Air Supply returns to Sta. Rosa, Laguna this December 2023

Let’s make our night better and witness the live performance of the iconic Australian soft rock duo “Air Supply“, on December 15, 2023, at the Santa Rosa Sports Coliseum, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, for their “The Lost in Love Experience 2023” concert tour.

Air Supply started their career in 1975 after members Graham Russell (vocals, guitars) and Russell Hitchcock (vocals) met on the first day of rehearsals for the musical Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney, Australia. Soon after the musical play ended in October 1976, Rod Stewart invited Air Supply to open for him on his Australian and North American tours. This is where their humble musical journey began. From then on, they had a succession of hits worldwide, including eight TOP5 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100: “Lost in Love” (1979), “All Out of Love” (1980), “Every Woman in the World” (1980), “The One That You Love” (1981), “Here I Am” (1981), “Sweet Dreams” (1982), “Even the Night Are Better” (1982), and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All” (1983).

In July 2005, their live DVD “It Was Thirty Years Ago Today” celebrated 30 years of recording and touring and, in the same month, smashed the attendance record by performing in Havana, Cuba, to 175,000 fans. In October 2012, Air Supply was honored by Gray Line’s Ride of Fame. They were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association’s Hall of Fame on December 1, 2013, at the Annual ARIA Awards. On December 2, 2014, Evolution Music Group released Air Supply’s first high-definition concert film, Air Supply: Live in Hong Kong, on their Evosound label.

In 2020, Air Supply was listed at number 48 on Rolling Stone Australia’s list of the 50 Greatest Australian Artists of All Time. And, in January 2020, the Australian newspaper Herald Sun proclaimed Air Supply in the Top 5 of “Greatest Aussie Bands” of all time in the company of AC/DC, The Bee Gees, and INXS.

This will be their second time at the same venue which is anticipated to sell out just like the first time in 2018. Both concerts produced by Ovation Productions. Tap Go TV and Blast TV are the official media partners. Tickets are available starting Monday, September 25, 2023, at smtickets.com and priced at 5500/4500/3500/2500/1500 plus ticketing fees.

Ginhawa sa Kalusugan Ngayong Tag-Ulan: Be ready with these essentials during this rainy season

Rains offer the much needed respite from the hot weather. Rainy season shift brings both relief and health challenges.

While the rainy season can be enjoyable, cozy and comfortable, we also cannot deny that flu and other illnesses like cough, colds, allergies, are common around this time. It may cause discomfort to daily commuters, and abstain them from getting on time to wherever they are headed.
" The shift in seasons usually affects my family because most of them travel and works onsite. Dahil tag-ulan at nasa labas sila ng bahay, putting them at an increased risk of catching a cold or flu virus. After work, pagdating sa bahay, I saw them starts sneezing, nasal congestion, cough and colds."
And as we continue to experience rainy days, it's helpful to have these essentials to stay healthy, snug and comfortable during the downpour:

✔️ Umbrella: Stay-dry comfort

Of course, number one on the list is an umbrella. If I would look at the bags of most Filipinos, I’ll most likely find an umbrella. It’s like a trusty sidekick in the crazy weather rollercoaster we experience daily. One minute, we’re under the scorching heat, and the next, we could be caught in a downpour with gusty winds. Having an umbrella on hand keeps me prepared for whatever weather surprise comes my way.

✔️ Tea: A cup of warmth

There's nothing quite like wrapping my hands around a warm mug of tea as the rain taps against the windowpane. The soothing warmth of tea instantly makes me feel snug and content, making it the ultimate comfort drink for gloomy weather. I always choose a selection of soothing herbal teas such as chamomile, lavender, or ginger, which not only provide warmth but also have calming and digestive properties. Sometimes, I add some honey or lemon for an extra touch of sweetness and flavor!

✔️ Soup: Comfort food for the soul

For many Filipinos, soup has always been a comfort food especially during the rainy days. Whether it's the beloved Filipino classics like sinigang, tinola, or bulalo, or a simple yet heartwarming bowl of pumpkin soup, these have always been a go-to choice for me especially when I want some warmth!

✔️ Essential oils: Aromatherapy for comfort

Call me a tita but I love indulging in essential oils. These tiny miracles are made from plant extracts, and they have the power to turn my day around with just a sniff! Lavender essential oils can help reduce stress, while eucalyptus essential oils can provide relief from congestion, making it easier to breathe in the damp weather. It’s great as a sleep aid, too!

✔️ Essential vitamins and medicines: Defense and immunity booster

No rainy-day care package is complete without essential vitamins and medicines. It’s wise to have them on hand during days when I’m feeling under the weather. This rainy season, I make sure I always have Sodium Ascorbate, Paracetamol, Lagundi, Twinnings Green Tea because they treat fevers, coughs and colds and help us all, especially my loveones feel better faster. And to make sure I have ample supply of quality and affordable generic medicines and vitamins, I always go to Generika Drugstore.

Through its house brand products Actimed Generics and Nutrawell Supplements, Generika Drugstore makes flu and allergy relief medications accessible and affordable.

With these rainy-day essentials, ramdam ko ang ginhawa ngayong tag-ulan, ramdam ko pa ang ginhawa sa bulsa with the vitamins and medicines from Generika Drugstore!

Health is wealth, always be ready with these essentials para sa lahat.

Landco Pacific’s Chief Executive Officer paying it forward with the Adopt-A-Scholar program

Landco Pacific Corporation, known for pioneering premium landscapes for more than three decades, forges ahead with its Adopt-a-Scholar program in partnership with Batangas State University and local public high schools. This latest initiative is part of Landco’s long-term Corporate Social Responsibility aimed at helping underprivileged youth within the vicinity of Landco BeachTowns in Calatagan and Laiya, San Juan, Batangas.

Erickson Y. Manzano promotes youth education in its BeachTown communities in Laiya and Calatagan, Batangas

Under Landco’s Adopt-a-Scholar program, five college scholars each from Calatagan and Laiya will be selected, and provided with financial assistance for a four-year course in Hospitality at Batangas State University. The financial aid covers their daily needs for food, transportation, dormitory, school necessities and projects.

“We partnered with the local high school to select the students based on: academic performance and financial capability. We visited the houses of the candidates to meet their family members and learn more about the candidates, their dreams, and if they are serious about finishing their studies,” Landco President and CEO Erickson Y. Manzano stated.

Upon their graduation, they have the option to take job opportunities at Landco BeachTowns and Millennial Resorts, the hospitality arm of Landco which currently manages the unconventional accommodations: Crusoe Cabins in CaSoBe (Calatagan South Beach), Cocoons (CaSoBe and Club Laiya) and Camperisti (Club Laiya); and leisure facilities: Aquaria water park (CaSoBe) and Laiya Beach Club (Club Laiya); among other upcoming developments.

”We all start off at different levels in life and education is the great equalizer. And this is what we hope to accomplish with Landco’s Adopt-a-Scholar program. We don’t believe in dole-outs. We believe in helping people learn how to fish,” Manzano remarked on the main reason behind this initiative.

“The Adopt-a-Scholar program is close to my heart. It is inspired by my own family’s journey in life. Both my parents had humble beginnings, and they were able to finish college because someone from their families paid for their tuition and expenses,” he shared.

“My dad used to shine shoes growing up. His eldest sister, who was a teacher at the time, paid for my dad’s schooling. My dad was able to get into the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree. My mom, on the other hand, used to be a nanny when she was young but her brother sent her to the University of the East where she finished college as well. My parents have done very well for themselves and it was really through education that they were able to rise from where they started in life,” he expounded.

“My parents have paid it forward throughout their lives. They’ve sent several of my relatives to school and many of them now have very successful lives with very promising children,” he emphasized.

“With my parents as examples, we hope that our scholars will also pay it forward. We hope that they become successful in their lives and come back and help their own families and relatives. This is how our countrymen can get out of poverty. If we help those with little means, but with the potential and the drive to rise above their current circumstances, then hopefully they’ll come back and take care of their families. And hopefully, some of them will come and work with us in Landco. But even if they don’t join us, if they simply come back to help their own families, then this program would have been a great success,” he related how education serves as a powerful tool to transform lives and the country’s socio-economic growth.

Along with Landco’s efforts on eco-friendly design and sustainable initiatives that will help conserve the natural environment and pristine beaches of Batangas, the premium real estate developer is committed to creating a meaningful, positive, and lasting impact in the lives of the people who are in the environs of the BeachTown developments in Batangas. Through community development and support for the education of underprivileged youth at the grassroots level, Landco aims to create inclusive growth in the tourist destination of Batangas, and a legacy for the communities that the company nurtures.

“In both our project locations in Batangas: San Juan, Laiya, and Calatagan, we are the biggest developments there. We’d like the families around us to be successful. We’d like them to grow as we grow. It’s a lot more gratifying to work when you’re able to help the people around you. That’s what the ‘R’ in CSR means. It is the responsibility of those who are doing well in life to help out those who didn’t win the genetic lottery,” he said.

“We hope to keep adopting scholars for every project we launch, in every location we’re in. We want to do something that really matters in the lives of the people around us. We hope that this will have a significant and exponential effect on the quality of their families’ lives. And I hope they pay it forward, just as we did,” he relayed his vision for Landco’s Adopt-a-Scholar program.

Manzano together with Landco Project Director and Head for Community Development Jeramie Fauni, BSU President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo and BSU Vice President for Development and External Affairs Atty. Noel Alberto S. Omandap signed the agreement for Landco’s scholarship program.

Witnessing the ceremonial signing ceremony were BSU representatives: Dr. Teodorica G. Ani, Director, External Affairs Central; Engr. Edgardo Titus Kaalim, Jr., Executive Assistant of the President; Ian Sayne Macasaet, Administrative Assistant, Public Relations; Christian Lawrence C. Ortiz, Technical Staff, External Affairs Central; Landco executives: Gerard Penaflor, Vice President for Sales and Marketing and Charisse Santiano, Sales and Marketing Manager; and Melani Torres, Principal, Calatagan Senior High School.

Landco implements environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives to create a better tomorrow for its stakeholders. As a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Corp. (MPIC), helmed by its Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, Landco aligns its sustainability strategy to MPIC’s commitment to achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable; and strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.

Landco’s holistic approach to sustainability encompasses LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) registration of Resort Estates CaSoBe and Club Laiya, EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification of Crusoe Cabins, employment of approximately 70% locals for Millennial Resorts, and initiatives such as mangrove sapling planting, release of turtle hatchlings and support to fisherfolks.
