PRSP grows network with VisMin chapters, announces upcoming 27th PR Congress

Manila, Philippines. January 22, 2021 – The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), the country’s premier association of PR and communications professionals, PRSP is expanding its network to the Visayas and Mindanao with the creation of regional chapters.

As the pandemic puts industries and businesses under immense pressure to adapt to the new normal and recoup losses, PRSP underscores the crucial role of communication and hopes to help synergize the efforts of communications professionals across the country. The newly instated chapters will provide more avenues for collaboration and learning through shared knowledge, technology, training and best PR practices.

Jones T. Campos, APR, former PRSP president and proponent of the chapter creation, said: “Aside from strengthening relationships among PR practitioners nationwide, having PRSP chapters in Cebu, Davao and other key cities in the Philippines will open more opportunities and integrate a common aspiration to professionalize the industry. Likewise, it will enable a nationwide way of combatting fake news, disinformation and misinformation while inculcating competence and ethical practice among PR and communications professionals.”

The new chapters will be created initially through a partnership with VisMin PR agencies PR Works, Selrahco and Bigseed. Jaja Chiongbian-Rama, founder and managing Director of Bigseed, gladly accepts the idea of having a PRSP chapter in Cebu: "We welcome this opportunity to connect and collaborate with other agencies and practitioners from around the country. With public relations evolving as the world around us changes, an organization such as the PRSP opens opportunities to set industry standards and provides an avenue for us to support and learn from one another.”

The same sentiment is echoed by Doris Mongaya of PR Works, who stated that the creation of regional chapters will result in greater cooperation between VisMin-based PR professionals and their Metro Manila counterparts, which could in turn lead to the faster development of the whole Philippine PR industry. “We recognize the efforts of PRSP in congregating PR professionals and agencies in a national scale. Through this, we have more avenues for collaboration, which is especially apt in these times. We’re looking forward to what’s to come,” Charles Lim of Selrahco adds.

PRSP President Norman Agatep, APR shares, “We appreciate how receptive our fellow PR practitioners in VisMin have been when we brought up our intention to create regional chapters of PRSP. These challenging times further highlight the importance of good communication both for brands and their audiences. With this new development, we reaffirm PRSP’s commitment to uphold ethics and elevate the PR practice nationwide.”

PRSP’s First 3-day Digital PR Congress

The biggest and most-awaited annual event of PRSP is the National Public Relations Congress. Now on its 27th year, the upcoming PR Congress is marking several firsts -- the first to go full-digital and the first to run for three days. These changes, particularly the shift to digital, reflect how the PR industry is adapting to the new normal and embracing new technologies to continue telling the story of brands and organizations.

The Congress, which will be held on February 17 to 19, 2021, will be headlined by topics such as the post-pandemic Philippine PR landscape, industry recovery efforts and pressing issues such as mental health in the workplace. With the theme “Transcend”, the 27th PR Congress hopes to inspire PR and communication practitioners across the country to go beyond conventional thinking and step out of their comfort zone to address pressing issues and collectively move forward to create a better normal for all.

Ana Pista, Congress chairperson, shared: “As the PR Congress has done since it started, we are bringing together a powerhouse roster of local and international speakers and delivering a lineup of timely and relevant topics this year. This year, more than ever, the Congress will highlight the role of PR in building a society that works for all.”

PRSP expects to welcome more than 1,000 PR and communications practitioners to this year’s Congress. For more information about PRSP and the upcoming 27th National Public Relations Congress, please visit the event’s website or official Facebook page or contact Lessa Azcarraga at lessa.azcarraga@ardent.com.ph.

Looking back and looking forward: How Mekeni powered through the COVID-19 crisis with Bayanihan and malasakit

Mekeni Food Corporation is no stranger to the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the food manufacturing brand was able to turn these challenges into opportunities to uplift communities and innovate their services.

Looking back: Embracing the new normal in business

At the onset of the pandemic, changes in the supply chain and consumer behavior have knocked many companies off balance. Mekeni, however, was able to navigate through the challenges and make these difficulties into a meaningful change that benefited everyone in and beyond their circle.

“Wading through uncharted waters over the past few months have been extremely difficult, but we have remained steadfast and resilient because of our people and communities that we serve. We have established programs and implemented agile operations to keep the business afloat while we prioritize our people’s welfare in the face of the crisis,” said Mekeni President Prudencio Garcia.

Last 2020, Mekeni has become one of the beacons of hope. The company came up with several long-term solutions to augment the livelihood of those who have been displaced and crippled by the economic crisis brought by the pandemic. Among these programs include the Mekeni Home2Home Delivery, reseller programs for distributors and employees, and the Bayani product line.

“We wanted to ensure that our customers will have access to quality food from the safety of their homes, so we launched our online delivery service. Also, we ought to find viable ways for our aspiring micropreneurs to continue earning their livelihood that’s why we strengthened our reseller program and diversified our product lines to cater to them,” said Garcia.

Mekeni is among the first companies that made delivery of frozen processed goods possible. The reseller program, on the other hand, is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to empowering its communities. Mekeni was able to embrace the new normal in business by enabling micropreneurs, which eventually helped revive the country’s MSMEs.

Leave no one behind: Helping Filipinos get through the pandemic

Apart from keeping the business afloat, Mekeni has always been keen on extending help to its communities may it be through donation drives or outreach activities.

The company has continued to deliver donations to select beneficiaries through various non-government organizations (NGOs) since mid-March when the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon was implemented. Mekeni has donated to several organizations all over Luzon. They’ve assisted frontliners in Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) Quezon City, Saint St. Luke’s Medical Center BGC in Taguig City, and Lugud Balen, a movement initiated by Kapampangan chefs, restaurant owners, and private individuals.

Mekeni also helped non-medical frontliners in Pampanga and has partnered with Caritas Manila and pledged food donations to over 700 families until year-end through its program Mekeni Bayanihan Pack.

Aside from helping their nearby communities during the pandemic, the company extended its efforts to far-flung areas devastated by natural disasters. Mekeni employees have spearheaded donation drives and turned over boxes of essential items to the displaced communities across the country.

Looking forward: The path to recovery continues

Despite the negative impact of the pandemic, Mekeni continues to adopt a bullish attitude in doing business in the new and better normal. Their commitment to innovation allows the company to continue changing the game for the food manufacturing industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking forward, Mekeni hopes to continue being every household’s partner in earning money by delivering quality products and services. The company promises to be the steady hands behind every aspiring entrepreneur, guiding and supporting them to fulfill their dreams.

“Our path to recovery is clear: we will continue prioritizing our people and our community’s welfare with malasakit and Bayanihan engraved in our services,” Garcia ended.

Golden Haven Memorial Lots Are Now the Most Lucrative, Hassle-Free Investments for OFWs

In the wake of a turbulent year that upended jobs and threw people’s income opportunities in disarray, more Filipinos are now taking a hard look at investment options that could provide a safety net for the uncertain times. And one sector that is especially seen as potential investors is that of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Golden Haven Memorial Lots provide robust value appreciation over time.

OFWs all over the world are aptly regarded as “mga bagong bayani” for helping keep the Philippine economy afloat through the remittances they send home. Their immense contribution to our national coffers can’t be understated. The Philippine Statistics Association discloses that in 2020 alone, these Filipinos sent an average of $2.8 billion despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, recent surveys reveal that OFWs are utilizing their remittances for investments as preparation for their retirement.

These modern-day heroes are simply reaping the rewards of their hard work, one of which is having substantial cash to funnel into stable investment options such as treasury bonds, mutual funds, time deposits, stocks, and properties. However, OFWs who continue to toil abroad prefer passive income that requires little or no effort to grow.

Seen as secure, no-fuss assets that prove lucrative even for first-time investors, memorial lots in the Philippines provide robust value appreciation, especially when offered by the most trusted real estate developers. Thus, there’s no better place to look than Golden Haven, a well-established name in the deathcare industry.

Building their reputation off beautiful, inviting spaces that inspire loving tributes to the dearly departed, Golden Haven is now present in more than 30 major cities all over the Philippines, with more locations in the pipeline. As such, OFWs can choose to invest in memorial lots in or close to their hometowns.

Golden Haven is now present in more than 30 major cities all over the Philippines.

In fact, almost 20 percent of Golden Haven’s buyers are OFWs who now earn an average of 20 percent annually in terms of value appreciation. Golden Haven memorial lots currently range from Php 53,800 for a single lawn lot to Php 10M for mausoleums. These prices are only expected to rise with time as Golden Haven has shown consistent value appreciation through the years.

The process of investing in memorial properties has also been made easier for immigrants anywhere in the world as Golden Haven now offers online services through their website. Reservations and payments may be done with a simple click from their computer or mobile device.

Golden Haven memorial lots currently range from Php 53,800 for a single lawn lot to Php 10M for mausoleums.

Investors can also choose from a variety of payment options and plans that include long-lasting maintenance, wherein funds are used for the property and the overall maintenance of the park. Once a buyer has fully paid for their plan, they’re also guaranteed ownership in perpetuity.

Red Rosales, COO of Golden Haven, is upbeat that with economic factors such as lower bank rates being more conducive to investing, OFWs can safely allocate their hard-earned money to the purchase of Golden Haven memorial properties. “We extend great care and consideration to all our clients to ensure that they get absolute benefits from investing in Golden Haven,” he says. “It’s that same love and care that have made Golden Haven an enduring name in the deathcare industry.”

Golden Haven built their reputation off beautiful, inviting spaces that inspireloving tributes to the dearly departed.

Golden Haven is a subsidiary of publicly listed Golden MVHoldings Inc., currently positioned as one of the largest real estate companies in the country in terms of market capitalization valued at more than 200 billion pesos.

New Year, New Space: How to Declutter Your Home After the Holidays

The new year just rolled in and the rush of the holiday season is slowly wearing off for most people. The first few weeks are usually quiet since this is the perfect time to transition to a new beginning. If there’s one more thing to love about the new year, it’s the idea that it presents itself as a chance to finally clear out the clutter and get a fresh start.

With all the holiday preparations that went on and all the Christmas decorations that were taken out of storage, the whole house can still be disorganized right now. In the spirit of new beginnings, it’s time to start the year with a few tips to keep in mind for an effectively decluttered home:

  1. Declutter each space in the house

Focus on cleaning out one room at a time to ensure that nothing gets randomly relocated again. Let go of items that no longer serve its purpose, such as clothes that don’t fit anymore, or tupperwares that do not have matching lids. The key to successful decluttering is to make sure that everything has a home and its own designated spot.

When it comes to cleaning and decluttering specific areas, it’s best to work from the inside out. Start with the bedrooms upstairs or in the innermost part of the house then eventually to the garage or storage area which is usually located at the entrance. Going around each space should not be much of a trouble anymore thanks to the lightweight and ergonomic design of the Samsung Jet Cyclone Stick Vacuum that can clean various types of floors easily. With its Digital Inverter Motor, it can generate a suction power of up to 150W—ensuring every nook and corner of the house dust free and spotless. Cleaning also won’t be as straining for the body since the length of the pipe is adjustable. The vacuum has a long-lasting battery that can last for up to 40-minute use but it’s also easily removable, and can be charged directly with the Z Station Charging Stand.

The Jet Cyclone Stick Vacuum is also very powerful on carpets and hard floors. With its Turbo Action Brush, fine dust particles can be gone in no time. The brush rotates around 3,750 times a minute, and its 180 degree swivel head makes changing cleaning direction easier and more convenient than ever. It even has other types of brushes that are perfect for different kinds of surfaces.

  1. Sort it all out

Some items that are no longer needed in the house can still be in good enough condition to sell to a friend or donate to a local charity. To easily determine this, set up boxes that each have a Donate, Sell, and Throw label and carefully assess each item before tossing it in.

Samsung Combo Washer Dryer’s Cloud Cycle

The clothes, bedsheets, and towels that will be sold or donated should be cleaned first to ensure safety and cleanliness. The Samsung Combo Washer Dryer has an AirWash Technology that deodorizes and sanitizes different kinds of clothes, so they always smell fresh. With just super-hot air, unpleasant odors, bacteria and allergens are removed without boiling or using chemicals. And when the SmartThings App is in use, the Cloud Cycle feature can even recommend better washing performance for specific items or situations through the Laundry Recipe. And should there be any forgotten clothes, the Add Wash™ feature allows extra clothes to be easily popped in and added in the ongoing wash cycle.

  1. Fully commit to a clean home

The new year is also the best time to form new routines to stay organized for the rest of the year. Decluttering the house after all the holiday chaos is the first step to a truly fresh beginning and the next is maintaining it.

A new routine could be going on scheduled trips to the grocery and only purchasing the items on the list or allotting one day at the end of each week to complete all household chores, such as organizing the desk and sweeping the floors. Or set a date every six months to clean the closet and check on the items that are unused and unworn to free up space.

With the Samsung AirDresser, clothes can also be cleaned while other tasks are being completed for an effective chore day. Using its JetSteam feature that gets rid of bacteria, viruses, or allergens, clothes, and even plush toys, will be sanitized in no time. This is done by infusing high-temperature steam into the fabric. The AirDresser also has a Deodorizing Filter that freshens clothes by breaking down the particles of odors caused by sweat, tobacco, and food.

At the end of the day, the home will be clean, sanitized, and clutter-free.

Following these simple tips will result in a newly cleaned and organized home, which is a great way to welcome the new year.

NutriAsia and Papa team up with DepEd to teach students about proper nutrition

Proper diet and nutrition are crucial in young children’s formative years. These foster proper development for children, leading to good health, intelligence, and behavior, thus giving them better chances in succeeding later in life.

In light of this, NutriAsia and Papa forged a partnership with both Marylindbert International and the Department of Education (DepEd) for school year 2020-2021, the Pinggang Pinoy Pina-Sweet Sarap Comprehensive School Program. It is a special module that teaches the importance of having the right diet and nutrition. Powered by Papa Banana Catsup and Papa Spaghetti Pack, the program aims to educate Grade 1 and 2 Filipino students about how keeping a good diet with the right nutrition leads to proper and healthy development.

Department of Education Usec. Diosdado M. San Antonio and Former DepEd Regional Director and K to 12 Curriculum Consultant Dr. Paraluman Giron paved the way for the partnership with Papa Catsup.

“With the Pinggang Pinoy Pina-Sweet Sarap Comprehensive School Program, we have a whole plan ready for teaching young Filipinos how to keep a proper diet and take in the nutrients they need,” said NutriAsia President and COO Angie Flaminiano. “We hope to be a part of their good growth and development and, in turn, the Philippines’ growth as well.” The Pinggang Pinoy program will be launched in 30 participating schools across the country, namely in Regions I, X, XI, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

School children from Regions I, X, XI, and the Cordillera Administrative Region received DepEd workbooks and Papa products for a truly unique learning  experience.

The class module is the first in the three-stage Pinggang Pinoy program. The second stage will involve cooking demonstrations and activities that will show students and parents how to prepare healthy snacks using Papa products. The final stage will involve a cooking contest that will challenge students, teachers and parents to create unique recipes using Papa Banana Catsup and Papa Spaghetti Pack.

Papa’s advocacy of helping educate Filipinos in the classroom and beyond has also led them to produce edutainment Facebook videos for NutriAsia’s HomeSchool Program. These videos can be viewed at https://nutriasia.com/homeschool/

For more information and updates on Pinggang Pinoy and NutriAsia’s other initiatives, visit the official website at www.nutriasia.com, and follow NutriAsia on Facebook.

2020 is a life-changing year to us consumers. Our home played a bigger role on how we live and get things done. Most people converted their houses as their cozy office spaces. Some turned their kitchens to personal restaurants and developed their cooking and baking skills.

Others became “Plantitos” and “Plantitas” and created urban gardens to connect with nature and practice sustainable living. Purchasing behaviors and priorities have shifted too as people became smarter and practical shoppers. Customers during the new normal have allocated most of their budget on healthy food, medical supplies, and of course, home appliances.

As we continue to face the global pandemic this 2021, XTREME Appliances is dedicated to provide efficiency and assistance to more Filipino households. The goal of your #OneStopShopAppliances brand is to give a quality lifestyle in the midst of struggles and inconvenience. The following new line-up of XTREME Appliances are designed to be beneficial and substantial in every corner of our home.

Another highlight of Android TV is the fast cast option, a function that screen mirrors the mobile device to the TV so viewers can watch content in larger and clearer format.
