Samsung harnesses AI-powered health for Filipinos with the Galaxy Watch Marathon It’s happening in Manila on October 6 and in Cebu on November 24

Samsung Philippines is thrilled to help Filipinos break through their fitness limits as the official title sponsor of two of the country’s premier running events: the Galaxy Watch Manila Marathon and the Galaxy Watch Cebu Half-Marathon. This is the second time that Samsung and Runrio have banded together to nurture the growing running culture in the country, with the AI-powered Galaxy Watch as the fitting wellness partner of runners nationwide.

Organized by RUNRIO and in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Galaxy Watch Manila Marathon is happening on October 6 at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, featuring a route that takes racers through iconic landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods to celebrate the metro’s rich heritage and dynamic spirit.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch Cebu Half-Marathon on November 24 will start and end at the City di Mare by Filinvest and allow participants to appreciate the scenic seascape of Cebu as they pass through the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, the country’s longest and tallest bridge.

To help runners learn the fundamentals of competitive running and train for the races, Samsung has also launched the Galaxy Watch Run Club, uniting aspiring racers with a kickoff event in Makati City. The six-session program aims to boost performance and camaraderie through training and fitness challenges, with their performances advanced metrics from the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch7.

These devices have an advanced Dual Frequency GPS system that lets users map out routes and track real-time positioning, as well as functions that help track performance, like the Watch Ultra’s Multi-sports Tile which tracks multi-course workouts for a triathlon - from swimming to cycling to running. Also, the Galaxy Watch7 is tailored for everyday wellness with over 100 workout tracking options and personalized fitness plans through its Workout Routine feature.

Members of the Galaxy Run Club also get exclusive discounts on these devices, further enriching their training experience. The club is also expanding to Cebu - runners that complete three sessions earn 20% off their marathon registration, while those completing five sessions unlock exclusive merchandise or a free slot in the Manila or Cebu runs.

Delivering Better Wellness on your Wrist with Galaxy AI

The Galaxy Watch Ultra is the ultimate fitness companion, featuring a Titanium Grade 4 frame and 10ATM water resistance, ideal for extreme conditions, while its Dynamic Lug System enhances comfort for activities from deep-sea swimming to high-altitude cycling.

Additionally, new Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cycling measures maximum cycling power in 4 minutes using AI-powered metrics tailored to you, while the Quick Button allows instant workout starts, function customization, or activating an Emergency Siren. It also boasts the longest battery life in the Galaxy Watch series, lasting up to 100 hours in Power Saving and 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving mode.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch7 also delivers comprehensive health insights, including advanced sleep analysis and the FDA-authorized Sleep Apnea feature. Real-time heart rate monitoring, ECG, and Blood Pressure (BP) tracking are all included, providing users with a deeper understanding of their health.

These advanced, in-depth monitoring and tailored insights are made possible thanks to a BioActive Sensor that offers increased accuracy and comprehensive readings. For the first time, Galaxy Watch7 even allows users to conveniently track advanced glycation end products (AGEs) with an AGEs Index. Strongly influenced by diet and lifestyle, AGEs reflect your overall biological aging process and provide an indication of metabolic health.

"Samsung aims to inspire users to improve their lifestyle with Galaxy AI being in our mobile and ecosystem devices, providing Filipinos with personalized insights to enhance their wellness routines," said Samsung Electronics Philippines Head of Mobile Experience Blue Avelino. "We're also excited to foster fitness communities, as seen in our Run Club launch and participation in the Manila Marathon and Cebu Half-Marathon, reflecting our commitment to the running community."

Santé Barley Takes the Lead in Boosting Running and Wellness in the Philippines

One of a kind running series in the Philippines partners with Santé Barley to promote running as a way to live more, do more

From L-R: Andrea Intalan- General Manager Sante Fitness Lab, Joey Marcelo CEO, Sante, Jonah Rivera and Christian Marcelo- Santé Barley Triteam, Pauline Bulatao - Corporate Communications, Santé

In an exciting move to promote healthier living among Filipinos, Santé Barley, the barley authority in the Philippines, proudly announces its role as a co-presenter and the Official Nutrition Partner of HOKA Trilogy Run Asia 2024.

Since its inception in 2010, HOKA Trilogy Run Asia formerly known as RUNRIO Trilogy, has fueled the nation's passion for running, cultivating an active lifestyle, and nurturing a vibrant community of athletes and enthusiasts alike. Now that more Filipinos are embracing the sport and the running scene has matured, Santé Barley recognizes the significance of this partnership, marking a pivotal moment for the brand as it expands its reach and advocates for an active and healthy lifestyle.

The increase in the number of participants was evident during the opening race on April 8, with 8,000 runners taking part. Subsequently, more people have been registering, and organizers anticipate a turnout of at least 64,000 participants for this year’s HOKA Trilogy Run Asia.

Santé CEO Joey Marcelo expressed his enthusiasm, noting that this partnership represents a significant opportunity to promote healthier lifestyles among Filipinos.

“We are thrilled to partner with HOKA Trilogy Run Asia, not only to expand Santé Barley’s reach but, more importantly, to promote health and fitness across the Philippines. Marcelo also shared that within the Santé community, more employees and business owners are joining the races, making running a viable, affordable, and accessible choice to stay active.

“The beauty of running is that you can do it whenever and wherever you want. Whether you run solo, with groups, or even if you don’t join races like this and just set your own PRs (personal records), you can still enjoy the sport. So, I am really glad that we get to share this positive outlook on running within the Santé community and, of course, with the general public,” Marcelo added.

The partnership aligns perfectly with HOKA Trilogy Run Asia's mission of promoting inclusivity and encouraging Filipinos to confidently adopt a healthier lifestyle. With a growing number of participants in their races, HOKA Trilogy Run Asia is expanding its reach to locations across the Philippines. Santé Barley’s support will further fuel this enthusiasm, fostering a positive, health-conscious community through running.

Last Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Mizuno Store in Bonifacio High Street, both shoes were launched together with the Mizuno’s Squad Run: Road to 42km.

The launch was with Mizuno sponsored running coaches, Ige Lopez, Pat Joson and Nhea Barcena with some of their students and together with bloggers and writers attended the said event.

Brand introduction was led by Karla Bello, the Business Unit Senior Manager and Marketing head for Master Sports - Mizuno while the product presentation was done by Xavier Medina, who is also the Business Unit Senior Manager and Product Specialist.

Coach Ige Lopez also, shared with the attendees his experience and love for the featured products and lastly, the Squad Run: Road to 42km was discussed by Madeleine Castillo, the Marketing Communications Officer. All attendees got to bring home their own pair of Wave Catalyst 2 and Wave Shadow.

The Wave Catalyst 2 and the Wave Shadow come hand in hand when it comes to performance, one is for support and the other is for neutral, respectively. The Wave Catalyst 2 comes in two colors for men, one color is blue and its updated color way is red while the Wave Shadow only comes in blue.

Performance shoes are built with lower profile midsole dimensions for a more responsive performance ride. The Wave Catalyst 2 is a responsive performance support trainer that aims to keep up with runners who do fast training on a daily basis. It has been redesigned and reborn as a true performance shoe. It has a lowered offset at 10mm, yet the sole design remains the same as its predecessor, with the U4ic midsole material that offers more bounce and durability.

The upper area as compared to the previous Catalyst has been made into a light weight and highly breathable engineered mesh with the Run Bird logo arch support and soft PU printed overlays straight from the Bio-mimicry concept, which are strategically placed to form the shoe around the arch and heel. It also has a softer collar that lets the ankle area feel more free.

The Wave Shadow is a new model by Mizuno. It is a new revolutionary everyday fast, go to shoe. It is lightweight, highly responsive, and cushioned enough to keep the runner going fast. The Wave Shadow just like the Wave Catalyst 2 are performance trainers but is made for neutral foot types.

The sole offers a perfect blend of speed and comfort, the 8mm heel drop will give the user that “low-to- ground” feel of a racing shoe while the cushioned supportive midsole provides a running shoe like comfort. The latest updates will not let you down on a fast run. As for its upper, the pursuit of perfection and simplicity has taken the upper fit comfort to new heights. It has an internal toe cap with a one-piece mesh upper construction that provides a seamless fit.

It is a full-scale wellness program where members get rewarded for making healthy choices. Through Philam Vitality, we are taking active steps to positively transform the lives of Filipinos by helping them live longer, healthier, and better lives,” Cajucom added.

“The reason for its massive success is its winning formula that combines music with the ever- growing fitness craze into the ultimate running and music festival that also puts control of the run’s soundtrack in the hands of our Music RunnersTM,” he added.

The five-kilometer run will include five music-themed zones playing rock, pop, old school, hip hop, and dance. Using the live Spotify Music Voting App on www.themusicrun.com.ph, participants can vote up to five songs per playlist every day to build the official soundtrack for each zone.
