Shopee and Taguig LGU Provide Care Packages to Support Vaccination Efforts

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, teams up with the local government unit (LGU) of Taguig City to provide care packages that can encourage more people to get vaccinated and to express gratitude towards frontliners diligently working at the center. Last July 28-30, Shopee rolled out its vaccination center support initiative in Western Bicutan National High School by giving food, water, and health kits from Shopee and its partner brands under Shopee Mall to 1,500 frontliners, staff, and the people getting vaccinated. These included snacks from Del Monte, Perfetti Van Melle, Dutchmill Soy, Monde Nissin, and Rebisco; water from Hope in a Bottle; health kits from Mighty Clean and Colgate; and industrial fans from Symphony.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “Shopee is committed to contributing and positively impacting the community. We are proud to partner with the Taguig LGU in their efforts to inoculate their citizens and are grateful to our brand partners who generously lend us their support in serving the Filipinos. We want to play a part in meaningful initiatives such as this especially when the country is still battling the pandemic. We will continue to support the Filipinos and offer them the help that they need.”

34-year old Corporate Giveaways Buyers’ Show marks its second year online

With the pandemic forcing a halt to face-to-face activities, companies are looking to increase their corporate gifting activities to help them stay connected to their clients and employees.  Reaching out to customers and keeping engaged with your team is even more important now that traditional marketing, PR and team building events are still not possible.

“A gift, no matter how high or low the cost, reminds people that they’re not forgotten just because they happen to be out of sight. The feeling of appreciation that you create with customers and clients will stay with them beyond the moment the gift is received. Furthermore, recipients will probably send a message of thanks, opening lines of communication and increasing engagement naturally.” shares Raquel Romero of World Expos & Concepts Inc. organizers of the Corporate Giveaways Buyers’ Show, the Philippines’ longest-running annual expo on business gifts, premiums, promotional ideas and merchandise incentives.

This year’s Corporate Giveaways Buyers’ Show is once again online with over 60 participating companies and brands offering thousands of year-round gift options at all price points. Exhibitors include Decathlon Philippines, Anker and Garmin Philippines, Cross, Timex, Zinc Group, BrandCharger, Ramesh Trading, Ilahui, Parker Pens, The Primer Group and many more. Through the event website, visitors can browse through suppliers’ details, view product photos, download brochures and send chat or email inquiries.

Corporate Giveaways Online Buyers’ Show is from August 1 to 31, 2021. Visitors can register and log in for free at www.corporategiveawaysbuyershow.com

Reader’s Digest’s 23rd Annual Awards Reveal The Brands And Personalities Filipinos Trust The Most

A year has passed since Reader’s Digest’s first virtual Most Trusted Brands Awards. A lot has happened in that time, but COVID-19 is still affecting millions of people and their livelihoods. But we at Reader’s Digest were not going to allow the pandemic to stop our 23rd annual survey of Philippines’ Most Trusted Brands and Personalities from going ahead.

Upholding the new norm during these challenging times, this is the second year we are presenting our award ceremony in a virtual format.

Perhaps more than any other year, trust has been the guiding human emotion we’ve all had to rely on to navigate through our day safely. In terms of the current situation, that means getting proactive and reaching out to customers and audiences like never before. It’s all about maintaining a relationship with individuals.

THE PERSONALITIES FILIPINOS TRUST THE MOST

Just like previous years, one of the highlights of the 2021 Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands awards is the list of most trusted personalities in the following categories: Most Trusted News Presenter; Most Trusted Radio Presenter; Most Trusted Variety/ Entertainment Presenter; and Most Trusted Sportsperson.

The personalities that Filipinos put their trust in most were:

MIKE ENRIQUEZ
Most Trusted Radio Presenter

With a career spanning five decades, Radio GMA President and 24 Oras senior news anchor Mike Enriquez is well known for his integrity. At 66, Enriquez is approaching nearly half a century in the media. Throughout his career he has worked in both TV and radio as a reporter, editor, program director, station manager, president and, of course, presenter.

JESSICA SOHO
Most Trusted TV Presenter

With millions of viewers tuning in every Sunday to Kapuso Mo, GMA Network’s top-rating current affairs program, the expectation of being challenged and inspired by the country’s most celebrated female journalist is an honor the TV veteran takes very seriously. For 34 years, Jessica Soho has built a reputation for tackling tricky investigations and life-changing human-interest stories.

RYAN AGONCILLO
Most Trusted Entertainment/Variety Presenter

Trust and honesty are characteristics that are closely aligned – so it should be no surprise that these words are often heard when describing Ryan Agoncillo. Last October, the former star of the noontime show Eat Bulaga came out in support of people who suffer from depression when he posted on social media about his own battles with the debilitating condition. This honesty won him many supporters.

MANNY PACQUIAO
Most Trusted Sportsperson

Since winning his first professional fight at 16, Manny Pacquiao has built an impressive sporting career that has seen him rise out of poverty to become the most successful sportsperson in the Philippines. The past year has been challenging for Pacquiao – the only boxer to win major world titles in eight different weight divisions – who now has to balance his boxing career with the responsibilities of being a senator in the National Congress.

THE BRANDS FILIPINOS TRUST THE MOST

The award-winning Trusted Brands, outlined in the Reader’s Digest 23rd annual survey, listen to customer concerns, sympathize with their situations and provide the necessary support and assistance to their customers because they appreciate these valued relationships.

“Trust matters when it comes to weathering a crisis, and ultimately, trust is built on the traditional foundations of quality, consistency, honesty and delivering on your promises,” said Editor-in-Chief, Louise Waterson.

This is the kind of service and quality that helps a consumer understand that the brand they know and trust is still on their side, and working hard to continue the relationship they worked hard to build.

Platinum Awards went to those brands that perform exceptionally, based on consumers’ perception. In the poll, these brands attained scores that exceed those of their nearest competitors. Some of the awardees were:
• Investment Fund Company – Sun Life;

• Bank – BDO;

• Credit Card Issuing Bank – BDO;

• Optical Shop/Stores – Executive Optical;

• Pharmacy/Drugstore – Mercury Drug;

• TV Network – GMA;

• Pen – Pilot;

• Mattress – Uratex;

• Tires – Goodyear;

• Milk Tea Shop – Macao Imperial Tea.

Gold Awards went to brands that had outstanding results, based on the perception of consumers. Some of the brands included in this list were:
• Airfreight/Courier Service – J&T Express;

• Personal/Consumer Loan – BDO;

• Investment Fund Company – BDO;

• Life Insurance – Manulife;

• Personal Computer – Acer;

• Cooking Oil – Baguio Oil;

• Credit Card Issuing Bank – Citibank;

• Optical Shop/Store – Ideal Vision Center;

• Plasticware – Orocan;

• Air Purifier – Sharp;

• Washing Machine – Sharp;

• Washing Machine – Whirlpool;

• TV Network – ABS-CBN.

About the survey

The survey is an independently commissioned poll, with the results appearing exclusively in Reader’s Digest Philippines. Leading market research agency Catalyst Research surveyed a representative sample of 8000 individuals from the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan to determine which brands consumers trust most.

The survey reveals the brands, products and services that consumers believe in, over more than 50 categories.

Shopee Mall Brands Ramp Up Efforts to Maintain Steady Growth at the 8.8 Mega Flash Sale

This coming 8.8, brands are offering special deals and big discounts for shoppers, along with free shipping with ₱0 minimum spend and ₱8 peso deals

With the surge of online shoppers driving the need for digital evolution, brands are continuing to adapt to cater to the rapidly changing behavior of the Filipino consumer, with support from Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. With the upcoming Shopee 8.8 Mega Flash Sale, brands such as OPPO, Colgate-Palmolive, and Nestlé share how they maximize their strengths to establish themselves as a prime player in the e-commerce landscape and how this gives them the opportunity to give their customers value for money deals and provide them with a more engaging online experience.

Leveled-up customer engagement for OPPO

As a leading global smart device company, OPPO sees its partnership with Shopee as a great avenue to connect and virtually interact with its customers. Through in-app features like Shopee Live and Shopee Feed, they get to explain their products in real-time and get to answer questions sent via the comments section. This unique interaction between brand and buyer is a way to build customer loyalty, especially now that people are shopping online for their needs.

Sam Li, E-Commerce Manager at OPPO Philippines, said, “Shopee has provided us with really good support to engage with our customers. Shopee also helped us gain traction in our store with the help of Shopee Ads and Top Picks. Through marketing campaigns and engagement tools, we were able to grow our brand and reach more people with our products.”

Growth opportunities for Colgate-Palmolive Philippines

Over the last two years, Colgate-Palmolive Philippines has been pushing its business expansion in the digital space exponentially. Colgate-Palmolive Philippines’ Official Store on Shopee Mall grew strongly from 2019 to 2020 and is expecting to sustain its momentum through 2021, led by Tender Care, Palmolive, Colgate, Ajax, and Irish Spring. The Colgate brand also recorded a notable 7x uplift in orders during its first Shopee Super Brand Day with a campaign that focused on celebrating individuality and bold self-expression. This 8.8, Colgate-Palmolive Philippines is excited to maximize the Flash Sale feature as it allows them to introduce their products to new customers and get shoppers excited about the brand’s promos.

Erica Sangoyo, eCommerce Team Leader at Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, said, “Shopee has been a collaborative partner to the Colgate-Palmolive team. Over the years, we have worked closely together to bring to life our brand experience in the digital space and make our products accessible to all our consumers. We will continue to work together to ensure that our shoppers stay engaged and excited about our upcoming campaigns.”

Evolving consumer experience for Nestlé

To cater to the evolving consumer landscape, Nestlé consistently utilizes Shopee’s onsite solutions that work best with the brands under them. Nestlé launched the International Coffee Day Campaign in 2019 but expanded it to incorporate it with its Nescafe CSR initiatives last 2020. They saw significant growth during the campaign and it was also a great way for them to build brand equity with Shopee’s millennial customer base.

Ariana Henares, E-Commerce Manager at Nestlé Philippines, said, “Shopee is a valued partner of Nestlé in supporting our brand initiatives and growing our e-commerce footprint. We consistently work with Shopee on activities to increase our brand’s online sales and delight our consumers. We are looking forward to continuing working together with Shopee to be able to deliver a great user experience for a growing customer base and are excited to further grow the partnership in the coming years.”

7 Tips and Tricks All Beauty Lovers Should Master

Get the lowdown on these must-know tips and enjoy up to 90% off on skincare and makeup must-haves at Shopee Beauty

Throughout the years, we’ve seen just how quickly beauty fads change. We’ve witnessed the industry’s evolution, from yesteryears’ contouring and highlighting trends to today’s more natural, glowy looks.

That said, the fundamentals of beauty pretty much stay the same. After all, whichever look you’re going for, you still need to know the basics of taking proper care of your skin, or of picking out shades that work wonders for your skin tone.

Below, we’ve rounded up a few skincare, hair care, and makeup how-tos for beauty lovers. We’ve also included product recommendations, which you can get for up to 90% off at the Shopee Beauty Sale starting July 28:

Wear sunscreen even while staying indoors

Rain or shine, it’s important to protect your skin against harmful UV rays. If you’re indoors, keep in mind that these rays can still penetrate windows. After your morning skincare, apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. SNAILWHITE CC Sunscreen comes with SPF50+ PA+++ and provides natural coverage.

Gently pat your skincare on

The lightweight Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is perfect for the Philippines’ hot and humid climate. Squeeze a generous amount onto your fingertips and softly pat—don’t rub—on your face. A patting motion is more gentle on the skin. For thin skin surrounding the eye area, use your ring finger to help prevent wrinkles.

Don’t shampoo everyday
Did you know that shampooing everyday actually strips the scalp of natural oils? Try shampooing every other day instead. During the days in between, use Palmolive Naturals Dry Shampoo to freshen up your locks. Spritz on sections of your hair for fragrant, floral-scented tresses.

Don’t apply too much mascara to avoid clumps

If clumpy spider lashes are the bane of your existence, here’s a little trick: always wipe off excess product on your mascara wand before wiggling it up your lashes. With Maybelline Lash Lift Mascara’s double curved wand, you can enjoy dramatic volume and lift minus the clumps.

Make your foundation look like second skin

Prior to applying foundation, create a glowing canvas by moisturizing your skin. Next, buff in your foundation of choice, blending from the center of your face outward. For a natural look, Ellana Buttermilk BB Foundie lends the skin medium coverage and a radiant finish.

Prep your lips before applying lip products

Take a look in most Filipinas’ makeup bags, and you’ll definitely find a lip tint. Happy Skin Lip & Cheek Tint, for instance, offers a variety of morena-friendly colors. For smooth, juicy lips, exfoliate gently and swipe on a lip balm. Then apply the tint to the center of your lips and use your finger to diffuse the color.

Use a light hand for your brows

You know what they say—brows can either make or break your look. For flawless arches, use Focallure Eyebrow Pencil to draw small, feathery strokes. Blend out the product as much as you can, then brush the hairs up with a clear brow gel to mimic a naturally full brow.
