, and performances by some of the trendiest names in P-Pop today. The interaction between fanbases such as A’TIN, MNLoves, ACEs, Mga Magiliw, and more in the two-day event is something we look forward to!

Meanwhile, the concert taking place on April 10 from 3 PM to 7 PM will be headlined by heavyweights like SB19, 4th Impact, MNL48, BGYO, and many others!

“PPOPCON marks the return of live entertainment and a return of audiences to this type of event since the start of the pandemic,” Irene Jose, COO of Uniprom, the entertainment unit of the Araneta Group said. “We are excited to welcome fans back to the home of entertainment—Araneta City.
