Just Beyond The Sunset, Lies A Home For Me

I enjoy waiting and looking at the sunset, until watching the Roxas Boulevard's night time while having my time at the deck of the room at Grand Riviera Suites.

Something about sunrise and sunsets, it fascinates me. I love one poem speaks of hope and faith that keeps us going.

Just Beyond The Sunset

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny
Where the purple mountains
Lie in deep tranquillity
There I’ll find the treasure
Of love eternally

Just beyond the sunset
Waits someone so fair
Just beyond the sunset
All alone they wait there
Their hair is golden
The colour of the sand
Their eyes sparkle in the night
Like diamonds in your hand

Just beyond the sunset
Lies a home for me
Where the world is peaceful
Like a paradise should be
Just beyond the sunset
Someday is where you’ll find me

Eco-Ethical Elegance Takes Centerstage at RIIR by ARANAZ Holiday Collection 2012 Launch

Style icons and fashion enthusiasts converged at the North Court of Rockwell Center’s Power Plant Mall in Makati City for the Rags2Riches (RIIR) by ARANAZ Holiday Collection 2012.
Entitled “Nudos,” the Spanish translation for “knots,” the second collaboration of RIIR and ARANAZ exudes boldness and enduring elegance. Created by one of the most respected and in-demand homegrown designers today, Amina Aranaz-Alunan has raised the fashion ante by making eco-ethical style an in-trend fashion statement.

The Nudos collection is handwoven by our Rags2Riches Cooperative in Payatas and assembled by our in-house workshop.   All knots for this collection, which are new artisan techniques introduced by Amina specifically for these bags and accessories, were handmade in our in-house workshop by our highly skilled, full-time artisans.   Our hope is that with the success of this collection, these beautiful fashion accessories and new artisan skills can be extended to all Rags2Riches communities, said Reese Fernandez, president for Rags2Riches.

RIIR artisans are known for their weaving skills primarily using upcycled scrap fabric. The versatility of the fabric lends itself nicely to different textures and techniques. For the RIIR by ARANAZ collection, designer Amina Aranaz-Alunan was inspired to play around with various kinds of knots, a new technique which introduced a different texture to the stylish pieces.

“I had a book about making knots and decided to play around with the scrap fabrics,” shared Alunan.

RIIR’s collections have captured the attention of the fashion world since it launched eco-ethical style in the Philippines in 2007. It has gained a steady following among fashion cliques in Manila, Asia and Europe, with illustrious personalities being seen donning an ensemble with an RIIR piece.

RIIR and ARANAZ sets the trend for bags and accessories
A visually stimulating art installation was the backdrop for the latest line of must-have bags and accessories from RIIR and ARANAZ. Guests also marveled at the haute couture gowns provided by Tina Daniac, while music by internationally- acclaimed violinist Coke Bolipata and pianist Jourdann Petalver created the ambient mood during the exclusive black and gold affair.

Noteworthy about the RIIR and ARANAZ holiday collaboration are the sumptuous colors and intricate weaving techniques that were highlighted in all the accessories. The adherence to eco-ethical style makes every RIIR accessory one-of-a-kind. Stand-out pieces in the RIIR by ARANAZ Nudos line include the “Amara,” a braided clutch with wooden frame accent, removable antique chain strap and magnetic closure;

Lazada,” a molded clutch in abaca with braided trim detail and knotted cotton flap with magnetic closure; “Sobre,” an envelope clutch in x-small basket weave, jute flap and knotted braided accent with interior pocket; and “Cartera,” a purse in knitted cotton x-small basket weave, knotted ball puller and cotton lining with interior pocket. “Pulsera,” a cuff bracelet with knotted braid accent and vachetta leather with golden snap closure, simply commands attention.
Lazo,” a necklace with three cotton knot pendants, braided cotton strap with braided string, antique chain and suede string accents, is reminiscent of vintage sophistication. “Cuello,” a knotted cotton braid choker with braided string, antique chain and suede string strap, transcends the unique balance of restraint and innovation.

“RIIR by Aranaz Nudos Holiday Collection is an audacious attempt to bring fashion forward. Each stylish piece is unique and exquisite. It speaks to the chic, independent, elegant and empowered women of today who embody the eco-ethical lifestyle,” said Fernandez.
RIIR by ARANAZ Nudos Holiday Collection was presented by RCBC Diamond MasterCard, Visual Mannequin Solution (VMS) and Power Plant Mall.

CCTV Patrol : Why Concerned Citizens Taking Videos Are Sending Them To “TV PATROL”

Citizens can send in their videos.  “TV Patrol” is empowering and engaging ordinary citizens in determining the day’s headlines via its segment ‘CCTV Patrol’ or Concerned Citizens Taking Videos Patrol, an initiative that capitalizes on people’s ability to gather news content and information due to their access to social media and technology.

Kabayan Noli De Castro talks to bloggers via Skype at the CCTV Patrol bloggers' conference

‘CCTV Patrol’ features photos and videos about anything significant, remarkable, or bizarre in their communities captured using mounted closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, cellphones, and other gadgets and sent in by them.
“TV Patrol” anchor ‘Kabayan’ Noli De Castro said a huge chunk of the videos they receive and report in the newscast depict crimes that need police intervention. The team of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs reporters will also see to it that each criminal incident aired in the segment will be probed and monitored until the perpetrators face justice.

“What’s important is the media and citizens can take part, and not simply complain about the crime situation in the country. This time, we aid the police authorities in solving crimes by being vigilant and alert,” said Kabayan.

To date, ordinary people's contributions to "CCTV Patrol" have led to some of the biggest stories that hit the headlines and revolutionized broadcast journalism in terms of reaching audiences and giving them the opportunity to influence and contribute to the news cycle.
CCTV PATROL report
One of the most notable videos shown in ‘CCTV Patrol’ was the robbery of alleged fugitives in a 7-Eleven convenience store in Manila and a LBC outlet in Parañaque. After the airing of Zyann Ambrosio’s report in September, the police had received numerous text messages detailing information about the suspects, which ‘TV Patrol” announced through a follow-up report.

A CCTV footage of several men kicking and pointing a gun at a man inside his own home also went viral online after it was aired on ‘CCTV Patrol’ in August. Netizens heavily discussed the video and slammed authorities for their supposed inaction on the incident that occurred in April. Following the ‘CCTV Patrol’ report, the police had immediately identified the suspects to be members of the notorious ‘akyat-bahay gang’ and were later captured.

The police have also launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the shooting and robbery of an ABS-CBN account executive and his companion in Mandaluyong based on a ‘CCTV Patrol’ report of a footage of the surveillance camera footage set up at the site of the incident.

Due to the success of the segment, Kabayan stressed the importance of the continued involvement of Bayan Patrollers and citizens to uncovering newsworthy events Filipinos need to know.
“I encourage everyone to make good use of their cellphones and gadgets instead of recording trivial videos and forwarding gossip. This is a big help. The police no longer have excuses in not being able to arrest criminals identified in a footage,” he said.
Aside from airing videos that show the stealing of a motorcycle, side mirrors of a vehicle, sacks of rice, medical supplies, and cellphones, ‘CCTV Patrol’ has also broadcast footages of gruesome crimes such as the slaying of a DENR official in Isabela and the brutal killing of a doctor in Bacolod by two young men. Several CCTV reports have also been used as proof in police investigations involving the kidnapping of infants in a hospital and a grocery store.
Also serving as warning to commuters was a video filmed by a Bayan Patroller using his cellphone showing a man scouring the bag of a sleeping passenger. The said deed was described by police authorities as a method employed by a certain ‘eskoba gang’ in air-conditioned buses.
The ‘CCTV Patrol’ segment not only showcases videos of crime but also of accidents including the collision of a bus and a van in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, a CCTV footage of a car smashing a van parked along a street, and the rescue the driver who was stuck in a van after a rollover.
