Petron delivers most advanced fuel to PH market, blazed 100 Euro 6

Market leader Petron Corporation now has the cleanest and most advanced gasoline in the Philippine market that even surpasses Euro 6 standards, the most stringent fuel technology and emission benchmark in the world today.

Petron’s Blaze 100 Euro 6 was rigorously tested and certified by leading global laboratories and engine rating experts namely SGS, Millbrook Proving Ground in the United Kingdom, and ISP The Testing Institute in Germany.

Due to its pure formulation and very high octane, Blaze 100 Euro 6 gives motorists’ six advantages and benefits:

-  Improved fuel efficiency;
- Powerful engine performance and acceleration;
- Guaranteed cleaner engines on just one full tank;
- Improved combustion with its unique fuel and additive formulation;
- Significantly reduced harmful emissions;
- Reduced maintenance costs (e.g. Longer catalyst life for emission system)

Tests showed Blaze 100 Euro 6 contains less than 3 ppm (parts per million) sulfur, compared to the Euro 6 standard of 10 ppm maximum. Euro 4 fuels, which is the mandated standard in the country, contains up to 50 ppm. Blaze 100 Euro 6 is available in nearly 300 Petron service stations nationwide.

The Euro 6 standard is the most stringent global emission standard. To qualify, fuel should have significantly reduced particle numbers, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons in vehicle emissions. Particle number (PN) is the additional criterion that separates Euro 5 and Euro 6 fuel standards. Blaze 100 Euro 6 passed the PN tests with flying colors as it was three times cleaner than the limit.
“We are proud that Blaze 100 Euro 6 meets the world’s best environmental and fuel technology standards. With the highest octane rating but the lowest sulfur content, it is the best gasoline in the market by far in terms of power, efficiency, engine protection, and reduced emissions,” Petron President & CEO Ramon S. Ang said.

Samples of Blaze 100 Euro 6 were taken from Petron’s Bataan refinery and randomly from its stations by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company. The samples were then sent to SGS laboratories in the United Kingdom, Singapore and the Philippines. All samples tested met specifications (EN 228:2012) for Euro 6-technology vehicles.

Petron also sent samples of this innovative product to ISP The Testing Institute – a leading engine and vehicle testing laboratory for fuels and lubricants development. ISP conducted a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) test with Blaze 100 Euro 6 and found it did not cause carbon deposits in GDI engines. GDI is a more advanced engine technology that addresses fuel economy and emissions. It is being used in newer European, American, and Asian car models.

Millbrook Proving Ground, which provides validation and engineering services in the automotive, transport, and defense industries, also tested Blaze 100 Euro 6. It conducted an Intake Valve Deposit (IVD) test and found Blaze 100 Euro 6 cleaned over 70% of engine deposits in 60 hours. Millbrook UK said Blaze 100 Euro 6 passed the “Euro 6b” emission standard – the strictest emission standard in the world. IVD tests apply to Port Fuel Injection engines which are widely used the Philippines.

“Since our fuels are locally-produced and formulated in our refinery, we can guarantee the quality and consistency of Petron fuels,” Mr. Ang added.

“We will continue to innovate and lead in fuels technology so we can put more savings in our customers’ pockets while improving air quality across the nation,” he concluded.

First Go Lokal! store in Robinsons Place Manila

Quality Filipino products from outstanding micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs from various parts of the country are now in Metro Manila through the Go Lokal! stores.

Robinsons Department Store, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opens today the first Go Lokal! store in Robinsons Place Manila.

Robinsons Department Store, an affiliate of Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc., is the first mainstream outlet to launch Go Lokal!, a public-private collaboration between DTI and local retailer partners that aims to showcase modern and indigenous quality products crafted, designed, and created by innovative Philippine micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The Go Lokal! program has been designed to serve as incubation, marketing, and branding platform for the best of Philippine MSMEs products including next generation One Town One Product (OTOP) offerings. This new market access platform via a design-led concept store is set to revolutionize the way hard-to-find and artisanal Filipino products are sold in the local market, and will bring together a specially-curated line-up that ranges from food, apparel, accessories, home décor, gadgets and gift items.

They can be found in consumer-frequented locations as a mainstream distribution channel for world-class Filipino products while offering value for money for targeted consumers and tourists.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said DTI is more than excited to open its first mainstream Go Lokal! store with Robinsons Department Store as its dynamic partner in this effort of maximizing market access and providing exposure to our MSMEs.
“Go Lokal! is truly a vibrant model for MSME development and inclusive business. We are happy that committed partners like Robinsons have taken on this challenge. We look forward to opening more outlets in their malls and department stores across the country,” Sec. Lopez said.

Robina Gokongwei-Pe, President and COO of Robinsons Department Store, said that the program will benefit MSMEs because it’s a mainstream platform that brings them closer to a more diverse market and creates positive effects to the economy by encouraging entrepreneurship. “This partnership with DTI is Robinsons Department Store’s contribution to nation-building by providing our entrepreneurs an environment where they can be passionate about their businesses and prosper from their efforts, as we create opportunities for MSMEs to grow, succeed and make an impact to the retail industry,” said Gokongwei-Pe.

Johnson Go, General Manager of Robinsons Department Store, said that Go Lokal! is Robinsons Department Store’s way of supporting Filipino entrepreneurs into their initial foray into more mainstream markets by making them more accessible to both local and foreign consumers. “The diverse product line of Go Lokal! brings together the best products that the Philippines has to offer which are world-class locally-made quality products by our MSMEs,” said Go.

The DTI Secretary also said that aside from providing market access for MSME products, the Go Lokal! program is a platform for new entrepreneurs to test the marketability of their products without the fear of losing rental and commercial costs because their experience is free of charge.

Portion of Go Lokal! revenues will go to the various corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects of Robinsons Department Store including the government’s drug rehabilitation program.

Go Green in the City 2017 pushes for women empowerment

Schneider Electric celebrates diversity and gender equality in the latest edition of the GGitC

Schneider Electric officially launched 2017’s Go Green in the City, at the Ascott Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The global competition aims to inspire business and engineering students to develop their minds for green and sustainable projects. For this year’s competition, Schneider Electric made a specific move to improve diversity, calling for all-female groups to join and have the chance at winning the Women in Business Award.

Schneider Electric’s Go Green in the City (GGitC) is an annual global competition that started in 2011. It is a global business case challenge that hopes to discover intelligent energy management ideas that will help in creating its vision of sustainable smarter cities. Through this competition, Schneider Electric grants students an opportunity to practice what they are learning in their classrooms and even contribute to the development of a better, safer, and more efficient future. GGitC pushes the envelope this year and works harder to promote diversity among its ranks and in the business and engineering industries by calling out to all-female groups to participate.

The 2017 edition of GGitC presents a new award called the Women in Business Award which will be given to an all-female group that qualifies in the top 100 semi-finalists of the competition. The recipients of this award will have the opportunity to win the top prize by being one of the Top 12 finalists in the global leg. They will also receive social media exposure, a chance to be guided and coached by Schneider Electric representatives, and $500 for each member of the team.

The Philippines has always been a strong contender of the competition. In the last four years, we’ve placed consistently in the top ranks along with China, Germany, and India. In 2013, two Filipino students took home the grand prize in the global championship held in Paris, France. Qualifying for the second time in the global leg, Filipino students secured the second runner-up spot in 2015. For 2014 and 2016, the Philippines took home the second and first runner-up in the regional leg of the competition, respectively.

“With the Philippines’ consistent performance in the previous competitions, we are confident that Filipino students can once again bring honor to our country because of their drive and passion for producing sustainable green projects. The impact of climate change to our developing country plays a part in shaping these students to become great contributors not only to Schneider Electric, but to the future,” shared Schneider Electric Human Resources Country Head for the Philippines Tes Portillo.

“Go Green in the City is Schneider Electric’s way of showcasing the creativity and curiosity of today’s young talents and using their projects as steps forward into achieving our goal of having greener and smarter cities all over the world,” shared Schneider Electric Philippines Country Manager for Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding Rochelle Bulan. “For 2017, we are leveling up the challenge by enticing all-female groups to prove and empower women that they, too, are capable of becoming successful in the male-dominated fields of business and engineering.”

The deadline for submission of entries is on May 12, 2017. The top three country finalists will be announced on June 9, 2017 and will be representing their home countries in the regional leg of the competition. Announcement of the regional semi-finalists will be on July 11, 2017 and the grand winner of each region -- North America, South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Indian Subcontinent, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, Greater China, and Asia Pacific -- will be competing in the global leg.

The Top 12 finalists, composed of 8 regional winners, 3 wildcard finalists, and the all-female group, will be announced on August 7, 2017 and will be flying to Paris, France for the grand finals and awarding ceremony on October 9 to 13, 2017.
