PLDT Enterprise Boosts Transport & Logistics with Smarter, Stronger Connectivity Solutions
PLDT Enterprise is accelerating digital progress in the country’s transport and logistics sectors by delivering stronger, smarter wireless connectivity through Wireless Indoor Coverage.
Given the Philippines’ archipelagic geography
and rugged terrain, many areas stand to benefit more from wireless connectivity
solutions than from traditional wired infrastructure, making solutions like
Wireless Indoor Coverage especially relevant in supporting the evolving needs
of these industries.
“Reliable wireless coverage plays a critical
role in enhancing communication across transport and logistics operations, from
real-time SMS updates to clear voice calls and seamless data access. Whether
inside warehouses, distribution hubs, or transit terminals, strong connectivity
ensures accurate coordination, minimizes failed deliveries, and keeps customers
informed every step of the way. This ultimately drives greater operational
efficiency and boosts consumer satisfaction,” said John Gonzales, First Vice
President and Head of Enterprise Consulting Services and Technology Management
at PLDT Enterprise.
A Commitment to Transport and Logistics
Innovation
PLDT Enterprise’s Wireless Indoor Coverage is
about enabling transformation. By integrating wireless connectivity within
vehicles and transit hubs, the solution supports the industry through:
- Reliable connectivity on the move, enabling uninterrupted access to safety
systems and communications as vehicles travel through different
environments
- Consistent, mobile-ready coverage that supports real-time safety features
and critical system updates wherever the journey leads
- Remote network management for vehicle fleets, ensuring timely
security and configuration updates
- Extended coverage into previously underserved zones, enabling consistent wireless
connectivity in enclosed spaces such as bus depots, terminals, and
vehicles where signal traditionally weakens
With wired internet still a challenge in some
areas of the country, wireless broadband, particularly 5G, emerges as a
powerful alternative in the meantime, offering faster speeds, lower latency,
and wider reach to connect underserved areas and enable next-generation
technologies.
Given this, Wireless Indoor Coverage helps solve
long-standing industry challenges in transport operations—such as ensuring
timely SMS alerts (including OTPs), enabling reliable voice calls during
emergencies, and maintaining strong mobile data signals for seamless access to
navigation apps, dispatch systems, and cloud-based tools.
All these innovations and their respective
benefits align with the broader nationwide effort to overcome digital barriers
in infrastructure, as highlighted in recent reports on wireless broadband
advancements in the Philippines.
Enabling Safety, Efficiency, and Growth for Long
Routes and Regional Mobility
PLDT Enterprise’s wireless solutions are
designed to keep fleets connected even as they traverse remote areas and
regional boundaries. Whether managing cargo transfers between provinces or
maintaining communication on extended delivery routes, the solution supports
stable, secure wireless access that scales with the mobility needs of the
country.
This expanded reach reinforces PLDT Enterprise’s
commitment to being the trusted network partner for nationwide transport
transformation.
Moreover, by offering transport operators the
ability to manage their wireless networks remotely via cloud platforms, the
solution not only enhances operational continuity but also boosts cybersecurity
and resiliency—key pillars in today’s security-sensitive landscape.
Driving Collaboration for Future Innovations
PLDT Enterprise envisions this initiative as a
call to action for transportation companies, logistics operators, and public
sector stakeholders to come together and reimagine how businesses move.
“We invite industry players to collaborate with
us in crafting wireless solutions that are tailor-fit for their specific
environments and use cases. Connectivity should move with you—and with PLDT
Enterprise,” Gonzales added.

The Communications Olympiad Announces Top 15 Schools Heading to The Grand Championship
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, the country chapter of the world’s leading network of communication professionals, in partnership with COMCO School of Communications, the communication training and professional development arm of global award-winning communications group COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises proudly announces the Top 15 schools advancing to The Grand Championship of The Communications Olympiad.
The Communications Olympiad is a premier communications training and competition program for collegiate students designed to empower the next generation of communicators by providing transformative knowledge and practical, real-world applications. Through a rigorous and immersive learning journey, participants sharpened their skills as emerging communications professionals.
The top 15 teams advancing to the Grand Championship, in alphabetical order, are Ateneo de Manila University, Baliuag University, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, De La Salle University – Manila, Far Eastern University, Laguna University, Mapúa University – Makati, Mindoro State University, National University – Dasmariñas, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Tarlac State University, University of Antique, University of the Cordilleras, University of the Philippines – Visayas, University of Saint Anthony – Iriga City, Camarines Sur.
Before the competition, the qualifying teams underwent an intense training camp series with sessions on Best Practices in Communications, The Role of Communications in Environment Conservation, and Innovations in Communications. The Best Practices in Communications kicked off with insights on fundamentals, breaking down the Elements of Strategic Communications Plan, Writing 101 for Business Communications, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Communication. This was followed by the session on The Role of Communications in Environment Conservation which opened a portal to communicating change with topics including Climate Change and Environmental Concerns, Sustainability Practices Among Businesses, and Environmental Communication and Education.
The Training Camp closed strong for Days 3 and 4 which dove into Innovations in Communications on Digital and Social Media, Responsible Use of AI, the IABC Rubrics, and Introduction to New PR and Smart Social, equipping the students for a more advanced and professional practice to aid them in the Olympiad-level competition.
After completing the training, teams were given just over 24 hours to develop a 10-slide communications plan based on a brief from One Meralco Foundation about their “Energy for Development” programs. The brief provided the teams with an opportunity to learn more about rural development and community empowerment through renewable electrification projects with the Olympians tasked to create an integrated communications plan that is impact driven, and clearly relays the call for action.
They then presented their proposals virtually, which were reviewed by a distinguished panel of communications industry leaders. This intensive challenge tested their creativity, strategic thinking, and presentation skills, ultimately determining the Top 15 teams advancing to the grand finals.
The Grand Championship
The Communications Olympiad is set to conclude through the on-ground Grand Championship happening on June 27, 2025, at the Meralco Center in Pasig City, where the Top 15 will vie for the category medals, highlighting their mastery of the different fields in communication. In the final run, only the Top 3 teams that garnered the most medals will grace the center stage for one last shot to be called the first-ever Grand Champion of The Communications Olympiad.
The Communications Olympiad is organized by IABC Philippines and the COMCO School of Communications, together with COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises and One Meralco Foundation as platinum sponsors; Globe Telecom Inc., Goodness Graze, Midea, Monde Nissin, and TP in the Philippines as gold sponors; Jollibee Foods Corp. and Personal Collection Direct Selling Inc. as silver sponsors; and Sony Philippines, Sustainability PH, and Uratex Monobloc as bronze sponsors. One Year and Counting: Lionsgate Play & PLDT Home Celebrate a Successful Partnership in the Philippines
June 2022, wasn't the easiest time to launch a VOD service. It was right after the pandemic, and many Filipinos had already gotten accustomed to other VOD services. Yet LGP stepped up to the challenge, differentiating itself quickly from the competition with its edgy, irreverent, and high-octane titles.
#PlayMoreBrowseLess
Though
Lionsgate Studios owns a vast library of over 17,000 titles, they don't
overwhelm the audience with an excessive amount of releases. Instead, LGP
curates a selection of content to captivate the audience, enabling their
audience to #PlayMoreBrowseLess. To do so, LGP draws on the most exciting
current releases with exclusive rights to premiere TV shows from LGP’s US
parent network STARZ, as well as smash hits from the premium Lionsgate library.
From time to time, LGP also secures Academy Award®-winning films from other
studios.
“Since
the grand launch of the partnership in June 2022, PLDT Home's collaboration
with Lionsgate Play has introduced a fresh wave of entertainment to its valued
Filipino customers,” says Evert Miranda, PLDT Home Vice President and Digital
Services Head of Product & Marketing (Beyond Access). “The partnership
allowed customers to immerse themselves in a world of unlimited entertainment
courtesy of Lionsgate Play’s wide array of international and award-winning
content.”
Over
the past year, the LGP audience gravitated towards LGP's box-office titles,
which include franchises like John Wick,
Hunger Games, Twilight, and Saw. Bruce
Willis' new, never-before-seen movies like APEX
and Corrective Measures were
popular watches, as were unique, intriguing series like Spartacus, Power, Gaslit and The Serpent Queen.
LGP
subscribers can continue to look forward to exclusive titles like the
high-adrenaline, action-packed series like Heels,
Gangs of London, Kandahar, and Gray;
and new Lionsgate films like One Ranger and
Fear the Night. LGP will also be exclusively live-streaming
The Emmy Awards for the second year in a row, with seven of its titles
receiving nominations.
The secret to LGP's success
LGP's
partnership with PLDT was key to their success. PLDT took the bold step to give
their subscribers 12 months of access to LGP. And because PLDT is lauded for
being the country's fastest fixed internet by Ookla, PLDT subscribers were able
to enjoy LGP titles with fast, reliable internet.
"We
have been the torchbearers in understanding that partnerships are essential in
this market to grow subscribers," says Amit Dhanuka, LGP Executive Vice
President. "The growth is skewed towards the partnerships because they
open up a larger funnel than what we would be able to get ourselves. These
partnerships took time to evolve. So, we had a lot of customers come onto the
platform earlier and they have stayed. Now, the partnerships are driving
subscriber growth."
"As
we celebrate the anniversary of this successful partnership, we eagerly
anticipate Lionsgate Play's commitment to enriching the platform with an
expanded selection of content," adds Miranda. "With the introduction
of paid subscriptions, we hope to witness the arrival of highly anticipated
releases such as John Wick 4 and other upcoming masterpieces from Lionsgate and
Starz. Our ultimate goal is to provide Filipino homes with the best of the best
in entertainment.”
