2GO, the Philippines’ premier sea travel provider, has formalized a partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to promote locally made products under the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program through its Biyahe2Business campaign.

(L–R) 2GO Travel Head of Product Development George Clayton P. Narag; PhilExport Region 12 Chapter President Cecilia Loquias; PhilExport Head Office Vice President for Promotions Leonor Abella; Head of DTI Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona; 2GO Travel Business Unit Head Francis John Chua; DTI Region 12 Regional Director Flora D. Politud-Gabunales, CESO V; and 2GO Travel AVP for F&B, Ancillary, and Hotel Operations Roland Sunga.

The partnership aims to boost market visibility for regional micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by featuring their OTOP products in dedicated kiosks onboard 2GO Travel vessels. This initiative transforms every voyage into a showcase of regional flavors, craftsmanship, and Filipino pride.

The collaboration officially launches with OTOP products from Region 12 as the first to be featured under the Biyahe2Business program. A special OTOP nook will be installed onboard MV 2GO Masinag, highlighting accredited products in partnership with the local DTI office. More OTOP displays from other regions will soon be available on additional 2GO vessels.

This initiative supports DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC), a platform that provides real-time logistics information, market linkages, and capacity-building programs for MSMEs.

“This collaboration allows DTI regional offices to bring and promote their products across islands through creative and practical logistics solutions,” said DTI-12 Regional Director and DTI-RAPID Growth Project National Director Flora D. Politud-Gabunales, CESO V. “Through this, 2GO has opened new opportunities for MSMEs to reach more customers and for travelers to discover authentic Filipino flavors and craftsmanship from across the country.”

The partnership aligns with 2GO Travel’s ongoing commitment to empower small businesses by improving access to transport and logistics solutions through the 2GO Travel’s Biyahe2Business platform. With this program, 2GO bridges the gap between local entrepreneurs and wider markets, ensuring that Filipino-made products can travel as far and as proudly as the people who create them.

“This partnership underscores our long-term commitment to help small businesses thrive by providing flexible, affordable, and reliable transport solutions,” said Francis John Chua, Business Unit Head for 2GO Travel. “With our generous 50KG luggage allowance, SMEs can move their products and supplies more freely across islands. This advantage supports their growth and reach. At 2GO, we believe sea travel is not only about connecting destinations, but also about connecting communities, celebrating culture, and enabling commerce. Through this initiative, we bring the best of every region to more Filipinos.”

Beyond showcasing local products, 2GO Travel, as DTI’s official travel and logistics partner, will offer group tour packages and exclusive MSME travel discounts. These programs will provide cost-effective and dependable mobility solutions for entrepreneurs. With direct routes from Manila to major trade hubs such as Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and its newest destinations Davao and General Santos City, 2GO continues to strengthen national connectivity for trade and enterprise.

As part of the agreement, 2GO will also provide consultancy and logistics advisory services tailored to MSME needs and support Logistics Support Desks at select Negosyo Centers in key regions.

2GO Moves The Mind Museum’s Mind Rover to Puerto Princesa

The Mind Rover travels to Palawan via 2GO.

2GO, the Philippines’ largest logistics and sea travel provider, has once again partnered with The Mind Museum to bring the wonders of science closer to the islands. This time, the collaboration takes the Mind Rover to Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

As part of this initiative, and ahead of the Mind Rover’s arrival in Palawan, passengers aboard MV 2GO St. Francis Xavier sailing from Manila to Puerto Princesa and Coron over the weekend enjoyed a series of exciting, science-themed activities onboard. Curated by The Mind Museum, these interactive sessions brought STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning to life. They turn sea travel into a fun, meaningful, and enriching experience for both kids and adults onboard.

This unique initiative brought logistics and learning together to move not just people and goods but also spark curiosity and imagination across the sea.

“We are thrilled to partner with 2GO. Through its shipping capabilities, the Mind Rover gets to visit provinces in the Philippines where it would have taken weeks if traveled by land and would have been difficult to transport without 2GO’s direct link from Manila. Through this partnership, we are able to impact more communities and hopefully encourage more kids to have an inspired engagement and view of science or maybe, even take up STEM in the future. We even get to reach more audiences as we also do science shows on board 2GO!,” said Maria Isabel Garcia, Managing Director and Curator of The Mind Museum.

Now on its third leg, the Mind Rover has successfully crossed Philippine seas through 2GO, following activations in Bacolod and General Santos. It now reaches Puerto Princesa with the same mission: to reimagine science, make it more exciting, and spark inspiration among Filipino children to become the country’s next generation of scientists and innovators.

"We are delighted to be part of this meaningful partnership. It is an honor to bring science closer to Filipino families through a unique onboard experience. By mounting the Mind Rover exhibit aboard our ships, in partnership with The Mind Museum, we’re creating a space for families to explore themes of sea travel, sustainability, and basic science while in transit. We believe that part of appreciating sea travel is understanding how it works — and through this experience, we hope to spark curiosity, awareness, and a deeper connection with our oceans," said Francis Chua, Business Unit Head of 2GO Travel.

The Mind Rover is a 12-meter museum-on-wheels packed with interactive and hands-on exhibits, and live science shows and demonstrations. It continues to fulfill its mission of bringing science beyond museum walls and into underserved island communities. The Puerto Princesa leg is the latest in a growing series of island activations made possible through collaborations like this.

With operations across 19 ports nationwide and a firm commitment to moving communities forward, 2GO’s partnership with The Mind Museum underscores its role not just as a logistics provider, but as a bridge to learning, creativity, and nation-building.

This collaboration reflects the power of purposeful partnerships in delivering meaningful, mind-moving experiences both at sea and on land.

La Union LGU and GCash team up to enable cashless payments for eco-tourism fees in San Juan, La Union

Tourists can now pay the PHP 50.00 environmental fees in San Juan, La Union via GCash

As part of its ongoing push for sustainable tourism and environmental protection, the Municipality of San Juan, La Union, has partnered with GCash, the country’s leading finance app, to launch a cashless system for collecting eco-tourism fees. This convenient and simpler payment option will help ensure cleaner beaches, improved waste management, and stronger support for the town’s growing tourist economy.

San Juan, known for its surf culture and scenic beaches, faces challenges in collecting environmental fees due to its open layout and multiple beach access points. This has often led to missed payments and limited funds for keeping the town clean and well-maintained.

Using GCash’s Scan-to-Pay (STP) feature, tourists can conveniently pay the ₱50 environmental fee by scanning QR codes available in over 200 local establishments, such as hotels, cafĂ©s, and resorts, as well as in six designated Environmental Fee Hubs across the town.

Soon, QR codes will also be placed directly at key tourist spots and entry points to encourage on-the-spot payments and improve accessibility. This seamless, cashless system is designed to integrate smoothly into the visitor experience.

“This partnership reflects our shared goal of keeping San Juan clean and sustainable,” said Mayor Arturo Valdriz. “It gives both locals and tourists a simple way to help protect our environment,” San Juan Mayor Arturo Valdriz said.

The digital system makes payments more convenient for visitors. It helps the local government track collections in real time, improving transparency and ensuring the funds go directly to environmental programs like waste management and beach cleanups. With the partnership now in place and early results positive, the municipality plans to expand the program to more locations, further supporting the town's environmental efforts.

“With GCash, every eco-fee helps preserve the beauty of San Juan’s beaches and landscapes for future generations,” San Juan Tourism head Ezikiel Lanuzo said.

By streamlining digital payment solutions, GCash, together with its partners in local government, champions communities and promotes sustainability — one scan at a time. Building on the success of this initiative, the Public Sector team of GCash is looking to scale the program by partnering with more local government units across the country, supporting their efforts to adopt easy, convenient, safe, and secure e-payment solutions.

DOT highlights farm tourism’s transformative potential at 8th Philippine International Farm Tourism Conference

GENERAL SANTOS CITY Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco reaffirmed the Philippine government’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive economic growth through the promotion of farm tourism at the 8th Philippine International Farm Tourism Conference (PIFTC), held Tuesday (Feb. 25) at the KCC Mall in General Santos City, South Cotabato.

The ceremonial turnover of hosting duties from General Santos City to Baguio City for the next Philippine International Farm Tourism Conference led by Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, International School of Sustainable Tourism Chair Mina Gabor, and General Santos Councilor Virgie Tiongson Llido.

The three-day conference, organized by the International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST) in partnership with the DOT, brought together local and international experts, policymakers, farmers, and tourism stakeholders. The event aimed to highlight General Santos City’s potential as a leading destination for sustainable and innovative farm tourism practices.

In her keynote address, Secretary Frasco underscored the transformative potential of farm tourism in driving rural development, ensuring food security, and preserving the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage.

“At the heart of farm tourism lies a simple yet powerful idea: our farms are more than just places of production. They are living landscapes of culture, history, and sustainability—where traditions are passed down, innovation takes root, and communities find new pathways to prosperity,” Secretary Frasco said.

“Under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we recognize farm tourism’s vital role in contributing to our nation’s prosperity. Guided by the National Tourism Development Plan, the DOT is committed to strengthening this sector through programs that empower local communities and promote sustainable agricultural practices,” she added.

With the theme “Innovations in Farm Tourism: Cultivating Growth and Sustainability,” the conference spotlighted success stories from across the country, including bio-diversified farming initiatives that have revitalized rural communities, such as General Santos City's grapes farming as an emerging industry.

Secretary Frasco reaffirmed the DOT’s dedication to positioning farm tourism as a vital pillar of the country’s tourism strategy. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration among government agencies, local government units, and private stakeholders to ensure the sector’s sustainability and growth.

“By embracing our agricultural heritage and unlocking new opportunities in farm tourism, we cultivate a future where agriculture and tourism bring prosperity to our rural communities—while preserving these vital livelihoods for generations to come,” she remarked.

Passing the torch: General Santos City to Baguio City

One of the conference’s highlights was the turnover of hosting duties from General Santos City to Baguio City for the next PIFTC installment.

Secretary Frasco, alongside ISST Chairperson and former DOT Secretary Mina Gabor and General Santos Councilor Virgie Tiongson Llido, presided over the ceremonial handover of hosting duties, underscoring the importance of continuity in the promotion of sustainable farm tourism across the Philippines.
