Parental guidance can keep children protected online

Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program offers free cyber safety eModules

Dangerous characters lurk on the internet, among them cyberbullies, scammers, and online predators who can target children. Thus, knowledge on internet safety is a must for parents and family members who guide them.

Find out how you can protect your kids against online risks and threats with the help of Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) eModules. Watch the videos on Globe’s new cybersafety portal www.makeitsafe.ph.

“Keeping children safe online means staying informed and getting involved so they can be guided and protected against online predators. The involvement of parents and guardians are critical. Let’s create a safer online environment for children together,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe.

Introduced in 2016, the award-winning DTP started as a series of workshops to educate students, teachers and parents on proper online behavior and encourage them to create an open, inclusive, collaborative, and safe online environment. So far, it has reached 4,010 schools, involved over 115,000 teachers, and served over 1.9 million students nationwide.

With the introduction of the hybrid school set up in 2020, DTP also evolved. Lessons were turned into eModules that can be used for teacher training in schools and provide parents and guardians with information that can be passed on to the youth. Young adults may also refer to easy-to-understand videos to learn more about cybersafety.

DTP has four eModules that discuss the following:
  • Monitoring Children's Internet Activities
  • Protecting Kids From Online Threats
  • Helping Children Stay Safe Online
  • Navigating Online Learning With Your Kids
There is also a full DTP Parent Module in Virtual Reality.

DTP is part of Globe’s cyber safety advocacy, which includes its fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC). The company has partnered with local and international organizations to reduce materials that promote OSAEC for future generations to thrive in a more positive and progressive society.

Globe is committed to provide equitable and quality education under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In addition, the company has been implementing its #makeITsafePH campaign to raise awareness about cyber violence and cybersecurity. Watch a video on the campaign against cyberbullying here.

PH’s fastest-growing app sets the record for the biggest nationwide online medical mission

mWell unites hundreds of doctor-volunteers, mental health experts,
and health-conscious Filipinos on National mWellness Day

Last August 27-28, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation’s (PSE: MPI) mWell, the Philippines’ fastest-growing health app, made history by gathering hundreds of doctors, medical specialists, and mental health experts to give free online consultation and sound medical advice to patients and health-conscious Filipinos from all over the country.

National mWellness Day, mounted for the 2nd time since its inception in 2021, has achieved a milestone in its mission to bring quality healthcare to more Filipinos nationwide in the new normal by providing free online consultation to hundreds of patients from all over the country through the mWell PH app.

The two-day advocacy event was helmed by hundreds of family doctors and specialists from Metro Manila, Cagayan De Oro, Davao, and Zamboanga who donated their time to provide consultation via the mWell app, while mental health advocates from MindNation and Makati Medical Center Wellness Center gave on-call services for free mental health counselling.

Dr. Reymark Calma congratulated mWell for the event which allowed him to feel the true spirit of volunteerism while fellow volunteer, Dr. Mark Calban said, “It was such an inspiring experience serving the medical needs of patients not only from Metro Manila but from different provinces.” Expressing her appreciation for the support she received, Dr. Mae Doctolero, said, “The responsive tech team and operations support made everything so easy.”

A record number of patients, including celebrities, Metro Manila-based journalists and regional influencers were able to consult for free. After the consultation, they also received free e-prescription, medical certificates, lab referrals and vouchers.
Despite hectic schedules, doctors and mental health experts from all over the country willingly donated their time and expertise to provide free consultation via the mWell app.

Hundreds of patients from across the country were able to consult for free via the user-friendly mWell PH app.

Patients expressed gratitude for the free consultation. They found the doctors to be very kind and approachable. “The consultation flow is good and clear,” said one of the patients while another writes, “This is the best teleconsultation I have experienced.” An mWell user who had a consultation with the dermatologist gave this feedback: “My doctor is amazing. She was on time and provided me with all the support.” A mom whose daughter had fever was so thankful that they were able to consult a pediatrician for free. She said: “Laking tulong para sa mga nanay na tulad ko. Ang daling gamitin at ang bait ng duktor. Buti na lang may mWell app!”

mWell partners, including the country’s top insurance companies – PhilCare and Generali gave their full support for the advocacy along with Makati Medical Center Foundation, MPIC Foundation, Unilab, MedExpress, 24 Alkaline-C and PiCur antioxidant.

The mWell OnTheGo bag was filled with a tablet and a phone preloaded with the mWell PH app containing a health pass code for free online consultation. Foldable solar panels, battery, and Smart pocket wifi were also donated to enable the residents to consult anytime.

National mWellness Day is in support of the MVP Group’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy focusing on quality and affordable healthcare. MPIC President, Chairman and CEO, Manny V. Pangilinan says, “Filipinos now have better access to healthcare through mWell’s integrated digital healthcare ecosystem with a wide and sustainable network of medical experts and services.”

For Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Chief Finance, Risk and Sustainability Officer of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, sustainability is the backbone of the work done across the group. Cabal-Revilla says, “Being able to serve Filipinos nationwide is at the heart of what we do in mWell. That’s why we dedicated two days working with volunteer docs and partners to provide consultation for free. As part of the MPIC Group, mWell is committed to work towards the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.”
mWell OnTheGo empowered Dumagats in Brgy Lumutan, General Nakar, Quezon to consult online for free using the mWell PH app.

HONOR’s New Spatial Audio Technology and “Gateway to the Future” Global Initiative

On the IFA convention stage for the first time since independence, HONOR CEO George Zhao introduces new HONOR initiatives that harness the power of technology to connect people

[Berlin, Germany – September, 2022] – Global technology brand HONOR today reaffirmed its commitment to international markets during its IFA keynote presentation, titled “Embracing the Connected Future.” Bringing HONOR Talents to the global stage, HONOR unveiled Gateway to the Future, a global initiative piloting in Hamburg, Germany with the aim of inspiring creative talent from all around the world to use the power of technology to connect people with culture in the era of the metaverse.

As a brand, HONOR has consistent investment in Spatial Audio, AI and AR technologies, to unlock immersive experiences and get ready for the next digital revolution.

Unveiled during HONOR’s IFA keynote session, Gateway to the Future is a new HONOR Talents initiative designed to enrich cultural heritage through the power of technology. In collaboration with ARLOOPA, HONOR challenged two renowned artists – Yunuene and Timo Helgert – to creatively reimagine the iconic Wasserschloss building located in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The AR experience is now live on-location in Speicherstadt, and is also available for users to view at home via the ARLOOPA app, offering smartphone users a new way to discover cultural treasures through immersive AR. The campaign video is available here: https://youtu.be/7rwwZQw2C4M.

Introducing HONOR’s Spatial Audio

Announced during IFA 2022, HONOR’s Spatial Audio solution is designed to enable headphones to produce wide, cinematic 3D sound effects that create the sense of immersion required for next-generation AR and VR experiences.

At its core, HONOR's Spatial Audio is designed to deliver surround sound and 3D audio through headphones by using the accelerometer and gyroscopes in earbuds to track the motion of the user’s head, remapping the sound field to bring users an immersive and delightful audio experience in all scenarios such as movies, music and games. And by means of the algorithm, the changes of sound on its way from the source to the listener's ear can be simulated. These effects include localization of sound sources above, below, behind and in the front of the listener.

HONOR's Spatial Audio is the first to support sound externalization distance adjustment, providing users to dynamically adjust the distance of virtual sound sources from 0.15 to 10 meters to suit a more personalized listening experience.

HONOR Talents: Applications for Interactive AR Artwork Category Now Open

Complementing the initiative, HONOR has introduced a dedicated Interactive AR Artwork category as part of its HONOR Talents global design competition. Within the category, contestants are invited to produce digital AR artworks which creatively transform their neighborhoods, including digital overlays for buildings, walls, parks, and other public spaces, helping to get communities closer to culture. Artists interested in the contest can find more information here: https://www.hihonor.com/honor-talents/en/

HONOR also partnered with the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in China to create a new AR artwork titled INFINITY. The phy-gital experience showcases an artistic interpretation of the universe, which the creative team comprising CAFA faculty members and students use as an analogy to promote intercultural dialogue. The art is available at HONOR’s IFA booth through the ARLOOPA app.
