Ben&Ben unveil first-ever “animation-concert” hybrid

The nine-piece collective aims to revolutionize headline shows with an innovative mix of animation, film, and music performances

Filipino band Ben&Ben are set to redefine the live concert experience with an audio-visual extravaganza that seamlessly blends animation, film, and music performances into one immersive package. Their upcoming arena show, scheduled for December 14, 2024, at SM Mall of Asia Arena, produced by Ovation Productions promises to be a groundbreaking event in the local music scene.

Inspired by their highly anticipated third studio album, The Traveller Across Dimensions, the concert will introduce a new dimension of storytelling, combining live music with cutting-edge multimedia elements. The upcoming album, which pushes the boundaries of traditional music releases, will serve as the foundation for this innovative concert, thematically and conceptually speaking.
Ben&Ben have partnered with a talented team of concert directors, designers, and multimedia artists to create an animation-concert hybrid that will transport the concert-going audience into a magical, world-building realm. Working alongside Puppeteer Studios, the Pagtingin hitmakers will also introduce a cast of unique characters and an immersive universe that promise to captivate the audience from start to finish.

“We’re thrilled to share the story of Liwanag, the titular character in The Traveller Across Dimensions,” the nine-piece act explains in a collective statement. “We’ve shown a glimpse of this story in our “Triumph” music video, but the concert will reveal the full narrative in a way that no one has seen before.”

This special concert is designed to exude a cinematic experience, integrating the excitement of a live performance with the confines of filmmaking. Ben&Ben’s The Traveller Across Dimensions concert aims to elevate the theatricality of their previous shows, hinting at exploring new, interactive technology to further enhance the show.

“It’s also the first time we will be incorporating Liwanag LED wristbands as part of the immersive experience,” the critically acclaimed act shares. “We are working with Pixmob, the same tech provider as some of the international concerts we’ve attended in the past.”

In terms of the set list, the concert will feature a dynamic mix of crowd favorites, personal picks, and new songs from their latest album. In keeping up with their signature style, Ben&Ben have meticulously arranged the lineup of songs to align with the overarching narrative. This helps in bringing an integrated storytelling experience to the live stage.

“It’s a delicate balance between staying true to what fans love and offering something new,” the band adds. “We’re excited to bring these songs to life in a way that’s never been done before.”

Tickets for Ben&Ben’s The Traveller Across Dimensions concert are now available via SM Tickets.

M2M ‘The Better Endings Tour’ Coming To Manila on May 2025

After 25 years, the beloved Norwegian pop duo M2M is reuniting for their first-ever headlining tour, and it kicks off in Asia. MANILA will be on May 1, 2025 at the Araneta Coliseum. Tickets will go on-sale on Saturday, October 26 at 12PM via TicketNet.com.ph and TicketNet outlets nationwide. Presented by Wilbros Live.

Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn, who shot to international fame in the early 2000s, are returning to the stage to celebrate their legacy.

"It was never a question of where we'd start our tour if we ever reunited - Asia was always the first choice. Some of our best memories are from there.” says Marion Ravn.

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of M2M’s best-selling album «Shades of Purple”, and the fans of the duo have continued to listen to their music and begged for a reunion for a long time. Following their split in 2002, both Marit Larsen and Marion Ravn pursued successful solo careers, but the duo never performed together again - until now.

On September 22nd (twenty-five after nine) Marit and Marion’s followers were sent into a frenzy when M2M posted a video of themselves singing a snippet of their most-streamed hit, "The Day You Went Away". The clip went viral, racking up millions of views within hours, as fans flooded the comments with tour requests. And now, it's finally happening.

"The Better Endings Tour" is the beginning of a new chapter for M2M, and it brings them back to Asia. Despite spending nearly a decade together, travelling all over the world and selling over 12 million albums worldwide, M2M never embarked on their own headlining tour.

"We're finally getting to do what we always dreamed of. "I can't wait to get back on stage playing music with Marit again", says Marion.

"Making "Shades of Purple” changed our lives forever, and playing these songs together again, in the same room, while rediscovering both our music and our friendship at the same time, is a particular kind of magic. It feels powerful, like a celebration, Marit says.

"Let’s give this story a better ending. The ending it deserves. We truly can’t wait to see you (again)."

Orange & Lemons releases music video for “La Bulaqueña,” starring Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo

Filipino alternative pop outfit Orange & Lemons has finally dropped the iconic music video of “La Bulaqueña,” featuring fellow Bulakenya and Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo.

-------------------------------------------------------------
The award-winning Filipino band will also be staging their 25th anniversary concert next month, featuring rarities and hits from their four-album catalog
-------------------------------------------------------------

Conceptualized and directed by constant collaborators Everywhere We Shoot, the MV showcases the parallel storylines of O&L and Manalo and how they were deeply connected together by a turn-of-the-century portraiture called Una Bulaqueña in terms of geographic affinity and influence.

The said masterpiece, which was helmed by Juan Luna y Novicio, carries an unassuming naturalness that depicts a Filipina from an elite countryside background, one who is assumed to be from Bulacan.

“The symbolic repetition of the painting deepens the narrative and signifies the theme,” Clem Castro, the lead vocalist and guitarist of seminal alternative rock outfit, Orange & Lemons, explains.

An unexpected collaboration

During her Miss Universe Philippines campaign, Chelsea Manalo’s team used “La Bulaqueña” as the background music for one of her concept photography, which mimics the subject of the Juan Luna painting. The posts from her team and fans eventually went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms, prompting the band to revive the idea of filming the song's visual narrative, with Chelsea completing the missing piece of the puzzle.

Castro shares, “Working with Chelsea was a breeze. She was a natural behind the lens and a jolly individual. A true beauty queen, both inside and out.”

Aside from Manalo, the Moonlane Gardens act also collaborated with the National Museum of Fine Arts to turn their vision into a reality. As the first band to film a music video inside the museum, O&L were able to fulfill a dream project: mixing music, culture, arts, architecture, and pageantry in a contemporary setting and theme.

“Our team and label did a couple of inquiries, and the stars aligned,” Castro reveals. “We are grateful that the National Museum of Fine Arts decided to partner with us with this project.”

25th anniversary concert

Aside from the release of “La Bulaqueña” MV, Orange & Lemons recently announced their upcoming heafline show, aptly titled “Now & Then: Orange & Lemons 25th Anniversary Concert, happening on October 18, 2024, from 7 p.m. onwards. at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City.

The award-winning four-piece band is slated to perform a three-hour set featuring some of their most notable songs—crowd pleasers, critical favorites, and rarities—from their generation-defining, four-album catalog.

The highly anticipated event aims to celebrate the band’s incredible journey from their indie beginnings (Love in the Land of Rubber Shoes and Dirty Ice Cream) to their mainstream success (Strike Whilst the Iron Is Hot), from their psychedelic era (Moonlane Gardens) to their Tagalog-flavored pivot (La Bulaqueña), all leading up to a discography that exudes with daring intimacy and ambition.

In an open letter posted two weeks ago, O&L expressed utmost appreciation to the fan’s unwavering support and passion for their music.

“Reaching this quarter-century milestone feels like a dream come true, and it’s a testament to the incredible community that surrounds us,” shares Clem Castro, the lead vocalist and guitarist of seminal pop-rock outfit, Orange & Lemons. Each chord we strummed, each lyric we penned, and every note we sang has been made richer by your enthusiasm and love. You’ve been with us through the highs and lows. From our beginnings as truggling artists, to our rise to fame, the heartaches of disbanding and a decade of quiet moments, the reformation and new releases. We couldn’t have done it without you.”

For this game-changing concert, the Lihim act also promises a diverse selection of songs from their wide-spanning discography that define different eras and stages of their career. “We normally play short sets on the big stage all over the country, leaving out most of our catalog in favor of more popular ones. For this concert, we want to bring to the big stage and perform live, if not all, a majority of songs from our past 4 albums. Expect us to perform and tell our story for over 3 hours!”

Aside from the main show, fans can also access the Meet and Greet segment of the concert, where they not only get a chance to interact and shake hands with the band, but also experience a special set featuring songs and covers that didn’t make it to the final cut of the 3-hour set.

"NOW AND THEN" 25th Anniversary Concert is produced by Orange & Lemons and Lilystars Records, in cooperation with GNN Entertainment Productions. This event is sponsored by JB Music, Marco Polo Hotel, David's Salon, Fisherman's Friend, Suit It Up Manila, Unknown13 Pub, and Welcome Home Café.

Olivia, 21, born and raised in California to a Filipino father and a German-Irish mother, earlier expressed her intent to go to the Philippines for a concert. Olivia said she is proud of her Filipino line, and she hasn't forgotten her roots despite her smashing success in the music scene. In an article written by Tomas Mier for the online edition of People Magazine recently, the singer was emotional as she represented the Filipino community in the US. In her Instagram Stories, Rodrigo expressed her excitement as this will be her first visit to the Philippines.

All net ticket proceeds will support Rodrigo’s Fund 4 Good, a global initiative "committed to building an equitable and just future for all women and girls through direct support of community based non-profits that champion girls' education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence."

"All tickets for the Manila show will be sold as Silver Star Tickets, all priced at P1,500 including taxes, with a limit of four per purchaser. These seats will be located next to each other and the seat locations will be revealed when tickets are picked up in person after September 28. Ticket sections within the venue will be issued to fans at random and will include all seats within the venue including limited view seats, lower and upper leavel seasting as well as the floor," the Live Nation Philippines post read.

A Grammy Award winner, Olivia, rose to fame when she debuted the album "Sour" containing the hit single "Driver's License" in 2021. She also hit No. 1 with "Good 4 U" from the same album.

In 2023, Olivia scored another hit album "Guts" featuring the No. 1 song "Vampire." Rodrigo's show in Manila is part of her "GUTS" tour in Asia and Australia. She will be touring Asia from September 16 to October 1, and will be doing shows in Australia from October 9 to 18.

Each buyer is limited to four tickets. The seat locations will be revealed when the tickets are picked up in person on Sept. 28, but they noted that the four seats purchased will be located next to each other.

"Ticket sections within the venue will be issued to fans at random, and will include all seats within the venue including limited view seats, lower and upper level seating, as well as the floor," the advisory noted.

Online ticket selling begins on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m., while over-the-counter sales begin on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 12 p.m.

Ticket redemption will be on Saturday, Sept. 28 to Friday, Oct. 4 at any SM Tickets outlets.

Live Nation noted that the name on the claim ticket voucher must be the one to redeem the tickets. Buyers must bring a valid ID and the claim ticket voucher.

Every ticket purchased will contribute to Olivia's Fund 4 Good, a global initiative committed to advancing women's and girls' rights through education, reproductive health, and violence prevention.
