Beko named “Top Impact Company” of 2022

Beko, Europe’s leading home appliance brand, has been ranked 20th on the Real Leaders Top 200 Impact Companies of 2022 in recognition for its being a pioneer of sustainability and impact.

Real Leaders is a membership community for impact leaders with a global media platform dedicated to driving positive change. The Real Leaders 200 Top Impact Companies Award recognizes organizations that are making a positive social or environmental impact.

The company’s inclusion in the Real Leaders list shows how its sustainability initiatives are aligned with The Real Leaders’ purpose, as Beko continues to inspire others through its sustainable business practices. The company encourages people to live better lives by utilizing environmentally friendly technologies and emphasizing the idea that humans and the world are inevitably linked.

Through its “healthy living is only possible on a healthy planet” approach, Beko focuses on empowering next generations to live healthier lives.

Over the past two decades, the company has focused on innovation to make its customers’ lives healthier and more convenient by a line of eco-friendly appliances that reflect the brand’s sustainability mission. The product line uses recycled materials, bio-composites and detergent-saving technologies for sustainable living.

Beko’s technologically advanced range of sustainable products including a washing machine/washer dryer, oven, tumble dryer, refrigerator, espresso coffee maker, and dishwashers were launched in 2021 when Beko reiterated its commitment to sustainability.

Launched initially in European countries, the EcoTub Washing Machine & Washer Dryer uses plastic waste transformed into a valuable alternative raw material. Approximately up to 60 recycled 0.5L PET bottles were used in the tubs of washing machines and washer dryers on certain models. This is the world's first example of this type of application in home appliances and this eco-friendly new manufacturing method significantly lowers carbon dioxide emissions. Since the beginning of this project in 2017, 58 million plastic bottles have been recycled with a reduction of CO2 emissions by almost 2,200 tons

The BioCycle Refrigerator has durable components composed of bio-based plastics and egg trays made from eggshell wastes and bioplastics. Each fridge's two egg trays contain eggshell waste from five eggs. The fan cover is 100% bio-based plastics (33gr) from sustainable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. The door seal is 25% bio-based (soybean oil) materials (195 gr).

Meanwhile, the AutoDose Dishwasher dispenses the right amount of detergent for sparkling clean dishes every time. In each wash, up to 28% less detergent is used.

“It is a privilege to be recognized as one of the Real Leaders Top 200 Impact Companies of 2022, because of Beko’s relentless efforts toward building a more sustainable future. As a business, we continue to innovate and understand that we have a collective responsibility to lead the way in working to prevent environmental devastation. Knowing that sustainability and innovation efforts must go hand in hand to achieve a meaningful impact, we encourage our industry peers and customers to join the fight with us, to ensure a more sustainable future, for all,” said Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Arçelik, Beko's parent company.

"Beko has made significant contributions to the larger cause of ensuring a sustainable global environment and we are very honored to be recognized for this. Beko hopes to continue inspiring others through its sustainable business," said Gürhan Günal, country manager of Beko Pilipinas Corporation.

European appliance maker Beko reiterates commitment to sustainability

When it comes to home and furniture design, we look to Europe for minimalist yet striking aesthetics. The same can be said about European appliances, which are designed in elegant and timeless ways and usually come in neutral colors so they can fit any interiors.

But beyond aesthetics, European appliances are known for being environment-friendly and energy efficient. The European Union has the most comprehensive and useful regulations when it comes to informing consumers how energy-efficient appliances are. Most white goods being sold in the EU have to be tagged with an energy rating from A to G, with A being the best.

Energy efficiency means a lower carbon footprint.

As Europe’s leading appliance brand, Beko is always looking for new technologies that help preserve nature and allow people to live a healthy lifestyle.

For Beko refrigerators, HarvestFresh technology keeps fruits and vegetables fresh for up to 30 days, preserving the vitamins in them for longer. Meanwhile, the Inverter Compressor works in all weather conditions with less energy usage.

Beko’s highly efficient washers with ProSmart Inverter Motor not only use 30% less energy than EPA standards, but the water level sensor makes sure no water is ever wasted.

The dryers have revolutionary closed-loop heat exchange system that reuse the hot air during drying cycles, conserving energy as well as over 50% in savings compared to conventional dryers.

Last year, Beko ran a survey across several countries in Europe, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France to find out what its consumers wanted in terms of sustainability.

In the survey, 80 percent of people said they practiced recycling in their daily lives, followed by Italy at 78 percent and then Germany at 66 percent.

After the survey, Beko set environmental targets, such as achieving zero emissions by 2050. The company also announced the launch of a new range of eco-friendly appliances that are made from recycled plastic and even fishing nets.

“At Beko, we recognize the urgency of water pollution and saving the planet’s resources. We will adapt our existing technologies to make all our appliances more environmentally friendly. Our efforts as makers of appliances will help ensure a more sustainable future for the next generations,” said Gürhan Günal, Country Manager of Beko Pilipinas Corporation.
