Globe myBusiness, Google collaborate on “DigPH”, 1st digital marketing convention in the Philippines for SMEs

Globe myBusiness and Google have teamed up to help small and medium-sized Filipino enterprises grow via the first Philippine digital marketing convention for SMEs. The event, dubbed “DigPH”, brings together over 350 entrepreneurs on April 22 at Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

Martha Sazon, Globe Senior Vice President for myBusiness, said: “Globe believes that SMEs are the country’s economic driving force. That’s why we continuously develop products and services crucial to their growth and sustainability. Through DigPH, we’re giving business owners another innovative way to do business more easily. We’re providing insights into effective digital marketing strategies that will allow them to reach to new customers. We are also sharing affordable techniques to understand customer behavior and build their brand online.”

Google and Globe myBusiness together with Globe Digital Advertising (AdSpark), came up with DigPH in response to recent research showing the overwhelming desire of SMEs to adopt smarter and more affordable marketing strategies to increase sales and customer engagement.

However, for a typical Filipino SME owner, marketing remains a challenge due to tight budgets and a lack of information. While digital marketing is a compelling channel to engage customers, many business owners do not know where to start and how to maximize the returns on their investment.

On the other hand, Filipino consumers love using the web for both work and play. On any given day they turn to the web to shop, watch movies, listen to music, do research, or catch up with friends on a whole host of devices.

DigPH aims to bridge the gap between consumers and SME brands by equipping businesses with the know-how to reach their target market through digital marketing. Participants will learn from industry experts and SME owners in the country who are successfully using digital marketing techniques to expand their business as well live product demos and practical tips for success on digital.

Among the speakers lined up for the full-day event are: Google Philippines Country Manager Ken Lingan, GroupM Digital Head Laurent Goirand, Globe myBusiness Marketing VP Barbara Dawn Dapul, Adobo Connection Founder and Director Jerome Uy, FourEyes Co-Founder and CEO Pavan Challa, DirectWithHotels CEO Emiliano Zulberti, Diamond Rent-a-car Operations VP Quincy Buenaflor, and AdSpark Strategic Accounts Sr. Manager Mark Siggaoat.

In addition, there will be a panel discussion with Google Southeast Asia Channel Sales Head Matthew Heller and Gopher Group COO Talei Wood, to be moderated by AdSpark Director Bela Gupta D'Souza. To learn more about DigPH, visit www.dig.ph.

Globe Digital Advertising, Mobext, and IDDI bring Beacon technology in the country

Revolutionizes in-store shopping experience using mobile devices

Globe Telecom, the leading telecommunications network, joins forces with Mobext, the country's first pure-play mobile marketing agency, and In-Store Digital Display International (IDDI), a technology-based information marketing company, to bring Beacon technology in the country, which will provide a more unique in-store shopping experience using mobile devices.

"Studies show that more than 95 percent of transactions worldwide are still made in physical venues. In addition, more than half of consumers visiting stores have smartphones, and that number is growing rapidly in the Philippines," shares Bela Gupta D'Souza, Globe's Mobile Advertising Head.

"We have listened closely to the requirements of our clients and by introducing Beacons in the market, we are confident we can help brands reach target customers in their "last mile" of purchase. By delivering in-store notifications to smartphones all the way down to an aisle level, Beacons will enable retailers to establish one-to-one connections with shoppers, be it as rewards, coupons or product information. We couldn't be more thrilled to partner with Mobext and IDDI to bring this technology to the Philippines and we are already seeing a very positive response from top retailers in the country, including Globe stores nationwide," she added.

Beacons are a low-cost, battery-friendly hardware device that attach onto a wall or shelf in an aisle. Through the use of a low-energy Bluetooth wireless connection, Beacons can send messages or prompts to smartphone users who are within a 5-inch to 200 feet radius of the device. Beacons are already being used in the retail industry to push loyalty points, display ads, coupons and product information in-store, but they are also poised to transform how event organizers, enterprises, and institutions communicate with people indoors.

"This partnership will build the largest location-based marketing or "point-of-sales" mobile marketing network in the country. IDDI, with close to 1,000 screens across the country, will give Beacons extensive footprint when it comes to penetrating major retail locations", says Arthur Policarpio, CEO of Mobext Philippines.

"Globe, as the smartphone leader in the market, will give us enviable scale when it comes to acquiring our user base and we are also tapping Globe's strong retail partnerships to widen the Beacon network in the Philippines. Mobext, with its expertise in mobile technology and strategy, will provide long-term solutions for retailers and brands who want to incorporate Beacons in their marketing", he added.

"IDDI is pleased to partner with industry leaders Globe and Mobext in this pioneering beacon rollout as the our first digital-out-of-home advertising platform offering of the group. This complements the existing in-store digital display network of IDDI in over 300 stores and will definitely provide added value to our partner retail chains. This will also enable advertisers to engage with consumers thru contextually relevant content on a one-on-one basis at point-of-purchase. And of course, ultimately, consumers win not only because they receive brand content that is relevant to them but also because they have the opportunity to participate in the universal rewards program that is built-in to our beacon system" says Bingo Soriano, CEO of IDDI, Inc.

Globe Digital Advertising is exploring to offer the Beacon technology to some of the partners of IDDI. For more information on Beacon technology, please contact any of the partner representatives: Aaron Carreon of Globe at zabcarreon@globe.com.ph, Raymon Cayabyab of Mobext at mon.cayabyab@mobext.com, or Bingo Soriano of IDDI atbsoriano@iddi-group.com

With Globe myBusiness, entrepreneurs can make Wonderful happen for their own businesses

Globe myBusiness is providing business owners and their SMBs new products, services and solutions that help them rediscover a world full of possibilities, opportunities, and brighter tomorrows.

It's one where business owners and their SMBs are able to do business with greater ease, with more efficiency at less cost, and attain sustainability and growth.
"We launched Globe myBusiness in support of business owners and their SMBs. We call it 'Globe myBusiness' as we endeavor to serve the owners and their businesses as if they were our own. It reflects the level of service we provide which is highly personalized and targeted. We are not a mere network provider to them but their business advisor in the most real sense.

"At Globe myBusiness, we listen to our customers’ needs and help them customize a suite of solutions and services designed to address their specific requirements. Globe myBusiness' differentiator is the ability to understand and deliver on the needs of business owners and their SMBs in a way nobody else can," said Martha Sazon, Globe myBusiness Head.

Martha Sazon, Globe myBusiness Head
Sazon pointed out that business owners and their SMBs are a very "sophisticated" market. They know what they want and how to get it. "It all comes down to fulfilling our promise to business owners and their SMBs - that through our team we can make their businesses better by helping them maximize our services. It's ultimately about being a trusted business adviser and constantly delivering on that," she explained.

One perfect example of how a partnership between Globe myBusiness and business owners and their SMBs can produce beneficial results is the case of restaurateur Happy Ongpauco. According to her, she is able to live a wonderful personal life while growing her business. And she has Globe myBusiness to thank for. As a result, she’s been a loyal Globe subscriber for 20 years already.

Happy still remembers the wonder she felt when she got her very first cellular phone from her dad. It was a postpaid handset from Globe. At that time, when cellular phones were not as common as they are today, the instant connections that Globe provided her added a different dimension to her life.

Happy Ongpauco
“Communication between family and friends became so much easier. And when my managers and staff got their own cellular phones, running my restaurants became more efficient. I was able to save on operating costs as we could exchange information more quickly and make decisions faster. We were also able to cut-down on the time and cost of transportation because face-to-face meetings became unnecessary in many cases,” said Happy.

Happy comes from a family of restaurateurs—they own the Barrio Fiesta Group of companies. She learned the ropes of running a restaurant by working in her family’s various outlets, which include Barrio Fiesta, Bakahan at Manukan, Singing Cooks and Waiters, Atbp., and Isdaan. She also studied to become a chef at the Culinary Institute of America.

So it was no surprise when she started her very first restaurant, World Topps, in Timog Avenue, Quezon City in year 2000. She had to borrow money to turn a 60-square meter space into her first restaurant concept which was all about serving global cuisine as rice toppings. In 2011, she opened a second World Topps branch and also a new concept restaurant, Bento Box.

Happy’s other businesses include three other restaurants: Hawaiian Bar-B-Que, Pamana Restaurant, and the I Luv Backyard BBQ joint. She also established the Chef Happy’s Home Made Specialties and Catering Kitchen, and My Happy Carts, which are themed food carts for kiddie parties. Those interested in availing of the services of any of Happy’s businesses should visit the website http://www.happyconceptgroup.com/

Despite having her own restaurants, she is still involved in the Barrio Fiesta Group. These past two years, she’s been busy with opening and taking charge of two Barrio Fiesta branches in Dubai, and one in Canada. She will open another branch in Qatar by the first quarter of 2014.

Happy has also expanded from the food business into the travel and tourism sector. She established The Boutique Bed & Breakfast, a seven-bedroom boutique hotel in Tagaytay. More recently, she put up Slim At Home, a mobile slimming clinic and spa that offers home services to clients. All of these enterprises are operated under the umbrella of her Happy Concept Group of Companies.

According to her, she has enjoyed the benefits of a wonderful life through the advantages that Globe myBusiness has brought to her businesses. “Thanks to the innovative and relevant products of Globe myBusiness, it’s much easier for me to run my business while also having the time and energy for my family and personal hobbies.”

Happy explained that her businesses benefitted greatly from the package of customized services that Globe myBusiness helps create for them. “The MySuper Plans that we got from Globe myBusiness help me, my managers, and my staff keep in touch constantly. In our businesses, we have a lot of people who use their mobile phones differently. Some rely on texting most of the time. Others need to make a lot of voice calls. And then we have people who need to use their smartphones for Internet browsing.

“The good thing about MySuper Plan is that we can choose different packages of features and services for the needs of different people in our organization. And because we only pay for the services we actually need, we are able to bring our telecommunications costs down.

Happy pointed out that Globe myBusiness provides her with 24/7 access to after sales support and customer service. “We’ve also been getting advice about Globe myBusiness products and services through various touchpoints. I get all these through our dedicated Globe myBusiness account manager, or via Globe Stores, the hotline, website, Twitter or Facebook.” Happy has also been doing transactions with Globe online, whether for purchasing products and services or paying their Globe bills.

“I just love the way I am able to access Globe myBusiness whenever, wherever and however I want.” she said. “For me, Globe myBusiness consistently delivers its promise. I can always count on them to help us with both our personal and business needs. I can truly say that they are our trusted business adviser," she added.

Project Wonderful with Globe Telecom

Globe Telecom kicks off 2014 with a reinforcement of its commitment to better serve its subscribers, businesses, and the nation.

The Project Wonderful was presented to the media and guests last Wednesday, February 19 held at The Globe Tower in BGC Taguig.

Kris Aquino, CEO Ernest Cu, COO Gil Genio, & chief operating advisor Peter Bithos

The Wonderful World with Globe event showcased and highlighted exciting and wonderful possibilities and experiences for consumers, suppliers, partners, business groups, and enterprises with booths headlined with Serve, Collaborate, Experience, Grow, Delight and many more that represents the wonderful projects, commitments, and services that Globe gives to their customers.

Project wonderful world event was so full of fun, games and raffle prizes. Major prizes includes one (1) unit of Nokia Lumia, one (1) iPad mini, and a trip to Singapore.

Five guests won the Creative T-shirt Design and they received Sodexho shopping gift certificates from Globe. One of the winners is Ian Bacungan of Rogue Writer and member of PB Network.

The program , dubbed as Project Wonderful, was launched after the Philippines was hit by typhoon Yolanda, prompting the telecommunications company to proactively take part in nation-building initiatives through its Bangon Pinoy disaster response and relief efforts.

This paved the way for Project Wonderful to branch out to three main pillars: Nation-building, Culture-building, and Brand-building, giving Globe a holistic view on helping stakeholders build and discover a "wonderful world" in a form that is relevant to them.

First, under the Nation-building pillar, Globe is set to build a resilient Philippines with programs that will rebuild homes and schools as well as provide livelihood opportunities, while bringing together individuals and groups who share the same spirit of selfless giving.

"Through Project Wonderful, Globe Telecom aims to create a wonderful world for families and underprivileged Filipinos who have been affected by natural calamities and disasters," said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, who stressed the importance of sustainability.

"We are in it for the long haul, together with our partners and employees, who share our advocacy and spirit of volunteerism," added Cu

For the second one to take an active role in nation-building, Globe recognizes that mobilization starts from within, bringing to life the pillar on Culture-building. Under Culture-building, Globe is shaping up to become a more customer-centric organization, fueled by a common passion to help and live a culture of service guided by its renewed mission, vision, and values.

"We want an organizational culture with an innate caring for our customers because the challenge of service differentiation will have to come from our ability to go the extra mile. This will guide how we do our business and help us make things wonderful for our customers and for each other, the Globe way." added Cu.

And the third program under Brand-building, the telco will pioneer products and services anchored on four consumer brand pillars: customized and personalized offers, services to help live the digital lifestyle, a stronger and faster network, and a rewarding Globe experience.

In 2013, Globe generated total revenues of P90.5 billion, a 9 percent increase from P82.7 billion in the year prior, underpinned by continued demand for data connectivity across its mobile, broadband, and fixed line data businesses. Mobile revenues grew 8 percent year-on-year to P72.8 billion compared to prior year’s P67.2 billion, owing to the sustained leadership of the postpaid segment with high-quality postpaid subscribers. Broadband and fixed-line data segments booked robust revenue gains of 20 percent and 13 percent year on year, respectively, attributed to rising demand for data and Internet connectivity.

Globe Business Head Martha Sazon: Building partnership with Filipino SMEs

Globe Business – Small and Medium Business Group Head Martha Sazon believes that a true partnership with SMBs means acquiring the same visionary perspective that entrepreneurs have. This, she says, is all-important because the business solutions they offer are meant to help fulfill each SME’s vision for the future.

“Here at Globe Business, what we are really offering SMEs are the tools to make their visions a reality. Every business starts out as a dream, as a vision of what could be. Does the client envision a chain of retail shops? Or is the vision about exporting Filipino delicacies to an  overseas Filipino community?

“What we’re telling SMEs is this: ‘You’ve already envisioned the future. You already saw the possibilities. Now, let us, let Globe Business help you make those possibilities come true—and even help you discover new possibilities to come.’ That is what our partnership with SMEs is all about,” said Martha Sazon, Head of Globe Business. Sazon, whose background includes top sales and marketing positions in multi-national companies before joining Globe Telecom, is in full-throttle when it comes to implementing the goals of Globe Business for SMEs.
Her priority nowadays, she said, is the completion of various upgrades to the existing Globe Business Plans and offers for SMEs.
The present thrust of the upgrades in Globe Business services and products for SME’s is threefold:  a) Customization; b) Cost-effectiveness; and c) Value Added offerings.
Globe Business plans, like the My Best Ever Globe My Super Plan for Business, all have a suite of features and services that an entrepreneur can mix-and-match to suit his needs. Does he need unlimited mobile Internet to do business?  Is he more reliant on text messaging? Or do his business partners prefer mostly voice communications?
Globe Business plans are also cost-effective. They are available in a range of postpaid and pre-paid plans that fit an entrepreneur’s budget.  “We really go out on a limb to ensure that we keep our plans affordable while still empowering entrepreneurs with maximum features they need,” said Sazon.
Then there’s the Value-Added part of Globe Business thrust for the SME market. Sazon explained that they achieve this by offering booster features and services and by bundling plans with the latest, state-of-the art gadgets.
“Our plan boosters add services and features to an SME’s existing plan. All that’s needed is a minimal top-up fee to their regular monthly fee. These boosters may include unlimited voice calls, texts, or mobile Internet services.  As for the gadgets, we make sure that we offer only the best gadgets that they can use as business tools: state-of-the-art, reliable, multi-functional, and of course, always connected to the wireless communications grid, including mobile Internet. We also make it very easy to get gadgets on an installment basis or at great discounts. We do all of these because we take our commitment to SME’s very seriously. We are their partners and their growth and success is our mission,” she said.

Globe Business is first in Asia to achieve MEF CE 2.0 certification

Globe Business has established yet another industry milestone as it becomes the first in Asia to earn the significant Metro Ethernet Forum – Carrier Ethernet (MEF CE) 2.0 certification on March 20, 2013, elevating its status as among top service providers worldwide which can now deliver added benefits to its customers by matching enterprise users’ application performance needs to MEF services with specific service-level agreements (SLAs).
Head of Globe Business Jesus Romero lauded the company’s latest accolade, noting that "being the first not only in the Philippines but in Asia to receive certification for Carrier Ethernet 2.0 is not only an important achievement for us but it also augurs well for the local ICT industry. It reflects our company’s genuine commitment to deliver world-class and best-in-class services to our customers."
As the pioneer of premium-grade corporate solutions in the country, Globe Business is presently the only Philippine and Asian service provider, and fourth in the world, to achieve MEF CE 2.0 certification with its point-to-point E-Line (EPL and EVPL) and multipoint-to-multipoint E-LAN services, strengthening its Ethernet services’ MEF 9 and MEF 14 certifications or MEF CE 1.0 which define Ethernet service functionality and service performance, respectively. These accreditations enhance the company’s end-to-end service Operation, Administration and Maintenance (or OAM) capabilities for the three-level Class of Service and Tier 1 service performance as they make Globe Business Ethernet services the best choice at world-class standards.
Its next generation MEF CE 2.0 also extends the original purpose of Carrier Ethernet with added vital features, including easier interconnection with global Ethernet providers and partners for multiple standard service types as well as enabling new levels of efficiency for mobile backhaul.
Globe Business Head of Enterprise Segments Grace Castillo assured that “with our MEF CE2.0 certified services, we can deploy our products and solutions much faster, provide guarantee to customers of globally-compliant services which will work seamlessly with their network and allow end-to-end visibility to perform faster issue identification and resolution as well as ensure SLA delivery.”
“What this means in terms of Classes of Service is that our customers can run multiple and critical applications while we assist and support them in prioritizing which ones can pass through Ethernet traffic. Likewise, we can conduct non-intrusive tests with added testing parameters leading to quicker turn-around time in pinpointing issues and resolutions, less service downtime, ensure SLAs and improve after-sales support. This gives them a definite advantage when subscribing to our MEF CE 2.0-certified Ethernet services,” she added.
Meanwhile, Globe Business Head of Business Products and Services Francisco Claravall confirmed that “this accreditation from a global-certifying IT body is actually the result of the hard work and commitment put in by our Data Network Planning and Engineering, our Product Management team, as well as our colleagues from Tellabs and Iometrix through extended days and nights of continuous, round-the-clock assessing and resolving issues during the course of the certification tests. Our synergies were focused toward the collective goal of giving the country its first MEF CE 2.0 certified-service through Globe Business.”
Already, Globe Business customers have commended its move to take its Ethernet services several notches higher, as attested by a long-time client and local insurance giant Philamlife: “We’ve known Globe Business to be at the forefront of innovation in the Philippines.  Being the first locally to be MEF CE 2.0 certified and, better yet, in Asia, is a breakthrough not only for the company but for the country as well.  This demonstrates that the Philippine telecommunications and ICT industry are moving ahead, with Globe Business leading the way,” said Nilo Zantua, Vice President and Head of IT Infrastructure of PhilamLife.
Romero commented: “We believe that more than just an accreditation document, this acknowledgment from a global certifying body will translate into tangible benefits that our customers will feel and will be delighted about:  simpler and faster deployment as well as standardized services that offer them more choices, giving them more reasons to be with Globe Business over and above any other provider.”
Being a non-profit organization, MEF sets global standards on Ethernet services in terms of reliability, speed and SLAs and promotes worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.
With the recent conferment of the MEF CE 2.0 certification, Globe Business revalidates its MEF 9 and 14 compliances as it tests its network’s capabilities for Service OAM for end-to-end management outlining three levels of Class of Service: low, medium and high, and conducts a more rigid performance analysis based on MEF-defined performance objectives and performance tiers which the company convincingly excelled-in for all of its Ethernet services.
