Earlier, the flag carrier donated two million pesos to the AFP for the soldiers who are fighting or have fought in Marawi.

The Tan Yan Kee Foundation – the corporate social responsibility arm of the LT Group as well as the PAL foundation are carrying out donation drives and humanitarian cargo grants, respectively, for those affected by the Marawi situation.

You are Called to Rescue against Human Trafficking

Called to Rescue and Boutique Burger Kitchen invite everyone to help stop human trafficking

Losing someone you love is a terrifying situation that no one would ever want to experience. This is the sad reality our society is facing today as every one minute, a child or a woman, becomes a victim of human trafficking. That's 500,000 head counts in 2016 alone.

Human trafficking is a serious problem in the country and will remain one unless everyone is called to rescue these children.

Called to Rescue founder Dr. Cyndi Romine and social media supporter Vince Nunez demonstrate basic self-defense to other supporters and volunteers
Take action with Called to Rescue, a non-profit, worldwide organization dedicated to the rescuing of minor children from sex trafficking, violence, and abuse.

Founded in 1988 by Dr. Cyndi Romine, who is one of the leading authorities in the fight against children injustices, Called to Rescue is dedicated towards combating child trafficking in three ways: prevention through education and training of youth of all ages and their parents, dedication to the child until he/she has experienced healing, and continuation in every aspect of child trafficking awareness. Called to Rescue Philippines was officially registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in 2009, with Mr. Anthony Pangilinan as its Officer-in-Charge.

Child trafficking cannot be tackled alone. That is why it is only through collaborative partnerships with individuals and organizations can this inhumane crime be stopped. Several advocates and social media supporters have recently gathered for an immersion program so that they can also inform and educate their network about the situation and how each one can help. The activity was organized by Called to Rescue supporters Stephanie Henares, communications agency ComCo Southeast Asia and Boutique Burger Kitchen (BBK), a family-oriented diner from Chef Carlo Miguel of Draft Gastropub that serves retro-style gourmet American burgers in the Fort Strip in Bonifacio Global City.

Defend the defenseless; save the children from being exploited for the gain of traffickers. A child lost to trafficking is the lost child of a devastated and helpless parent. Don’t let that happen to anyone else.

Report trafficking, abuse, and cases of missing children with the Called to Rescue’s local hotline at 0917-541-0287 or visit their Facebook page www.facebook.com/Called2RescuePh/ or website at calledtorescue.com.ph.

The new ambassador of Silka, Yassi Pressman, shares her success story: “Great things come to those who wait”

The Filipino-British beauty, smart and talented actress, Yassi Pressman has been ranked among the country’s most sought-after leading ladies of this generation. In fact, her latest television project lists her as the main character’s lady love, a role that propelled the 22-year-old actress into ultimate stardom. However, many people do not realize that Yassi has been in the showbiz industry for more than a decade, and that her path to success hasn’t always been a walk through the park.

“Marami akong naging pagsubok sa showbiz. Ilang beses na din akong hindi natanggap sa mga audition, pero tuloy lang ang laban. Sabi ko nga sa sarili ko, don’t try to rush things that need time to grow. With hard work, dadating ang para sa iyo sa tamang panahon kasi kapag minamadali, nagkakamali,” says Yassi.

Now at the peak of her acting career, Yassi spends an average of 8 hours in a shoot and sits in the hair and make-up chair for around 3 hours. With barely enough time to sleep and rest, Yassi is able to maintain a healthy, bright and beautiful skin.

The secret to her glow? Silka Papaya Soap, the number one beauty soap in the Philippines.

Packed with papaya enzymes for exfoliation and Vitamin E for moisturizing, Silka Papaya Soap gives Yassi naturally beautiful skin.

“Yassi’s career demands her to be always at her best and to maintain a healthy, glowing skin. With Silka Papaya Soap, we make sure to take care of Yassi’s skin in an everyday basis. There are no instant solutions because beauty is an everyday regimen. This is paralleled with the success story of Yassi and that’s what makes her an inspiration to all the women who aspire to be like her,” says Jane Co, Silka’s Marketing Manager.

In the age of everything “instant,” Yassi is truly an example of grace, beauty and diligence. She knows that natural beauty is not rushed and more importantly, success is not something to be achieved overnight. And at the rate Yassi is going, it seems like this go-getter is not stopping anytime soon.

RCBC reveals “We believe in you” philosophy

Rizal Commercial Bank Corporation (RCBC), one of the leading universal banks in the Philippines, today unveils its new corporate logo and tagline “We believe in you,” which signals the start of a new era of providing excellent and trusted banking services for Filipinos.

“This milestone signals the arrival of a more committed, refreshed and re-energized RCBC, that is ready to meet the demands of the ever-changing Philippine banking industry,” said RCBC President and CEO Gil A. Buenaventura.

“We believe in you” is not just a tagline for RCBC, but a battle cry to show our unwavering support and trust to the indomitable Filipino spirit. At the same time, this new corporate thrust is meant to encourage Filipinos not only to dream, but to pursue their passions and dreams, and turn them into reality – whether it’s traveling to your dream destination, venturing into a new business, or purchasing a new home or car,” Buenaventura stressed.

The simpler, younger and more minimalist logo embodies RCBC’s new mission of being more accessible to younger Filipino depositors, who are looking for better ways to save and grow their money, the RCBC president added.

Ces Natividad, RCBC Chief Marketing Officer, reveals that the new logo and corporate tagline are the bank’s response to the changing market.

“We wanted to know what products and services today’s depositors actually need, and we strived to understand what makes them believe and trust a particular bank. We realized that today’s depositors need an approachable bank that responds to their needs, and believes in the value of their dreams and aspirations,” Natividad shared.

“RCBC wants Filipinos to know that the bank believes that there is no limit in the things they can achieve if they decide to start building their future early, especially with a strong banking partner, ready to advise them every step of the way. We are providing more emphasis to younger depositors, who need more guidance in managing their money,” Natividad added.

Estimates from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that 1/3 of the Philippine population are millennials. A 2015 Labor Force Survey, also by the PSA, showed that 47.1 percent of the 42 million labor force belongs to the 15-34 age group. This means that more and younger Filipinos need bank services to manage their finances.

Natividad cited a wide array of RCBC products that allow customers to save and conveniently manage their finances. These include RCBC’s Debit Cards, which depositors can get when they open an RCBC savings or checking account. She also emphasized RCBC’s product portfolio which customers can manage online such as the Unit Investment Trust Funds and iSave, an automatic deduction from existing RCBC accounts, done every payroll, which helps depositors to set aside money for future use.

Natividad also cited the unli 0% option of RCBC Bankard, which gives cardholders the flexibility to manage their expenses.

The bank’s brand refresh comes as RCBC enters its 57th year of excellent business in the Philippines. The bank reached a consolidated net income of P1 billion in the first quarter of 2017. It also showed more strength as assets increased to P526 billion as of March 2017. RCBC’s total number of branches also increased to 489 while ATM terminals increased to more than 1,500 nationwide as of the first quarter of 2017.

“We are confident that the new brand logo and new corporate tagline, and the re-energized service of the bank, will resonate with more Filipinos. We believe that they can accomplish great things if they put their hearts and mind into it, and RCBC will always be their partner to help them succeed,” Natividad added.

Actor Ian Veneracion finds a new love . . . in Ascof Lagundi

At age 42, gentleman actor and reluctant heartthrob Ian Veneracion appears to be a star whose time has come. Although he started acting at the age of 5, Veneracion’s career took a long, circuitous route to leading man status, something he finally achieved when he was cast as a swoon-worthy hero in hit TV soaps.

Today he seems unstoppable, his career trajectory leading him to a place that much younger and more aggressive actors have yet to reach.

Ironically, it is from this enviable place that Veneracion now seeks balance even as he appreciates the perks of stardom. He has kept the debonair good looks that make fans—age 18 to 80—swoon, yes, but the Gen X actor now finds fulfillment in matters that are more constant and stable, and less transitory.

This probably has much to do with being married to a loving wife and having three wonderful children. Veneracion readily affirms that there is always more to life than the glitz of show business.

At 42, actor Ian Veneracion has become more discerning of his life choices. That is why he places his full trust only in Ascof Forte Menthol Syrup as his cough remedy, as it is made from 100% organically grown Lagundi leaves.
“Forty is like, you spent the first half of your life trying to learn who you want to be. You did stuff that you wanted to try out. At age 40, ‘yun ‘yung complete na—you know who you are, you know what’s right and wrong, you have your own values. For me, it’s just the start of the flight. When you reach this age, you know exactly where you’re coming from, where you’re at, and where you’re going.”
Veneracion then gently asserts, “Life is my priority, not work.” This gives clarity to his life decisions. Like why maintaining a healthy lifestyle is of tremendous importance to him, and why he always makes sure that he is at his best and healthiest self.

Heartthrob dad Ian Veneracion prefers Ascof Forte Menthol Syrup as his remedy for cough and bronchial asthma because of its “hagod-menthol” soothing effect, which gives quick relief from sore and itchy throat.

With a broader understanding of himself, Ian has come to prioritize his health and wellbeing above anything else and has become more discerning of his life choices. That is why for his cough remedy, Ian places his trust only in Ascof Lagundi, especially now that the rainy season is here and respiratory ailments are very common.

Ascof Lagundi, the innovative and pioneering cough remedy in the Philippines, is made from 100 percent organically grown Lagundi leaves, making it a natural, safe, and effective relief for cough and bronchial asthma.

Veneracion says that it is for this reason that he immediately accepted the offer to become Ascof’s newest official endorser.
“It’s something that I actually take. When my manager informed me that Ascof wanted to sign me up as its endorser, I said, ‘Perfect! Just last week I had Ascof Lagundi in my bag.’ I definitely believe in the product.”
The actor likewise shares that he takes Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol even during tapings and shoots, and encourages others like him to choose Ascof as the preferred option over chemical medicines and other similar natural remedies for cough.

“You can trust Ascof Lagundi. It’s a natural remedy that you may take even at the onset of a cough, and when you are just starting to show its early symptoms. Hindi ka matatakot kasi safe siya,” he assures everyone.

Veneracion uses the variant Ascof Forte Menthol Syrup, either sugar-free or regular, because of its ‘hagod-menthol’ soothing effect on the throat.

“There are other variants both for kids and adults, but my personal favorite is ASCOF Forte Menthol Sugar Free Syrup because it actually gives me instant relief from sore and itchy throat due to cough,” he explains.

Pascual Laboratories, the manufacturer of Ascof Lagundi, has its own lagundi farm in Nueva Ecija that uses a GMP-certified production process to cultivate the traditional herbal plant. Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol is a product of scientific research and clinical studies.

Veneracion considers Ascof Lagundi as his newfound love since it is always there when he needs it most. “Getting enough sleep and eating properly are important to keep your body healthy. Pero kapag tinamaan kayo ng cough, of course you should take Ascof Lagundi.”

For inquiries and more details about Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol Syrup, visit their official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ASCOFLagundi or their official website at http://www.pascuallab.com/index.php/ascof.

Excite your kids with bento box lunches with Fresh Options

One of the biggest challenges every mom faces once the school year rolls in is figuring out what to pack into the kids’ lunchbox or baon.  Although every mother wants to prepare a healthy and hearty baon, the truth of the matter is, their school-aged children hardly touch their vegetables, fruits or healthy dishes when they're away at school.  Picky eaters, in particular, find ways to eat around their baon by choosing only the tidbits they think are tasty enough for them.

So how can make sure that your kids will eat the nutritious meal you packed for them?  Based on one mom’s experience, the answer to this is to make it kid-friendly.  In other words:  eye-catching, engaging and delicious.  This can be achieved by applying the time-honored food preparation technique of the Japanese – the bento box.

Creating a bento meal for kids is easy as long as you have the right ingredients, like Fresh Options Kiddie Goodie line, and a playful mindset.  Bento meal designs need not be complex as long as they’re interesting enough to entice your child to explore and finish each segment of their meal.

Fresh Options’ Kiddie Goodie food line is a perfect complement to bento baons.  These include varieties of hotdogs, patties and breaded products such as chicken nuggets, drumettes, chicken pops and breaded pork patties.  Kiddie Goodie products are easy to cook, easy to handle (when putting inside the bento) and delicious. Available in all Fresh Options stores in Luzon, they are every mom's go-to solution for kid-approved bento baons.

Try your hand at preparing a bento baon for your kid with these kiddie-approved recipes created by Noobcookery’s bento aficionado Diane Gabriel, which she served and were enjoyed by her two kids.  Use Fresh Options Kiddie Goodie line to make it easier for you (and yummier for the kids) to prepare each lunchbox.  Fresh Options Kiddie Goodie line is available at all Fresh Options stores in Luzon.

Christian Bautista To Release Second Single “Huling Harana” This July 28

Having a multitude of accolades under his belt doesn’t stop Christian Bautista from pursuing new ventures. Last June, the City of Manila and Mayor Joseph Estrada presented Asia’s Romantic Balladeer with the “Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan” award for his contribution in the local and international music scene. Christian said in an interview that receiving the award felt “close to home” because the awardees were carefully chosen by “those within the [Manila] community” themselves. Aside from being a critically acclaimed icon in the music industry, the singer is also known for his character, Winston, in GMA-7’s hit television show “My Love From The Star” which airs from Monday to Friday and also stars Jennelyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva.

The renowned hit-maker recently launched his latest single, Kapit, under Universal Records. The track, which Christian describes as one that speaks of “holding on” in the face of a relationship’s trials, is the theme song of GMA-7’s primetime Koreanovela, “Innocent Defendant”. The Korean TV drama is scheduled after “I Heart Davao” and before “Saksi” on the premier television network. The music video for the said song, shot in Solaire Resort and Casino, premiered last month as well. The carrier single served as a sneak peek for Christian’s upcoming album, which the sought-after vocalist reveals is a new phase and a kind of self-rediscovery.

The second single for the much-anticipated album is entitled Huling Harana, which Christian explains is a track that veers away from the typical Broadway vibe. The “hugot”-filled ballad, written by Banda Ni Kleggy’s Rye Sarmiento, is a follow-up to the successful carrier track, Kapit. It will be available digitally this July 28 on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, and Spinnr.

Equipped with exemplary songwriting expertise and years of experience in the industry, Christian Bautista has scheduled his album—which he co-wrote and co-produced himself with the help of Universal Records—for release very soon. He is currently working on new materials for the upcoming record.

Hunt for the best burger in town? Your New Favorite Burger is at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

The hunt for the best burger in town can be an arduous process. The classic comfort food meal has been adapted and transformed in so many ways that it can be difficult to sift through the market to find the one that perfectly satisfies your criteria. With so many elaborate versions of the simple burger-and-fries combination, sometimes it’s good to go back to basics: a patty expertly made from the highest quality beef, fresh crisp vegetables, perfectly toasted yet soft buns, golden-brown fries, and a refreshing drink.

If this sounds exactly like the burger that you’ve been craving for, then your search ends at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Manila. Bounty Fresh Saucy ToriKaraage: a quick fix real meal for young professionals

Today’s young professionals need not worry about having a real meal that is quick and easy to prepare. The country’s leading poultry brand, Bounty Fresh, launched its newest product, the Saucy ToriKaraage – a quick fix, 100% all-natural chicken meal.

Preparing a real meal is never easy. Just the amount of time and the number of steps involved is more than enough to overwhelm young professionals who have just arrived home from a long day at work.

With great focus on their career growth and passions, today’s young generation do not have the time to wait for meats to thaw, chop vegetables, and find the perfect mix of condiments. Food must be quick and easy to prepare, involving a maximum of three steps.

And that is all it takes to prepare the Saucy ToriKaraage – 7 to 8 minutes of cooking and it’s like having your favorite meal served.

Made with only the freshest chicken and with two flavourful variants to choose from – Teriyaki and Sweet and Sour – the Bounty Fresh Saucy ToriKaraage definitely meets the demands of young professionals and their fast-paced lifestyle. It’s an all-natural chicken meal that does not require complex preparations.

The Bounty Fresh Saucy ToriKaraage is now available in leading supermarkets nationwide.

Lamoiyan Corporation helps students beat back to school blues

Re-establishing routines and adapting to school hours are a few things that make going back to school a difficult transition for children. But for many kids, this is just a fraction of what they have to deal with when school season starts.

A medical check-up by the Department of Education Health and Nutrition of over 3 million public school students showed that 436,325 of them had pediculosis (head lice infestation), making it one of the leading health problems of public school students in the country.

Children are teased and bullied for having head lice, which is also a common cause for them to miss school. The stigma associated with having pediculosis can leave lasting damage to children’s psychological well-being and leave them isolated from their peers.

To raise awareness about head lice infestation issues, and to help combat health problems commonly faced by students, Lamoiyan Corporation partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) and donated over 5,000 hygiene product packs to schools in Cebu City.

Kids celebrate being kuto-free

Marketing Director Bing Cavestany, Senior Marketing Associate Jacquiline Pe, and other Lamoiyan representatives were present during the Brigada Eskwela National Kick-off to help distribute packs of Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo, Hapee and Hapee Kiddie Toothpaste.

“This is an amazing opportunity for us to give back to schools and communities,” said Bing Cavestany, Marketing Director of Lamoiyan. “We believe in taking an active role in promoting health and education, so joining efforts like Brigada Eskwela is an important priority for Lamoiyan and our advocacy.”

As a part of its partnership with DepEd, Lamoiyan will also donate Licealiz and Hapee products to public schools in other regions across the country. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with DepEd and in working hand in hand with them in addressing health problems of school children in the country,” said Cavestany.

Pediculosis is a leading health problem in the country, but it is preventable with the right treatment. Avoid sharing combs, hats, pillows and other head ornaments and pieces of clothing that may lead to lice infestation. Keep your surroundings clean; head lice can live up to three days off the scalp and may attach themselves on upholstery, mattresses, and other pieces of furniture. And regularly check your children and family members for head lice with a suyod.
