TikTok celebrates Valentine's day by launching the #BeCyberSmart global tool kit

TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, is excited to celebrate this year's Valentine's Day. With more than 225B video views about #love, the world is buzzing with feelings this season. As more people turn online to find companionship, TikTok is committed to educating our community about the dangers of cybercriminals posing as a potential love interest online. Follow these security tips:

• Take it slow - Ask questions and pay attention to inconsistencies that might reveal your online romantic interest is an impostor.

• Do your homework - Conduct a reverse image search of your online partner's profile photo (you can use images.google.com). If the results show the same profile photo on another site or with a different name attached, a scammer may have stolen it.

• Don't play games - Don't give away too much personal information to someone you only know online, and be extra cautious of people who make repeated attempts to meet up with you in person.

• Never show 'em the money - You should never send payment or agree to accept money from someone you've only met online or by phone.

• Listen to your heart, follow your head - If something seems amiss or you suspect someone you met online isn't who they say they are, cut off all contact immediately and report to the relevant authorities.

TikTok Strengthens Its Safety Features To Protect Younger Users On The App

The latest update limits the ways that users can interact with children on TikTok, protecting them against potential predators and groomers.

TikTok continues to promote a safe and positive app experience for its users through another safety update, this time protecting the younger members of its community. The update brings tightened privacy settings for children's accounts, limiting the ways that users can interact with them on the app. This added layer of security for under-16 TikTok accounts serves as a way to safeguard children against online crimes, such as child sexual exploitation, which is a growing problem faced by internet users today.

Below is a quick rundown of the new safety changes to expect from TikTok.

• Users can no longer download videos created by under-16 accounts. Also, these videos can no longer be used as part of the app's Duet and Stitch features, which gives users the ability to clip and integrate scenes from another user's video into their own.

• Only the friends of users aged 13 to 15 will be able to leave comments on their videos. For accounts held by users aged 16 to 18, only friends will be able to use their videos for Duets and Stitching, by default.

• Hosting live streams on TikTok will be restricted to accounts of users aged 16 and above.

• TikTok also restricts buying, sending, and receiving of virtual gifts to users aged 18 and up.

These new changes aim to supplement the app's existing safety features, which include:

• Family Pairing, which allow parents to link their own TikTok account to their child's, giving them control over their teens' mobile phone habits by turning features on and off remotely.

• Screen Time Management, where users can set limits for the amount of time that they want to spend on the app each day. Parents can use this to restrict their children's daily screen time to 40, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. Once the time limit is reached, users will need to enter a password in order to continue using TikTok. This password-protected feature is valid for 30 days.

• Restricted Viewing Mode, which limits the appearance of content that may not be appropriate for all audiences. This feature is also activated via password, and is valid for 30 days as well.

The safety of the online community continues to be a top priority for TikTok, so you can rest assured that you and your family remain secure as you use the app. Enjoy a safe and positive TikTok experience today by downloading the app on your iOS and Android devices.

TikTok, Home to Rising Local Artists and Popular Personalities Who Were #DiscoveredOnTikTok

TikTok,
t
he leading destination for short-form mobile video, has seen many creators who have been #DiscoveredOnTikTok, go on to create amazing opportunities for themselves, especially in The Philippines. These creators have successfully grown their careers and tapped on multiple avenues such as becoming recording artists, entrepreneurs and even personalities in local media.

To further inspire the community to keep on creating unique content, TikTok is collaborating with these TikTok-grown talents through the #DiscoveredOnTikTok campaign, where top TikTok creators share how they started their TikTok journey, how this has allowed them to grow both online and offline, and how the platform has helped them broaden their reach for their advocacies and thrive in their respective careers.

Watch the campaign video below:

Get to know some of these amazing creators who were #DiscoveredOnTikTok.

The Voice of Your Dreams

Inka Magnaye is the voice behind many iconic Filipino commercials. She started out on TikTok sharing her belly dancing videos, Mafia Point of View (POV) duets, and behind-the-scenes clips that show how she records her voiceovers. When people discovered that she was the voice talent behind so many popular commercials and the in-flight voice of the Philippines' flagship airline, she quickly rose as one of the most recognizable creators on the platform, and has since become a sought-after talent and host for events. Inka recently launched her successful podcast, Sleeping Pill With Inka, as well.

Random Girl of SM Megamall

Zendee first got a taste of internet stardom when she went viral as a random girl singing in SM Megamall, and then invited to appear on The Ellen Degeneres Show. She has experienced several opportunities as a singer over the years but what ultimately helped launched her career as a performer was her viral parody of the popular #TalaChallenge on TikTok in 2020. Zendee has cited TikTok as one of the major pushes for her own musical journey, and the perfect platform for her to showcase her talent as a singer. At present, she has been able to work with big brands and hosts the online companion show of the "videoke" reality game show, Sing Galing.

Banana Queen

Joyce Glorioso, who goes by @joyang.tv on TikTok, has been passionate about performing ever since she was young. A cook by profession, she became TikTok famous after sharing videos of herself dancing with a deadpan expression. In this video, TikTok users spotted bananas hanging from the ceiling of the kitchen where her videos were filmed. She has since been dubbed "Banana Queen" by her followers. Joyce has recently gotten noticed by local media for her funny TikTok videos, and she was even offered a part in the upcoming adventure series, Lolong, which will air in the Philippines on GMA.

The Pharmacist

Arshie Larga is a local pharmacist working at his family-owned pharmacy who gained millions of views and followers on TikTok because of his educational videos that explain healthcare topics covering misinformation on medication, vaccines and COVID-19. He started making TikTok videos with the goal of educating the public, providing his audience with correct information in a span of one minute. He is known for being considerate and generous to his real-life customers, showing day to day clips of taking the time to educate his customers and answering their questions, breaking the notion that medical professionals are intimidating and difficult to talk to. Since being discovered on TikTok, Arshie has been invited to speak at multiple medical webinars, and has also been interviewed several times by local media outlets. He is often referred to as an inspiration to younger audiences and aspiring pharmacists.

The Doctor

Dr. Kilimanguru is one of the most popular educational creators on TikTok and was one of the winners of the Top Creative award at the first TikTok Awards in the Philippines. He had aspirations of becoming an actor but chose to pursue medicine instead after realizing that there were very limited opportunities for actors in his hometown. For the past year, he has used social media as a creative outlet for his performances.  However, after joining TikTok, he has amassed millions of views and has since been interviewed on different TV programs about his TikTok journey. His claim to fame is his educational content that features simple explanations for different illnesses and health conditions, from aneurysms to Covid-19. Dr. Kilimanguru always finds ways to inject humor into his TikTok videos too, making his content even more entertaining and relatable to users.

Inspiring a Generation of Confident Filipinas

Ayn Bernos is considered as one of the most recognized TikTok creators in the Philippines. A proud morena, she first joined the app to promote self-love by showing snippets of her day, sharing affirmations, and confidently posting different aspects of her life from beauty to fashion. Continuing her advocacy outside the platform, Ayn has also successfully launched a podcast and a fashion label which both focus on empowering Filipina women who do not fit the typical beauty standards. She has also made waves as one of the Top 30 finalists at the recent Miss Universe Philippines competition, which earned her the nickname, "TikTok Star to Miss Universe Philippines aspirant" in various media interviews.

The Musician

JMKO is among TikTok's discovered talents who have successfully risen to fame through the platform. TikTok has been very important in his music journey. On TikTok, he has caught the attention of both local and an international audience with his amazing song covers and crazy "popcorn" duet videos, helping him gain millions of followers and views in a short period of time. Through TikTok's partnership with Himig Handog, one of the biggest songwriting competitions here in the Philippines, he achieved one of his music career goals and was selected as a song interpreter amongst top artists in the industry. He has now released an EP, "Prelude" and has been a recurring performer in ABS CBN's entertainment variety show, "ASAP".

Creating Content with Pride

LGBT comedian, Sassa Gurl, started going viral on TikTok because of her funny Filipino and nostalgic content featuring day-to-day situations that are highly relatable to many audiences in the Philippines. Sassa Gurl is quickly becoming a household name and a meme icon for Gen Z Filipinos. Just recently she has graced the cover of local magazine, Village Pipol's Pride Month issue.

TikTok Releases 'Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari', the First Original Song Composed by a Creator on the Platform

The love song is a collaboration between rising R&B Artist Steven Peregrina and songwriter, Kaya.

First heard on TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, the song "Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari" will soon be available for audiences around the world to enjoy. TikTok recently discovered the song, which was composed by 20-year old songwriter, Kaya, and enlisted emerging R&B and Hip Hop star, Steven Peregrina, to provide the vocals for the track.

Earlier this year, Kaya shared a snippet of this original song on her TikTok account, and the video gained almost one million views, organically, on the platform. The romantic ballad accurately depicts what it means to fall in love, with lyrics that speak about wanting to slow dance with the person you hold dear.

The full track will be released this October, featuring Steven Peregrina on vocals. Quickly gaining popularity among listeners and fellow artists around the globe, Steven was also recently tapped by 88rising, a global music force of this generation, to be part of their second EP, Semilucent 2, through their Philippine-based label, Paradise Rising.

A springboard for songs and artists, TikTok provides a fresh platform for emerging and established musicians alike to reach new fans. As such, TikTok collaborates with songwriters and artists on the platform and enables them to release their songs professionally, reach a wider audience, and gain recognition in the music industry. By providing budding new artists a space where they can freely and creatively express themselves through their music, TikTok hopes to inspire more users to create, and also contribute to the local music scene.

"Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari" was pre-released on TikTok last October 15, 2021, and the official release of the full song across all streaming platforms will be on October 22nd. A lyric video will also be released together with the full song on October 22, 2021.

Listen to "Sa Dulo Ng Bahaghari", along with other viral tunes on TikTok! Download the app on your iOS and Android devices today to get started.

Newsreels – The next TikTok, But for News - Watch top news videos, curated for you

The app development powerhouse behind Newsreels has done it again. Revolutionizing the traditional has always been part of their DNA. And this time, they took the notoriously rigid and conventional news format to the next level by creating an app that delivers 100% accurate news, up to 20 times faster.

With its two trailblazing news formats – reels and bullets – everyone can get to know more updates, in no time at all.

This is the future of news. Welcome to Newsreels.

While a conventional news app shows its collection of headlines with full articles, Newsreels introduces a game-changer in the news industry through its bullet summarization engine. Readers get to save precious minutes by getting just the important bullet points from the news they want.

To make things a whole lot better, modern readers get to enjoy informative news content in trendy reels format. Now, users can simply swipe across an endless stream of news reels. Living with its moniker, Newsreels has jazzed up the interface with a video-upload feed for the users, much like Instagram or TikTok. This is another unique feature that cashes in on the younger generation and offers them digestible, up-to-the-minute news.

On top of that, Newsreels covers a wider spectrum of publishers - right from the regional/local level to the global news houses. Truly, nothing comes close when it comes to the sheer volume of their partner publications.

The app goes further by giving content creators the option to collab with the app, letting them use it as a publishing platform to reach more audiences. For an app born out of the innovation surge during the 2020 pandemic, Newsreels is the much-needed power-up of both emerging and established news outlets.

"It is our answer to the growing need of the public to have a one-stop news portal to get all the relevant information they need, be it for COVID-related topics or absolutely anything they want, without having to jump between apps and news sources," says RJ David, the team’s Product Innovation Officer.

Gone are the glory days of the plain vanilla newsreader apps. The readers today are smart: we want more; we want better, quicker. And we want it how we like it. Newsreels has quashed the "same-old, same-old" monotony of current affairs through its contemporary, made-to-order, openly inclusive news aggregation platform. The era of engaging, on-point, choice news is in.

You are cordially invited to experience the future of news. And the future is now.

Welcome to Newsreels.

Tiktok Made Me Buy It

TikTok skincare favorite Sakura Soap helps remove scars and even out the complexion. For maximum results, work it up to a lather onto your face and body, leave on for five to ten minutes, then rinse off. This bar also comes with a refreshing candy scent.

If you love TikTok bedroom makeover videos, you need this cool and magical Levitating Moon Lamp. Using magnetic levitation technology, this lamp spins freely in mid-air without any support. Tap lightly to change the color to warm white, white, or yellow.

Feeling tense? This soft silicone Pop It Phone Case doubles as a phone protector and fidget toy. Its pop bubble design both effectively serves as a buffer for your phone and allows you to relieve some stress. Dress up in bright pastel colors to match the case and snap some cute mirror selfies!

For those who lurk fitspiration TikTok videos, get this handy Siedodo Mini Juicer. With a speed of up to 18000 rpm, you can quickly concoct a variety of fruit juice and milk shake. You can also use it as a bottle if you’re constantly on the go.

Trendy fashion finds

Glam up your basic tee-and-jeans outfit with a Gold Plated Chain Necklace. This jewelry is made of gold-plated hypoallergenic stainless steel, so you won’t need to worry about an allergic reaction if you have sensitive skin.

Stuck in a fashion rut? Show off your shoulders and throw on this Halter Cropped Top for a quick style upgrade. The buttons and collar lend a classier feel to this casual top. It’s also made of comfy ribbed material.

Set aside your skinny jeans for now, because loose-fitting bottoms are currently all the rage! This pair of denim jeans features a slightly flared, baggy fit and a flattering high-waisted silhouette.
