Century Park Hotel is home to Miss Earth 2018 delegates

Manila, Philippines– Century Park Hotel (CPH), one of the country’s distinguished Manila hotels known for its own brand of Filipino hospitality, is currently housing the Miss Earth 2018 delegates from the Water Group.

Century Park Hotel welcomes Miss Earth Philippines 2018 Goddesses (Water Group)

“Coming from different regions, we see a diverse mix of personalities, intellect and cultures, which makes them beautiful in their own way,” shared CPH General Manager, Anthony Tan. He added, “We had a chance to talk to some of them and I was pleasantly surprised with the advocacies they are supporting which goes beyond preventing use of plastic to protecting diminishing terrain as well.”

Carousel Productions, the pageant organizer, has partnered with CPH once again in its bid to support the organization’s enduring advocacy in promoting environmental awareness across the globe.

“Majority of the delegates are first-time visitors to the Philippines, some of them have not been even out of their countries until today which makes them homesick. Their time here is more challenging as they need to contend with the competition. We truly understand how it feels to long for familiarity so we at CPH are here to ensure that each one of them is well taken cared of and be comfortable right away,” enthused Mr. Tan.

The Goddesses of the Earth reflected the same sentiments. When asked, what resonated from them was the warmth of the staff and the welcome they received upon stepping inside the hotel. CPH was the perfect place to start in their venture outside their country as relayed by some of the ladies in the group.

Recently, CPH played host to the just-concluded National Costume Competition. The hotel will reprise its role for the Figure and Form Preliminary Judging (October 29, 2018). The international pageant will be held on November 4, 2018 at the MOA Arena.

Launched in 1976, the Century Park Hotel remains as one of the finest hotels in Manila. Jollibee’s latest ad showcases its best-selling crispy-sarap fries!

To highlight the crispy-sarap in every bite of its best-selling Jolly Crispy Fries, fast-food giant releases an ad that will get you rushing to the nearest Jollibee

“Malata” (limp) means a general lack of energy, pep, enthusiasm, and when used to refer to food, a lack of crunch, lively flavor, or interesting textures. For many Pinoy French fry-lovers, there’s nothing better than enjoying crispy-sarap right from the first bite, like with Jollibee’s best-selling Jolly Crispy Fries.

Jollibee, the country’s number one fast-food brand, recently released an online video that hilariously captures how unfortunate malata—especially in a traditionally crispy favorite—can be. With on-point comedic performances and crave-inducing beauty shots of the Jolly Crispy Fries.

By focusing on situations where malata just wouldn’t cut it, the video—conceptualized by creative agency Dentsu Jayme Syfu and brought to life by Makina Productions—shows a scene familiar to many Pinoy teens: a volleyball game.

In this scenario, the character is put under the spotlight for a highly anticipated shining moment, only to let the cheering crowd down because of her malata, lackluster performance. This dyahe moment serves as the perfect segue into the direct opposite of malata: crispiness served up in every bite of the Jolly Crispy Fries.

Made with 100% real potatoes and covered with special fries coating to make every piece extra crispy, Jolly Crispy Fries serve as the perfect complement to classic Jollibee favorites or as a flavorful, satisfying snack on its own. And with different serving sizes—even up to jumbo—it’s the best treat to share with the whole barkada while hanging out or whenever the craving for bite after bite of unforgettably crispy potatoes strikes.

“This new ad is a great way to illustrate the unique crispy-sarap kada bite goodness of the Jolly Crispy Fries,” said Kay Segismundo, Jollibee Senior Marketing Manager for Complementary products. “The funny scenario definitely captures the feeling when you get soggy, limp fries—it’s not fun and you end up feeling dismayed. Plus, malata fries don’t pack the flavor and the unparalleled enjoyment of snacking on crispy, golden, perfectly cooked potatoes. There’s truly nothing else like the Jolly Crispy Fries!”

Jolly Crispy Fries are available all day in all Jollibee stores nationwide for dine-in, take-out, delivery, and drive-thru transactions. Pick your preferred serving size from regular (P39.00*), large (P60.00*), and when you just can’t get enough, the jumbo (P72.00*)! You can also watch the wonderful ads on Jollibee’s digital assets: on Facebook and YouTube!

ABS-CBN International’s “The People’s Queen” reality show produces its first real beauty queen in Ms World Philippines Katarina Rodriguez

In just a week after Variety magazine announced it as part of its TV Fall line-up, ABS-CBN International’s The People’s Queen – the glamorous reality TV boot camp for beauty pageant hopefuls – has produced its first real beauty queen. Last weekend, cast member Katarina Rodriguez was crowned Miss World Philippines 2018 at the pageant’s coronation night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippines.

Rodriguez will represent the Philippines at the Miss World 2018 pageant in China this December. Aside from winning Miss World-Philippines, Rodriguez was also named Beach Beauty Challenge winner, Best in Long Gown, Miss Resorts World Manila, and Miss Blue Water Day Spa (along with Maureen Montagne). The exciting pageant and win for the 26-year old trended on Twitter in the Philippines:

Katarina struts confidently in the much anticipated ABS-CBN reality show, “The People’s Queen”, showing on TFC, Myx TV and Lifestyle Network globally this October and on Metro Philippines in November (ABS-CBN International).

PROUD MENTORS

Cecilio Asuncion and Voltaire Tayag, the two mentors for the beauy pageant hopefuls on The People’s Queen, are proud of all of their mentees and are ecstatic over Rodriquez’s win.

MENTORING BY EMPOWERING PHILOSOPHY:

Hosts-mentors CeCe Asuncion and Voltaire Tayag were confident that all of “The People’s Queen” female cast members – Michelle, Katarina, Nikita, Katrina and Jenny – are capable of winning a crown. Last weekend, the show produced its first winner in newly crowned Miss World Philippines Katarina Rodriguez. Catch “The People’s Queen” on TFC, Myx TV, Lifestyle Network in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Guam and Papua New Guinea this October and on Metro Philippines in November!

“Katarina’s win is a testament to the Filipina woman of the here and now,” said Cece Asuncion, Director of Slay Model Management, the world’s first all-Transgender model agency and National Director of Miss Supranational USA. He judged the Miss Universe 2017 pageant in Las Vegas and hosted this year’s Miss Teen USA pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana. “Katarina is someone who is focused, determined and knows what she wants and is unapologetic for it. We at The People’s Queen are very proud of her and we look forward to seeing her compete and support her candidacy at Miss World in Sanya, China!”

Veteran pageant journalist and trainer Voltaire Tayag said: “Underneath all that chiffon and crystals, lies Katarina’s unwavering determination, discipline and tenacity which won her Miss World Philippines 2018. At The People’s Queen, our philosophy is mentoring by empowering — empowered by one’s dreams, heart and mind. I’m very happy that Katarina took all that we’ve taught her and made empowered decisions. She wins not just a crown but she’ll continue to win in life with this attitude.”

This is what Rodriguez had to say regarding her mentors and experience: “The People’s Queen developed me with a holistic approach in competing for Miss World. Cece and Voltaire more or less gave me the answers on what a queen is, handing me on a plate the areas I should focus on. But they left it up to me to really make every angle my own. They are like super cool parents that aren’t so strict but you respect them so much that you want to really make them proud. When you get two professionals guiding you with their hearts and still let you be yourself, the gratitude you have makes it a bit easier to do the right things to win.”

Rodriguez continued: “I’d say the most important thing they taught me is that the secret to success in pageants is recognizing the queen in every other female. The People’s Queen created this environment where we weren’t competing with one another and that’s why we became lifelong friends. Cece and Voltaire reminded me to do the right thing.”

Executive produced by Olivia De Jesus, Jun Del Rosario, John-D Lazatin and Glenn Meehan, The People’s Queen will be seen globally on Myx TV (Myxtv.com) starting October 24; on TFC on cable, satellite, TFC online (TFC.tv) and Lifestyle Network on October 27 in North America, Europe and Middle East (October 28 in Japan, Papua New Guinea and Australia); and on Metro channel in the Philippines in November.

POWERHOUSE SINGER MARIA LAROCO GETS UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL ON HER X FACTOR UK JOURNEY

The X Factor UK teen contestant recounts her best moments at her homecoming celebration

Young power singer Maria Laroco comes home following week after week of sensational acts on The X Factor UK Season 15 airing exclusively on Blue Ant Entertainment. The budding superstar shared some of her biggest moments at a press event held at the Brickyard, Quezon City, where she also gave a special homecoming performance of her winning songs.

“My entire experience has been overwhelming,” Laroco said. “I’ve always wanted to sing at the X Factor UK. It’s my biggest dream, and being able to join the contest is already a huge achievement for me. I’m very happy to be given a chance to perform in front of the British audience, and especially Simon Cowell.”

The 17-year-old first made headlines when she wowed all four judges and the audience at the Wembley Stadium with her stunning rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” during the live auditions. “I still couldn’t believe that I got four yeses from the judges. It was very surreal! I never expected to get a standing ovation from these really big people,” Laroco said about her audition.

Laroco won a spot in the Six Chair Challenge with Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night” that left international star maker Cowell wide-eyed with excitement. She almost lost her seat to another contestant, but was called back amidst popular demand from the crowd. The teen singer had to fight for her place once again when Cowell asked her to do a sing-off with another contender. It was a tough moment, but she managed to pull through by singing her audition piece, “Purple Rain.”

“That, vocally, was just like a different class,” The X Factor UK judge and One Direction member Louis Tomlinson couldn’t help but exclaim afterwards. Cowell was convinced and decided to keep her among the final six contenders under the “Girls” category.

The X Factor UK contestant shared how proud she was to be one of the many Filipino participants who won hearts from fans both in the UK and around the globe: “It feels incredible to represent our country,” Laroco said. “This contest really gave me an opportunity to raise our flag and show how talented Filipinos are.”

She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all her supporters at the X Factor UK. “I wouldn’t make it this far without everyone who cheered for me. Thank you so much for believing in me,” the young talent said. “I’ve learned a lot from the competition, and I’ll continue to work hard to make my dreams come true. Please continue to support me. I promise to have more in store for all of you in the future.”

The X Factor UK S15 continues every Sunday and Monday, 7:55PM (6:55PM JKT/BKK), same day as the UK, first and exclusive on Blue Ant Entertainment, available on SKYcable channels 53 (SD) and 196 (HD), SKYdirect channel 35, Destiny Cable channel 53, and Cablelink channels 37 (SD) and 313 (HD).
