Cordillera vegetable farmers find an ally in Exalt 60 SC

Farmers on their way to discover a new insecticide by Dow AgroSciences, Exalt 60 SC, fortified with an ingredient called Spinetoram, effective in eradicating plant pests.
Cordillera farmers are touted to be some of the largest vegetable producers in the country, belying the fact that from time to time they need to grapple with the biggest challenge to their livelihood: the damages wrought by pests and plant diseases.

This explains why farmers and agriculture officials in the region continuously look for products that eradicate these pests without sacrificing the quality of their crops and increasing the costs of production.

To this end, Jardine Distribution Inc. (JDI) recently introduced the Exalt 60 SC, a powerful but economical insecticide that is specifically effective against the Diamond Black Moth.

Cordillera farmers are known as one of the country’s best vegetable producers, although sometimes faced with problems on pests and plant diseases.

Reiterating the company’s committment to helping local farmers eliminate such threats to their sustainable livelihoods, Sandra De Guia , Senior Product Manager, reveals that “the Exalt 60 SC is now aiding farmers in the Cordilllera region, especially in Benguet.”

The Diamond Black Moth is reportedly the most destructive insect pest in the world, especially for brassica crops such as cabbages, cruciferous vegetables, and mustard plants. Much of the damage to crops is caused by moth caterpillars tunnelling into the heads of plants such as cabbage and Brussels sprouts.

The Diamond Black Moth likewise causes the contamination of produce by pupating inside broccoli florets and cauliflower curds.

Manufactured by Dow AgroSciences, Exalt 360 SC was formulated to arrest this insidious process through its active ingredient called Spinetoram, the newest molecule in the spinosyn class. Spinetoram professes fast knockdown and good residual control of the Diamond Black Moth.

Cordillera farmers learn about Exalt 60 SC, an economical insecticide that can eradicate pest problems without sacrificing the quality and nutrients of vegetable crops.

While the Exalt 360 SC is considered a very strong insecticide, it is harmless to the environment and does not expose our local farmers to health hazards.

What’s more, reliance on chemicals as a control measure for the Diamond Black Moth may result in the development of resistance to many insecticides.

However, pests have no cross resistance to Exalt 360 SC, making it a very effective agent against pest infestation even after several years of use.

These Exalt 60 SC bottles guarantee a quick extermination and control of the dreaded Diamond Black Moth and other pests, without any health or environmental hazards, unlike other pesticides.

A winner of the 2008 US Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, the Exalt 360 SC is distributed by JDI nationwide.

Jardine Distribution Inc. (JDI) reaffirms their commitment to providing assistance to local farmers by introducing Exalt 60 SC to Cordillera farmers, as an aid in combating pest infestation, a daily threat to their livelihood.

Jardine Distribution Inc., a member company of Jardine Matheson Group, represents a number of leading brands in crop protection, local and foreign-made pesticides, plant growth regulators, hybrid rice seeds, and vegetable seeds.

Historic sites help define a country’s identity, allowing us a peek at all the triumphs and challenges that have made it a nation. However, through the years, many heritage sites suffer from damages wrought by modernization, natural calamities, and even by pests like termites and woodborers.

In their desire to contribute to the preservation of such historical markers, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and Jardine Distribution, Inc (JDI). continue its efforts in preserving historical sites

“We are happy that we are able to continue this meaningful partnership with NHCP. Solignum is all about preserving what we have so future generations can enjoy it or learn from it,” says Peachy Tiu, JDI Marketing Manager “Preserving our historical landmarks is our own contribution to nation building and our way of showing gratitude to the Filipino people for trusting Solignum all these past decades.”

JDI helps in preserving our cultural heritage by donating and applying Solignum wood preservatives to the structures to protect these from further deterioration.

Protect the foundations of your home to avoid problems in the future

Your house and your family’s health are at risk when you can spot termite infestations in your house.
Your house is one of your biggest investments, but turning it into a home is taking it to another level.

You might ask: what’s the difference between a house and a home? A house is the structure made out of walls and beams, while a home is a place where we feel the safest and is built out of love.

But how can you call your house a home when your family is not safe in it because of possible termite infestations? Not only your house’s foundation is at risk, but also your family’s health.

Termite infestation is a real problem that requires real solution to avoid cases like this.

An electric power tripping is a sign of serious termite infestation.

Protect your most prized investment with Solignum and Soilguard to avoid cases like this.

Termite infestation is a real problem that requires real solution. While we focus so much with wood preservation when termites are talked about, people don’t even know that some termites come from soil and it is also a must to treat our soil with termite solutions.

For six long decades, Solignum wood preservative has been the partner of Filipino homes when it comes to protecting our homes from termites, wood borers, and fungi.

Soilguard aims to protect your home from subterranean termites found in soil by providing lethal barrier that prevents them from entering the structure.

With its commitment in providing total termite protection, Jardine Distribution Inc (JDI) the distributor of Solignum in the Philippines is educating the market on the importance of total termite protection. The total termite solution is a reminder and a tool to homeowners that it is important to protect the outside of our home from termites as it is inside.

Preserve your wood by treating your soil with Soilguard and your wood with Solignum.

Soilguard, which is a support to existing Solignum products, aims to protect your home from subterranean termites found in soil by providing lethal barrier that prevents them from entering the structure. It kills any termites that comes into contact with, which is a cost-saving and efficient solution. Solignum wood preservative on the other hand helps protect and preserve the wood from the termites, wood borers and fungi.

Now that summer’s here, it is the perfect time to inspect your home for problems while we have a good and dry weather. If you see signs of possible infestation, get right to the problem. If not, it is still the best if you step up and prevent it from happening by treating your soil with Soilguard and your wood with Soligum.

Historical Bonifacio Trial House is new beneficiary of NHCP-JDI partnership

A sense of history and patriotism is nurtured not only by books but also by the preservation of historical sites like ancestral houses. These ancestral houses become tangible, real places where we can all learnthe lessons of history that will guide our present and our future.

This is why the NHCP is doing everything it can to keep these historical structures in good condition for future generations to visit.

Bonifacio Trial House built during 1889 at Maragondon Cavite

The latest beneficiary of an ongoing partnership between the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and Jardine Distribution, Inc. (JDI), is the ancestral house where the court martial of National Hero and Katipunan Founder Andres Bonifacio was held.

The house, built during 1889, at Maragondon, Cavite is being preserved through the joint effort of NHCP and JDI, with the use of Solignum wood preservatives and the technical training by JDI regarding wood preservation.

“It’s very challenging to be responsible for the preservation of these ancestral houses that are more than a century old. More than a hundred years is enough time for environmental conditions and stresses, including termites, wood-boring insects, and fungi, to do damage and weaken the wood. JDI and Solignum will continue to partner with NHCP to ensure proper preservation of these sites. Together, we value history and heritage.” said Peachy C. Tiu, Marketing Manager of Jardine Distribution, Inc. (JDI), distributor of Solignum wood preservative.

A glimpse of the fence and the marker erected fro this historical landmark

In partnership with the NHCP, JDI has donated Solignum Soilguard soil termiticide to protect the structure from the attack of subterranean termites. The wooden parts of the house will also be treated with Solignum wood preservative. JDI also extended technical training and assistance to the government agency. Tiu said that JDI’s main concern was to properly equip the NHCP to fulfill its mission of preserving the country’s historical heritage.

“We’ve all been to museums and we’ve read history books and watched historical documentaries on DVD or cable TV. But there’s something very different, very real, when you visit an ancestral home. When you’re there, history comes alive. You see greater meaning and value in the lessons of the past. We at JDI feel privileged to be able to assist in the NHCP’s mission,” she said.

Perimeter preparation is the start of soil treatment. Jess Claudio, Sales & Marketing Representative from JDI conducts on site training to the curator and restoration contractor of the historical Bonifacio Trial House.

Solignum was introduced into the Philippine market way back in 1895, so in its own way, the product has a shared history with the nation. Today, it has become the most trusted wood preservative in the market after decades of excellent performance and reliability.

With the ongoing NHCP-JDI partnership, future generations will continue to enjoy historical sites that preserve not only the structures themselves but the stories and insights that we all need to take to heart—so we can build a stronger and better nation.

Stop active leaks now with Waterplug

Nothing causes more panic than discovering an active leak in the house, like when rainwater starts leaking through cracks in the walls of the house, toilet and bath, or the basement. The leaks have to be plugged quickly or else there’s going to be a flood—not to mention damage to your house.

To plug and seal off these leaks quickly and effectively, it’s best to use a superior “cementitious” or cement-based waterproofing product that is quick and effective. For taking care of active leaks, Waterplug is your best choice.

Waterplug is a fast-setting, fast-drying hydraulic cement. Its advanced formulation allows you to use it even when the leak is ongoing. You can apply it even while water is streaming through a hole or a crack in cement or concrete because it can set even when wet. You can plug and seal that actively leak really fast because Waterplug sets in just three minutes.

Waterplug sets and bonds with the cement or concrete surface where it is applied. It will not get brittle or peel off, or otherwise be dislodged. Once set and bonded, Waterplug is very strong. It can withstand pressure of up to 1,500 pounds-per-square-inch (PSI); in comparison, an open fauces has 40 PSI.

Notably, Waterplug is non-toxic. It can be used even when in contact with drinking water—so it not only protects your home from damage caused by leaks but also assures the health of the family.

To learn more about Waterplug, call or text the Engineer Lunas Hotline 0920-910-2629 or go to www.jardinedistribution.com.ph

Essential tips to protect your family and home from water damage this rainy season

Jardine Distribution Inc. has a total solution for your waterproofing needs.  Super Thoroseal, Waterplug and Optimum Flex are cementitious waterproofing to help you in protecting your home from the damage of leaks.

In a tropical country like the Philippines, where we experience several months of monsoon rains, floods, and typhoons, it is essential to waterproof our homes to protect our investment and maintain the most important shelter for our family.

During rainy season, water damages houses and there are situations like leaks and moisture accumulation will make your precious home look ugly. Think of the dark stains that turn into “maps” on your ceiling, or the water marks in your bathroom. Second, leaks and moisture can cause costly, even serious damage like having your basement walls turn “sweaty” or even having “waterfalls” spouting from them because of leaks. Water accumulation in the house can even damage or peel off your flooring. Also, doors that get filled with moisture can swell-up to the point where they don’t fit door frames anymore. Moisture accumulation in the home can reach electrical wiring—flickering house lights may be a sign of this. That’s a fire hazard right there.

Here are some essential tips on how to keep our family and our house protected from water damage this rainy season.

Focus on prevention. Preventing water damage is always the better option than having to fix it when it happens. Effective prevention means using the right product to waterproof your home. Some people think that elastomeric paint is a good solution; however, it is a temporary one at best.

Elastomeric paint eventually peels off as moisture sets in the walls, ceilings, and floors. It becomes brittle over time and flakes or fades away. Another downside is that elastomeric paint is toxic—something that many homeowners don’t usually know about.

The total waterproofing solutions by Jardine Distribution Inc. are available in hardware and do it yourself stores across the country.

A superior alternative to elastomeric paint is a “cementitious” or cement-based waterproofing product. Such a product bonds with the concrete or cement surface where it is applied. It becomes part of the wall or the ceiling, or the floor. It does not peel off like paint. It does not crack or flake. If you’re waterproofing anything concrete or cement, especially, your best bet is a cement-based waterproofing product like Super Thoroseal.

Super Thoroseal seeps into and bonds permanently with the concrete or cement surface, effectively sealing even the tiniest pores or spaces so that moisture does not go through. Best of all, Super Thoroseal is non-toxic. It can even be used in swimming pools and be in contact with drinking water. Be sure to use Super Thoroseal to waterproof your toilet and bath, your firewall, and basement.

Super Thoroseal may be applied even on wet surfaces. Simply mix 1 gallon of Super Thoroseal with 1.5 liters water, then it is ready to use. It is strong enough to withstand extremes of temperature, weather, abrasions, and even exposure to environmental chemicals.

Plug active leaks ASAP. What if there are cracks on your concrete wall and the rain is pouring outside, sending water into your house? What you need is Waterplug, a cement-based product that immediately plugs the leak and seals the cracks— it is specifically formulated so you can apply it even while a leak is ongoing.

Waterplug is a fast-setting, fast-drying hydraulic cement designed to plug active leaks in concrete surfaces and structures (even concrete water tanks). Amazingly, Waterplug sets in just three minutes so you’ll have your leak plugged in such a short time.

Waterplug is non-toxic and very strong. Once it is set and bonded with the concrete, it can withstand a force of up to 1,500 pounds-per-square-inch (PSI). In comparison, an open faucet has a force of about 40 PSI. Waterplug can also be used to seal cold joints and even anchor bolts of gates and other fixtures.

Flexibility. Some parts of a house are more prone to experiencing movement or tremors—for example, a roofdeck, the upper floors and walls of a house, or a tall building. For such structures, it’s best to use Optimum Flex, a cement-based, flexible waterproofing product; its optimum flexibility keeps concrete surfaces sealed against water and moisture despite movement and tremors. Without such flexibility, an ordinary sealant would crack.

Optimum Flex is very easy to use thanks to its pre-packaged, pre-measured components. It’s composed of a powder and an emulsion that are simply mixed together without having to do any measuring anymore. It only takes a short time for Optimum Flex to dry, set, and bond permanently with the concrete surface. It may be applied in wet areas.

For real and effective protection against water damage, remember to choose cementitious or cement-based products like Super Thoroseal, Waterplug, and Optimum Flex.

Depending on which area of your house, building, or establishment you need to waterproof, these products provide superior protection.

Super Thoroseal, Waterplug, and Optimum Flex are distributed in the Philippines by Jardine Distribution, Inc.

To know more about these waterproofing products, call or text the Engineer Lunas Hotline 0920-910-2629 or go to www.jardinedistribution.com .

Defend your home against underground termites

Do you know about the invisible, silent destroyers that may be causing damage to your home? We’re talking about termites that cause major, permanent damage to your home if they are undetected. Every year, millions of pesos in costly damages happen to homeowners due to termite infestation.

Defend your home against underground termites. There are two types of termites: the subterranean termite and the drywood termite.

Subterranean termites live in a nest or colony underground. This colony may be near or some distance away but the termites will be able to reach your house through the underground passages they build.

Drywood termites, on the other hand, make nests inside the wooden structures of your house. Whether subterranean or drywood, both kinds of termites can damage your house. Of the two, it’s the subterranean termites that present a trickier problem.

Drywood termites can be eliminated by preserving and protecting the wooden portions of your property with Solignum wood preservative.   As for subterranean termites, they will continue to be a threat as long as they have access to your home. What’s the best way to protect your home against them?

The best way to defend against subterranean termites is to use an effective, convenient, and cost-effective soil termiticide, which is Hometrek from Jardine. Hometrek protects your house from the attack of termites by creating a barrier that blocks the termites’ passage.

Hometrek has several advantages. It kills termites who try to breach the soil barrier. Hometrek is also safe to use, having passed the FDA standards for environmental safety.  It does not contaminate ground water. Use Hometrek to protect your home from subterranean termites now.

How do you know when your house is infested with termites? It’s not so easy to detect their presence because they stay hidden inside the walls, foundations, beams and other wooden structures in the house. Once damaged wood portions of the house become obvious, it’s usually at a point where considerable destruction has occurred. There are some signs of termite infestation that a homeowner can look out for including:

Damaged wooden portions of the house.  Damage can be obvious: wood has gaping holes where termites have eaten through.  Sometimes, however, the damage is inside the wood so the surface looks fine. So you can knock on the wood and check for a dull thud, a hollow sound.

Mud tubes.  Mud tubes are passages that subterranean termites use to go from their nests to your home. You may see these mud tubes in the exterior or interior of your house.

Shed insect wings.  When you find shed insect wings around your house, it could mean that a swarm of termites has been to your house. It’s possible that flying termites have landed near your home and are going to build a nest.

When you suspect that your home is threatened by a termite infestation, be sure to use Hometrek and other Jardine products for total termite protection.

JDI’s state-of-the art products, solutions exhibited at CONEX

Solignum total termite protection from Jardine ensures that a house remains free of termites and terrible damage. Scale model was used to illustrate this at the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX) event.

Jardine Distribution, Inc.’s (JDI) very effective, safe, and conveniently applied products and solutions were showcased at the United Architects of the Philippines Convention (CONEX) held at the SMX Convention Center last April 10 to 12, 2014.
Peachy Tiu, Marketing Manager of JDI said that “this exhibition features only the most state-of-the-art products and technologies related to home construction, protection, and maintenance. That Jardine products were included speaks well of how advanced our products and solutions are, and how effective they are in delivering their benefits to homeowners.”

Solignum provides total protection against termites through an array of products that protect the interior and exterior wood portions of one's home, as well as wooden furniture. Solignum also has soil termiticides that, when mixed with the soil around the house, creates a barrier against underground termites. This total system was featured in the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX) event.
Tiu also revealed that homeowners can now get useful advice about termites, waterproofing, and home pest control through a convenient hotline number.

All that a homeowner has to do is contact the Engr. Lunas Hotline at (0920) 910-ANAY (2629). The hotline also provides information on the nearest hardware store or DIY shop where Jardine products and solutions are available
Sureseal waterproofing products were featured at the recently held United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX)event. Sureseal products offer protection against leaks in GI roofing, pvc pipes, gutters, and downspouts. It has strong adhesion and bonding properties to seal cracks and has an elastic formulation to prevent cracking.

“We are providing this hotline to give homeowners a ready answer to urgent needs in their household. A termite infestation endangers a family’s safety and the investment made in one’s home. Home pests like mice and mosquitoes, as well as roaches and rats, endanger a family’s health.

“Waterproofing also protects both one’s house and the health of loved ones—this is because leaks may potentially damage parts of one’s home and let in moisture that encourage the growth of germs and mosquitoes,” explained Nancy DG Pereyras, JDI Product Manager.

Super Thoroughseal was exhibited at the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX)event to showcase its quality and reliability when it comes to waterproofing firewalls, basements, toilets and bath, concrete water tanks, and even  fish ponds, swimming pools, and roofdecks. It is safe and not-toxic.
Sureseal Elastomeric Sealant by Jardine is best used to seal up cracks in GI roofing, pvc pipes, gutters and downspouts now during  the summer season. Doing so by the time the rains come is impractical and inconvenient. Superseal was among the Jardine products featured at the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX)event.

Engineer Lunas mascott of Jardine Distribution at the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX)event. Jardine Distribution launched its dedicated hotline for homeowners to call to seek advice about problems related to termites, home pests (ants, mice, rats, and roches) as well as waterproofing needs.
The Jardine Distribution booth at the United Architects of the PHilippines(CONEX) event showcased the high-tech, world-class quality products for total termite protection, waterproofing, and home pest control (for ants, mice, rats, and roaches.) CONEX only features products that have proven quality, reliability, and effectiveness.

JDI partners with National Historical Institute to preserve and protect Philippine historical sites

NHI Solignum Interior Turnover
Historic places give background to great stories of triumphs, conflicts and challenges only made known through history books.

Just recently in Bohol, many heritage sites have sustained damage from the strong earthquake that hit the area in 2013.  Most of these damages are almost irreparable. Unknown to most people, many other historical structures suffer damages as well. From the structure’s wear-and-tear through time as an aftermath of water damage resulting to the growth of molds; influx wood-boring insects and the most common and most destructive, termite-infestation.

In 2007, Jardine Distribution Inc. (JDI) a known distribution company and Osmose Protim, the maker of Solignum wood preservatives, formed a partnership with the National Historical Institute (NHI) to protect the heritage structures from damages caused by termites.

Last January 24, JDI and NHI further capitalized on this partnership by joining hands in restoring the Museo ni Apolinario Mabini located at PUP Sta. Mesa.

As part of the repair and restoration done to the Museo ni Apolinario Mabini, Solignum Interior wood preservative was applied to the wooden structures to prevent a new termite infestation.  Apart from donating Solignum for the site’s restoration, JDI also trained the NHI curators on total termite solutions.

With heads and curators
“Our historical sites are tangible reminders of our identity as Filipinos. They re-tell stories of heroism and love for country that will inspire future generations of Filipinos. Because of their invaluable historical and cultural value, JDI has committed itself to help in their protection and preservation,” said Edwin Hernandez, President and General Manager of Jardine Distribution.

Jardine Distribution, Inc. represents a number of local and global companies that provide world-class crop protection and construction chemical products. They are focused on the safe use of these products, providing technical support, and with due consideration of environmental protection.

Jardine Distribution Inc. turned its efforts to help schoolchildren affected by Typhoon Yolanda in Northern Cebu. In cooperation with the Department of Education, JDI distributed 15 tents in Northern Cebu to be used as makeshift classrooms.

Edwin Hernandez, President and General Manager of Jardine Distribution, Inc., explained that the company chose to focus on helping the children in Yolanda-affected areas after talks with the DepEd through Undersecretary Mario Derequito.

“Resuming the school activities of kids is really an important part of helping families and communities recover from the effects of the typhoon. By contributing in this way to the rehabilitation efforts, we are empowering communities to return to their normal way of life,” said Hernandez, adding that education is always a priority in the company’s CSR projects.

Previously, JDI also helped schoolchildren affected by Yolanda in Leyte. The company distributed a thousand learner kits to schoolchildren in Yolanda-hit areas. “Yolanda destroyed schools and swept away learning materials. The typhoon took away a vital part of the lives of so many children. We believe that by helping them resume their education, they will feel that there is hope, and they can move on to fulfill their dreams,” said JDI Marketing Manager Peachy Tiu.

“Jardine Distribution, Inc. Ph partners with DepEd to help children of Yolanda survivors “

Parents and schoolchildren in areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda are receiving an outpouring of aid and relief from all over the country and the world—and agricultural, construction, and home pests products distributor Jardine Distribution, Inc. is partnering with the Department of Education in doing their part to help survivors resume their normal lives.

“Undersecretary Mario Derequito of DepEd is right in pointing out that resuming the kids’ schooling is an important part of the rehabilitation and recovery process; this is why we have chosen to help in this area. Education has always been our priority when it comes to our social corporate responsibility projects,” said Edwin Hernandez, President and General Manager of Jardine Distribution, Inc. (JDI),
Schoolchildren in areas devastated by Yolanda now have a chance to resume education thanks to 1,000 learning kits and 120 tents—serving as classrooms provided by Jardine Distribution, Inc. in partnership with the Department of Education.

In cooperation with DepEd, JDI has released a thousand pieces of learner kits to schoolchildren in Yolanda-hit areas. Schools had been destroyed and learning materials swept away by floods and this has left children unable to resume their education. With the partnership between DepEd and JDI, these children have a chance to feel that life goes on after the tragedy—that there’s hope after the disaster.
The company has also provided 120 tents that will serve as classrooms for the children. “DepEd and we agreed that these learning kits and the tents are important for helping these kids resume their normal lives and to feel hopeful about their future. We are happy to have this chance to do our part in the rehabilitation efforts for these communities,” said Littaua.
“Besides the learning kits, we have also set up 120 tents in the areas that serve as the children’s classrooms. Having these kids come back to school and resume classes regularly is a way for communities to start over and feel a little more optimistic about their future after the devastation. These communities are survivors and they deserve all the help they can get to begin again and rebuild their lives. We at JDI feel privileged that we are given the chance to be part of the rehabilitation process. There’s still a lot of work to do and every little bit helps,” said Peachy Tiu, JDI Marketing Manager.
