Pour Yourself a Cup of Tea and Enjoy Justine Luzares' Funny TikToks
The comedy creator caught the attention of viewers on TikTok because of his impressive British accent.
Manila, Philippines - May 28, 2021 - TikTok has turned out to be the perfect platform for funny guy Justine Luzares to express himself creatively. He always knew that he wanted to write funny skits, but didn't consider becoming a comedian himself, until he started using TikTok. "I realized I can actually act the part," Justine shares. "We're on TikTok to have fun and be entertained. Putting smiles on people's faces is the easiest way to sell your content to people."
Apart from showing off his funny side, his videos also give him the chance to showcase his ability to put on different accents, a talent he learned from watching movies. He first tried it out after seeing the 2004 movie, Troy, which starred Brad Pitt and Eric Bana. He says, "It was a long process. I started learning it when I was still in 7th grade. It didn't happen overnight. It took quite a lot of movies just to somehow master it." Mimicking speech patterns of characters from the popular TV series, Game of Thrones, particularly Viserys Targaryen, also helped Justine refine his accent. Since then, he has learned how to do Indian and Australian accents as well.
Justine responds to a fan's request to do an Indian accent here.

Born and raised in Leyte, Justine actually has a degree in Agribusiness from Visayas State University, where he graduated Cum Laude. Currently based in Alabang, he works as a process trainer in the BPO industry, and does TikTok for fun. Among his videos, his Marites series has become his most popular, even reaching viral status on the platform. "I have received overwhelming support every time I post a Marites video, especially the ones you can duet," Justine says. "I guess people just found an excuse to showcase or just try a British accent through my videos."
Watch Justine's Chismosang Marites ala Pride and Prejudice, gossiping like a stereotypical Filipino neighbor, but with a British accent.

Viral Rico Blanco TikTok gets reimagined by producer/singer-songwriter raven
Rising producer/singer-songwriter raven teams up with indie pop artists Naila and somere on the new single “S.U.K.I.”—released today via Sony Music Philippines.
The lo-fi
jam, which was produced by raven and Rico Blanco, takes into account the pain
and longing of someone who gave his all, but failed miserably to mend what’s
left of the romantic relationship. Collaborators Naila and somere, who also
provided their lilting vocals to the insanely catchy bop, are also credited as
songwriters for this special project featuring different generations of
musicians.
Putting
together the entire song is interesting from a production standpoint, as it
started from a random challenge posted by alternative rock icon Rico Blanco on
TikTok, where he played a piano while beatboxing for others to explore with
either a rap verse or a vocal melody with lyrics.
Blanco’s
captivating
instrumental, which only lasted for a few
seconds, has racked up over 2.8 million views on the platform since it was
uploaded late last year.
Multi-instrumentalist
and singer/rapper raven took the challenge seriously and wrote verses that
sting with melancholic thoughts. The genre-bending artist shares in a
statement, “S.U.K.I. was actually based from my own personal experience.
I wrote it as a tribute to a young love that didn’t end up pretty well, despite
trying everything to make it work.”
Up-and-coming
singer-songwriters Naila and somere completed the musical narrative by writing
and singing their own verse on the rap ballad, giving the material a refreshing
perspective that complements raven’s bedroom pop treatment.
According
to 15-year-old artist Naila, her verse was lifted from a poem she personally
penned when she was in 8th grade. “It was when I finished reading a
book about a couple with a very tragic love story, I was so attached to it to
the point that I even made a poem using the female protagonist’s point of view.
I was scanning my old notebooks that time and saw the poem that I wrote. I
really wanted to make it into a song and then eventually, Sir Rico’s video
showed on my timeline, which gave me an idea of duetting on his video and
posting it in TikTok.”
It
took 16-year-old artist somere days to think of the words to “S.U.K.I.,” but
ended up with lyrics of her own that reflects an important phase in her life.
“Things became unfortunate, I had a very bad mental breakdown and words of pain
suddenly came out of my mouth. I decided to duet Sir Rico’s video, thinking
that maybe someone out there may be going through the same thing, and maybe I
can use my voice to give that person a nice warm virtual hug.”
The
collaborative ideas led to the low-key gem that is “S.U.K.I.,” which brought an
entirely confessional safe space for the artists to bask in their individual
pain and come up with a song that could inspire others to move forward and be
better.
Its music video,
which was shot in a lush greenery somewhere in Tanay, Rizal, features raven
enjoying his sweet time outside of the city.
raven’s
“S.U.K.I.”
is out now on all digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music Philippines.

5 Women Who Inspire and Empower Other Women Online and in the Real World
Antoinette Taus (@antoinettetaus)
Filipino-American actress, humanitarian, and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, Antointette Taus, is a long-time fixture in the local entertainment industry. Recognized as one of the most influential role models of the youth of her generation, Antoinette's main mission is to empower the youth to take the lead in the transition toward a future that is centered on the betterment of people and the planet—without leaving anyone behind. She founded the non-profit organization “CORA” (Communities Organized for Resource Allocation) and the purpose-driven business “The Sustainable Planet”, which are dedicated to creating sustainable programs and solutions to help solve global issues focused on hunger, poverty, inequality, mental health, plastic pollution, and climate change.
For Antoinette, in order to be supportive of other women, you must
first, be kind.
"Uplifting each other, being kind to each other, not judging each other. Just imagine, you don't even have to look for support if naturally we just always tried to either to be kind or uplift everything around us that women and the girls are doing." -- Antoinette Taus
Pau Kimberly (@paukimberly)
Self-love advocate, Pau Kimberly, uses TikTok as a platform to make others feel
better about themselves. In a lot of her videos, she encourages her followers,
the women in particular, to rise up after each fall. In Pau's content, one
powerful message that we all need to hear shines through - "You are
enough."
"We as a society are not yet used to women standing up for themselves, women that are strong and independent, women that are empowered, women that are not believing in timelines, women that are very career-driven. I use my platform to raise awareness that we shouldn't care about others' opinions. We as women are enough, and are worthy, in our own rights." -- Pau Kimberly
Veronica Limcaoco (@beloynica)
Veronica "Ron" Limacaoco is an active member of Girls Got Game PH (@girlsgotgameph), a non-profit organization that works to empower young women through sports. The group organizes roving sports camps in underprivileged areas throughout the Philippines. Here, girls can learn how to play different sports, which helps them build self-confidence. As a result, Girls Got Game PH actually helps to build our country's future, one self-reliant woman at a time.
Veronica believes that women must work together to empower one another.
"There's no one perfect way to do things, like we are all after the same goal - Women empowerment. We are just doing it differently, I might be doing it through sports but in the end we only have the same goal, and it's impossible for one person, one organization to do it all. So, the best thing to do is work together." -- Veronica Limacaoco
Nove-Ann Tan (@ihomeschoolph)
Homeschooling advocate, Nove-Ann Tan, is a hands-on homeschooling mom who also provides support for other homeschoolers. She has also authored two books, "I Homeschool: How to Homeschool Without Losing Your Mind" and "Happy Wife, Happy Life", and hosts a weekly podcast where she shares valuable insights and information about homeschooling.
For Nove-Ann, it is important to make other women feel that they are
not alone in whatever they may be going through.
"It's making a message that 'Hey, you are not alone, I am here.' Magtulungan tayo. Never be ashamed of your your weakness, of what you're going through, because you will never know, you'll be a blessing. May isang taong lang na mag-swipe sa TikTok mo, kahit na isang tao lang ang matulungan sa message mo, it would be very valuable." -- Nove-Ann Tan
Maica Teves

done each day to show support and encouragement towards other women.

Learn More About the COVID-19 Vaccine in the Philippines Through #VaccineAlamin : TikTok partners with the Manila City Government on this important COVID-19 vaccine education campaign
The COVID-19 vaccine is gradually becoming available around the world, and in the Philippines, preparations are underway for a vaccination program roll-out in the coming months. Vaccination plays a key role in ending the COVID-19 pandemic by preparing a person's immune system to fight the virus, should you be exposed. This potentially helps to reduce its spread within entire communities.
At present, the majority of Filipinos are still unwilling to receive the vaccine due to concerns over its safety, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey. This poses a challenge to the implementation plans of both local and national government units. To address this, the City Government of Manila has partnered with TikTok for #VaccineAlamin, a COVID-19 vaccine education campaign. #VaccineAlamin aims to boost awareness on the health benefits of immunization, and spread accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine to the public.
The #VaccineAlamin Campaign was launched via TikTok Live last February 22. During the event, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno provided an overview of what local government units are doing to support the nationwide vaccination program. According to him, their goal is not to force people to get vaccinated but instead encourage and help educate them, to enable more Filipinos to make informed decisions once the vaccination program is underway.
"Kaya nagkaroon ng doubt ang ating mga kababayan, dahil dun sa nangyaring isang bakuna na medyo nagkaroon ng masamang impresyon ang mga mamamayan. Pangalawa, 'yung mga misinformation about existing vaccines all over the world."
"I think it's more on talking to the people, kaya kami nagpapasalamat sa TikTok, because this is a set of audience, because of its demographics, if we can use this type of outlet, malaking bagay kasi 'yung tao directly makatatanong samin."
"Having TikTok nowadays, helps us. People are into it, so why not use it as a form of communication. Sa dami nang binabasa ng mga tao ngayon, sa dami ng pumapasok na impormasyon sa tao ngayon, kailangan maging catchy."
Manila City Health Officer, Dr. Arnold Pangan, also spoke at the launch event. He explained some important things that people need to know about the vaccine. Dr. Pangan clarified that, while the vaccine protects you from suffering from a serious form of COVID-19, it is still possible to get the disease after being vaccinated against it. This is why it is important to still take precautions such as physical distancing and mask-wearing.
According to Dr. Pangan, "You may still be infected with the COVID-19 virus, tuloy-tuloy pa rin dapat ang ating pag-iingat kahit social distancing, kahit wearing of mask, kasi it's not a guarantee. Pag nabakunahan ka na, ang maganda doon, you will be protected from having a severe form of COVID-19 infection."
Members of the TikTok community can show their support for the #VaccineAlamin Campaign by using the hashtag, and sharing creative content filled with factual information about the virus and the vaccine to boost awareness. Whether it is a skit, a song, or a dance video, as long as it helps spread #VaccineAlamin's message, it is sure to make a difference. Mayor Isko himself issued a challenge to TikTok creators to join the hashtag challenge in order to amplify the campaign. He said, "Create a video that will help inform others about #VaccineAlamin Campaign, i will copy it and tag you!"
TikTok values the safety of the entire community, and the #VaccineAlamin campaign is a great example for how the platform can be used to do good. Through its dynamic features like TikTok Live and hashtags, information dissemination becomes easy, enjoyable, and relatable, while still being meaningful and impactful.
As CNN Philippines News Anchor, James Deakin, who hosted the launch event, said, "It's such a pleasure to use this platform in a way that I never foresaw, but it is very effective. We just want to be able to reach out to as many people as possible. We'd like to thank TikTok for making this possible, for inviting us over here to share this information. As we keep saying, I hope it doesn't sound cliché, we're all in this together."
Learn more about #VaccineAlamin on TikTok, and help spread the word about the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19. Download the app on your iOS and Android devices today to get started.
