Direk Chito and Gov. Vilma Santos' reunion project "The Healing" - with R-13 and R-18 Versions

The Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos celebrates her 50th year in showbiz with “The Healing.”
“The Healing” is Vilma’s gift to the fans who are continuously supporting her for 50 years. It also marks her comeback movie after the blockbuster hit “In My Life” three years ago.

“It’s a perfect project after “In My Life.” And since I don’t do movies that frequent, I might as well give the public something different,” she said.
Direk Chito and Vilma’s reunion project makes the Star for All Season proud of another milestone happening in her golden anniversary in the entertainment industry.
"I've been asking Chito for so long for something this and I'm so glad that it's finally happening. With the undeniable top caliber of Star Cinema, Direk Chito, and our award-wining cast, how can I go wrong!" she remarked.

“This is my first time to do a suspense-horror and I’m so proud of it, true enough, ‘The Healing’ is totally a new brand of suspense-horror that will surely make a mark in the Philippine horror cinema,” Gov. Vilma said.

During the bloggers conference for The Healing at ABS CBN last July 23, Gov. Vilma Santos, Director Chito Rono and the writer Mr. Roy Iglesias had fun and informative experience sharings with us. Gladly meeting them and for me, it was a reunion with Gov. Vilma whom I've met and working with her in some events last 2009 and 2010.

Gov. Vilma also shared with us about her family, how proud she is of her three boys. Each one is different  - Luis Manzano with his own stuff and put his money where its supposed to be. Ryan Christian , is grown now, so humble and intelligent and smart, doing good in school. Her youngest, (as she called him her youngest kid) Senator Ralph Recto her mentor and guidance in her politics, her secret why she was able to manage the province of Batangas since she became a governor. She loves her family so much.

She also shared that in Batangas, there are many "aswang" stories,  about the Filipino tradition of going to faith healers for guidance and treatment of ailments have not yet been tackled  in-depth in movies. And in our film, the viewers will not just be horrified. They’ll somehow be challenge to think as to how faith healing has already been a part of our culture.”

Chito S. Roño’s “The Healing” is a intense suspense-horror movie tailor-made for the Star of All Seasons. Roy Iglesias also said that “had she not agreed to the role, the movie may have been indefinitely shelved.

Gov. Vilma shared us the making of the movie. "It was a real experience, it's not just telling  as suspense- horror, 'kala mo okay lang, hindi eh, especially with Direk Rono, he won't settle for less,  it's part of learning also."
"Vilma is an amazing actress, she has nothing left to prove. This movie suits her stature, but what is most important is that she agreed to an ensemble cast.  The challenge for me here is to 'recreate' a genre to make it effective," Direk Chito said.

"It is one of the genres that never fades," he added. He said that he owes it to the audience to make sure they get what they come for.

Director Chito is giving advice to those who want to be part of the world he loves. "Become a good director first." He says there are a lot of other directors out there that have that spark to shine. He is optimistic that there are a lot of them out there that's got promise
"As a director, you carry the weight of the whole production on your shoulders. Your work reflects the people you work with so be good to your team; take care of them and they will take care of you," Director Chito advices.

Director Chito Roño talks about the inspiration behind his latest opus and the process it took to bring the story to the big screen. He collaborated with award-winning writer Roy Iglesias to create the horror-suspense film. He says that there is no one incident that inspired the film, but that it is from a collection of experiences from people who turn to faith healing because adequate medical care isn't always available to them.

Director Chito shared that the theme of the movie rests on this premise. “If all you have to help you through difficult times is faith, are you ready for what could happen in case things become even worse?”

Director Chito Rono was so pleased to announce that “moviegoers have now a choice, will have the freedom to choose what version they will watch because for the first time in Philippine cinema history “The Healing” will be shown in two versions, one is the mild-one in R13 and the other one is the director’s cut in R18.”

Amelia Earhart in a Google Doodle for 115th birthday

Google honored Earhart on her 115th birthday anniversary by putting up a doodle on its site on July 24, 2012.

Amelia Mary Earhart ,  born July 24, 1897  and  disappeared 1937.  Earhart was the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Earhart was a faculty member of the Purdue University aviation department in 1935  to counsel women on careers and help inspire others with her love for aviation.

She received the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross for this record. She wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots.

She was also a member of the National Woman's Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights AmendmentDuring an attempt to make a circumnavigational flight of the globe in 1937 in a Purdue-funded Lockheed Model 10 Electra, Earhart disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. Fascination with her life, career and disappearance continues to this day.

Patti Smith published two poems dedicated to Earhart: "Amelia Earhart I" and "Amelia Earhart II" in her 1972 poetry collection Seventh Heaven.

In the Star Trek: Voyager episode "The 37's" (first aired 1995), Earhart, portrayed by Sharon Lawrence, was one of many humans abducted by an alien race in 1937, only to be found in cryo-stasis on a planet on the other side of the galaxy.
Academy Award nominee Amy Adams portrayed Earhart in Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009).

Earhart is portrayed by Hilary Swank, “In America” (2009).

A musical play titled “Amelia: The Girl Who Wants To Fly” in 2011, hosted by the Great Canadian Theatre Company.

Singer Joni Mitchell wrote a song called "Amelia" on her 1976 album, Hejira, based on Earhart's legacy. A video of her live album Shadows and Light (1980) includes the song "Amelia"

"Amelia"

I was driving across the burning desert
When I spotted six jet planes
Leaving six white vapor trails across the bleak terrain
It was the hexagram of the heavens
It was the strings of my guitar
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

The drone of flying engines
Is a song so wild and blue
It scrambles time and seasons if it gets thru to you
Then your life becomes a travelogue
Of picture-post-card-charms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

People will tell you where they've gone
They'll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
Where some have found their paradise
Other's just come to harm
Oh Amelia, it was just a false alarm

I wish that he was here tonight
It's so hard to obey
His sad request of me to kindly stay away
So this is how I hide the hurt
As the road leads cursed and charmed
I tell Amelia, it was just a false alarm

A ghost of aviation
She was swallowed by the sky
Or by the sea, like me she had a dream to fly
Like Icarus ascending
On beautiful foolish arms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

Maybe I've never really loved
I guess that is the truth
I've spent my whole life in clouds at icy altitude
And looking down on everything
I crashed into his arms
Amelia, it was just a false alarm

I pulled into the Cactus Tree Motel
To shower off the dust
And I slept on the strange pillows of my wanderlust
I dreamed of 747s
Over geometric farms
Dreams, Amelia, dreams and false alarms

This is SWAGPOP

The first thing most people want to know about Cher Lloyd is, ‘What does the music sound like?’ Then it’s ‘What’s she really like?’ To kill the proverbial bird with the proverbial stone, it/ she is dynamic, determined, funny, outspoken, totally inimitable, incredibly astute and really very enjoyable to spend time with. Creating an album that quite brilliantly yet succinctly defines her multi-faceted personality, the as-yet-untitled debut delivers on both upbeat pop smashes and punchy urban panache.

The diverse and imaginative album features collaborations with Busta Rhymes, Mike Posner and new British rapper Dot Rotten. She has also worked with acclaimed writer/ producer Max Martin (Britney Spears, Pink) and established hitmakers including The Runners (Rick Ross, Rihanna), Kevin Rudolph (Lil Wayne, Timbaland), RedOne (Gaga, Nicole Scherzinger), as well as Emelie Sandé, who has written with Professor Green and Wiley

“Each and every track is different; it’s just a massive amount of variety,” Cher decides. “It’s like I’ve got a music box and there’s wild things popping out all over the place. You could describe it as ‘Swag Pop’, but I’d also describe it as ‘Grit-Ya-Teeth’ as well,” she laughs.

Cher Lloyd – Sticks + Stones is available in music stores nationwide, for only Php430, exclusively under Ivory Music & Video, the licensee of Sony Music in the Philippines. To get Cher Lloyd on your moibile, text CHER to 3456. Open to Globe and Smart subscribers only, standard rates apply. You can get Cher Lloyd’s songs online, just visit  mymusicstore.com.ph

After igniting the Saturday Night Live stage earlier this month, Karmin’s single "Brokenhearted" has infiltrated Top 40 Radio becoming the most added song nationwide. The song, which People magazine calls, “An infectious pop confection..,” was co-written by Karmin’s Amy Heidmann and Nick Noonan. Karmin are slowly unveiling surprises over the next couple of months including TV performances, features splashed across the pages of NYLON, ELLE, Teen Vogue, YRB and more leading up to the “swag pop” duos debut music release Hello out now.

MTV says that, "Brokenhearted" kicks off with a fat, bouncy beat and soulfully sung verse,” while Teen Vogue raves, “Don’t let the title fool you—‘Brokenhearted’ is as upbeat as they come with Karmin’s signature fast-paced rhymes and a catchy hook” and NYLON calls it, “perky, irresistibly addictive, and way happier than the title suggests.” Billboard is already boasting that their debut release will be one to keep a close eye on as reigning supreme this year. Karmin took the internet by storm last year after posting a cover of Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” on YouTube. The clip instantly went viral and became one of YouTube’s most viewed videos of 2011. The duo has since racked up almost 200 million views for their videos.

Hello is available in music stores nationwide and available for download on www.mymusicstore.com.ph, only from Ivory Music & Video, the exclusive licensee of
