Levi’s PH rocks the colorful Dinagyang Festival

Levi’s holds a celebratory sale at Robinson’s Iloilo during the weeklong festival as a fun treat for all Levi’s lovers in the city.

Vibrant costumes, lively dances, and high-adrenaline revelers marked this year’s Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City. Held annually in late January in honor of the Sto. Niño, the Dinagyang featured a week of festivities that had kaleidoscopic hues matching the wildly celebratory mood of the city.

Still, an all-too-familiar color stood out in the midst of the frenzied activities—Levi’s denim blue.

To add star power to one of the country’s most popular festivals, Levi’s Philippines flew in international singer Charice Pempengo and DJ Ron Poe for Levi’s Night, a lively party held at the Prism Night Life last Jan. 23.

International singer Charice Pempengco adds star power to Dinagyang Festival as she performs a slew of hit cover songs during Levi’s Night last Jan. 23.
The crowd went crazy when Charice performed her covers of a slew of hit songs. Meanwhile, DJ Ron revved up the energy that night as everyone danced to his beat, letting the party end on a high note.

Levi’s likewise held a celebratory sale at Robinson’s Iloilo during the weeklong festival as a fun treat for all Levi’s lovers in the city. To top it all, Levi’s fans with a Php2,500 single receipt purchase were given two free passes for the Levi’s Night party.

Levi’s Philippines makes Dinagyang Festival extra festive by bringing in international singer Charice and DJ Ron Poe during Levi’s Night at the Prism Night Life last Jan. 23.

“We certainly couldn’t miss one of the biggest festivals in the country and we made sure that the Dinagyang was made extra special for all Levi’s lovers in Iloilo,” said Kaths Laudit, Levi’s Philippines Marketing head. “Levi’s decided to extend its ‘thank you’ to all loyal Levi’s fans in the Visayas by treating them to an epic Levi’s Night and a big sale.”

DJ Ron Poe revved up the energy during the Levi’s Night during Dinagyang Festival as everyone danced to his beat, letting the party end on a high note.
The brand’s attendance at Iloilo’s premier festival was only the first of the many high-profile events, concerts, and fashion shows in 2016 as Laudit promises a year full of surprises—from the launch of new collections to the holding of big sales.

“The Dinagyang was just our first salvo. Expect bigger events and much bigger sales for the rest of the year,” Laudit enthusiastically declared.

The group’s attendance will mark the first time that a representative from the Philippines will grace the global event which will be held on March 11-13, 2016 in New Delhi, India.

The Buyogan Festival is a group of cultural performers from Leyte, which was critically impacted by Typhoon Yolanda three years ago. They have won several championships at the Sinulog Festival and are proud to represent the nation in this historic event.
They have choreographed a special performance which is a tribute to the world for their help after Typhoon Hayien and also showing the resilience of the Filipinos moving from devastation to rehabilitation and to celebration.

The WCF is part of the 35th anniversary celebration of The Art of Living, a global movement founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

The Art of Living is looking for generous benefactors and sponsors who would like to contribute and make the dream of the award-winning Buyogan Festival cultural performers to travel to India a reality.

The Buyogan Festival is a fiesta that is celebrated in the coastal town of Abuyong in Leyte, where the local buyog or bees take the spotlight as vibrant bee dancers perform during a grand parade. No doubt, it would be a shining moment for Tacloban—an area that has been reeling from challenges in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda—its people, and our nation as we showcase the best of the Philippines to the world.

‘World Culture Festival' (WCF) is expected to host millions of people from over 155 countries in New Delhi. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of India.

Beauty for a cause

As part of this year’s activities, PIHABF also launched the search for Miss Aviation. First staged in the 1970s, this one-of-a-kind beauty pageant aims to promote, advocate and inspire the youth to take up a career in aviation, and support the country’s local tourism efforts. Twenty (20) female aviation students and professionals will vie for the title which will be awarded onFebruary 10, 2015 during the Annual Aviator’s Ball to be held at the Manila Peninsula.

An outstanding pilot will also be receiving the Aviator of the Year Award during the Annual Aviator’s Ball which is a recognition given to aviators who have made outstanding contributions in upgrading the standards of safety and aviation interests in their regions. Other recognitions to be awarded during the event are: Fixed Wing Pilot of the Year, Helicopter Pilot of the Year, Flight Instructor of the Year, Female Pilot of the Year, CAAP Check Pilot of the Year, CAAP Controller of the Year and Aircraft Mechanic of the Year.

According to Captain Joy Roa, event director, the fiesta is a platform for improving the country’s aviation standing through collaboration and interaction with international aviators. “We have so much to learn from our foreign counterparts, and this fiesta is an opportunity to share and exchange cultures and ideas. Of course, this is also a chance for us to showcase the world renowned Filipino hospitality,” he said.

The PIHABF organizing committee is composed of volunteer aviation experts and industry practitioners who make sure that the fiesta is carefully planned and safety-oriented.

Roa added, “Despite the challenges and the setbacks, we are dogged in our determination to mount this event year after year because more than a spectacle, this is an advocacy for us. We want to educate everyone, especially the youth, about the beauty of aviation and the many life lessons we can learn from it.”

The PIHABF 2015 was made possible with the support of the Bases Conversion Development Authority, Clark Freeport, Clark International Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, together with media partners the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Malaya Business Insight, Business World, Business Mirror, Pilipino Mirror, Natural 97.9 FM, DWIZ, ABS CBN, and sponsors, SM City Clark, UPS, Prudential Guarantee, Hotdog on Stick, CDO Bibbo Hotdog, Segway, Qube, Kopiko, Rudy Project, The Medical City, Yellow Cab, Tempra, Snow Cone, Flanax, Bonamine, Garant Group and Radio Republic.

Four of the country's best DJs topbill Globe parties in Cebu and Iloilo with their signature beats

Fresh from the launch of its world-renowned GEN3 Stores that brought the Philippine telco experience to global retail standards, Globe Telecom continues the celebration as it treats revellers in Cebu and Iloilo to great music and entertainment with back-to-back parties for two of the country’s biggest festivals: Sinulog and Dinagyang. Taking centerstage in this month’s festivals are four of the country’s best DJs and GEN3 NEXT ACT ambassadors: Mars Miranda, Callum David, Badkiss, and Eric Capili.

“At Globe, we always look forward to giving our customers wonderful experiences and many reasons to celebrate. During the unveiling of our newest GEN3 Stores, we told the stories of today’s biggest DJs as part of the new Stores’ concept to highlight individuals with inspiring stories. This time, we are bringing all four DJs again together for a festival experience that partygoers will surely remember. We are inviting locals and tourists to get ready to celebrate all night at the Globe parties in Cebu and Iloilo,” said Joe Caliro, Head of Retail Transformation at Globe Telecom.

While said to represent the sound of this generation, Badkiss, Callum David, Mars Miranda and Eric Capili each has a unique style and beat capturing crowds of partygoers everywhere. The combination of their energetic sets will surely rev up the parties and will keep everyone dancing non-stop.
DJ Mars Miranda

Mars Miranda, who has made a name for himself in the club scene at an early age, will surely make it a night to remember for everyone. He only has one thing in mind: to make the night worth it for the crowd. "I just want to see people in front of me with all that energy, and feed off it. They came out to see me and it's my responsibility to show them a good time," said Miranda.

Partygoers in Cebu and Iloilo should expect to find themselves on the dancefloor all night long with Callum David on the deck.
DJ Callum David

David said," I listen to the radio and do a lot of research on my own. My music depends on what mood I'm in, but I like to keep people happy, and keep the crowd dancing." David, who came to the Philippines as a model, will combine his love of music and experience as a DJ abroad to win over his Filipino audience.

The crowd can expect an eclectic mix of sounds that’s funky, soulful, and reflect the soul of different decades. Christina Bartges, known as Badkiss to her followers, enjoys combining retro sounds with the latest beats in her sets.
Christina Bartges, known as DJ Badkiss

She shared, “I respect where the music that we listen to today comes from.”

Eric Capili, Boracay’s most sought-after DJ, is taking his talent to Cebu and Iloilo to take on the most challenging Sinulog and Dinagyang partygoers.

DJ Eric Capili
Capili admitted, "I like being challenged to play what the crowd likes. Hinuhuli ko yung kiliti nila. It's like I'm in a relationship with my music—kailangan dalawa kaming magbibigay ng best namin para sa crowd.”

Catch these DJs as they share their best music remixes to get the party going in this year’s Sinulog and Dinagyang Festivals. And the celebration gets even more exciting with the colored powder blasts to shower the audience as they party all night long!

Check their schedules at Sinulog Festival from January 15 to 18 and Dinagyang Festivals on January 22 to 25. The DJs will be performing starting at 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at the Globe Mobility Store on the Go located at One Mango Avenue, Cebu City and Capitol Grounds, Iloilo City.
