LG Makes its Mark in Mindanao

LG Electronics, in keeping with its tradition of giving back to the community, recently paid a visit to The House of Hope in Davao.

The House of Hope Foundation, located inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center compound (SPMC), is a charitable group that provides temporary shelter to children with cancer. SPMC is the only hospital in the whole of Mindanao that offers free cancer treatment to children. Since a large majority of its patients are indigent families with no place to stay while they are undergoing treatment, the House of Hope provides a sanctuary for them.

On March 28, 2019, LG Philippines visited the brave families of the House of Hope. LG brought with them donations in-kind to improve the quality of life of the House of Hope’s residents. This includes over 27,000 various personal care products such as body wash, soap and toothpaste items, 5 43” Full HD TVs, 28 Dual Inverter Airconditioning units, 2 Top Load Washing Machines, and 2 Side by Side Refrigerators. The donations hope to help in making the environment conducive to the children’s recovery. LG Electronics Philippines Managing Director Inkwun Heo led the team that visited the children in Davao. “LG remains committed in creating social impact and being agents for change. These brave children serve as our inspiration. We hope that through our small gesture, we are able to enhance their quality of life”.

Giving back to the community has always been the heart of LG’s core values. Earlier this month, LG also partnered up with Emcor to conduct a small series of medical missions in Mindanao. Dubbed as #LGFamilyFunDay, these pocket events held in Koronadal in South Cotabato, Digos in Davao, and San Francisco in Butuan, gave out free full physical and optical check-ups to the members of the community during the morning. In the afternoon, special activities were held for children, such as coloring sessions, an LG inflatable castle, and even a dedicated Netflix viewing area, making it a fun-filled family affair that’s not to be missed.

LG Electronics Philippines managing director Mr. Inkwun Heo officially handed over to Dr. Mae Concepcion Dolendo, program director of House of Hope Foundation the 3 Million worth of LG products in a simple turnover ceremony held in Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City.

New Year, New Show: LG Electronics Philippines celebrates the launch of Netflix’s new original Korean drama-thriller ‘Kingdom’ - Go beyond with the shows you love through the LG B8 4K OLED TV

Brand new year means new and exciting ways to maximize technology and entertainment to bond with loved ones.

Netflix has put together two things to make most binge-worthy stories from South Korea: the thrilling K-drama about ancient Korean monarchy and the threat of an impending zombie apocalypse. Set in Korea’s ancient Joseon Period, “Kingdom” follows the journey of a crown prince sent on a suicide mission to investigate a gruesome plague spreading inside the kingdom — only to find zombies threatening his reign and his people.

On January 25, 2019, Netflix premiered a contagious case of binge-watch fever ‘Kingdom’ and just recently, LG Philippines recently launched its 30th Anniversary TV — the OLED B8 4K TV — and it’s the best way to give justice to the thrill and excitement of “Kingdom” and its mind-blowing cinematic appeal.

More than a hundred media attendees watched the the advance screening with the impressive LG OLED TVs at the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Bonifacio Global City. Guests had a blast as they got to dress up in a traditional Korean Hanbok and posed against the realistic “Kingdom” backdrop and roaming zombies. A traditional Korean feast dinner was served after the Nara Team performed a traditional Korean Fan Dance before the actual viewing.

LG Philippines is also delighted to share this exciting milestone with some of the country’s brightest personalities as brand ambassadors, the ‘Iron Man’ of the Philippine Basketball Association LA Tenorio, actor Gil Cuerva, Bb. Pilipinas 2016 Nicole Cordoves, and Lifestyle, Travel Vlogger Dani Barreto. The event was hosted by TV Host, car and road safety advocate and LG TV Ambassador James Deakin.

This growing partnership between LG Philippines and Netflix Philippines further solidifies the bond between Filipinos and Koreans. 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the friendship between Philippines and South Korea which started when the Philippines became the fifth country to recognize the Republic of Korea in 1949. Since then, the mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries has grown in every aspect: economically, technologically, culturally, and even in military and government support and this latest event is a reminder of the strength and reliability of the flourishing friendship between the two nations.

To honor the two countries’ thriving relationship and strengthen KCC’s mission to “deepen the understanding and appreciation of Korean culture among Filipinos by providing diverse cultural programs and events”, LG Philippines, being a Korean company with principal headquarters in Seoul, South Korea has donated five 55-inch UHD 4K TVs (four 55UK6300 and one 55UK6500) to the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines.

“It is an important celebration of the strong relationship between Korea and the Philippines, which started in 1949. To honor this friendship, we at LG always go beyond the call of duty to provide excellent home entertainment products and appliances to millions of Filipinos who have supported us from the beginning. It is our pleasure to contribute in strengthening the bond between our two countries,” shared LG Philippines Managing Director Mr. Inkwun Heo.

While LG has a number of TVs that are officially recommended by Netflix after passing a series of rigorous tests, the B8 4K OLED TV is one that stands out from the pack. It boasts a list of impressive features, starting with its top-of-the-line 55” 4K Cinema HDR display providing sharp contrast and vibrant colors. The B8 is made to deliver an immersive viewing experience powered by the Smart Brain α7 Intelligent Processor to make sure all TV functions and features are working together for a seamless user experience. Aside from its stunning visuals and cutting edge smart TV technology, LG has equipped the B8 4K OLED TV with a Dolby Atmos® sound system for a true cinematic experience in the comfort of your own home.

Take home the LG B8 OLED TV — the most competitively priced high quality OLED TV in the market today — for P89,991 (cash price). As a gift, every purchase of the LG B8 comes with six (6) free months of Netflix access, so the entire family can enjoy high quality entertainment at home.

Save time, energy and up to 50 percent when you buy an LG TWINWash washing machine

LG Electronics pioneered new territory when it introduced the game-changing TWINWash, a washing machine system that enables users to wash and spin two separate loads at the same time, the first in the main washer and the second in a space-saving mini washer underneath.

Taking convenience to a new level, the TWINWash allows you to save time and energy by cleaning double the amount of clothes simultaneously—the main washer can accommodate cottons and regular clothes while the mini washer is an ideal solution for specialized laundry items that require a gentler touch, such as active wear, baby’s clothes or lingerie.

Every purchase of selected LG TWINWash models entitles you to special discounts of up to 20 percent on the main washer and 50 percent on the mini washer (washers sold separately) when buying both TWINWash solutions. LG Gifts the National Museum of the Philippines with the World's #1 OLED TV and Debuts OLED Wallpaper TV (W8) at National Museum of Natural History

LG Philippines salutes the National Museum of the Philippines and its National Museum of Natural History and celebrates one of the world's riches marine ecosystems.
Jongnam An, Vice President – Home Entertainment at LG Electronics Philippines and Inkwun Heo, Managing Director – LG Electronics Philippines present National Museum of the Philippines Director Jeremy Barns with three top-of-the-line units of the brand new OLED TVs as LG TV Philippines donates to the National Museum of Natural History.

For its 30th anniversary celebrations, and further its CSR thrust of promoting education, showcasing technology and design,  LG gifts the National Museum of the Philippines with the world's #1 OLED TV. During the event, LG unveiled the 77″ OLED Wallpaper TV (W8) amidst the National Museum of Natural History’s soaring columns and glass-and-aluminum structures.

The Tree of Life, the most recognizable landmark at the newly opened National Museum of Natural History, provided a magnificent backdrop for the launch of LG’s most stunning TV to date.

Offering an unmatched home entertainment experience all in a sleek, paper-slim panel, the W8 was designed to elevate any room or viewing environment. At 2.57mm thin and 77 inches wide, it looks more like a window on the wall than an actual TV.

The creativity and dexterity that have gone into perfecting the W8’s exteriors also extends to the technology within the unit. This wallpaper TV addresses all the major aspects of picture quality, including clarity, brightness and sharpness.

In addition, the W8’s deep black levels and bold contrast provide a consistent experience regardless of a room’s lighting or the spectator’s viewing angle. Equipped with LG’s new 39 processor, the OLED W8 allows users to see every hidden detail as it was meant to be seen, with no noise or distortion. The W8 also features its AI function through its new ThinQ platform, which offers an impressive number of unique voice commands.

To show off the stunning features of the W8, LG previewed a video it has commissioned for the museum as part of its CSR commitment to education. Shot on 4K by underwater photographer and videographer Noel Guevara, the video features the exceptional diversity of the color-washed marine life and coral reefs at Balicasag Island in Bohol. The W8 became Guevara’s canvas for revealing the tiniest details of Bohol’s underwater world – from the marks on the face of a turtle to the sliver-like antennae of a reef shrimp – with incredible reality.

Can you imagine having this true-to-life picture quality and near-cinematic experience in your own home?

LG OLED ambassador James Deakin presented a video blog at the launch, where he discusses how the OLED has improved his family’s TV-viewing experience by leaps and bounds.

“Once you’ve watched something on the OLED, it’s really hard to go back to anything else. The picture quality is awesome – it’s really easy on the eyes and the sound quality is excellent-you don’t need boosters. Movie nights are a lot better, playing video games is much better, watching sports is so much better. There’s no going back,”  James Deakin enthuses.

“The W8 highlights the true extent of LG’s innovation and passion for consumer-centric experiences. We always try to provide our customers with the most advanced innovations to deliver unrivaled viewing experiences and cutting-edge designs that enhance their everyday lives.” – Mr. Jongnam An, Vice President – Home Entertainment at LG Philippines.

As part of the donation, LG also commissioned underwater conservationist director/photographer Noel Guevara to create a short video that showcases the richness and beauty of underwater life in the Philippines, said to be the epicenter of marine biodiversity on earth. The video, shot off Balicasag Island in Panglao, Bohol, features colorful reefs, tropical fish of all sizes and turtle residents.

Guevara’s video was premiered to media and special friends at the NMNH on the 77-inch LG OLED W8 TV, LG’s newest and most stunning display to date, which showed off the underwater sights of the Bohol Sea to the best advantage. Marrying best-in-class picture quality with a mind-blowing “wallpaper” design (the display measures a paper-thin 0.23 inches), the W8 represents the height of TV technology, flaunting true-to-life picture quality and cinema-quality Dolby Atmos sound. This newly launched model is also equipped with LG’s new Alpha α9 intelligent processor, which has the ability to create the clearest and most detailed pictures with realistic color and ultra-fast response times.

Get the chance at having the ultimate viewing experience right in the comfort of your own living room. Every purchase of any LG OLED TV from now until September 2 at participating dealer stores nationwide entitles you to one digital raffle entry. Thirty prizes are at stake, including one 77-inch LG OLED TV W8, one 55-inch Super UHD TVs, two 43-inch UHD TVs, five SK5 SoundBars, 11 PK5 Portable Speakers and 10 Netfiix Premium memberships (valid for three months).

LG Electronics Philippines finally unveiled the LG G7 ThinQ, its new flagship premium smartphone, at an exclusive launch recently event held at trendy bar and lounge Yes, Please.

Combining exciting innovations, a sleek design, and stunning display and sound with LG’s intuitive ThinQ AI technology, the G7 ThinQ takes the smartphone experience to unprecedented heights. The G7 ThinQ comes with a Super Bright 6.1-inch display that, at 1000nit is brighter than any other mobile phone screen. LG has always striven to provide products that makes the daily grind easier for its consumers. In the LG G7 ThinQ, this principle is reflected in the Hotkey, a button on the side of the phone that activates Google Assistant with one tap. Holding down the button will allow for instant conversations with Google Assistant, and will allow the user to search the internet, open applications and remotely use the phone on voice command (LG has worked with Google to come up 32 new Google Assistant commands). The G7 ThinQ also sports Super Far Field Voice Recognition, which allows it to hear commands for Google Assistant up to five meters away.

Yugatech founder Abe Olandres talks about the implications of AI technology in mobile use, and how it can help better our lives.

During the launch, LG invited gadget website Yugatech’s founder, Abe Olandres, to explain how the G7 ThinQ’s AI-powered features can provide beneficial advantages to everyday life. As Abe explained, the phone’s AI CAM helps deliver an unprecedented smartphone photography experience by recognizing an object and automatically adjusting settings according to what it sees. The phone also has 19 different color and contrast filters to help enhance results. All these features combined makes capturing professional-quality images a truly effortless experience for everyone.

Up and coming film director Mikhael Red discusses the cool photo and video capture features of the LG G7 ThinQ

To fully display how the G7 ThinQ delivers the ultimate camera experience in a smartphone, LG commissioned a short video from up and coming director Mikhail Red, whose latest film Birdshot won the Asian Future Best Film Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and was the first Filipino full-feature film to be included in Netflix’s inventory. The video not only demonstrates Mikhael’s skill and dexterity as a director and photographer, but showcases how the LG G7 ThinQ’s camera delivers a higher range of details, more vivid colors and striking luminance when capturing both moving and still subjects. Mikhail’s video also demonstrated how the LG G7 ThinQ enables the Super Bright Camera feature in a low-light setting, resulting in clearer, more focused images, or how the camera supports depth-of-field Bokeh effects with a Super Wide Angle feature.

Tech media and bloggers learn the different features of the new LG G7 ThinQ from LG ambassadors.

Superior sound is also another G7 ThinQ boast. The flagship smartphone has a Boombox Speaker that, as demonstrated in the launch, increases the base sound level by more than 6dB with twice the amount of bass. Translated in layman terms, the LG G7 ThinQ packs more than 10 times the loudness than that of a typical smartphone.

LG gave away the new G7 ThinQ to the ultimate BTS fans. From left, Nico Gelle, Mobile Marketing Communications Manager of LG Philippines; Christina Zabat of ABS-CBN Lifestyle; Reyn Guergio of Manila Shaker; and Mayan Salapantan, Senior Manager for Corporate Marketing of LG Philippines

How LG is helping create a cleaner, greener environment for females

In modern societies, it is important to consider how we connect and preserve with nature. Pollution (air, noise and waste) is on the rise, biodiversity is lost, and, all over the world, people are suffering the consequences of climate change due to constant development.

Women, in particular, are more vulnerable to the detrimental effects caused by pollution and toxic substances compared to men. Women have a different relationship with the environment given their needs and responsibilities as household stewards, economic providers, and their role in reproduction. (The reproductive system of a pregnant women is especially susceptible to health problems and hazards—every step in the reproductive process can be altered by toxins and contaminants in the environment.)

Women living in rural or marginal suburban areas in developing countries, who have no access to natural resources, a proper diet and adequate health care, are also more susceptible to the impacts of climate change.

Until recently, women had very few opportunities to change unsatisfactory domestic or work conditions caused by environmental degradation, and to improve their families’ and their own health. But with the advent of ecofeminism, the continuing rise of female solidarity, and the growing recognition of the critical roles women play in our communities, the world is slowly realizing that even seemingly minor decisions such choosing what to eat and how we clean our homes—decisions usually made by women—can also have significant impacts on global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, and overall environmental healthy and sustainability.

Women are now becoming more empowered to take part in making key environmental decisions at all levels, and to contribute their perspectives in creating policies and programs that affect a woman’s relationship with the environment.

LG is making a stand with women across the globe to offer forward-thinking solutions that will benefit both women as a group and society as a whole.

The electronics company has an established track record of creating innovative and forward-thinking home appliances that are eco-friendly and intuitive enough to change the lives of its consumers for the better.

Their line-up of Energy Star-winning products, which includes washing machines, refrigerators, airconditioners and TVs, slashes electricity expenses for its users while decreasing their environmental impact. Through these innovative solutions, LG is honoring the roles of women in society and valuing their domestic practices, within the home and within the larger environment.

CES 2018: LG showcases OLED’s full capabilities

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), high-tech companies and manufacturers are given the opportunity to showcase their latest upcoming products and concepts, pushing the boundaries of bleeding edge technology. It's only fitting, then, that LG Electronics opted to show off some of the best-ever demonstrations of its flagship OLED technologies.

For CES, LG wowed attendees with its OLED Canyon, a mesmerizing walkway that consists of over 246 LG Open Frame OLED displays. Audiences walked through the Canyon, which was 90 feet in length, flanked on both sides by hundreds of concave and convex displays showing brilliant natural imagery, ranging from waterfalls and caves to glaciers and seascapes.

The rich, vibrant colors of the OLED screens contributed to an unparalleled sense of immersion that had audiences snapping photos at every turn.

Another one of LG’s incredible showcases was a 65-inch rollable OLED display. While it's not the first time LG demonstrated the amazingly flexible properties of OLED panels - in 2016, LG demoed a bendy 18-inch prototype - it's the first time that the technology has been seen scaled up to the size of a typical large TV. When unrolled, the huge 4K display featured all the hallmarks of LG’s best OLED televisions, with incredible contrast and vivid colors, but at the touch of a button, it retracted into its base until it was completely out of sight, rolled up within.

Other options included partly descending into the base, switching from a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio to a 21:9 ultrawide, allowing you to view movies shot at cinematic aspect ratios without any letterboxing. Another option caused the display to sink almost all the way into the base, revealing only a small strip that displayed updates, controls, and notifications.

While these technologies represent visions of the future that may not be coming to your living room any time soon, LG had more up its sleeve for current customers in the form of the LG Signature OLED W8, its latest flagship TV. The W8 includes further enhancements to the display technology, along with a whole host of new features that highlight it as one of the best TVs you can buy. One feature is the integration of Google Assistant into the webOS Smart TV platform, allowing you to use intuitive voice commands to control the W8, search the Web, control IoT and smart home devices, and more.

Another is the inclusion of a 4.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar that provides incredible sound to match any content that you can throw at it. The soundbar also serves as the input source for the TV, and connects to it via a stunningly thin cable.

As other manufacturers enter the market with their own OLED models, LG’s pioneering efforts and technological leadership in the field are what allow it to stay on top.

These and other demonstrations of LG’s OLED technology truly cement LG’s status as the No. 1 OLED brand.

LG Celebrates 5 Years of LG OLED TV Excellence with the Launch of 77-inch LG Signature OLED TV

Featuring Picture-on-Wall Design, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, LG OLED TV Delivers Unrivaled Home Cinema Experience

The future of home cinema entertainment has arrived with the introduction of LG Signature OLED TV in the Philippines, via an official launch ceremony at the Ascott, BGC on September 12, 2017.

LG is the pioneer in OLED technology (Organic Light Emitting Diodes). Thanks to OLED, we can now enjoy more vivid visuals like never before. Over the course of the past five years, LG has continually developed a better, more vibrant viewing experience. The result is the LG Signature OLED TV.

There is indeed cause to be excited because the pinnacle of this 5-year continuous improvement is embodied in the sleek 77-inch LG Signature OLED TV, the first LG Signature TV to be made available in the Philippines. LG Signature is the gold standard in design. Behind it is an intuitive, responsive and functional design philosophy that spells sheer elegance in simplicity.

OLED technology makes perfect blacks and perfect colors come alive, and the viewing experience is complemented by exceptional sound with the Dolby Atmos audio system. This is the first time that the Dolby Atmos has ever been featured in TV speakers. The result mimics reality on your TV. Also because of OLED, the screen is so thin, it’s picture-in-glass thin!

The result is a perfect viewing angle, wherever you are relative to the TV. Through the webOS, you can sit back and binge-watch movies and shows on Netflix for hours of non-stop excitement. No one can blame you if you never want to leave the house again!

“With Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos integrated into our newest OLED products, viewers will be able to recapture the magic of the cinema and experience their favorite movies with their original clarity, depth and imagination intact,” said Mr. Tony An, Vice President for Home Entertainment, LG Electronics Philippines. “The stunning new TVs on available in the market demonstrate our commitment to innovation and leadership in OLED Technology.”

With the arrival of the LG Signature OLED TV in the Philippines, we welcome a new era in TV. It has elevated the home TV entertainment experience.

LG Electronics partners with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s Bantay Bata 163 for Dengue Hospitalization Pledge campaign

LG Electronics Philippines (LGEPH) takes the fight against dengue in partnership with ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s child-care program Bantay Bata 163 for Dengue Hospitalization Pledge campaign, where organizations will issue pledges to cover a certain amount for the treatment of each dengue-afflicted child confined in Bantay Bata 163’s partner hospitals.

Fifty pledges will be allotted for each of the eight offices of Bantay Bata 163 covering Manila, Laguna, Bicol, Negros, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao and Northern Mindanao, amounting to a total of 400 pledges nationwide. A tropical disease, Dengue has become one of the leading diseases which tremendously affect Filipinos, especially children, from all walks of life.

The company’s pledges will be supplemented by a customer engagement program where buyers of LG’s Mosquito Away Residential Air Conditioner (RAC) are encouraged to contribute to the campaign. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase of LG’s Mosquito Away RAC from March 15 to May 30, 2017 will go to the campaign.
LGEPH’s Managing Director Inkwun Heo said, “LG has always believed in putting technology to good use. This is why we came up with innovative products like the LG Mosquito Away RAC to help families protect themselves from the fatal dengue disease.”
Launched in the Philippines early last year, LG’s revolutionary Mosquito Away RAC repels mosquitoes, especially the dengue-causing ones, allowing a healthy, comfortable and mosquito-free haven in homes, schools and establishments. It utilizes a speaker that makes inaudible ultrasound wave at a specific frequency of over 30kH, completely harmless to humans and probably the easiest way to keep mosquitoes away.

Results of tests conducted by the University of the Philippines’ Los Baños Research Professor Dr. Pio Javier showed that the LG Mosquito Away RAC is capable of repelling indigenous mosquitoes, the dengue-causing Aedes aegypti, at a very high success rate of 82.71 percent. Aside from its Mosquito Away feature, RAC operates at low voltage for higher energy-efficiency, and its jet cooling feature results in quick cooling.

Participants in LG InnoFest will get the opportunity to visit the world-famous N Seoul Tower where a massive OLED display made up of 248 individual 55-inch LG OLED TVs will allow guests to experience the amazing picture quality of LG’s OLED technology firsthand.

“We are committed to developing innovative products and mutually-beneficially marketing activities to strengthen LG’s position as Asia’s most dynamic premium brand in the eyes of both partners and consumers,” said Chris Yi. “Events such as InnoFest allow us to give audiences a close up view of our newest products, which have to be seen to be truly appreciated.”
