Everyone’s in Danger: Humans, Monsters and Neohumans Face Off in Sweet Home Season 3 Trailer

“From the very beginning, I was you. I was always a part of you,” the monster within Hyun-su (Song Kang) eerily declares in the tension-filled trailer for Sweet Home Season 3 released today. Fans are left wondering which version of Hyun-su will prevail, and to what end.

In the third and final season of the iconic Korean monsterization saga, humans, monsters and neohumans prepare for the ultimate showdown. The main poster captures the clash between Hyun-su and Sang-wook (Lee Jin-uk) amid a wrecked stadium engulfed in flames. Once allies, their paths diverged in the second season and now lead to a final face-off.

The trailer shows a glimpse of intense action between Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok (Lee Do-hyun) immediately after they are reunited. Yi-kyung (Lee Si-young) opens her eyes again after being consumed by a monster, while Eun-yu (Ko Min-si) and Chan-young (Jinyoung) desperately fight for survival. Meanwhile, Tak In-hwan (Yoo Oh-seong), Dr. Lim (Oh Jung-se), Kim Yeong-hu (Kim Moo-yeol), and Kid (Kim Sia) continue their individual journeys, each facing new battles.

Director Lee Eung-bok comments, “There is a variety of characters, so I hope viewers will root for their favorite ones as they all fight in their own ways, from the battle between Sang-wook — who has turned evil — and Hyun-su, who longs to preserve his humanity; Yi-kyung, who fights to protect Kid; and Sergeant Tak, who feels responsible for the survivors’ safety.”

Netflix’s first-ever Station ID features an ensemble of Filipino stars for See What’s Next: Philippines 2023

 It’s giving early Christmas!

Christmas comes early as Netflix kicks off the holiday season by unveiling a See What’s Next: Philippines 2023 lineup of local titles featured in the first-ever Netflix Station ID. The stars of three new Filipino titles coming soon on Netflix—Can’t Buy Me Love (Belle Mariano, Donny Pangilinan), Keys to the Heart (Zanjoe Marudo, Elijah Canlas), and Replacing Chef Chico (Piolo Pascual, Alessandra de Rossi, Sam Milby)—went Christmas caroling at Barangay Netflix together with the country’s sought-after celebrities who starred in recent hits Missed Connections (Miles Ocampo, Kelvin Miranda, Chie Filomeno), and What If (JM de Guzman), two local films that reached the Number 1 spot on Netflix’s top list after their launch on the service. The stars of Seasons (Lovi Poe, Carlo Aquino), another top film that debuted on Netflix, also sent their holiday greetings.

The video is full of Christmas spirit—and Easter eggs for all the Pinoy Netflix titles! Can you spot all six of them?

  • There’s season’s greetings from Seasons’ Kurt and Charlie (Lovi Poe and Carlo Aquino) on a neighbor’s gate.

  • Sneak a peek at Keys to the Heart’s Dolly de Leon on a vinyl cover.

  • Keys to the Heart’s vinyl record spins as the carolers sing.

  • Sing along to Can’t Buy Me Love flashing on a karaoke machine.

  • A Bingo shaker, a nod to one of Can’t Buy Me Love’s main characters, doubles as an instrument.

  • Peep the Replacing Chef Chico crates as our stars gather for a feast.

Netflix is home to a diverse offering of the best Filipino stories and talents. At the See What’s Next: Philippines 2023 launch, top local directors expressed how excited they were for their titles to be part of this year’s local lineup and why they’re perfect for the Pinoy Christmas.

“Christmas is about family, familial love, friends and it’s during [this] season when we try to evaluate the life that we had the past year, the milestones, failures, disappointment. Just like in our film, What If. What if iba nangyari sa buhay natin in the past year? What if kinuha ko ito or what if ’di ko ginawa ito? So I think it’s also not just a love story, it also helps us reflect kung ano nangyari sa buhay natin,” said Manny Palo, director of What If.

Keys to the Heart director Kerwin Go shared that his upcoming film is a must-watch this holiday season because “Keys to the Heart is a family dramedy. It’s a celebration of family, unconventional families, meaning blended families. It could be a family that you adopt and friends who become family and neighbors who actually become just as important.”

Replacing Chef Chico is about Ella, the sous chef who takes over Hain’s kitchen. I think it’s perfect for the Christmas season because on the top level it’s about love, friendship, and acceptance,” said director Dan Villegas.

Replacing Chef Chico showrunner Antoinette Jadaone added, “For Christmas, perfect panoorin with your family, friends, and loved ones yung Replacing Chef Chico because, in every episode, there is a story of family, friendship and/or love, which is celebrated over food. It’s about time that Filipino food gets its proper spotlight. With this series, it’s a Filipino-produced original Netflix series, it’s a celebration of not just family, friends, or love but tayong mga Pinoy will be celebrating the Filipino food that we eat each day. When other countries watch the series, mafi-feel din nila iyon.”

This holiday season, See What’s Next: Philippines 2023’s lineup showcases best-in-class local content available and coming soon on Netflix. These films and series are the perfect watchlist to celebrate a Pinoy Christmas with family and friends.

In PIE's hybrid narrative-reality show “The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan” - Viewers have the power to control the story

Melai, Jhong, Kaila, former “PBB” housemates star in Pie's hybrid narrative-reality show

PIE (Pinoy Interactive Entertainment) Channel continues to beef up its offerings for its fourth month on air as it launches an engaging hybrid narrative-reality show this September 24, 8 pm, with Melai Cantiveros as the host and one of the actors.

In “The Chosen One: Ang Piliserye ng Bayan,” PIE viewers can control the story and determine which character stays alive until the end by voting.

According to award-winning director and cinematographer Topel Lee, “The Chosen One” has a ‘choose your own adventure’ style that’s why it is called a ‘piliserye.’

“You [viewers] get to play god sa ‘piliserye.’ Ikaw ang magde-decide kung saan pupunta ang kwento. Fresh ito for this type of programming sa PIE Channel,” he shared.

Each week, five lucky Philippine-based voters will be selected via randomizer to win P1,000.

The show’s pilot features a suspense thriller series called “Soap Opera” that follows Charlie (Kaila Estrada), who signs up for a shady networking group called Astra Nuevo fronted by the strong-willed Miss Jane (Melai). In Astra Nuevo, Charlie meets a group of 10 aspiring entrepreneurs from different walks of life who share her dream of gaining financial freedom. But soon they discover that their ambition could cost them their lives.

Joining Kaila in the hybrid narrative-reality series are former “PBB” housemates Andi Abaya (Rachel), Amanda Zamora (Julie), Dustin Mayores (Jason), Gabb Skribikin (Cheska), Kobie Brown (Peter), Luke Alford (Kiko), Maxine Trinidad (Emma), Rob Blackburn (Joe), Seham Daghlas (Paula), and Zach Guerrero (Mike) who will act as players in the show or the characters that will be voted by viewers.
In “Soap Opera,” Kaila is a non-player. She won’t be part of the 10 characters that are up for voting each week. Other non-players in the series are “PBB” Otso housemate Emjay Savilla and film and theater actress and host Sunshine Teodoro.

Every Saturday (8 to 10 pm), “The Chosen One” will air live episodes of “Soap Opera” so ‘chosen mentor’ Jhong Hilario can dissect and rate each players’ performance in the narrative. It will also reveal the current standing of the players based on the audience votes.

During the first episode of “Soap Opera” last Saturday (September 24), Charlie met the 10 aspiring entrepreneurs during the orientation day of Astra Nuevo that was led by Miss Jane. Charlie also found the lifeless body of Astra Nuevo’s security guard who was mysteriously killed at the office.

The Saturday episode (October 1) will be more exciting as “The Chosen One” reveals who among the 10 players garnered the highest number of ligtas votes and who are in the bottom two.

During the show’s primer, Melai shared that viewers will get to see a different side of her in “The Chosen One.”
“First time ko na ganitong storya. Kasi ako naman nagho-horror, pero may sundot na comedy. Dito parang may pagka-serious talaga,” she said.
She also lauded Jhong during the mediacon saying,
sobrang honored ako na kasama ko si Kuys Jhong. Talagang magkakaroon kami ng tawanan and banters. Sobrang happy din ako kasi yan ang sample king.”
Meanwhile, Jhong said during the show’s primer that he is grateful to be picked as the ‘chosen mentor’ and shared what he expects to see from the players.

“Siyempre dahil suspense thriller itong piliserye natin, gusto kong matakot sa acting nila. Gusto kong tumayo ‘yung mga balahibo ko dahil alam ko kapag natakot ako, ‘yung mga manonood sa kanila, matatakot din,” Jhong remarked.

On the other hand, Kaila sees “The Chosen One” as a challenge since it is her first thriller series. “Challenge ito because first time ko gumawa ng show na thriller ‘yung theme. I keep in my mind na I want to give it the best performance that I can give, something that even I would want to watch,” she explained.

Besides “The Chosen One,” PIE also offers viewers new shows and PIE jocks for more excitement. They are Gretchen Fullido, Abby Trinidad, Frances Cabatuando, Mayor TV, Tristan Ramirez (Mon to Sat) Madam Inutz, Migs Bustos, and Nicole Cordovez (Sun) for BRGY PIESILOG; Janine Berdin and Raco Ruiz for PIEBORITO (Mon to Sun); Anji Salvacion, Eris Aragoza, Ralph Malibunas, Sam Bernardo (Mon to Sat), Gello Marquez, Jeremy G, Reign Parani, and Vivoree (Sun) for PIEGALINGAN; Eian Rances, Negi, Sela Guia, Kevin Montillano, Nicki Morena, Ruth Paga, Nonong Ballinan (Mon to Sat) Inah Evans, Kid Yambao, Patsy Reyes, and Jackie Gonzaga (Sundays) for PIENALO; and finally, Aaron Maniego, Karen Bordador, Renee Dominique (Mon to Fri), Elmo Magalona, and Vivoree (Sun) for PIE Night Long.
