"The Voice" Jed Madela signs contract with Star Records

After nine years with Universal Records, singer and world-class performer Jed Madela inked a contract with the music recording company of ABS-CBN, Star Records last Thursday, September 7, 2012.
Often called him as "The Voice" and "The Singer's Singer", Jed Madela is one of the best male singers the country has ever produced. He possesses one of the most clear and the most powerful voice that anyone can possess.

Jed  is looking forward for the release of his album next year. The album will still have the kind of songs where Jed is known for. He hopes to collaborate with other artist and even writing his own songs. He also said that he wanted to audition to the Phantom of the Opera that’s currently staging at the Cultural Center of the Philippines but they didn’t have an audition for the musical.

Jed is a mainstay of ABS CBN's Sunday noontime show ASAP. Jed is currently enjoying sell-out concerts in the Philippines and around the world.
Jed made made a name last 2005 World Championships of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood California.  He won all major industry awards, 6 gold medals for all 6 categories he joined in the World Star Trophy and the most coveted and ultimate title "Grand Champion Performer of the World", the first Filipino to win the title. He bested over 3,000 contestants from 52 countries to win the grand prize.

WCOPA is the first and only international series of competitions that seek to find and crown the best aspiring performing artists on earth. The talent search is an "Olympics-style" competition in which singers compete only against other singers, dance groups compete only against other dance groups, and so on.

Jed has released five albums to date. Debut album “I’ll Be Around” includes the radio smash “Let Me Love You (From The Bottom Of My Heart)”. His second album “Songs Rediscovered” was certified DOUBLE PLATINUM, while his third album “Only Human” went GOLD. He also released a Christmas CD “The Voice Of Christmas”. And Jed Madela's last album “Songs Rediscovered 2: The Ultimate OPM Playlist”, the perfect follow-up to the Double Platinum-certified “Songs Rediscovered”. This is a distinguished collection of timeless OPM songs from the '80s and '90s sung to perfection by a voice that is once heard, never forgotten.

There are many songs - OPM and foreign songs I love, and I love Jed Madela seeing him in many performances he do.  One of my fave song, I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing:)

BWAKAW (Cinemalaya 2012 Official Entry)

Family comes in all shapes and sizes.
"BWAKAW" is the film that enthrall with its emotional truth, high humor and sage assessment of the human condition. Employing frequent outrageous humor, director Jun Robles Lana elegantly captures the quality of everyday life in this backwater while crafting a superior character study of a man who has allowed most of life to pass him by until an emotional jolt emboldens him to go where he's never dared venture before.

A drama-comedy about growing old  and everyone's fear of growing old alone is among the entries in this year's Cinemalaya Film Festival.

This is a story of Rene (Eddie Garcia) who thinks it is now too late for love, even companionship, and that all there is to look forward to is death. The movie shows evolves the characters driven into circumstances because of his love for Bwakaw, who stays with him and follows him wherever he goes. "Bwakaw" is Filipino slang for greed.
I was privileged to have watched the Red Carpet Premiere of  2012 Cinemalaya's Best Actor (Eddie Garcia), Audience Choice Award and NETPAC Award, Bwakaw by APT Entertainment. Written and directed by Palanca Literary  Awards Hall of Famer Jun Lana and starring Eddie Garcia as Rene, Armida Siguion-Reyna, Gardo Versoza, Soxie Topacio, Alan Paule, Luz Valdez, Rez Cortez, Beverly Salviejo, Jonathan Neri, May-I Fabros, Soliman Cruz, Roni Bertubin, and Joey Paras. And introducing Princess as Bwakaw

Thanks to Flow Galindez  for this memorable movie. Bwakaw is one film I will never forget . While watching this drama-comedy movie,  I remember my dog named "Chance" who always stayed with me everywhere I go around our house. He was my bestfriend and protector. Sadly he got sick and died due to a heat stroke 14 years ago.

“Bwakaw,” Jun Lana’s Cinemalaya entry to its Director’s Showcase category.

‘Zero Defect Campaign’ Launched On RCD Land Inc.’s 25th Anniversary event

RCD Land Inc., a real estate & property development company dedicated to providing affordable yet quality housing projects celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Bellevue Hotel in Filinvest Corporate City last August 16, 2012.

More than 600 guests, including tri-media and bloggers attended the event. Most of the attendees were employees and executives from the company, special guests and its partners for success.

Roland C. Delantar, founder and president of RCD Land Inc. also unveiled during the event its ‘Zero Defect Campaign’ program for its housing projects. Together with RCD Development, its construction arm, the program strengthens the company’s campaign for the flawless construction of each housing unit, and to see to it that the supplies, from roof sheets to nails are in great condition before and during construction.  “RCD Development has built its own warehouse, where materials are brought in and checked for quality assurance. Each supplier should meet the specifications we strictly require from them. We want to give our buyers their money’s worth. That is good business for us,” Delantar explained.

Reaching 25 years is a big milestone for any company. “It’s really about commitment to the continuous success of the business endeavor,” says Delantar when asked about what he attributes their success to. With the company’s long experience and stability, they are confident that they will remain a key player in the real estate industry in the coming years.
Their town projects are aimed at providing Filipinos with world-class but affordable homes. They also intend to help the government in its fight against homelessness, poverty and to reduce the housing backlog. Flagship projects of RCD Land are the following: RCD Royale Homes in Silang, Cavite; Winter Breeze Homes in General Trias, Cavite; RCD Homes East in Tanay, Rizal; RCD BF Executive Townhomes in Paranaque; RCD Pasay Townhomes; RCD Villas De Imus, RCD Villas De Mambog, and RCD Villas Silverhomes.

RCD Land Inc. is the project development arm of the RCD Group of Companies. Delantar said RCD is also into property sales & real estate marketing thru the RCD Realty Marketing Corporation. The company's mission is to help every Filipino realize his dream of having his own home that is affordable but comparable to world class standards.
Aside from it being Delantar’s initials, RCD also stands for the company’s core business roles; R for real estate marketing, C for Contractor, and D for Developer. Delantar first established the RCD Realty Corporation in August 16, 1987 to market affordable housing projects and eventually ventured into the construction of individual housing units and small pocket developments. The anniversary celebration incidentally coincides with its founder’s birthday on the 15th of August.

‘Call Me Maybe’ is the Biggest Hit of 2012!

US President Barrack Obama, Manny Pacquiao, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, TheAbercrombie & Fitch models, Preview Girls: Solenn Heusaff, Anne Curtis, Georgina Wilson, Liz Uy, Isabelle Daza, Raymond Gutierrez, Jamich, PBB Teens, LuvU Barkada, and the UAAP Season 75 — What do they possibly all have in common? — A music video dancing and/or lip synching to Carly Rae Jepsen’s highly infectious tune, “Call Me Maybe”. If you haven’t heard this song yet then perhaps you’ve been living under a rock!

Canadian singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen rose to fame with her single, “Call Me Maybe”, claiming the No. 1 spot in the Digital Chart — the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital chart since Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in January 2010. It also recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and her landing in the cover of Billboard magazine last June 10, 2012 naming “Call Me Maybe” the song of the summer and the new sound of top 40.

“Call Me Maybe” has sold over 3.2 million singles and spent four consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Digital Songs chart. Certified quintuple-platinum in Carly Rae Jepsen’s native Canada (where it hit No. 1), the track is also an international sensation, climbing to No. 1 in the iTunes Singles charts in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and more. Moreover, it has also dominated Philippine charts, reaching No. 1 in local radio stations such as Magic 89.9, Love Radio 90.7, Big 91.5, RX 93.1, 93.9 i-FM, Mellow 94.7, 95.5 Pinas FM, 97.1, LS FM, 97.9 Home, 99.5 RT, 101.1 Yes FM, Tambayan 101.9, 102.7 Star, Wow 103.5, Energy 106.7 and Win 107.5 among others.
The irresistibly catchy song’s ascent is fueled in part by its videos. The official video has racked up more than 105 million views on VEVO, while an unofficial clip — which Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and other young stars filmed of themselves lip-synching and dancing to the song and posted on Big Time Rush actor and singer Carlos Pena’s YouTube Channel. It has attracted more than 42 million views and has inspired other stars get in on the action. Katy Perry, actor James Franco, the Harvard Baseball team, SMU Women’s Rowing team and more have all posted their own versions of “Call Me Maybe.” Joining in the fun is a parody of US President Barrack Obama’s speech which was cleverly edited to look as though he’s singing the song. At the same time, the video gimmick was picked up locally when Manila’s ‘IT Girl’ Solenn Heusaff also lip dubbed the song with friends Raymond Gutierrez, Liz Uy and Anne Curtis among others, making the video go viral online.
Carly Rae Jepsen may seem like a newcomer in the music biz but she has already scored two previous gold singles and received numerous awards, including 2010 Juno Award nominations for “Songwriter of the Year” and “Best New Artist” as well as a 2010 MuchMusic Video Award nomination for “UR Fave New Artist.” She has sold more than 400,000 singles in her home country. She is set to release her debut album this September. With all these accolades, indeed, “Call Me Maybe” deserves to be hailed as the BIGGEST HIT of 2012.

Also, a new single from Owl City entitled “Good Time” features Carly Rae Jepsen, will be released in the UK on September 9. Its music video already hit 4,350,462 as of this writing since it was uploaded last July 24 at YouTube. You can pre-order the new single from ITunes here.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut album will soon be available in CDs exclusively under MCA Music. Her mega hit single “Call Me Maybe” may already be downloaded at www.MyMusicStore.com.ph

ABS-CBN Philharmonic : Bringing symphony music closer to the Filipinos

In an effort to establish a connection between the general public and symphonic music, ABS-CBN, the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate, and First Philippine Holdings Corporation has established the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra.

Composed of 40 musicians, the orchestra is under the baton of music director Gerard Salonga and the guidance of executive director Mickey Munoz.
“We aim to bring live orchestral performance closer to the Filipinos and give them an option of what to listen to,” said Gerard Salonga.
To achieve this, the orchestra will be holding educational outreach programs that will give both kids and adults a chance to experience a medium that is considered as one of the highest forms of art. The project will consist of three categories: “Philharmonikids” will cater to grade school students; “Musicoveries” will cater to high school students; and “Philharmonic Discoveries” will be for the mature audiences that want to be acquainted with classical music.
Those who would like to watch the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra live can catch the inaugural concert at the BDO Francisco Santiago Hall in Makati on August 18 (Saturday). BuCor Iron Bar Chef Showdown Grandfinals

The Bureau of Corrections or BuCor, mandated to carry out institutional rehabilitation programs for the inmates.Their rehabilitation effort is to provide the basic needs of inmate as human being. The other steps in the rehabilitation process are the provision of work programs, health care, education and skills training, recreation and sports, religious guidance and behavior modification using the therapeutic community approach.

As envisioned, the BuCor is now being a modern, secured and professional correction institution which is characterized by a more responsive prison system that is geared towards the humane and spiritually guided rehabilitation of inmates, for their re-integration into the mainstream of society.

Gladly and luckily we witnessed one of the activities inside the Bucor Maximum Security Compound, a very lively Iron Bar Chef Showdown. I have witnessed the one cooking challenge last June 16 held at the Medium Security Compound. And last June 30, we were there to witnessed the grand finals of the cooking showdown, held at the Maximum compound.

Six groups compete, three from the Medium Compound and three from the Maximum Compound. They were named Team Sarap, Team Namit, Team Yum-Yum, Team Lolong Pogi, Team Planet and Team Uban.

They were given 60 minutes to the challenge to  create the dishes , an appetizer, the main dish and dessert. Each dish will be judged according to it’s taste, nutritional value and over-all creativity.

There were seven judges and one of them is Chef Gene Del Prado, an executive sous chef of Makati-Shangrila Plaza Hotel.  Prizes stake are P15,000 for the first place, P10,000 for the second place and P5,000 for the third place.

The event definitely served its purpose (and exceeded expectations) The Iron Bar Chef  Challenge was a great fun and we were given the chance to taste their masterpiece, the food was very delicious.

So all in all, a wonderful day. I hope to another tour in the near future, as I would like to delve into this more.

This is one great part of the Bureau of Correctional Director Gaudencio Pangilinan's rehabilitation program. As BuCor  offers a variety of inmate work programs and this is one great re-shaping an individual’s behavior and attitudes through the inmates’ community working together to help themselves and each other, restoring self confidence, and preparing them for their re-integration into their families and friends as productive members of the community.
