Make wonderful memories with lolo and lola at Araneta Center

Our lolos and lolas hold a special place in our hearts. Divisoria Guide App Available for Download Starting Sept. 6

Enjoy the wonderful world of Divisoria!

From this day onward, anyone can snatch the best deals in Manila’s famous marketplace with the help of an app – and without worries of getting lost.
1185098_421082168011455_1929839365_n
Divisoria Guide App for iOS, an application created by young Filipino entrepreneur from Palawan province, John Christian Yayen will be available for download starting 5pm on Friday, September 6.
The app, which will be sold at $2.99 or around P130 at the App Store is the best would-be-mobile-essential for new and aspiring entrepreneurs, and bargain hunters as they explore the country’s biggest marketplace for bargains.
Divisoria Guide App’s main feature is the offline map that covers all the streets in the crowd-drawing Divisoria market in Manila. Notes and tips on how to score a deal as well as what street merchandises to buy were also featured in the app.
As someone who already got lost in the crowded Manila area several times before, Yayen said he decided to work on the App not only to help himself but also other small business owners and ordinary consumers who might be interested to shop at Divisoria but are hesitant to do so for they have no idea where to go, not to mention the fact they are very concerned with their safety.
The 24 year-old BS Nursing graduate of the University of Santo Tomas added, “Divisoria Guide is the perfect app for everyone who would dare to visit that part of Manila especially nowadays that even search engine giant, Google has very limited information about it.”
Yayen said locals and even the Chinese businessmen who frequent the area are not even that familiar with the places that he just discovered while doing his research for this app. His almost one year of hard work made him realize that Divisoria has a lot of things to offer – from the basic commodities at very low prices that attract local and foreigners alike to as huge as the Filipino culture and history.
With this app, mobile app users can now access great information in just a click of a keypad.
With plenty of information on establishments, products, and other useful utilities, the app would help users in many ways, which include saving a lot of their time, money and effort.
Indeed, there’s no better way to explore Divisoria than by having this reliable app on one’s iOS device.
Divisoria Guide App will also be available for Android soon.

Sony Unveils the New Bravia® 4K LED TV for the Best Home Entertainment Experience

Sony once again revolutionizes watching television through its 4K movement. With its promise to bring the best viewing experience “from the lens to the living room,” here's the REAL 4K!  The Sony BRAVIA® 4K TV.

Sony Unveils the New Bravia® 4K LED TV in 55- and 65-inch for the Best Home Entertainment Experience.

Four times more beautiful from every angle, four times more detail than a full high definition (HD) experience – Sony proves that your cinematic pleasures can be magnified four times more.

Sony has created an ecosystem which comprises of professional cameras, recorders, monitors, home digital front projectors, and now includes the new line-up of 4K LED TVs, giving consumers the most immersive entertainment experience from start to end.
Coming from a successful launch of the 84-inch 4K LED TV in 2012, Sony is bringing to the market 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes in its KD-X9004A Series line-up, which ultimately brings the 4K LED TV experience to a broader reach of consumers. The two new TVs, which deliver the highest picture quality at an incredible 8 million pixels, were unveiled in an exclusive media launch on September 3, 2013 at the Fairmont Hotel.

Before the program proper, media attendees and other guests were treated to an exciting BRAVIA ® 4K demonstration that proved Sony has the edge in bringing superior picture and sound quality to home viewers. In a separate room, everyone witnessed the magic of 4K Technology in restoring old films into their glorious state by replicating and reproducing rich and delicate color tones that other technologies cannot accomplish. To demonstrate this more clearly, a short documentary video of the 4K powered “Lawrence of Arabia” was shown. The clip demonstrates the beauty of a restored material.

“Lawrence of Arabia” is a 1962 British-American epic adventure drama film based on the life of T. E. Lawrence, a British World War I officer who led Bedouin tribesmen in guerilla assaults against their Turkish occupiers. The hero’s leadership helped destroy the Ottoman Empire. Now a classic, the film is widely considered as one of the greatest and most influential movies in the history of cinema. In 2012, a 4K digital restoration was made for Blu-Ray and theatrical release by Sony Pictures to celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary.

“For years upon years, Sony has strived to give consumers the most immersive home entertainment experience from beginning to end. We want to be a part of your authentic viewing experience, with 4K’s promise of a sharper and clearer picture quality that makes images seemingly come to life. I am more than proud to say that Sony is the first to introduce 4K TVs into the Philippine market. We aspire to change the way you watch television forever,” said President and Managing Director of Sony Philippines, Mr. Yasushi Asaoka.

Aptly so, Philippine media representatives to the Sony BRAVIA® Media Tour held in Tokyo, Japan recently supported this claim. Influential tech blogger and YugaTech.com founder Abe Olandres sent in a video diary of his 4K Tokyo experience, helping non-techies understand more closely the power of 4K. For his part, accomplished filmmaker and The Philippine Star columnist Pepe Diokno discussed the 4K Technology using a filmmaker’s point of view.

“It's all about movie magic — when images and sound are so clear and so vivid that they totally engross you. Sony's 4K technology does this. It means 8 million pixels of pure visual bliss. Look at a 4K Bravia and it doesn't feel like you're watching a TV. It feels like you're watching the world,” said Diokno.

The new BRAVIA® 4K TVs have the 4K X-reality PRO processing engine which not only reduces visual noise and corrects image shapes, but also up scales 2K content to a near 4K native resolution. The X-Series TVs have also employed the latest Reality Creation database and Super Resolution processing to optimise images, and produce stunning picture quality with richer colours and sharpness.

Furthermore, TRILUMINOS Display LED backlighting is used in the 4K LED TVs to present rich, authentic color with subtle tones while also replicating bold colours including hard-to-reproduce reds and greens. By integrating QD Vision’s Colour IQTM optical component with Sony’s unique display technologies, these televisions achieve significantly wide color gamut and provide a far more natural and vivid viewing experience with a heightened sense of depth.

To complete the experience, the X series TVs also offer a better sound experience by incorporating an end-to-end Sony audio solution. Using Sony’s proprietary Magnetic Fluid Speaker technology, the delivery of sound pressure levels are higher than what conventional TVs can produce.

Finally, with its “Sense of Quartz” design, the X Series TVs embody BRAVIA’s sophisticated design. Sculpted from genuine metal and glass material, the Quartz edge of the TVs, combined with its bold geometric shapes embodies beauty and style to create a distinctive silhouette that complements every kind of home surrounding. As the centerpiece of your home entertainment, its elegant design will add a touch of class to your living room.

SmartConcept launches “Affiliate Marketing Program”

To help curb unemployment or provide additional income to Filipinos

With the idea of having more Filipinos earn a decent livelihood amid a strong yet still largely volatile local economy and rising unemployment numbers, SmartConcept, Inc., one of the country’s fast-rising direct advertising and marketing companies, launched today a marketing program that hopefully will bring good news to many Filipinos who are unemployed or even those who want to supplement their income.
Called “Affiliate Marketing Program,” this performance-based marketing system allows its members, called “affiliates,” to be equitably rewarded for each retail or even online customer they can recruit.

The general idea is to promote a long-term business relationship between the four core players within the system such as SmartConcept itself, which is the marketing company, the “merchant” or the product or service provider, otherwise known as the “retailer,” plus the “affiliate” or independent distributor and finally the “customer” or the client or actual consumer of the products and services.

SmartConcept, Inc., established back in 2008, introduced to the market the SmartConcept Discount Catalogues or “Loyalty Coupons,” which offer discount benefits through its partner-merchants that include Restaurants, Fastfood Chains, Salons, Spas, Health and Fitness centers, Amusement and Entertainment establishments, Car Care Centers, Medical and Dental Clinics, among others.

Through the “Discount Catalogues,” more people are also able to experience these prestigious brands and essentially helped drive consumption and elevate these SmartConcept partner-merchants’ brand status to a higher level.

“The real essence of this system is that aside from Filipinos patronizing products and services of SmartConcept merchant partners, those who will join can also invite others to become members and be part of a growing community. Together with their recruits, they can both enjoy exciting rewards and economic benefits they have never experienced before,” explains Minerva “Minnie” Tun, Chief Operating Officer of SmartConcept, Inc. during the launch.

There are at least 3 ways to earn incentives under the SmartConcept Affiliate Marketing Program, the so-called “3 Rs”: Retail, Referral and Rebate.

“Retail” incentives include a 25% discount for every Loyalty Coupon purchased by a customer. “It is easy to earn through this because you can easily share or sell the coupon to family, neighbors, your friends, officemates or just about any other person you can meet on the street,” explains Ms. Tun.

As for “Referral,” which is more recruitment-based, it means the higher number of “affiliates” a person refers, the higher the referral bonus and members can refer an unlimited number of prospects. As for “Rebate,” incentives come in the form of “Personal Sales Rebate” where the higher the rank, the higher the personal sales rebate, and for “Group Sales Rebate,” the more members referred and supported, the bigger the rebate. Also, the more coupons sold, the higher the benefits.

Other sales rebates included in the program are “Leader’s Sales Rebate” and the “Diamond Manager Royalty Income,” wherein the more managers developed and supported, the bigger the royalty income.

“Above everything else, this is just a small step in our objective of helping our current and prospective partner companies drive sales for their product or service through an innovative and dynamic marketing system. We hope to be able to expand this system and eventually help provide excellent opportunities to many Filipinos to be more financially self-sufficient and be more successful entrepreneurs in the direct marketing business sphere,” adds Ms. Tun.

SmartConcept was formed with the objective of becoming the first and largest, fully Filipino-owned direct advertising and marketing firm in the Philippines. Its personnel has more than a decade’s wealth of experience and expertise, and has offices in Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Cebu City and Davao City.

Social Networks as Facebook and Youtube ban OPM band’s video for being “inappropriate”

TEEN BAND Line of 7 has created a stir on various social media channels this week after it released online a music video that did not leave anything to the imagination.

The risqué promotional video for the group’s debut single “Langit” has been banned a few times on Facebook and Youtube after concerned netizens reported the video for being “inappropriate” because of its frontal nudity and breasts exposure contents.
“Langit” instantly became the trending subject on the Facebook and Twitter only hours after its release. While many found the music video entertaining because of its sex-comedy genre, some found it offensive.
“Our music video depicts the sexual fantasies of male Filipino teens on their remedial class teacher. It is the first of its kind in the Philippines,” says Line of 7 lead guitarist and second vocalist Alex Dieudonne.
“We wanted to be truthful and realistic in showing what really goes on in the minds of our fellow male teens. It isn’t intended to be pornographic—perhaps, just a little naughty—that’s why we think that it doesn’t deserve to be taken out of Facebook and Youtube,” he adds.
Composed of vocalist Argee Golding, bassist Seth Torralba, and drummer Matt Ong, and Dieudonne, Line of 7 represents the sentiments of the free-spirited, fun-loving and carefree Filipino youths of today. The band’s name, Line of 7, cleverly appeals to students who receive barely passing grades.

Independent actress Lang Sky took the challenge as the seductive high school teacher in the music video directed by Ace Villena and produced by the band manager Chris Cahilig. Meanwhile, the song “Langit” was composed by Urie Tesorio. It became the “Most Wanted Song” in 97.1 Barangay LS.

According to Ong, the “more wholesome” version of the controversial music video can still be viewed on Youtube while the censored version found its way to various sexually charged websites, including popular porn sites.

Line of 7 is managed by Chris Cahilig.

Sam Concepcion evolves via new album Infinite

“You’ll get to know Sam the performer in the album. This album is ME, NOW. It says many things about who I am at present.” - - - Sam Concepcion
One awesome celebrity,  singer-dancer-actor Sam Concepcion, chose to shed his boy-next-door, squeaky clean image via the release of his latest albumInfinite, under Universal Records. The album showcases the young singer’s growth, evolution into being one of the finest singers in the land, perhaps the best in his batch.
The album’s single No Limitations, a collaboration between Sam, Billy Crawford, Kris Lawrence and Marcus Davis, exhibits Sam’s desire to be taken as a more serious performer. Its modern, edgy video, featuring Solenn Heussaf, gives one an idea where Sam would want to go as a recording artist.
Luckily, fans of the young singer seem to appreciate the “new” Sam as his first music video off the album is currently number one on the Pinoy Myx Countdown, and is receiving favorable airplay from radio stations. The single also remained on top of the mymusicstore charts for six weeks.
He adds that he is also thankful that he was given the chance to collaborate with the most prolific recording artists in the country – Billy Crawford, Christian Bautista, JayR, among others.
Christian penned the song Love, Love, Love for Sam. Sam and Christian were both discovered STAGES when they worked together 10 years ago in the musical The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Rescue You, previously recorded as a Christian-Sam duet, is now a solo song rendered by Sam.
JayR and Sam performed a duet in the album – I’m The One, where both of them showcased their R&B influences.

Sam also records his version of Mahal Na Mahal Kita, an OPM ditty given a more contemporary feel.

Why location still matters

It’s an oft-quoted remark that when buying a property, there are only three things that one should consider: location, location, location. This emphasis on where the property is sited rests its argument that location will determine the quality of your life and how fast—or how slow—your property will appreciate in value. Of course, a variety of market forces dictates the price of real estate but it’s safe to assume that the more urbanized the area is, the more expensive the property becomes.

“Aside from the track record of the developer, another crucial factor to consider is location,” says Emma Amores, Corporate Communications Head.  “Way before planning for our high-rise developments, we have already determined key areas that are desirable for the end user and have the most potential for growth. We also play to the strengths of the location. For instance, in Katipunan, we know that our target market there is composed mainly of parents who want to give their children the best possible accommodation in their college life.”
Indeed, every location has its own particular identity, charm and treasure trove of opportunities. In Quezon City, Vista Residences conceptualized glitzy developments as a nod to the city being the “Entertainment Capital of the Philippines.” The company located its two projects, Symphony Tower and Wil Tower Mall, near the two biggest broadcasting stations in the country: ABS-CBN and GMA 7. Some of the unit owners work for either of the two, finding the convenience of just walking to work or home as refreshing.

Another sector that has found these developments appealing is government executives; Quezon City has the most number of government offices in Metro Manila. After work, they can easily find some relaxation along the many restaurants of Tomas Morato or in the city’s gigantic malls, SM North Edsa and Trinoma. For their medical needs, the residents have plenty of choices: from Capitol Medical Center in Quezon Avenue to St. Luke’s Medical Center in E. Rodriguez Avenue to Heart Center in East Avenue.

Quezon City is home to some of the best universities of the country such as University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and Miriam College. As mentioned, the company is currently building Vista Residence Katipunan which is stone’s throw away from these institutions of learning. Katipunan, with its many restaurants, is also evolving as a veritable dining destination of its own.
In terms of the sheer number of universities, nothing can beat the capital Manila. 878 España, a single-tower development, seeks to provide comfortable home to those studying in University of Santo Tomas, and also those in Far Eastern University, University of the East and Centro Escolar University, among others. At the other end of Manila, the company is building Vista Residence Taft which will service the lodging needs of students in De La Salle College, College of St. Benilde and St. Scholastica’s College.

Manila’s charm is largely historical, chiefly due to Intramuros with its centuries-old churches such as Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church. It remains also as the country’s publishing capital as it is the home of newspaper organizations. In terms of leisure opportunities, it has many things to offer. Malate remains to be a vibrant hub of bars, restaurants and cafés while malls (Robinson’s Place, SM Manila and Harrison Plaza) provide the high of retail therapy.

When it comes to commercial complexes, however, nothing comes close to Mandaluyong, which is dubbed as the “Mall Capital of the Philippines.” Vista Residences’ development in this city is 515 Shaw which, as its name suggests, is located along the main artery of Shaw Boulevard. Mere minutes is all it takes to be at SM Megamall, Shangri-La Mall, Star Mall and Robinson’s Galleria.

Mandaluyong is also home, or is close to, some of the best high schools in Metro Manila such as OB Montessori, La Salle Greenhills, Poveda College, Xavier School and Lourdes School. Because of its privileged location, the city is close to central business districts (CBD) of Bonifacio Global City, Makati and Ortigas.

Right at the heart of the Ortigas CBD is The Currency, which is located in the corners of the district’s most famous streets: Dona Julia Vargas Avenue, F. Ortigas Jr. Avenue (formerly Emerald Ave) and Garnet Road. The development, which features both residential and commercial places, is in close proximity to five star hotels (Shangri-La Mall and Discovery Suites), national and multi-national headquarters (San Miguel), malls (SM Megamall, The Podium, Shangri-La Mall) and happening places (El Pueblo, The Strip and Metrowalk).

Still regarded as the country’s “Financial Capital,” Makati City is home to a plenitude of offices, both local and international. It has a clutch of five-star hotels (Shangri-La Mall, Peninsula Manila, Intercontinental Hotel, Mandarin Oriental), topnotch museums and galleries (Ayala Museum, Finale Art File) and world-class hospital (Makati Medical Center). Greenbelt and Glorietta comprise the main commercial hub of the city whose expansion shows no sign of abating.

Vista Residences has located some of its premier developments in the CBD’s most notable villages: Mosaic and KL Mosaic Towers and The Gallery (Legapsi Village) and Salcedo Square (Salcedo Village).  The towers in Legaspi Village have the good fortune to be walking distance to the high-end dining and shopping and experience of Greenbelt while Salcedo Square boasts proximity to Ayala Triangle with its equally arresting dining choices.

Trevi Towers, another Vista Residence project which is located along Pasong Tamo, Makati,  is neighbors with Little Tokyo (a clutch of restaurants that serve authentic Japanese food), the mall Makati Cinema Square and the schools of Don Bosco, Assumption and San Agustin.

Evolving to be the country’s showroom to the world, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig is proving to be another seductive choice of address. In this location, Vista Residences has Avant at the Fort, the first building constructed at BGC with the tenets of green architecture in mind.

BGC’s primary retail experience is offered by Bonifacio High Street while the newly opened SM Aura adds to the number of high-end shops that now operate in the city. It is home to a world-class museum (Mind Museum), hospital (St. Luke’s Hospital) and offices (Net One, Bonifacio Technology Center, JP Morgan). Shangri-La Hotel will soon add to the growing skyline of BGC.

“Our presence in the most urbanized centers of the city gives prospective unit buyers a variety of choice on where they wish to live,” says Amores. The key in selecting a development is for him to determine his needs, his lifestyle and his objective. From the North to the South of Metro Manila, a right Vista Residences project is waiting for him.”

Five Awardees take center stage in the 55th Ramon Magsaysay Awards Ceremonies

THREE individuals and two organizations who share the virtue of selflessness in working for their people’s welfare received the 2013 Ramon Magsaysay Awards in a formal presentation ceremony at the CCP Main Theater last August 31.
This year’s awardees come from diverse cultures and regions—Lahpai Seng Raw from Myanmar, Habiba Sarabi from Afghanistan, Ernesto Domingo from the Philippines, Shakti Samuha from Nepal, and the Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) or Corruption Eradication Commission from Indonesia.
Hon. Maria Lourdes Sereno, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, was the guest of honor during the ceremony. She lead the conferment of the Award certificates and medallions to the five awardees. A video presentation commemorating the 55th Anniversary of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation was ushered during the proceedings.
The Magsaysay Awardees had a full schedule of activities prior to the Awards. They delivered public lectures and met with NGOs, academic institutions, development organizations, and local government executives. This allowed the awardees to share with a wide and diverse audience the remarkable work they are doing.
The Magsaysay Award was established in 1957 to honor the spirit of greatness and selfless leadership manifested in the extraordinary lives and work of the laureates— individuals and organizations who are dubbed as Asia’s heroes of change. President Ramon Magsaysay, whose life and leadership inspired the creation of the Award, now regarded as Asia’s premier prize and the region’s highest honor.
