How technology helps students study better

Schools use computers and the Internet for their classroom resource and it can contribute richness and variety to student work. Computers can support the variety of ways learners construct their own understanding. Students who gather information from the Internet can be self-directed and independent.

Students in technology-supported classrooms are armed with powerful tools to help them gather information, consult with colleagues, and present their findings.

Teachers and school administrators noted these following improvememts:

Independence and information gathering. By connecting to the Internet, students learn how to do their own research. The wealth of information available on the Web plus the ease of using search engines give students more independence and confidence, as well as increased skill, when it comes to finding relevant data and putting this data together to meet a learning requirement or goal.

Critical thinking and reflection. With the large volume of information that they access, students are induced to learn to think critically: Which information is accurate? Is this information useful to the homework or subject at hand? Is this information validated by multiple sources and by the latest research findings? Students learn not to simply accept any data, no matter how readily available. With the guidance of their teacher, they are able to practice critical thought.

Using Internet-ready tablets and smartphones helps students to think independently and to develop information-gathering skills. Smartphones and tablet devices are available easily and affordably--at big discounts or free with a postpaid plan--at Allphones stores across the country.

Communication and collaboration. Through the exchange of ideas and messages—either by email, chat, or even social media—students are able to collaborate with each other to test their understanding of lessons. They can more easily ask questions to one another and provide answers and share research data. The can also help verify each other’s work. They can also involve their teachers in this collaborative and communication loop.
Communication and collaboration are important both in school and in a career setting. Students who use the Internet and Internet-ready mobile devices like smartphones and tablets develop skills that let them exchange information and collaborate on projects and homework. Help students develop these important life skills by getting them smartphones and tablets--at huge discounts or even for free with a postpaid plan--at Allphones stores across the Philippines.
More engaging learning experience. Information today is more engaging to the mind and the senses because of its multi-media nature. Students have text, images, video, audio, and even animation to help them better understand concepts and ideas relevant to their lessons. This multi-media experience lets this information be better ingrained in their minds.

Preparation for jobs later on. The jobs that students will be hired for, and the professions they practice, will require them to have working knowledge of computer use in the workplace, as well as for communication and information processing. Having students use computers and the Internet in the classroom prepares them for this future work environment.

Knowing all of these improvements and advantages, more and more schools are allowing not just desktop computers and laptops, but also tablet devices and smartphones in their classrooms. Tablet devices, as their computing power and multi-media features increase over time, are becoming a preferred tool for learning and instruction.

Students and their classmates can now more easily get the tools they need for computer-assisted, multi-media, and Web-connected learning thanks to affordable and value for money deals on smartphones and tablet devices at Allphones stores.
Internet-ready smartphones are valuable learning tools for students; these tools can help a student not only find information but to think about such data critically and reflectively. Students are able to assess, evaluate, verify, and cross-check the information that they use in their schoolwork. Allphones stores across the country provide Internet-ready smartphones to students at big discounts--or even for free with a postpaid plan.

All they have to do is visit any of the more than 50 Allphones stores across the country and get deals on smartphone and tablet bundles –that they can get for free with postpaid plans or at huge discounts for outright purchases.

The venture allows Healthway Medical to offer its premium healthcare services to more than 2.2 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos abroad through I-Remit’s iShop. Considered a “One-Stop Shop Delivery Service”, iShop accepts orders and coordinates the delivery of Pinoy gifts and pasalubong from Filipinos abroad to their respective beneficiaries and loved ones back home.

“By making our healthcare services available online, OFWs and foreigners can take care of themselves and their families without having to worry about being far away from home,” says Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

Healthway Medical will now be offering Health Screening services as well as its premium executive checkup package, HealthCheQ International, to over 1,400 remittance outlets located in 26 countries and territories covered by I-Remit.

Bang & Olufsen introduces the new BeoVision Avant

Bang & Olufsen rethinks the television with intuitive simplicity and mechanical innovation, by introducing the new BeoVision Avant

Redefining a television’s place in the home with its sublime Ultra High Definition (4K) video performance, jaw-dropping acoustic authenticity, and magical convenience to the consumer.

At Bang & Olufsen, innovation begins with understanding user needs before converging technology and craftsmanship to deliver design with lasting value. BeoVision Avant is an exact representation of this philosophy and evidence that high-end, multimedia entertainment can coincide with uncompromising design.

Based on Bang & Olufsen research and innovation, this flagship entertainment center has the muscle and finesse to deliver breath-taking performance when family and friends gather around it. On the flip side, BeoVision Avant also presents the good manners to blend in to the living room – and with the family’s lifestyle – when people choose to do something else. The BeoVision Avant was additionally conceived to last in a changing digital world, and is ready and able to work seamlessly with all the devices and content sources anyone in the family might want to use – without any of the complexity.

Bang & Olufsen was founded in Struer, Denmark, in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, two innovative, young engineers devoted to high quality audio reproduction. Since then, the brand has become an icon of performance and design excellence through its long-standing craftsmanship tradition and the strongest possible commitment to high-tech research and development.

Still at the forefront of domestic technology, Bang & Olufsen has extended its comprehensive experience with integrated audio and video solutions for the home to other areas such as the hospitality and automotive industries in recent years. Consequently, its current product range epitomizes seamless media experiences in the home as well as in the car and on the move. For more information on Bang & Olufsen, please visit www.bang-olufsen.com

Images are available free of charge from the Bang & Olufsen media center: http://mediacenter.bang-olufsen.dk If you are a first-time visitor, please follow the instructions and register as a new user.

Apple TV is a trademark of Apple, Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

According to CEO Tue Mantoni, BeoVision Avant was created to provide discerning homeowners the ultimate in authentic performance, intuitive simplicity and convenience. “Our research shows that consumers want more and more from their televisions,” he explains. “People are pressed for time, and they want entertainment that just works so they can focus on it – and each other – rather than the technology itself. BeoVision Avant delivers on all counts. The name Avant is a nod to our most successful TV to date, the Avant launched in 1995. Just as the first Avant was a game changer in an analogue era, we believe the new BeoVision Avant will set the standard for what should be expected from a television in the future”.

Magical mechanics and convenience

In the Bang & Olufsen tradition of taming technology in the service of simplicity, BeoVision Avant introduces a number of innovations that build new bridges between electronics and magical movement.

To create such amazing and impressive sound from a flat screen television, the designers have created a discrete but powerful sound panel that unfolds when the television is on, then retreats inside when one turns it off. The sound panel’s movements are coordinated with those of the new stands so the television is ready for viewing and listening in one choreographed flow.

BeoVision Avant’s innovative stand program includes wall, floor and table options which make integrating even a very large television into the home décor easier and more flexible than ever before. The concept vision was to create a TV which stays in the background of the living room when turned off and wakes up to action and takes center stage when turned on. Rather than arranging your room around the television, the new stands turn the television toward you when you want to use it – then back in place when you have finished viewing.

Spectacularly authentic sound

Consistent with Bang & Olufsen, BeoVision Avant sounds extraordinary right out of the box, but be prepared to discover just how good a television can sound with no fewer than eight driver units and eight dedicated amplifiers built in.

The sound panel magically glides from the television when it is turned on and performs brilliantly on its own. If one wants to connect external speakers to create a true surround sound experience – either wirelessly or wired – it could not be simpler with the integrated 7.1 surround sound module. Learn more about the sound of BeoVision Avant:

Exquisite video performance

A new Chromatic Room Adaptation feature analyzes ambient light from two sensors, and adjusts the screen to compensate for the room’s colour tones. High-grade anti-reflection coatings on both sides of the screen dampen reflections by 98%.

See full features and specifications:

Wherever one chooses to watch it, BeoVision Avant is ready to deliver spectacular Ultra High-Definition (4K) performance.

Introducing the unique BeoRemote One for personalized settings

The new BeoRemote One introduces the “MyButtons” feature which enables the user to create up to three personalized settings available at one simple touch. A setting can include channel, volume setting and even stand and directional positioning of the TV. This allows you to recall all settings by the touch of one button. Learn more about the new BeoRemote One: www.bang-olufsen.com/BeoVision.

Connection to Bang & Olufsen wireless speakers via the built in Immaculate Wireless Sound solution is as easy as turning on the television. BeoVision Avant can also incorporate an Apple TV to be hidden within the back panel.

Piolo Pascual returns to tv drama with family soap “Hawak Kamay”

ABS-CBN’s newest drama series “Hawak Kamay,” will redefine the Filipino family starting on Monday (July 21).

The kick-off of the series also marks acclaimed actor Piolo Pascual’s much-anticipated return to television drama following the success of his movie “Starting Over Again” earlier in the year. Piolo will be taking on “Hawak Kamay” along with three of the country’s most powerful child stars, Zaijan Jaranilla, Andrea Brillantes, and Xyriel Manabat. The series will also introduce Grand i-Shiner Yesha Camile, who was under the mentorship of Piolo during her stint in the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp.

Although he has done a number of television shows in the past, Piolo Pascual said he is still very excited about his upcoming family soap, “Hawak Kamay.”

Pascual said the new ABS-CBN series will focus more on the family as compared to the past projects he’s done.

“First of all, I’m working with four kids, these are child superstars. I’m also working with Iza. It’s different because it’s a family thing. Usually love triangle or love story pero ito, it’s more on the family side. Filipinos are very family-oriented so I believe na makaka-relate ang maraming pamilya. Para sa mga Pilipino talaga ito,” Pascual said.

Asked if he feels pressured for it to do well in the ratings game, Pascual quickly said, “Hindi naman mawawala ang pressure. You have to live with it.”

“I’m just thankful and I guess, what I have to focus on is the fact that I’m given work to do and it’s a blessing. I’m just giving my best and take things one day at a time,” he added.

“Hawak Kamay” will also star Piolo’s “Starting Over Again” co-star Iza Calzado, who will be joined by singer-actress Nikki Gil and “Banana Split: Extra Scoop” and “Banana Nite” mainstay Ryan Bang. The show will also feature Victor Neri, who makes a comeback through “Hawak Kamay,” with “She’s Dating the Gangster” cast member Sofia Andres, and former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Axel Torres.

This cast will be behind the story of Gin (Piolo Pascual), a failed musician who becomes the guardian of the three orphans that his dearly departed sister adopted: Emong (Zaijan Jaranilla), Dara (Xyriel Manabat), and Ningning (Yesha Camile).

Tough attorney Bianca (Iza Calzado) and her sister Lorrie (Andrea Brillantes) witness how the reluctant and unprepared Gin ends up as a potential father figure to these three kids.

Gin falters in his new role and gives up at one point. Eventually, however, he becomes fond of the kids and even accompanies them in a vacation.

As they encounter different trials, Gin gains sight of the more important things in life, and little by little, they all realize what exactly makes a family.

“Hawak Kamay” will mark the third major project of Pascual and Calzado together, after the films “Milan” (2004) and “Starting Over Again” (2014).

The primetime series will also be a reunion for Pascual and Jaranilla, who both top-billed the action-fantasy series “Noah” in 2010.

The cast of “Hawak Kamay” will be making things exciting at Fairview Terraces, the day before the show launches. Join Piolo, Iza, Zaijan, Xyriel, Andrea, and Yesha as they put on a mall show for fans on Sunday (July 20) at 4:00pm.

Catch the story of “Hawak Kamay” as it begins to unfold on Monday (July 21) after “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN. For updates, visit “Hawak Kamay’s” official website (hawakkamay.abs-cbn.com), like "Hawak Kamay" on Facebook (www.facebook.com/HawakKamayTV), and follow @HawakkamayTV on Twitter and Instagram.

Nelson Mandela International Day

(Photo: AFP/Getty Images)
Today we celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day, a global movement to honour the great man’s public service and diplomacy, a day of service celebrated on July 18, Mandela's birthday.

During his long life, Mandela inspired countless individuals. In 2009, the United Nations declared July 18th, his birthday, Nelson Mandela International Day. The day was unanimously approved in 2009 by the U.N. General Assembly. It was created to honor Mandela and inspire others to carry on his efforts to "take responsibility for making the world a better place, one small step at a time," according to a statement from the Nelson Mandela Foundation Initiative.

An Interactive Google Doodle pays tribute to Mandela who has been called both '"The World's Most Famous Political Prisoner" and "South Africa's Great Black Hope"

No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion.

People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and
enhances the freedom of others.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall.

During his time in prison, Mandela was restricted to a 2m x 2.5m cell, with nothing but a bedroll on the floor and a bucket for sanitation in it. He was consigned to hard labour and was, at first, only allowed one visitor and one letter every six months.

Nelson Mandela received honorary degrees from more than 50 international universities.

Mandela, the former president of South Africa and Nobel Peace Price recipient, died at the age of 95 on Dec. 5, 2013. This is the first time the day has been celebrated since his death.

Let us honour his memory by doing our part in making a positive change and to work towards making this world a better place.

Happy #MandelaDay

DepEd turns over school building in Batangas

Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for School Infrastructure Project Phase I, the Department of Education (DepEd) handed over an eight-classroom, two-story building with provisions for Persons with Disability at Julian D. Luna Elementary School.

“Sinigurado natin na may toilet para sa Persons with Disability. Ito ay may mas malaking ramp para magamit ng mga mag-aaral na PWD,” Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro said adding that as a learner-centered public institution, DepEd establishes child-friendly, safe, and motivating learning environments, where differently-abled learners would be able to achieve their full potential.

Luistro said that DepEd ensured that the classroom building was complete -- from electric fans to toilets -- before the turnover. PSIP involves the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of the said classrooms equipped with school furniture, fixtures, and toilets.

Classrooms built under PSIP have a design life of 25 years, as part of the Department’s technical requirements. Under the PSIP I contract, the contractor covers major maintenance such as structural assessment, termite control, and repainting of the school-building within 10 years.

Continued commitment to basic education

The Aquino administration remains committed in addressing the growing needs in basic education. Even in the "last two minutes" -- as President Benigno S. Aquino III likes to call the remaining years of his administration -- DepEd will continue to provide basic inputs to address incremental enrolment, regular wear and tear, and senior high school (SHS) requirements.

“Ang atin pong itatayo sa ating “last two minutes” ay ang senior high school,” Luistro said. He added that DepEd shall construct more classrooms in this year to prepare for the full implementation of SHS (grades 11 and 12) in 2016.

“’Dyesebel’ taught me to be stronger .." - Anne Curtis

“’Dyesebel’ taught me to be stronger and made me realize how committed I can be. We continued to work, rain or shine, because that’s how much we love what we’re doing,” said Anne Curtis.

Anne Curtis admits that all the trials she faced in ABS-CBN’s primetime fantasy series “Dyesebel” made her value her craft as an actress even more.

The “Dyesebel” star said that all the sacrifices were rewarded with the warm support of the viewers every night.

“It is a great honor to hear people call me Dyesebel. It just means the character made a mark on their hearts and minds,” she said.

Anne Curtis admits that all the trials she faced in ABS-CBN’s primetime fantasy series “Dyesebel” made her value her craft as an actress even more.

Since “Dyesebel” started airing last March, it has won over TV viewers and dominated its timeslot because of Dyesebel’s exciting journey with Fredo (Gerald), Liro (Sam), and Betty (Andi), and its focus on protecting the environment.

The “Dyesebel" series where she starred with Sam Milby, Andi Eigenmann, and Gerald Anderson, will air its finale this Friday (July 18). In the last week of the latest TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo classic, the war between humans and mermaids will reach its climax as Dyesebel fights for her kingdom against Dyangga (Eula Valdez).

How will Dyesebel protect the world she is destined to reign now that she is married to Fredo? Will their love unite and promote peace between mermaids and human beings?

The powerhouse cast of “Dyesebel” is completed by Dawn Zulueta, Gabby Concepcion, ZsaZsa Padilla, Gina Pareño, and AiAi delas Alas. It is directed by Don Cuaresma and Francis Pasion, and is under the production of Dreamscape Entertainment Television.

State-of-the-Art Technology: Philips G-line 144Hz Gaming Display

Welcome to a new age of gaming monitors. Smart and savvy gaming with the new monitor display.

MMD, a leading display technology company and brand licensing partner of Philips Monitors, is proud to introduce the Philips G-line 144Hz Gaming Display – a monitor display that gives gamers everywhere the edge to surpass the competition.

The Philips G-line 144Hz Gaming Display is designed for dominance in three main areas: smooth visual function, comprehensive customization options and extensive connectivity.

When it comes to graphics and performance specifications, the computer gaming market is without doubt one of the most demanding. Small variations in specifications can lead to differences in performance that are enough to draw the line between victory and defeat when playing at a high level.

The Philips 144Hz Gaming Display provides a range of enhancements and features designed to give gamers a more immersive experience and provide a convincing advantage over the opposition.

This state-of-the-art technology shows how the advanced Philips gaming display redraws the screen upto 144 times per second for ultra smooth, brilliant images. SmartFrame helps you highlight specific screen area. Special gaming pre-sets and remote Smart Keypad keeps you in control.

Main features :

- 144Hz screen refresh rate, ensuring ultra-smooth visuals that capture every little detail by redrawing the screen up to 144 times per second, effectively 2.4 times faster than standard displays.

- Pre-set FPS, RTS and Racing settings then allow users to customize their experience in ways that are specifically suited to different types of game.

- Smart Frame boosts the gain level of RGB in a selected area where users may expect enemies to appear in-game

- Most suitable for both FPS and RTS games.

For those who wish to practise their gaming skills on different size screens, the Smart Size function adjusts the display size and aspect ratio to simulate 10 common monitor sizes down to 17”, ensuring perfect preparation for competition venues.

Different game scenarios may require different display configurations for optimal performance. The specially designed Remote Smart Keypad is a separate remote controller that enables users to instantly switch between two personalized gaming pre-sets and navigate the full on-screen settings menu.
Immersive gaming experience at your fingertips

Watching digital content or playing games on a smartphone is seldom as immersive as a full computer or TV experience, confined by limited battery life and the significantly smaller screen. Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) solves this problem by conveniently allowing users to connect compatible smartphones or other mobile electronic devices to the monitor for a more rewarding experience. The MHL connection also charges the device during use, enabling unlimited entertainment without requiring a separate charger.

A range of connectivity options are provided thanks to Philips Smart Connect, including Dual Link DVI, DisplayPort and universal HDMI, enabling enjoyment of all digital sources, with high-resolution uncompressed video and audio content.

The Philips 144Hz Gaming Display also provides a convenient 4-port USB 3.0 hub, supporting faster data transfers and superior smartphone charging. USB 3.0 features a range of impressive advantages over USB 2.0, with synchronous data transmission and a full duplex interface for significantly improved speed, and nearly double the power supply. With a data rate of 5Gbps, USB 3.0 is able to perform 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

Brilliant Performance and Design

SmartImageGAME settings fine-tune response time, contrast, colour saturation and more, to optimize the display for different game genres. Smart Response ensures image quality is always at its best with 1ms refresh for smoother and faster gaming.

As is the norm with Philips monitors, design is simple and unobtrusive, with subtle stylish elements that suit it to any home decor. The monitor features a red metallic trim strip and gunmetal matte black base plate. The Smart Keypad design, inspired by the curvature of the stand, presents an edgy look and feel.

Availability

The Philips G-line 144Hz Gaming Display 242G5DJEB comes in 24” screen size and will be available in the Asia Pacific region.

Healthway Medical, PMAP celebrate National Wellness Day

Healthway Medical, the country’s trusted and most preferred network of mall-based clinics, celebrated National Wellness Day on June 20, 2014, together with the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
In photo are (L-R): April Faraon, Healthway Medical Physical Therapy head; Maharlica Naco, Healthway Medical assistant manager for Health and Safety; Mitch Guce, trustee for Fellowship and Wellness, PMAP; and Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical vice president for Sales and Marketing.

Healthway Medical joined PMAP in the movement to create a fit and healthy working environment for employees through a day that walked and talked everything about wellness. With a program that consisted of a learning session on work-life balance, followed by a workout Zumba session, Healthway stressed the importance of holistic wellness.

“Healthway Medical has always been an advocate of wellness,” says Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical vice president for Sales and Marketing.

“Today’s exercises will help our employees stay healthy and productive in and out of the workplace,” she adds.

Healthway Medical’s National Wellness Day celebration started with a short lecture from Physical Therapy Head, April Faraon, on Workplace Ergonomics. The talk emphasized the need to be healthy and active as well as shared different exercises employees can do even in the workplace.

The session also included a demonstration of PMAP’s 7-minute Wellness Moment, which involves stretching or self-massage, followed by prayer or meditation, dancing, jogging, or jumping in place, and clapping, laughing, and sharing handshakes with colleagues.

PMAP encouraged both member and nonmember companies to create a video of their employees doing the exercise simultaneously on June 21 at exactly 3 pm to create a worldwide wellness movement.

After the learning session, the participants joined in on a thrilling Zumba dance class, which Healthway Medical employees have been doing three times a week to show their consistent efforts in promoting health and wellness.

For the past 10 years, Healthway Medical has been working with PMAP to actively improve workplace wellness through career development forums and training programs.

“Healthway Medical has always been in the frontier of promoting health and wellness in the workplace,” says Mitch Guce, PMAP’s trustee for Fellowship and Wellness. “They have always been an avid supporter of the health and wellness programs of PMAP.”

This partnership between Healthway Medical and PMAP aims to encourage more individuals to not only celebrate National Wellness Day every third Friday of June but also to empower them to take health and wellness principles and apply them in their homes and workplaces.

Zsa Zsa Padilla shares her past experiences to the talented kids of Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 3

Zsa Zsa Padilla is a veteran actress, TV host, singer, and a true Philippine icon with more than 30 years of experience, but she has a new title to add under her belt - Singing mentor for Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 3.

The divine diva, shares her past experiences to talented kids of the present for an exceptional future.

Zsa Zsa, who was recently unveiled as one of the top caliber mentors of the show, will be taking on the responsibility of mentoring this year’s batch of talented preschoolers. Together with a panel of esteemed mentors: choreographer and G-Force director, Georcelle Dapat-Sy, and world-class television and film actress, Angel Locsin, Zsa Zsa will be guiding chosen preschoolers through singing workshops.

For 25 years, Promil Pre-School has been well known for talent development, raising awareness for parental participation, proper guidance and good nutrition as factors that play major roles in bringing preschoolers to their full potential. The Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp is one of Promil Pre-school’s advocacies, in which the talents of Filipino children nationwide are engaged. “It’s exciting to be part of something that recognizes and appreciates talent at a young age.” Zsa Zsa shares that the show is something that brings back memories of how she started as an artist.

Nurturing talent in your formative years

The divine diva today can automatically command the attention of any room she enters, but the singer reveals that it wasn’t always like that. She started out as a shy child who only got to sing in front of her family. “I grew up in a compound where we all lived close to each other,” she recalls. “When my uncles would get together in the late afternoons, they’d get the guitar and they’d ask me to sing.”

Zsa Zsa, together with her cousin whom she grew up with, Gino Padilla, learned to harness their skills while doing duets to entertain their uncles. “I always knew that I love singing. Even as a child, when I’d hear a song on the radio, I would sing it immediately. I had fast recall and my family noticed that about me,” she says. “They would ask me to learn a piece, and then I’d perform it for them. I was the entertainment. Ganun ako nahasa (That’s how I was trained)."

While she knew she had the talent, it was her family that allowed her to gain her confidence in front of a crowd. “Singing for my uncles, that’s really my first memory of my musical background. Allowing me to sing for them was their way of nurturing my talent.”

Through Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp, Zsa Zsa hopes to develop the raw talent of the chosen preschoolers. “These kids are curious and eager to learn, but you need to guide them while they’re still young and sensitive to change. You need to show them that they’re capable, because they’ll really take that with them as they grow up and develop their talents.”

It’s not always in the genes, but also in the environment

Though Zsa Zsa’s parents weren’t musical people, she was able to master her craft because of her exposure to music through her family. While both her daughters, Karylle and Zia, are musically inclined, she credits not just the genes, but also their environment growing up. “Karylle was exposed to the entertainment industry at a young age. During that time, she was much more interested in ballet, but she’d see me host for a popular show and she’d just take it all in. We knew she could sing, and eventually because of all the exposure to it, singing just became second nature for her.”

This is why Zsa Zsa believes that getting kids on shows like the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Camp will give them the right exposure so they can dream big early, and learn how to pursue these dreams early. “These kids are lucky because there’s a program available like the i-Shine Talent Camp. At a young age, they’ll already be exposed to the music industry, which will really help them develop to be artists,” she shares. “Promil Pre-School has provided a venue for kids that love singing, dancing, and acting to really work at their craft.”

Proper motivation to reach their full potential

Having Zsa Zsa on board is going to be a treat for the Promil Preschool i-Shine finalists, because this means they are going to be the first who will get valuable training and mentoring from a pillar in the country’s musical industry.

It will be a personal challenge for the Zsa Zsa to be firm and honest, but still encouraging with the way she guides the preschoolers. “They're very young and sensitive. They would take everything you say to heart,” she says. The first-time singing mentor plans to add a mother’s touch to her mentoring style. “It’s important to boost their confidence, but still making sure that they properly learn the craft,” she adds.

Zsa Zsa, despite the success she’s earned with the music world, also wants to share her hardships with her mentees.

“These kids really come from all types of backgrounds. I also want them to learn that getting to your dreams entails battling the odds and persistence through hardship,” she says.

“The kids are eager to learn about the industry, and it will be my responsibility to show them the ropes, to share with them as much as I know, including the challenges that come with it.”

While the competition might be tough, Zsa Zsa is confident that with proper guidance and nutrition, the newest batch of i-Shiners will all prove to be stars.

Catch Zsa Zsa and the rest of the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 3 mentors, Georcelle Dapat-Sy and Angel Locsin, on ABS-CBN.

Hosted by Dimples Romana, Matteo Guidicelli, and Xian Lim, the Promil Pre-School i-Shine Talent Camp 3 is giving away over Php 1 million worth of prizes and a contract form ABS-CBN and Promil Pre-School to the grand winner.
