All- new MacGyver only on AXN, premieres September 29

Philippines (September, 2016) – AXN has one ‘Gy’ to save the world this September with MacGyver, a dynamic re-imagining of the iconic hit television series that was hugely popular in the eighties.

Set to premiere September 29, first and exclusively on AXN, this modern-day take is an action-adventure drama that features Angus “Mac” MacGyver who forms a clandestine organization within the U.S. government. Here MacGyver utilizes his extraordinary talent making inventive use of ordinary objects in a matter of minutes to decipher seemingly unsolvable problems.

The action-packed series follows the unconventional exploits of our young hardware hero as he undertakes high-risk missions to save lives around the globe. Highly resourceful and with vast scientific knowledge, MacGyver narrowly escapes life-and-death situations armed with a little more than common items, like a paper clip, duct tape, and his trusty Swiss Army knife. Joining him is the maverick former CIA agent Jack Dalton.

Lucas Till (Havok in the X-Men movie series) stars as MacGyver while CSI veteran George Eads plays Jack Dalton. Peter Lenkov (Hawaii Five-0, CSI:NY), Golden Globe Award winner Henry Winkler (Happy Days), Lee Zlotoff (MacGyver), James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring) serve as executive producers for the series.

Expect lots of thrills in the premiere episode directed by James Wan of The Conjuring and Insidious fame as MacGyver puts his troubleshooting skills to the test and cleverly implements unorthodox methods to hurdle over complex problems and eventually become triumphant in the end.

MacGyver premieres same week as the U.S. on September 29, every Thursday at 9:45 pm.

First & Exclusive on AXN

AXN is seen on Cable Link Channel 38, Cignal Digital TV Channel 61, Global Destiny Cable Channel 61, Dream Channel 20, GSat Channel 51, and SKYCable Channel 49.

What do One Direction, Little Mix, and 4th Impact have in common?

Before One Direction became a sensation, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson were solo acts who dreamt of stardom. The five then-aspiring singers auditioned at The X Factor UK’s seventh season, but while not all of them got three yeses, everyone managed to make it to second round.

At the end of the bootcamp stage, none of them qualified for the Boys category. Still, the judges saw the talent in the five aspirants and gave them the chance to compete as a group.

With Simon Cowell as their mentor, the five had to prove themselves worthy of advancing in the competition. But earlier on the day of the Judge’s House stage, Tomlinson suffered from a sea urchin sting. Nervous and with Tomlinson just making it in time from the hospital, the band covered the song “Torn” at Cowell’s home in Marbella, Spain. It was at this moment that The X Factor judge saw their potential as artists.

“My head, it’s saying it’s a risk and my heart it’s saying that you deserve a shot,” Simon said as he was giving his verdict. “I’ve gone with my heart. You’re through.”

One Direction, as the boys came to be known, finished third at The X Factor UK. But despite not winning the top prize, the group still has one of most inspiring stories at the talent contest.

Many other artists like 1D did not win The X Factor UK. And yet, they found themselves on a life-changing journey as they strove for success.

Here are other extraordinary artists who started out at The X-Factor UK:

Little Mix

Long before the hit single “Secret Love Song” gave everyone an earworm, the girl group Little Mix competed at The X-Factor UK and won—the only group to ever win the competition so far. Like One Direction, the group’s members started out as solo acts.

On their first public performance, the girls did a rendition of “Super Bass,” which was praised by The X Factor judge Louis Walsh for its “brilliant chemistry.” For that performance, fellow judge Gary Barlow described the group as the “best girl band that’s ever been on The X Factor.”

Leona Lewis

After her beautiful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at her audition, 21-year old receptionist Leona Lewis was described by Walsh as having “the complete package.” In one of her bootcamp performances, her would-be mentor Cowell said that Lewis is of a “totally different league.” She eventually won The X Factor UK’s third season.

Among her most memorable hits are “Bleeding Love” and “Better in Time” from the album Spirit.

4th Impact

Sisters Almira, Celina, Irene, and Mylene Cercado from the Philippines already joined and won several contests in the Philippines before auditioning for The X Factor UK. Their rendition of Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” earned them a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges.

The group’s would-be mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini told the girls that they “took the Wembley’s roof off,” while Cowell thought their audition was one of the best he had ever seen. Their audition went viral after it aired. Though 4thImpact did not make it to the finals, it was a dream come true for the sisters who’ve always wanted to perform for Cowell.

Catch The X Factor UK’s brand new season premiere on August 28, 10:30AM first and exclusive at RTL CBS Entertainment HD.

He shared to us his experiences with full of praises for the Philippines - the beauty of the nature, the beaches, the environment, the food, the culture and the friendly, happy and “smiley” Filipinos he meet in his adventure.

Why #BecomingFilipino?

Kyle is not a filipino by blood.  He’s a Canadian. At first, Kyle’s mission is to become a Filipino. How and Why?

"I love Canada. I grew up in Canada. I am so freaking proud of where I am from. I love the Philippines and would be honored to be able to call myself “part Filipino.”

Experiencing and seeing the beauty of the Philippines and witnessed  its culture that has inspired so much happiness in my life! I think of the friendly people, culture and amazing adventure means 'Happiness" "Kaligayahan" "Kalipay."

"I just want to share it and inspire the world to come and experience the Philippines," Kyle said.

Many people follow his journeys and visual storytelling, via social media through #BecomingFilipino.

“I have never experienced before what I got to experience in the Philippines. I have never met such kind, giving, friendly, hard-working, outgoing, proud and happy people. I have never experienced a culture like the Philippines; a culture that every single day inspires me, and that I look up to. It is a place where the natural environment is unbelievably beautiful. The waterfalls, beaches, mountains, rivers.... I could go on and on about it. But what really inspires me about the Philippines is the PEOPLE. If you are Filipino and you are reading this. Thank You. Thank you for being Filipino. Thank you for being part of a culture where family isn’t the only family, but friends and even strangers are family. Where smiling is genuine, giving is natural and sharing is a part of everyday life. A culture that goes through a lot of really tough times and suffering, but still shares a great big SMILE.”
