Whatever the situation we find ourselves in today, it’s important to not panic. This is especially true for pregnant moms as it can be a daunting experience to give birth in the midst of a pandemic. Keep in mind that pregnancy doesn’t increase the risk of getting COVID-19, so prioritize being healthy physically and mentally, as well as practice the necessary precautions of sanitizing and physical distancing. Being bombarded with worries and feeling scared is inevitable, so it’s also essential to constantly be in touch with your doctors and loved ones for the proper care and reassurance that everything will be alright. Nowadays, we are fortunate to have many technological solutions at our disposal to help us do just that.

Take a holistic approach to health.

When faced with an unfamiliar situation, it’s always good to cover all bases. We’re challenged to answer our children as they bring up questions why they suddenly stopped going to school, or why they can’t go out, meet, and play with their friends. It’s crucial that you create an open environment at home to talk about what’s happening without revealing too much as this may pose fear. It’s also important to create a safe space for your children to properly express their feelings so you’re able to determine their needs. The next step is to create routines and sort tasks in schedule so you can reestablish a sense of normalcy for them to grow physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally even at home. This helps you create boundaries, especially if you’re a working mom too.

Prioritize your mental health.

Finding that perfect recipe of being present in meetings, following deadlines, all while doing household chores and attending to your children’s needs takes a bigger toll on your mental health. What’s important is for you to not be too hard on yourself, take everything one step at a time, and strike a balance. Help yourself stay calm and collected by stopping when you’re feeling overwhelmed and take a minute to do a mindfulness activity, such as doing breathing exercises or even hugging yourself.

A healthy diet and proper exercise can help improve your mood during these times.

We sometimes struggle to keep structure in our day, making us forget to do physical activities, and even skip meals as we lose track of time at home. This can easily make us feel more tired, groggy, and irritable which can take a toll in our physical, social, and emotional well-being. Now more than ever, it’s vital to practice exercise and healthy eating habits. A nutritious and mood-boosting meal should always comprise of half a plate of fruits and vegetables, ¼ plate of rice or any other carbohydrates, and ¼ plate of protein such as chicken, fish, pork, or beef. Though it may be difficult to introduce a variety of food especially to young children, make it a proactive approach by nurturing a healthy diet while pregnant and exposing different flavors to your infant. For toddlers and pre-school aged children, slowly introduce changes to food by being creatively incorporating it in their meals. In terms of physical activity, limit screen time to a minimum. This can be done by assigning age-appropriate household chores and encouraging active play at home, such as crawling, playing catch, running around, or dancing.

“The strides made in cord blood transplantation has made this manner of treating diseases more widely accepted by people,” said Dr. Arvin Faundo, Cordlife Philippines Medical Director. “Currently, umbilical cord blood transplant is considered as one of the standard forms of treatments for leukemia, among others. Also, many clinical trials4, 5 worldwide are ongoing for which the results are encouraging. In fact, Duke Medicine is studying the use of umbilical cord blood stem cells6 to treat autism and related brain disorders. While the trials are still in the initial phases, we are hopeful that these will yield positive results.” 

Last June, Duke Medicine received USD 15 million funding by Atlanta-based Marcus Foundation. Apart from treating patients based in the United States, Duke Medicine has also opened its door for possible participants from outside of the country provided they meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria7 to be considered, patients must be aged between 24 months and 72 months old. The patient would also need to travel at least three times to Duke Medicine in the United States – at the infusion, the six- and 12-month follow up stages. A stipend worth U$1,000 will likewise be provided to the trial participant per trip to help defray travel expenses.

Baby Blast “fun-o-lympics” seeks to spread awareness of Early Head Start (EHS) education, a comprehensive infant and toddler development program, using various games and activities for the entire family.

The event will also feature EHS experts who will give talks on parenting, health, and early education. 

“Enjoyable and unforced learning is critical in laying down the foundation for holistic development. The country's biggest family expo "BABY & FAMILY EXPO PHILIPPINES 2014,"  where families love to shop, learn and play is on its 2nd year!

Each and every parent has dreams for his or her own children. For “Bet On Your Baby” host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, the dreams and wishes she has for her own kids, Yohan and Lucho, is simple—that they grow up to be good, with unwavering faith in God.

Judy Ann has also said that if ever her children decide to follow in her and her husband Ryan’s footsteps, taking them into showbiz, she won’t stop them.

“It’s inevitable that they get exposure to this industry, especially since they see that this is their parents’ career,” she explained.

This Saturday (January 18) on “Bet On Your Baby,” find out what the different dreams of the show’s contestants are for their own kids.

It’s time for babies from simple families from all over the country to join in on the fun in ABS-CBN’s cutest game show, “Bet On Your Baby,” as it opens the doors of the baby dome to all regular contestants this Saturday (Nov 9). 

The game show trended on Twitter for three weeks straight. Aside from its success on social media, “Bet On Your Baby” also won in the TV ratings game, garnering 27.6% as opposed to its rival program on GMA 7, which accumulated 15.5%, according to data from Kantar Media. 

In the upcoming episode of “Bet On Your Baby,” taking part in the three game rounds are Baby Tino Magallano with his parents Luther and Cristina from Quezon City;
