Tough Love : Touching moment with Joy, a touch of Olay

A super fun activity I enjoyed last March 5 at the Blue Leaf- Silk Pavilion in Taguig, with a beautiful and true fun celebrity. The trials of housework are highlighted and refreshed through Tough Love, an event that placed Mariel Rodriguez and members of the media in “tough” household situations, but with the aid of Joy with a Touch of Olay, a new dishwashing variant of P&G Joy.
Mariel and members of the media undergo four different household challenges, including chopping vegetables, squeezing lemons, opening bottles and cans through manual tools, and dishwashing.

Chopping Vegetables

Squeezing lemons

Opening bottles and cans

Dishwashing

All of these challenges simulated the experiences women feel whenever they do household chores.

These stations were also time-pressured to mirror the multi-tasking lives of modern women every day.

Joy with a Touch of Olay helps maintain skin’s moisture, making it all set for “touching moments” as we really feel we wave the softest hands even with the toughest jobs at home - dishwashing, ironing, doing the laundry and cleaning the house. Imagine doing all these things every single day, on top of your demanding career.

This is really - tough love. As we celebrate women’s month, lives and experiences of women are given more importance and thought. This includes the challenges of women everywhere when it comes to doing household chores.

Dishwashing can be a draining task. Just imagine coming home from a tiring day at work, seeing piles of plates on the sink, and getting your hands wrinkled and dry from cleaning the dishes. Joy with a Touch of Olay is especially formulated to help maintain the skin’s moisture while retaining the superior grease-fighting power of all Joy variants. It locks in moisture to create moments of pampering as one does chores.

“Joy with Olay strives to take care of women. It is formulated with Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps repair the skin and nourishes the hands by locking in the skin’s moisture. Joy with Olay does not dry the hands, making them “touching moment” ready,” says P&G Brand Communications Leader Anna Legarda.

Every dedicated and hardworking woman will appreciate even the littlest things that will comfort and pamper her. It helps even more to have a product that will indulge her even while she performs household chores daily.

Feel the difference that Joy with a Touch of Olay makes in your dishwashing routine.

As seen in Tough Love, housework will never be the same again because of Joy with a Touch of Olay. Women can do all the tough jobs, but still be “touching-moment ready”.

Enjoy washing everyone ! This is tough love!

Tune Hotels continues expansion in Philippines with Launch of Eight Property

Tune Hotels has continued its expansion in the Philippines with the opening of the 182-room Tune Hotel Ortigas. The new and affordable hotel,  the eighth Tune Hotel to open in the country in the last two years, is located along Shaw Boulevard.

Other Tune Hotels in the country are located in Angeles City in Pampanga, Ermita in Manila, Makati, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan De Oro and Quezon City.

Sahlee Zaldivia, country head of the hotel’s owner Red Planet Hotels said that there are two more Tune Hotels would open this year.

“By the end of 2014, we will have a total of 1,720 rooms with 10 hotels in the Philippines, cementing our position as the largest internationally owned and operated hotel brand in the country,” she said.

“Not only are we growing in numbers, but we have received a great deal of acceptance among the travelling public for the value for money that we provide,” she said further.

The first of the two Tune Hotels, which would have 200 rooms and open in May, is located in Aseana City, while the second hotel, which has 189 rooms and would be operational by November, is located along Ayala Avenue in Makati City

The expansion would allow the company to take advantage of the 24 percent growth in tourist arrivals projected by the Department of Tourism for 2014.

“We are fully committed to helping expand, and grow with the international and domestic travel industries in the Philippines,” Zaldivia said.

Red Planet Hotels chief executive officer Tim Hansing said they are looking for more sites to build new hotels in the Philippines.

“We see the Philippines as the perfect platform to drive the Southeast Asian expansion of Tune Hotels because of the country’s acceptance and embracing of new and inspiring brands that enable travel to the wider population,” he said.

“Our performance since opening our first hotel in Cebu and Angeles City in February 2012 have given us a great deal of confidence to expand further,” he added.

Tune Hotels was established in Malaysia in 2007 and currently has 41 operating hotels worldwide.
Tune Hotels is a sister company of Air Asia Airlines.

JDI partners with National Historical Institute to preserve and protect Philippine historical sites

NHI Solignum Interior Turnover
Historic places give background to great stories of triumphs, conflicts and challenges only made known through history books.

Just recently in Bohol, many heritage sites have sustained damage from the strong earthquake that hit the area in 2013.  Most of these damages are almost irreparable. Unknown to most people, many other historical structures suffer damages as well. From the structure’s wear-and-tear through time as an aftermath of water damage resulting to the growth of molds; influx wood-boring insects and the most common and most destructive, termite-infestation.

In 2007, Jardine Distribution Inc. (JDI) a known distribution company and Osmose Protim, the maker of Solignum wood preservatives, formed a partnership with the National Historical Institute (NHI) to protect the heritage structures from damages caused by termites.

Last January 24, JDI and NHI further capitalized on this partnership by joining hands in restoring the Museo ni Apolinario Mabini located at PUP Sta. Mesa.

As part of the repair and restoration done to the Museo ni Apolinario Mabini, Solignum Interior wood preservative was applied to the wooden structures to prevent a new termite infestation.  Apart from donating Solignum for the site’s restoration, JDI also trained the NHI curators on total termite solutions.

With heads and curators
“Our historical sites are tangible reminders of our identity as Filipinos. They re-tell stories of heroism and love for country that will inspire future generations of Filipinos. Because of their invaluable historical and cultural value, JDI has committed itself to help in their protection and preservation,” said Edwin Hernandez, President and General Manager of Jardine Distribution.

Jardine Distribution, Inc. represents a number of local and global companies that provide world-class crop protection and construction chemical products. They are focused on the safe use of these products, providing technical support, and with due consideration of environmental protection.

Yes, Giorgio! Brittany launches new home design in Amore in Portofino, Alabang

Real property developer Brittany Corporation launches Giorgio in Portofino, Alabang and had the blessing yesterday, January 26, 2014.
Joan Patricia Dial and Manny B.Villar
Amore, the 32-hectare Tuscan region-inspired enclave Portofino in Alabang, has a new offering that lets would-be residents indulge their passion for living: Giorgio, a home that combines comfy, cozy living spaces with an elegant, rustic Italian design—all built from the finest quality materials and craftsmanship.
Brittany has always been known for keeping at the forefront of innovation, and its homes in Amore are crafted with an eye for blending elements of timeless beauty with modern improvements suitable for today’s lifestyles and tastes.
Giorgio features the latest improvements from a previous design. The second floor balcony is now part of the master’s bedroom. Rooms have been maximized, resulting in airier, expanded spaces without sacrificing the overall aesthetic experience.

The result is that homeowners now have greater freedom to move around and enjoy the beauty and comforts of home.

Giorgio is just one of three elegantly designed rustic Italian homes in Amore, all of which are inspired by the rustic Tuscan region of Italy—the birthplace of the Renaissance, a time when human knowledge and artistic genius spread from Italy towards the rest of Europe, bringing forth legacies in science, architecture, and art that continue to inspire and put us in awe until today.

Amore is nestled in on prime, fertile, windswept terrain cradled by trees. It is accessible through three major road arteries. It is only seven minutes away from the central business district of Alabang and just 35 minutes’ drive from Makati.

According to Patricia Dial, Brittany's Marketing Head, the Italians’ passion for life and the legacy of the Renaissance provided the perfect inspiration for the design of Giorgio and the rest of the Amore property.

“We created the cluster concept to provide a rustic and relaxed environment for families to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Enjoying life with one’s family and friends is really a priceless experience. We made improvements in Giorgio and in the rest of the property to enhance this experience even more,” she explained.

Besides Giorgio, the house-types in Amore include Leandro, Tavola and Giorgio. Their floor areas range from 211sqm to 264sqm; available packages range from P14 million to P22 million.
These homes are arranged according to a unique feature developed by Brittany called Clusters. A Cluster is an assemblage of 4 single-detached residential units with a common treated driveway and a landscaped pocket garden. The landscape features promote a quaint, rustic and romantic ambience - providing a sense of community without sacrificing security and privacy.

Amore has first-class features and premium utilities designed for homeowners to enjoy the fullest living experience possible. For example, power and communication cables are installed underground so residents enjoy an unobstructed view of the landscape. There are perimeter fences and buffer trees that serve as the boundary between lots to ensure security. There’s also a 24/7 security system that safeguards the entire property.

Uninterrupted water service is assured by deep wells and water reservoirs while the entire community is kept clean and environmentally sound through regular garbage collection and waste disposal every other day. Overseeing the entire community is a professional property management team to make sure that Amore’s high standards of living and excellent security are maintained.

“With the improvements and amenities now in place, it’s the best time to come by Amore now and see for yourself the high quality of life possible when you make your home there—whether you are starting out in your new life with your family or are looking for a home to spend the best of your retirement years,” said Dial.

Brittany Corporation is a maverick real estate developer of innovative and creative lifescapes. Its eclectic and vibrant portfolio includes CrossWinds, Portofino, Georgia Club, Mosaic at Greenbelt, KL Mosaic at Legaspi, and Avant at The Fort. With master planned developments steeped in character, stylistic and thematic appeal, rich architectural details and excellent craftsmanship, it successfully and continuously reinvents the local real estate landscape.

LookHome Philippines Magazine: Expert help on achieving your dream home

LookHome Philippines was launched last November 19, 2013 during the “James Hardie LIVEvolution: Breaking New Grounds” event held at the New World Hotel Ballroom.

LookHome Philippines magazine, published by James Hardie.

Whether you’re planning a home makeover or about to build your dream home, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by a lot of questions. For example, do you opt for a condo or a house? How do you maximize small spaces? What colors should you use, and how do you tastefully mix and match?

On top of all this, you still have to make other decisions: what building materials should you go for? Apart from price, what other factors should you consider? How do you make your home more energy-efficient? What can you do to make sure that your family’s quality of life is improved?

James Hardie is the company behind HardieFlex advanced building composites, one of the leading building materials in the country. Driven by a strong sense of innovation, James Hardie launched LookHome Philippines so that readers are given access to an all-in-one resource that aims to give expert design advice and easy, practical tips on how to transform houses into homes.

The information in the magazine, sourced from top urban developers, architects and designers here and abroad, is meant to help readers better their homes and, ultimately, their lives. LookHome Philippines is a testament to James Hardie’s commitment to the design and construction industry so Filipinos are able to have the homes they aspire for, and to live without compromise.

“Regardless of what design style you favor, whether it’s minimalist or eclectic, your home – how it is built and what’s in it – should allow you to go through your daily routines with ease. It should suit your lifestyle, and be able to adapt to your changing needs. That’s the sort of living space that LookHome Philippines can help homeowners achieve,” said Liza Alde, Marketing Manager, James Hardie Philippines.

During the same event, James Hardie also launched HardieFlex® Flooring which is a versatile, durable and environment-friendly flooring substrate that is specially made for internal residential flooring applications.

James Hardie is renowned and respected the world over for its advanced, innovative, and environmentally friendly building materials. It has been in the Philippines for nearly two decades and operates a world-class manufacturing facility in Cabuyao, Laguna.

LIVEvolution™ - Evolving the way we live

James Hardie Philippines is the maker of HardieFlex, a name trusted by millions of Filipino homeowners. One of the company’s latest products, the HardieFlex Flooring was launched during the “LIVEvolution: Breaking New Grounds” event at the New World Hotel last November 19, 2013.

HardieFlex advanced building composites are durable, resistant to damage caused by moisture, fire and termites. HardieFlex advanced building composites are environment-friendly too.

At every aspect of life, the need to constantly evolve is ever-present: from our daily choices to our personal relationships to our career progress. Evolution, or simply change for the better, is also at the heart of how we define, construct and improve our own homes. While tradition may dictate that we should construct houses using age-old practices and conventional resources, modern breakthroughs have recently pointed to fast, cost-efficient and sustainable methods and materials.
Now, James Hardie is eager to formalize its vision of changing the way Filipino homeowners build and live through the new “LIVEvolution™.”

“’LIVEvolution™’ is a movement we started last year,” says Mark Sergio, James Hardie Philippines’ Sales and Marketing director. “Time and time again, we have seen how typical Filipinos would waste time and money in having their house built and rely on substandard materials due to lack of information. We strongly feel the need to educate them about options to challenge the convention and help them to live without compromising beauty and durability, and safety and comfort.

While “LIVEvolution™” is about better alternatives, it is also about being adaptive to the realities posed by living in the Philippines. For one, the country swings between scorching heat in summer and lashing rains during the wet season (yearly, about 20 typhoons enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility), which raises the need for homes that are built solidly against heat, water and weathering. Through intensive research and development, James Hardie constantly innovates to address these concerns.

“LIVEvolution: Breaking New Grounds” launching event at the New World Hotel on November 19, 2013.

“The newest innovation that James Hardie brings to the market is a flooring substrate that is engineered to stand the test of time,” says Daren Southwell, James Hardie Asia-Pacific’s New Products Technical Manager.

With more and more people living in condominiums where space is a constant issue, HardieFlex flooring can be used as flooring substrates for lofts, mezzanines and attics—additional spaces that can provide precious storage areas or living quarters. For single home-dwellings and apartments, HardieFlex flooring can provide a second floor and even be used for both wet and dry areas.

“Promoting ease of movement, functionality and comfort, these additional pockets of space can greatly enhance the quality of life of the residents,” says Southwell. “Needless to say, they also boost the investment they have on their condo units and homes.”

HardieFlex flooring is easy to lay out and install in an average condo unit or Filipino home. HardieFlex flooring gives a flat even floor and is diamond-trimmed to give smooth edges and square sheets for easy configuration in any type of space, it is sealed on all six sides with a special coating to make it resistant to moisture damage. As HardieFlex Flooring is a load-bearing floor, it has been rigorously tested to ensure it meets the requirements of the National Structure Code of the Philippines and the Australian Loading Code.

Alongside the launch of HadieFlex Flooring is the release of the maiden issue of LookHome Philippines, JamesHardie’s very own magazine that serves as a vital resource and source guide for builders, architects, designer, DIY enthusiasts and homeowners. “LookHome Philippines is in line with James Hardie’s commitment to helping Filipino homeowners to live without compromise by providing the latest information on innovations, technologies and materials in home construction and improvement,” says Sergio. “The articles will be at once informative and entertaining to give our readers a tool to making their dream homes a reality.”

Five Advantages for Homeowners using genuine Hardieflex

It’s no joke to build a home nowadays. You are not just building a shelter but a legacy and an inheritance. A home is your family’s safe haven—it’s where you make a lifetime of memories and enjoy each other’s company in peace and security.

As a homeowner taking care of your family’s welfare and safety, you need to be assured that the building material you’re using for your house is good enough; you need it to be strong against harsh weather, termites, and other potential causes of damage; and you need it to be durable and long-lasting. Your family deserves nothing less.

James Hardie, the company behind HardieFlex, makes “advanced building composites” as a better alternative building material for your home. HardieFlex advanced building composite is made from sand, water, cement, and cellulose fiber (fiber from radiata pine trees). This combination of ingredients creates a building material that is strong, durable, and long-lasting.

By choosing genuine HardieFlex advanced building composite, homeowners get several advantages in constructing their dream homes—without these turning into nightmares due to damage. The advantages of using HardieFlex include:

Long-term strength and durability. HardieFlex is designed to be resistant against the extreme weather conditions of the Philippines—floods, typhoons, strong winds, humidity and moisture, or dry, scorching heat; all of these may damage our homes.

HardieFlex is even resistant to damage caused by termites and fires. Even when exposed to flame, HardieFlex would not catch fire. For homeowners, these qualities of HardieFlex make it a very wise choice—it helps prevent added costs of repairs; stays strong and durable for years and years; and also helps assure the safety of loved ones in the home.

Commitment and presence in the Philippines. James Hardie has its own manufacturing plant in Cabuyao, Laguna that meets international standards. The plant’s world-class technology and quality control ensure that HardieFlex provides homeowners a durable, safe and enduring, quality home for years to come.

By investing in its own world-class facility in the Philippines, James Hardie is able to assure consumers that it is committed to the Philippine market. That commitment includes providing a constant supply of HardieFlex to consumers.
With James Hardie based in Cabuyao, Laguna, it can deliver HardieFlex to its network of distributors anywhere in the country. Homeowners across the nation are assured that HardieFlex is there for them, wherever and whenever they need it.

Guarantee of quality and warranty. The advanced building composite by James Hardie has a product warranty of 10 years that comes with a guarantee of high quality, long-lasting strength, and durability when installed as per the current installation guide.

When it comes to cheap imitations, only the distributor makes the guarantee—this is not good enough for families investing hard-earned money on their homes. If ever the imitation product is not true to its claims, it will be hard for a homeowner to run after the manufacturer—because the only link he or she has is a local distributor.

In the case of HardieFlex, it’s the manufacturer itself (not just a distributor), James Hardie, that provides the product warranty. And James Hardie is present in the Philippines as a locally registered firm under Philippine laws—just a phone call away from Filipino homeowners.

Quicker, more convenient customer service. Being locally based, James Hardie can cater to your needs as a homeowner--faster and more accurately. It has local consultants that are available anytime, anywhere in the country to provide product information and technical support.

This relieves you, the homeowner, of a lot of stress—the cheap imitators only have local distributors who can’t provide the same customer support. Homeowners can relax because they can easily contact James Hardie, the manufacturer--not just a local distributor.

James Hardie has 16 years’ experience in the country. James Hardie has been operating in the Philippines for 16 years. It knows your needs and that of your loved ones when it comes to building the perfect Filipino dream home.
