Solane offers safe and quality Solane Sakto LPG for budget-conscious consumers

Solane unveiled its Solane Sakto tank holding 1.4kg of LPG during the Saktong Salu-salo event

Solane Marketing Manager Kathy Mendez Cabisada and Solane Product Manager Gilbert Roque join Suzi and Chef Marky in exploring the new Solane Sakto LPG.

Solane has been a trusted companion of Filipino households when it comes to cooking for over 50 years, may it be simple #LutongSolane meals at home or grand and festive celebrations and get-togethers. This Christmas, Solane wants to make sure that more Filipinos enjoy their meals and celebrations without breaking the bank, even if they want to enjoy festive meals outside the house.

Solane is unveiling Solane Sakto, its mini-LPG tank holding 1.4 kilograms of kitchen fuel, perfect for budget-conscious households, students, small families, and small businesses. For the more adventurous types, Solane Sakto is also a great addition to cooking equipment to bring – no more canned food for camping!

It’s the same safe, sustainable, and quality kitchen fuel Filipinos have known, but in a sakto size!

“We have long cultivated Filipinos’ passion for cooking and celebration by providing safe and quality kitchen fuel over the decades through Solane LPG,” said Jose Antonio Gonzalez, CEO of Isla LPG, the company behind Solane. “Through the ‘tingi’ version of our trusted Solane LPG, we want more Filipinos to have access to affordable and quality kitchen fuel without compromising safety.”

To show how Solane Sakto is the perfect companion for celebrating food outside the house, Solane hosted the ‘Saktong Salu-salo with Solane’ event. Guests were treated to mouthwatering dishes while enjoying an energetic chitchat with cooking enthusiast and proud long-time Solane user Suzi Entrata-Abrera.

Chef Mark Joseph Bartolome, known as Chef Marky on Tiktok, demonstrated how to cook simple yet filling chicken fajitas, showing how the Solane Sakto is easy to install on existing LPG or canister-fed cooking stoves.
Chef Marky unveils the content of the mystery box he received from Solane

Guests also sampled best-selling dishes from some of the trendiest small businesses in the metro: Kahatea, Airballs 320, and Hungry Homies.

Local food businesses had the chance to showcase their most raved dishes.

Guests took turns guessing the weight of Solane Sakto’s LPG content.

Swak Benefits in a Sakto Size

Solane Sakto’s saktong laki and saktong gaan makes it perfect for limited spaces and kitchens, such as condominium units, student dormitories and compact apartments.

Designed with a collar handle for better grip, Solane Sakto is also portable enough to take anywhere, and can be used outdoors, perfect for out-of-town vacations, picnics, and camping.

Priced at PHP 150 per refill, Solane Sakto is affordable and is a safer alternative than charcoal fuel wood and other dangerous fuel sources such as LPG-refilled butane canisters. It is the only small LPG SKU that is safe and compliant with the Department of Energy for indoor use.

One Solane Sakto tank can last up to a week of cooking for the typical family of five. During unforeseen situations or emergencies, it can be used as a backup LPG tank, lasting up to 3-4 days for heavy cooking.

Like Solane 11 kilogram AS and POL tanks, authentic Solane Sakto cylinders also carry the important markings that certify their registration, the specific standards used, the date the cylinder was tested, as well as the tare weight in kilograms which is around 4.1 kg. Genuine Solane Sakto LPG tanks also come with a white biodegradable seal.

To order Verified Solane LPG, customers may call the Solane Hatid Bahay Hotline +63 2 8887 5555 (Metro Manila) or place their orders through the Solane mobile app or through the Web Ordering Platform. Faulty wiring, kitchen fires, illegal LPG: 2022 fire incidents call for stronger fire prevention measures this month

Solane LPG urges the public to be vigilant and alert about keeping their loved ones safe and protected in their homes

A recent report by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) caused alarm among the general public – fire incidents jumped by almost 13% compared to the same period last year, mostly caused by faulty electrical wiring. As March brings in the annual Fire Prevention Awareness campaign spearheaded by the BFP, the private sector amplifies government efforts by eliminating causes of tragic accidents from the source.

Solane LPG, the country’s leading LPG brand, has led 9 raids so far in different areas of the country from the beginning of the year to fight against dangerous, substandard, and illegal LPGs that may cause fires and explosions in unsuspecting households.

To date, 124 counterfeit Solane tanks, along with marked money, transaction receipts, fake plastic seals and other items, have been confiscated in Metro Manila, Camarines Norte, Cagayan, Sorsogon and Quirino.

BFP constantly reminds consumers to buy authentic LPG tanks from authorized dealers to prevent explosions and fire-related incidents. While this may be tricky for some, Solane has made it easy for the public to be sure that their purchase is verified Solane with three simple markers: the weight, the markings and the valve of its tanks.

Authentic filled LPG tanks’ weight corresponds to the total of its indicated tare weight and LPG content. To ensure such, Solane performs the ‘Timbang Challenge.’ Solane also ensures quality markings on its tanks, including the registered brand name and trademark of manufacturer, standard used and test dates, serial or code number, ‘Made in the Philippines’ mark, tare weight and LPG content, and expiry date. Lastly, genuine Solane LPG tanks come with a safety cap and seal with a serial number for verification

Since January of this year, there have already been numerous LPG-related fire incidents reported in different parts of the country, from Metro Manila and surrounding cities to provincial areas of Cebu and Bacolod. Whether commercial or residential space, life and property will always be at risk if products used are not properly checked or difficult to use.

“At Solane, fire prevention is a quality we uphold every single day, not just in March,” emphasized Valeri Villano, Marketing Manager. “There’s a lot of work that go into our tanks and into our products because we value the trust that customers place in our brand. They welcome us into their homes, and they are sure that we keep their homes, their businesses, and everyone safe at all times.

“The danger happens when customers choose the wrong product.”

Moreover, Solane’s AS valve (de salpak) so has a snap-on auto-shutoff feature that brings human error down to a minimum.

“With everything that our customers have to deal with on a daily basis, we’ve made sure that our Solane tanks are always safe to use so it doesn’t have to add to the stress they experience everyday,” said Villano. “So much has changed in the past two years, including who goes into the kitchen and how often people use the kitchen. It’s our job to make sure that Solane remains easy to use any time of the day.”

4 must-try Noche Buena classic dishes with a twist

Glazed Christmas ham

Food has always been a big part of every celebration. As Filipinos are known for having the grandest Christmas celebration in the world, there will surely be tables filled with unique and festive dishes to match the season’s merriments. Now, to help you get into the Holiday spirit, Solane, the leading LPG brand in the country, shares how to put appetizing and creative twists on some classic Filipino Christmas dishes to level up your Noche Buena.

Glazed Christmas Ham. A Christmas ham certainly completes a Noche Buena table. But instead of just taking it out of the box and putting it on a plate, make it more flavorful and enjoyable. First, place your ham on a roasting pan lined with foil then score it vertically. In a saucepan over low heat, make your glaze by melting a stick of unsalted butter then mixing in one cup of brown sugar, half a cup of orange juice, half a cup of honey, and two tablespoons of Dijon mustard. Once the sugar has dissolved and the glaze has thickened, pour half of it over your scored ham. Put the ham in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes per pound. Make sure to baste the ham with your remaining glaze halfway through.

Crispy Lechon Roll. Lechon is another Holiday favorite among Filipinos. First, get a slab of pork belly and lay it flat on a surface. Rub it with salt and pepper and let it rest for 15 to 30 minutes. Next, arrange a pile of lemongrass, scallions, garlic, and red onions on top of the pork belly, and then roll it until it forms a spiral shape. Use kitchen twine to tie the meat and brush the outside with annatto oil. Place it on a roasting pan with a rack, then put it in a preheated oven at 350°F for two hours or until the meat is tender and the skin is crispy.

Extra Meaty Spaghetti. No matter what the occasion, Filipino-style spaghetti will always be present! So take it to the next level by adding a surprise ingredient – longganisa! In a pan, start by sautéing minced garlic and onions before adding the ground beef. You can also add finely diced carrots to up the health factor. Once the beef has turned brown, mix in your longganisa and hotdogs. Then, add salt and pepper to taste. Pour in the Filipino-style spaghetti sauce of your choice then let it simmer. Now, pour it over your cooked pasta noodles, grate some cheese, and enjoy!

Decadent Queso de Bola Cheesecake. After a hearty meal, your guests will surely crave for dessert. So why not make another Christmas staple with a fun twist -- queso de bola cheesecake? In a bowl, start by mixing one cup of crushed graham crackers, sugar, and a quarter cup of melted butter. Once combined, press it down to the bottom of a springform pan then chill. For the cheesecake filling, mix three packs of softened cream cheese and sugar before adding your special ingredient – a cup and a half of finely grated queso de bola. Next, beat in three eggs then pour over the chilled graham crust. Simply bake it for around 40 minutes or until the filling has set. You may also serve it with mangoes or blueberries for added sweetness.

If you want to prepare all those dishes and more, Solane can help you have a stress-free experience in the kitchen with its quality and safe LPG that you can now order online. For more information, visit www.solane.com.ph and https://www.facebook.com/solane.ph/.

Level up your kitchen duties for the Holiday

The pandemic may have canceled a lot of celebrations this 2020, but Christmas isn’t going to be one of them!

Holiday prep is going to be a lot different this year, but you can keep family traditions alive and just as bright with some extra preparation. And since dining out may not be the best way to go, there’s a new battleground this season - the kitchen.

With the COVID-19 anxieties adding to the expected mayhem of the holiday rush, here are three easy must-dos to effectively manage and ensure a safer kitchen for the holidays.

1. Think ahead and pre-order if possible

If you’re getting tired of waiting in line because of limited capacities in the supermarket, imagine what this would be like come Christmas time. With a still uncertain turnout of the pandemic, the limited mobility would most likely extend until the holidays.

Impromptu supermarket runs will be more difficult, and online groceries don’t have huge inventories of items so things will likely go out-of-stock. Perhaps it’s high time to plan your menu for Noche Buena, the ingredients to purchase, and their shelf lives for storage. This will not just help you avoid inconveniences in the future, but also gives you more time to prepare for other stuff on the holidays. A lot of specialty stores have already opened slots for Holiday pre-orders, too, so if you’re eyeing that lechon for your Christmas feast, make sure you get your name on that list!

2. Step up the cleaning game

Since you’ll be handling food meant for everyone, the kitchen should be the cleanest part of the house. You’ll be touching everything from kitchenware, to wet ingredients, to family members, and back. With the worries of possible virus transmission, you’ll need to level up the sanitation in your kitchen.

When it comes to cleanliness, more is more: more napkins to control moisture that may attract food contaminants; more sanitizers/ hand soaps in various corners of the house for people entering and exiting the kitchen; and disinfectants to clean surfaces where you will be cooking and serving your meals. It pays to upgrade cleaning practice to further ensure safety in your household!

3. Invest in smart, safe, and reliable kitchen equipment

Before you even get to the food, make sure you have the right equipment.

There is a lot of next-generation cookware for cutting, peeling, and cooking food that might help you work faster. Invest in them! These tools will help save a lot of time and energy for other important things like bonding with the family and buying presents for Christmas.

More importantly, invest in safer kitchen essentials like in the LPG you will use in cooking. It’s almost trivial to double-check the brands of your fuel source, but verifying your LPG is crucial in protecting the safety of your family and your properties. Choose only verified LPG brands like Solane to ensure that the fuel you’ll use is clean, safe, and adequate for any kind of celebration. Verified Solane tanks are thoroughly inspected from refilling to installation which also guarantees that your household will not be exposed to potential gas leaks that may lead to mishaps like fire
accidents, gas poisoning, and explosions.
Despite the many challenges of living through a pandemic, the holiday this year doesn’t have to be sadder, only safer! By doing these steps, you’re sure to not only make the most out of your holidays but also preserve the safety and well-being of you and your family amidst and beyond the celebrations.

Cooking like a pro

Learning how to cook is one of the most practical skills anyone can have. Cooking may be intimidating at first, especially if you are a beginner, but leading LPG solutions provider Solane believes that you can master it with consistent practice.

Chef Sau del Rosario, competition ambassador of Solane Kitchen Hero Chefs’ Edition

Chef Sau del Rosario, ambassador of Solane’s Kitchen Hero — a nationwide cooking competition which aims to recognize a new generation of local talented chefs — shares his secrets to acing your cooking skills in no time.

Read the recipe. Before you start cooking, be sure to read through the recipe. This will help you know which ingredients need to be chopped and prepped early on. Having everything prepared before cooking will speed up your cooking time and keep you from getting frazzled or confused.

Add creativity to your dishes. Being creative not only makes your food look appetizing but also makes the dining experience more exciting. For Chef Sau, this means being able to modernize your dish so it’s more relatable and appealing especially to young diners.

Good food comes from good ingredients. “If the fish that you used isn’t fresh, you won’t be able to come up with a great tasting finished product,” says Chef Sau. He believes that if you’re aiming for quality dishes, then you should never skimp on quality ingredients.

Use Filipino ingredients. The essence of Filipino food is using local ingredients. “We are rich in local resources and you should take advantage of whatever your region has to offer,” shares Chef Sau.

There should be a story behind your dish.  “Walang kwento, walang kwenta ang pagkain.” For Chef Sau, a dish becomes even more delicious it’s made with love, and when there’s a story or meaning behind it. Food can also be a source of comfort because it can evoke nostalgia or provide sentimental value to someone.

Learning how to cook might take a lot of trial and error. Be patient and don’t be afraid to experiment. Follow these tips and you are on the right track to becoming a skilled cook!

A mother’s holiday

Mother’s Day is a time for people to thank their moms for their never-ending sacrifices for the family. After all, they assume different roles round-the-clock just to make our lives comfortable – a chef to prepare our meals every day, a doctor to tend to us when we are sick, a teacher to help us with school work and life problems, a CEO of the household, our protector to make sure we are always safe, and so many more!

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Solane, the leading provider of LPG solutions, reminds everyone to show their love and appreciation to the woman who ceaselessly devotes herself to the family. This occasion is another moment that falls in perfectly with Solane’s Dapat Lang campaign, a program that emphasizes the importance of doing the right thing, for the family, for others and society as a whole.

And so for their continuous sacrifice, dapat lang we honor and make them feel special, and we can definitely do so through these five simple heartwarming deeds:

Cook breakfast for mom. Mothers are usually the first ones to wake up early to prepare meals and baon for the kids. This time around, let mom sleep a little longer and prepare her favorite breakfast food. Make it even more special and let her have breakfast in bed. Not only will mom admire the gesture, but it’s also guaranteed to be a good kick-start to Mother’s Day.

Let our mom enjoy a work-free day. Being head of the household means overseeing if the house is clean, ensuring the pantry is stocked with food, and cooking food for the family. Without a doubt, it can get tiring for our moms. On Mother’s Day, help her by volunteering to do the household chores and let her sit back and relax.

Spend time together. Set aside all other plans and enjoy the rest of the day with mom. Gather the whole family together and celebrate an adventure-filled day like a picnic in the park, outdoor barbecue, a hike or swim, or an out-of-town trip. This will definitely make mom feel special!

Pamper our mom. This is the perfect time to make our mothers feel like queens for a day. After all the chores she’s been doing, treat her to a quick session of mani-pedi, an hour worth of massage, or even something as simple as putting cucumber slices on her face for an affordable at-home facial that will immediately make her feel like royalty.

Surprise mom with a simple gift. Celebrating Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be grand or expensive. Simple gestures like making a hand-made card with a short but sweet message, offering a long-stemmed rose, or baking a cake will surely warm her heart. As they say, it’s the thought that counts!

So go ahead and try these simple tips. Not only will your mom feel loved, but it will also make your bond even stronger. Dapat lang!

Solane promotes Filipino values

The country’s leading LPG provider has launched a campaign that advocates positive Filipino values and emphasizes the importance of family

As the country gears up for change, ISLA LPG Corporation (ILC), the leading LPG solutions company and owner of the brand Solane, launches an advocacy campaign that aims to remind consumers of the importance of family and positive Filipino values.

Drawing inspiration from the popular Filipino expression, which in English means, “That’s how it should be… Rightly so,” ISLA LPG launches the “Dapat Lang” campaign — a program that emphasizes the importance of doing the right thing, for the family, for others and society as a whole. The campaign also touches on the importance of bringing back traditional Filipino values which have somehow been misplaced in our high-technology, fast-paced, modern setting. These values include commitment to the family, honesty, hard work, respect for others, and integrity.

“As we prepare for the many changes happening in our environment, we at ISLA LPG would like to remind everyone of the Filipino values that define us as a people and to put importance on the family, being a good neighbor and a valuable member of society,” said ILC-CEO Ruben Domingo. “Our new campaign reminds all of us — our consumers, employees, and business partners — to do the right thing in everything we do, all the time, wherever we are, in order to truly bring out positive change in all of us.”

The advocacy campaign will be communicated with various mediums — print and radio ads, social media, and online videos, showcasing a mom cooking the best dishes for her family, an employee putting in ample time at work, a chef preparing high-quality ingredients for his customers, a manager catering to the needs of the client, the Solane Hatid Bahay rider ensuring that LPG delivery is safe and on time.

As part of the Dapat Lang campaign, ISLA LPG is also launching a new website, which outlines the various ways with which Solane stakeholders can live out the new campaign principle in their everyday lives. The newly revamped site also features a blog that will serve as a way for ISLA LPG to communicate directly with its consumers, especially moms. The blog will feature quick and easy recipes and helpful and time-saving tips on cooking for the family, keeping a safe environment at work and home, and more.

For its part, ISLA LPG lives out the Dapat Lang campaign by doing what it does best since the brand Solane was launched almost five years ago — provide consumers with high-quality, safe, reliable LPG products.

“We value our consumers’ safety and we ensure that it is our key priority,” said Mr. Domingo. “We also value our customers’ trust by providing excellent products and services that are well worth their family’s hard-earned money.”

Moreover, ISLA LPG offers Solane Hatid-Bahay Service, an exclusive service provided to Solane LPG residential customers. ISLA LPG’s well-trained riders conduct a Weight Check in front of customers using calibrated portable weighing scales, assuring households of value for their money. The Solane Hatid-Bahay riders also perform the 7-Point Safety Check free of charge to help ensure the safety of consumers and their families. This includes checking the surroundings, o-ring, regulator, regulator and valve connection, hose, hose connection, and flame quality.

Furthermore, ISLA LPG holds regular safety seminars for its customers as well as to various communities nationwide. The company’s employees and contractors follow strict compliance of safe LPG handling and fire safety. Through this, ISLA LPG has achieved a significant milestone of 13 million man hours without lost time injury.

This commitment to provide the best and safe product and service is, needless to say, reinforced with the launch of the company’s new advocacy campaign because as they say, Kapag LPG, Dapat Lang Solane!
