Celine Dion’s landmark album ‘Falling Into You’ turns 25

Celine Dion celebrates the 25th-anniversary release of her monumental album ‘Falling Into You’ this month. This became the biggest-selling album of 1996 worldwide and sold over 30 million copies, plus winning two Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.

The album’s opening track ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now’ is often seen as emblematic of Celine’s musical style and quickly became a fan favorite and a centerpiece of her concert repertoire. Other showstopper tracks on the album include Celine’s own take on ‘All By Myself’ by Eric Carmen and ‘River Deep Mountain High’ a song created by Phil Spector for Tina Turner, the album title track ‘Falling Into You,’ plus the classic ‘Because You Loved Me’ film theme to ‘Up Close and Personal’ - to name a few.

On ‘Falling Into You,’ Celine worked with the biggest producers of the time including David Foster, Jim Steinman, Humberto Gatica and Ric Wake. The album reached No.1 in eleven countries, 7 x Platinum in the UK, 11 x Platinum in the US and multi-platinum in many other countries, including the Philippines.

Celine will be touring the UK in May/June 2022.

MAPFRE and Philippine Red Cross partner to provide Filipinos with world-class care and insurance during the new normal

MANILA, PHILIPPINES -- MAPFRE and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) have recently launched a strategic partnership, promising to provide Filipinos with world-class care and insurance amidst the challenges of unprecedented times. The partnership leverages on MAPFRE’s years of experience in providing a wide range of insurance solutions (car insurance, home insurance, accident insurance, and much more) and PRC’s expertise in delivering healthcare services to the Filipino people. Sharing the same advocacy of enabling nation-building, MAPFRE and PRC aim to provide more quality services to protect Filipinos everywhere.

MAPFRE Insurance and The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) launched their partnership product – The Prestige Membership Card, on March 3, 2021 at the PRC Headquarters in Ortigas City, Manila. The event was attended by select media partners and PRC Chapters. From L-R: Vanessa Lee Calixto, PRC Director for Fund Generation & Business Development; Pamela Joy Co, MAPFRE Philippines VP & Head of Corporate Global Unit; Elizabeth Savalla, PRC Secretary General; Senator Richard Gordon, PRC Chairman, Tirso Abad, MAPFRE Philippines President and CEO; Lorenzo Luis Liborio Gallardo II, Insular Life Head of Corporate Division; Nino Dau, MAPFRE Philippines, Business Line Unit Head for Miscellaneous Products.

The COVID-19 pandemic has increasingly upended even the most basic aspects of everyday life, making the MAPFRE-PRC partnership timely. In the Philippines, there are only an estimated six doctors for every 10,000 people -- a problem that has only become exasperated as the pandemic strains the nation’s healthcare system. The increased burden on the national healthcare system has left fewer resources for Filipinos seeking medical help in general, heightening the need for additional accessible and affordable healthcare services.

The partnership is indeed timely as it specifically introduces the PRC Prestige Membership Card, a new addition to PRC’s roster of membership cards which is a form of donation. This is the only card that gives its members both life and non-life insurance coverage; with the life insurance also covering death due to COVID. PRC Prestige Membership also offers benefits including:

·        Priority assistance on blood requests

·        Priority access to ambulance services

·        !0% Discount on Safety Training

·        Accidental Death and Disablement Cover worth PhP200,000

·        Unprovoked Murder and Assault Cover worth PhP200,000

·        Term life coverage worth PhP 200,000

·        Fire cash assistance worth PhP 20,000

These benefits cover emergencies, sicknesses, disasters, and even death subject to insurance cover terms and conditions. Insurance cover for non-life benefits is automatic upon purchase while life insurance cover must be activated via a microsite (www.helpandprotect.com.ph/prc/).

During the launch on March 3, 2021, which was held at PRC Headquarters in Ortigas and attended by select media partners and PRC Chapters, PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard Gordon hailed the partnership as a crucial step in extending essential services to the most vulnerable Filipinos. “More than just allowing MAPFRE to extend their reach, the partnership also lets the PRC fulfill its mission of helping those who need it the most.” Additionally, the partnership is emphasized as a good way for availing corporations and individuals to further their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This will also strengthen PRC as an organization, providing Filipinos with an additional safety net for their health and security.

“This partnership is very timely as the COVID-19 situation stressed the importance of prioritizing one’s health. By collaborating with the Philippine Red Cross, we are able to reach and provide protection to more Filipinos through the non-life and life coverages from MAPFRE and Insular Life,” shared Tirso Abad, President and CEO of MAPFRE Insurance Corporation.

Together, MAPFRE and the PRC urge every Filipino to support the move towards a better and healthier Philippines. Though the partnership is just one step in the journey, it is a necessary one nonetheless.

Six tips to help female leaders achieve their goals

As more and more women take top leadership roles, it becomes even more apparent that they are just as capable of being strong commanders in politics, business, health, and beyond.
Women are capable of being strong commanders
in politics, business, health, and beyond.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance providers, offers goal-setting tips for female leaders who want to achieve more for themselves and for the people around them:

Write your goals down.
Using a visual tool, such as writing, makes goals more tangible and gives you a clearer picture of what you want to achieve, be it in life or at work. When you write down your goals, not only do you become emotionally engaged, but you are also able to set deadlines and actionable steps on what needs to be done to achieve them.

Say no to fear
For many years, most women lived in fear of being judged and talked down to, thus preventing them from reaching their full potential. Break down these barriers by focusing on yourself: practice positive self-talk, never be afraid to ask for help or a second opinion when you’re doubting yourself, and don’t be concerned about what other people might think.

Turn weaknesses into strengths.
Society has ingrained in women that their capabilities are limited. Use this as motivation to turn weaknesses as opportunities for self-growth. If a project you’re working on didn’t work the first time, consider another approach until you reach your goal. If you hit a roadblock, think through the problem. Just don’t give up and walk away.

Delegate and utilize people’s talents.
Working closely with a team helps you know their strengths and skills and gain different perspectives. Their talent is a strategic asset, so keep them involved and encourage them to pursue creative ways to utilize their skills to achieve your shared goals.

Invest in yourself.
It’s natural for women to wear many hats. Even with so much on their plate, they are flexible, agile, and able to take on many challenges. As a female leader, you’re more than capable. Start by learning more, develop new skills, or explore your creative side. When you know more, you’re able to discover your limitations or explore different ways to realize your goals or ambitions.

Celebrate your wins.
Achieving your goals takes a lot of work. So revel in the feelings of pride and satisfaction when you’ve accomplished a goal. Take time to celebrate your little wins with the people who have helped you get to where you are. You deserve it!

In AXA, we recognize the important role played by women not just at work but also at home. Since January 2017, AXA has implemented the global parenting policy, which provides 16 weeks paid maternity leave and four weeks paid paternal leave for newborn parents.

As part of AXA’s corporate social responsibility, we launched Finlit 101: What’s Your Game Plan, which aims to provide grassroots training on the topics of financial planning, savings, and investment for public schools, universities, cooperatives, and micro-finance institutions. Through this program, AXA is able to empower educators and women in local communities to raise awareness on the value of savings and to highlight the importance of insurance in proper money management.

In observance of International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month, AXA Philippines participated in the global theme of #ChooseToChallenge through social media posts of CEO Rahul Hora and other members of the executive leadership team. As an internal campaign, employees were encouraged to post a “Choose to Challenge” statement on Workplace@Facebook to raise funds for the Virlanie Foundation, an NGO that cares and provides for young girls and boys in need of protection.

P&G and Shopee Collaborate to Encourage Fair Division of Household Chores in Latest #ChallengeTheChores Campaign

Procter & Gamble partnered with the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, Shopee, to launch its latest campaign as part of this year’s International Women’s Day. Titled #ChallengeTheChores, this campaign responds to the global call for us to challenge gender stereotypes by fostering a sense of joint responsibility within the household and encouraging family members to team up and tackle household chores together.

The campaign will be progressively launched across five Southeast Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam, featuring a series of challenges that aim to inspire families to take on household chores together, such as doing the laundry and attending to a child’s needs.

Since Covid-19, 75% of caregiving chores have fallen on women, with several extra responsibilities and commitments added to their already busy lives. To further illustrate the importance of addressing this need for shared responsibility, the campaign will feature a video of how household chores can be equally divided and tackled together.

Alexandra Vogler, P&G e-commerce Senior Director, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, said, “P&G is deeply committed to equality and inclusion. Through this campaign, we want to raise awareness of the imbalanced distribution of chores. Through an entertaining short film and an interactive, gamified experience, we hope to inspire people to #ChallengeTheChores and drive greater equality within households.”

Shopee also found that women are the most active shoppers on the platform in product categories such as household and other fast-moving consumer goods. As e-commerce becomes more prevalent, Shopee looks to leverage its platform to encourage meaningful conversations through a fun, personalized, and interactive experience for customers.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “We are proud to partner with P&G, a world-leading FMCG brand, on this meaningful initiative. Besides encouraging families to take on equal responsibilities of household chores, we also seek to provide our users with a wide assortment of products to make everyday household chores convenient and manageable. We look forward to launching more of such engaging campaigns with P&G that would enrich the shopping experience for our users.”

During the campaign period, shoppers in each market can look forward to various activities and exclusive content that will inspire the whole family and help them rediscover the fun of tackling household chores together. These include live streams featuring Key Opinion Leaders on their challenges when tackling household chores and how they teamed up with their partners to overcome those challenges. It also includes exclusive in-app activities to snatch up special deals and win prizes and the classic Shopee Catch game to collect as many P&G products giveaway or vouchers as possible.

The #ChallengeTheChores Campaign will run from March 17 to March 19. For more information about the campaign and the best deals and promos, visit https://shopee.ph/m/pg-super-brand-day.
