City of Dreams Manila ushers in the 'Wonders of Christmas' with an annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

City of Dreams Manila officially kicked-off Yuletide festivities with the lighting of a 32-foot Christmas tree as the main highlight of its European-themed décor replete with two towering 22-foot nutcrackers, life-size Santa’s log cabin and sleigh at the main entrance.

In his welcome remarks, Andres attributed the property’s Christmas décor concept to the Danish designer Creation Group, which has designed amusement parks, malls, family entertainment spaces and hotels and restaurants, and Tema Design Philippines which executed the displays and various fiberglass installations.

During the holiday season, Santa will be present at the log cabin installed at the main entrance and distribute sweet treats to guests during weekends of December. Various choirs will perform holiday melodies also every weekend up to December 25 at The Shops on the upper ground against a cluster of golden Christmas trees with fairies in flight. For magical photo ops, a 22-foot teddy bear covered in LED lights will be a favored backdrop at the garden by Nobu Hotel, as it sets the holiday mood and illuminates the integrated resort’s outdoor and garden space.

DreamPlay will hold its annual Christmas-themed activity “Shrek the Halls” from December 2 to January 2, while a three-day bazaar for Dream Rewards members from November 24 to 26will be held at the Grand Ballroom. Staycation packages at Crown Towers Manila, Nobu Hotel Manila and Hyatt are on offer until December 31. Holiday menus and promotions will be offered in Nobu Manila, Crystal Dragon, Red Ginger, Wave, Café Society, and The Café at the Hyatt and in the other dining establishments.

DreamPlay's “Spookfest”, a Halloween adventure at City of Dreams Manila


 DreamPlay, the DreamWorks-inspired interactive play space at City of Dreams Manila will hold its annual “Spookfest”, a Halloween adventure from October 28 to November 1 packed with thrilling games, exciting activities, special performances, and awesome prizes.


Children who wish to join can sign up for the “Spookfest VIP Package” for P1,500 which includes an all-day pass at DreamPlay, an exclusive experience to participate in the “Shrek or Treat Pumpkin Hunt” and “Shrek It Out” Costume Contest, admission to view the DreamWorks Halloween movie at the Dream Theatre, a pass to create pumpkin-shaped gingerbread cookies at Gingy’s Kitchen, photo ops with Shrek, and a Spookfest bag with DreamPlay goodies.


The “Shrek or Treat Pumpkin Hunt” enables kids to compete in groups to collect all the pumpkins of their assigned color – orange, yellow, blue, red, green, or white. The pumpkins are hidden in DreamPlay’s various attractions and each pumpkin gives a clue on where to find the next one. The first team to complete their specified pumpkins wins a prize.


Kids who come prepared with their scariest, coolest, or most creative costumes can join the “Shrek It Out” costume contest to be held on November 1 at 3 pm and get a chance to win an overnight stay at Nobu Hotel Manila or DreamPlay tickets. Each contestant shall register and secure an entry number. All participants will be called on stage to showcase their costumes. 

The “Shrek It Out Costume” contest criteria for judging are: creativity (based on overall look, color and personality) - 30%; originality (uniqueness of the costume) - 30%; complexity (intricacy of the costume) - 20%; and overall-appearance (overall style) - 20%.

City of Dreams Manila Foundation donates to Paranaque City’s health program

A tri-party agreement was signed by the foundation of City of Dreams Manila, Melco Resorts Leisure (PHP) Corporation, and the City Government of Parañaque for the monthly donation of P1 Million or a year’s donation of P12 Million to Parañaque City by the luxury integrated resort’s foundation. The donation, which is in keeping with PAGCOR’s requirement for casinos to implement and fund projects for Heritage, Education, Environment and Health Programs, will be in aid of Paranaque City’s health program consisting of the procurement of medicines, medical supplies and equipment for government-maintained hospitals.

True Faith,Parokya ni Edgar and other top OPM bands to perform at City of Dreams' October Beer Festival

It’s all about overflowing beer, authentic German delicacies, rollicking fun with friends, and top OPM bands True Faith and Parokya ni Edgar during the third annual October Beer Festival at the Grand Ballroom of luxury integrated resort City of Dreams Manila on October 12 and 13, 7pm to 11pm.

True Faith will take the center stage and perform their classic 90’s hits on October 12. Part 3 Band and Eye Candies will also perform on the same night.

True Faith’s “Perfect,” “Paano Ka Magiging Akin,” “Dahil Ikaw” and “Huwag Nalang Kaya;” and Parokya ni Edgar’s “Harana,” “Para Sayo,” “Yes, Yes, Show” and “Silvertoes” are some of the highly-anticipated chart-topping songs to be performed live at the October Beer Festival.

Guests can also indulge in a variety of beers such as Weihenstephaner from the oldest brewery in Germany and the world, Sapporo from Japan, Heineken from Netherlands and local beers San Miguel Pale Pilsen, San Miguel Light, and Pedro Brewcrafters. This wide array of beers complements the Bavarian buffet with carving stations of roasted suckling pig, German-style roast chicken, roast pork knuckle and German meatloaf; a selection of grilled sausages, braised beef paired with a variety of breads and pretzels with butter; and desserts such as Bavarian crème, Bee Sting cake, Sacher cake, Linzer cake and apple strudel.

Higher Level Kids, Grand Champion at DreamPlay's “King Julien Dance Off” at City of Dreams Manila

DreamPlay, City of Dreams Manila’s Dreamworks-inspired interactive play space, staged its second nationwide children’s dance competition dubbed as “King Julien Dance Off” to celebrate its second year anniversary and mark its one million visitors to date.

Ace of Spades, a mix group of boys and girls from Angono, Rizal were awarded as 1st runner up. The other six finalists that made it to the grand finals were: Southernside Dance Theater, Super Kids, Small Fries, The Class, GFAM, and Mover’s Impact. They were judged according to creativity, style and originality of choreography; themed-costume based on Dreamworks movie song choice, stage presence and over-all impact or star quality.




Participated in various dance competitions in the country and abroad, the Higher Level Kids dance group stood out when they sent shockwaves of delight and excitement as they performed amazing dance moves and stunts executed with seamless choreography to the remixed Dreamworks movie soundtrack of Madagascar’s “I Like to Move It,” Kung Fu Panda’s “Kung Fu Fighting,” Shrek’s “I’m a Believer” and Troll’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling”.


The children’s dance crew’s dynamic and talented members are also known for their memorable performances in Dance Kids, a dance competition and reality TV show aired on ABS-CBN 2 in 2015 and Super Kids – The World’s Greatest Little Talents TV show in Cologne, Germany in 2016.



The show opened with a dance number featuring DreamPlay’s Dreamers dance group and Madagascar movie’s character King Julien, the charismatic “Lord of the Lemurs” who can’t help but dance to the music and the inspiration behind the children’s dance contest. This was followed by a special dance number by last year’s winners and the first “King Julien’s Dance Off” champions - FMD Extreme.



They wowed the audience once again with their high-flying stunts and electrifying moves.


Higher Level Kids

The main highlight of the program is the performances of eight finalists who set the stage ablaze with their youthful energy and street dance moves ranging from popping, locking and breaking peppered with ballet movements and acrobatic stunts.

The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 finalist Bradley Holmes and Noon Time Show: It’s Showtime’s singing competition segment Tawag ng Tanghalan 2016 contender Nina Espinosa sang a rock duet to entertain the crowd.



The entire bunch of DreamWorks characters Shrek, Fiona, Alex the Lion, King Julien, and Puss in Boots also performed a special dance number.

The judges included City of Dreams Manila General Manager for Non-Gaming Operations Marlon Hirsh, City of Dreams Manila Director of Public Relations Romina Gervacio, G-Force Senior Choreographer Gelai Aguzar, and celebrity couple Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles. 

As the competitions grand champions, Higher Level brought home P80,000 in cash, a DreamPlay trophy, an Annual Pass for unlimited DreamPlay access for each member, a photo op with DreamWorks characters, DreamShop voucher worth P1,000 and Chez Gingy voucher worth P1,000 for each member. The group will also be returning to perform in various DreamPlay and City of Dreams Manila events.



Ace of Spade’s first runner-up prize consisted of P25,000 in cash and a DreamPlay trophy. Every member likewise won a weekend pass at DreamPlay, a photo op with DreamWorks characters, DreamShop voucher worth P500 and Chez Gingy voucher worth P500.

Each of the other highly-talented grand finalists was given P10,000 in cash and a DreamPlay plaque. Each of their members also had a photo opportunity with the Dreamworks characters and brought home a complimentary DreamPlay ticket, DreamShop voucher worth P500 and Chez Gingy voucher worth P500.

City of Dreams Manila CSR: 3rd Year of Volunteerism, HR and Community Projects

City of Dreams Manila marks its third year in helping build better lives for local communities and its human resources through long-term and sustainable corporate social responsibility programs and volunteerism.

The integrated resort’s executives and employees have been engaging in about three volunteer activities per month for the benefit of disadvantaged local communities, orphans and children and the elderly and in the preservation and development of the environment, public health and safety, among others.

In addition, City of Dreams employee volunteers also conduct free internal courses in their respective areas of expertise for interested colleagues, providing additional skills training to enable them to have an alternative source of income or a productive hobby during their free time. Among the workshops that have been held are, namely: meat processing for pork tocino and beef tapa; chocolate-making; creating floral and balloon arrangements; and basic photography.

Property President Geoff Andres spearheads the resort’s regular CSR activities with employee volunteers to date, such as: renovating a children’s orphanage, educating orphans; visiting the elderly; tree planting; house painting and building, and regularly holding blood donation drives with the Philippine Red Cross.

The community engagements have exemplified the Christian virtue of helping those in need, feeding the homeless along the nearby highways of Pasay and Paranaque, as initiated by City of Dreams Manila’s security team who brought bags containing rice, canned goods, noodles, bread, and coffee to homeless families and other impoverished areas along Roxas Boulevard, Quirino Avenue, and Coastal Road (CAVITEX).

Volunteers from the engineering team also renovated My Father’s House, an orphanage in Las Piñas. They replaced the tiles of the kitchen area, fixed and installed door knobs and repaired swimming pool pipes. They also fixed and installed new electrical outlets and lighting fixtures. The renovation provided the orphans with a cleaner, safer, and brighter place to live in.

City of Dreams Manila team’s visit to St. Anthony Village in Baranggay Talon, Las Pinas has helped liven up the small community. Volunteers from various departments successfully painted the exterior walls of some 20 homes, as the children warmly thanked their benefactors with a song and dance presentation. 

Volunteer employees also participated in CSR activities that addressed the emotional and educational needs of orphans and less fortunate children in the community.

For the Bahay Aruga orphanage, the kids have been treated to an educational and fun-filled trips to Museong Pambata, were taught proper grooming and hygiene practices, and encouraged to live a healthier and more active lifestyle with a Zumba class.

At My Father’s House, the children were taught to express themselves through artistic t-shirt painting. Most recently, a tie-up with the Department of Tourism’s Brigada Eskwela campaign resulted in the cleaning and refurbishment of 12 classrooms in San Dionisio Elementary School, Paranaque.

Volunteers likewise reached out to the Anawim home for the elderly and spent a day with the senior members of society, sharing stories and singing heartwarming songs together.

In caring for the environment, two tree planting programs in Noveleta and Ternate, Cavite, were also done during the first half of the year, with over 3,000 mangrove seeds planted during both activities.

Mangroves protect the soil from erosion and shield against cyclones and other ecological disasters. They are also ideal breeding grounds for a variety of marine animals, playing a vital role in the ecological balance of coastal communities.
